Have my NT scan today and blood draws for what they are calling first trimester screening. Will they tell me at this appointment if our baby is at risk or do they have you come back for interpretation? I'm just anxious and want to not wait. I am excited to see the babe though. It's been like two weeks since we last saw him/her.
They will tell you right away how the NT measurement looks, but the accompanying blood work takes a few days/up to a week to come back. The way it was explained to me is that the nuchal fold measurement can identify up to 70% of Down Syndrome cases, then with the bloodwork its up to 90% of cases.
They might not tell you right away. In fact, unless an actual radiologist is doing the u/s (unlikely) the tech shouldn't be telling you- it's outside what they're qualified for.
So while some may go against protocol and say something, some won't. And they shouldn't.
Ok so that was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. The tech came in and did her thing for like fifteen minutes- it was just us watching the baby wiggle around and waving. Then the doctor came in and put the baby back on the screen and told us everything was absolutly perfect and that the images show no abnormalities- and then we just watched the baby for a while. She also predicted that the babe is a girl!!!! So looks like we're team pink!!!! I'm posting the pics in the ultrasound board.

Mine was done at MFM, so the doctor came in and did the measurement himself after the tech, then said it was fine. So I guess it depends on where you have it done.
My midwife appointment today was so, so great! I'm even more excited than I was before about planning for our home birth. She was so awesome and I left feeling so in-charge of my pregnancy and health.
She also mentioned that one of the reasons I might have fast labors is because of a tilted uterus. My grandmother and mom both have one (and it is hereditary), but I don't know if I do/don't (won't know until after the baby is born). Just thought that was interesting since all three of us are easy laborers.

Glad your appt went well today @KatieEl! Had my first OB appt today and it was great! Found baby's heartbeat on the Doppler, coming in strong at 185 it was amazing. Provided a lot of information for upcoming appts, and really like my OB! Sounds like we just have to decide how we are doing any genetic testing. The one option is maternity21 or something like that? Other one is quad testing. Any ladies have any insight on these options?
I got a VM from the dr office today that they cancelled my appt for this next week. I still haven't been seen and I'm going into 11 weeks. They said the next appt is July 13. So frustrating! I went to my first appointment and I wasn't seen bc the MW went to deliver a baby. I get that, but I wish they would've called to tell me before I drove there after dropping my kids at Grandmas. So at this moment looks like my first appointment will be close to 14 weeks. Am I the only one on here waiting that late to be seen? Argh!
I did have an impromptu appointment today due to some pretty severe cramping. Baby is still great, thank God but... SCH has grown from 3cm x 1cm to 4.3cm x 2.5cm even with medication and bedrest. We also found out I have weak decidual reaction in the cervix (though interior os is closed) - meaning I may end up needing a cervical cerclage in the near future. On a good note though, cramping is gone and SCH is below the baby, between my uterus and cervix - thus reducing the risk that the SCH could separate the developing placenta or that a large clot release could cause miscarriage. Still on bedrest, for no specific time period - but hopefully this will resolve soon enough and I can go back to having a somewhat normal pregnancy.
Had an appt yesterday. Heart rate was 160 and everything looked good on the ultrasound. My dr said she may be able to tell the gender if baby cooperates at the next appt - I'll be 15 weeks. Can't wait!!
