    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms): Pretty good... feeling much more like myself lately with just blips of weird appetite and nausea, though it's mostly gone. Still having some cramping/stretching.
    3. EDD? How far along are you? Due 12/6, today I'm 13 weeks.
    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise): Pretty good. We had our NT scan last Friday and saw LO bouncing around which was awesome. Tests came back fine and all looks good.
    5. Any appointments this week/last? Next appt is just a check-up in a week.
    6. Rants/raves/whatever: Rant: the damn at-home doppler. I've used it a handful of times already and found the heartbeat with no problem. Then of course I try it out this morning and couldn't find anything. I know I have to take it with a grain of salt because I'm not a professional and I'm using what looks like a Fisher-Price toy to detect LO's heartbeat, and for all I know, LO moved during the night which made it tricky to find it today. Still, it's hard not to be worried. I used it yesterday and found it no problem, so I'm looking forward to coming home from work today to check again. I know I should stop using it so much for exactly this reason. Ugh.
    7. GTKY: What is your favorite cuisine? First thing I thought of was Italian! I love all kinds of food, but I'm always in the mood for red sauce, pasta, and red wine.

ETA: Update on #5 regarding the at-home doppler. I found the heartbeat without any problem last night after I got home from work. I read somewhere (or one of you told me) that a full stomach/bladder helps. After hearing it, I vowed to put it away for a while! Thanks everyone for your support. <3

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms): nausea is coming and going which is annoying, but mostly I'm just exhausted all the time

    3. EDD? How far along are you? 12/10 so 12w2d

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise): Waiting for the CVS results is torture. I know it takes time and I know it's a process, but I just need to know if this baby inherited our shitty gene.

    5. Any appointments this week/last? Cvs last Friday, nothing until June 23

    6. Rants/raves/whatever: the Doppler is also my best friend/enemy. I'm good at finding the heartbeat, but if it takes too long I start to panic. I know I should just put it away, but after the cvs and the slight miscarriage risk, I need the reassurance.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite cuisine? Mexican for sure. Especially if my great grandma is the one cooking. So good!
  • 1. Tell us about yourself (if you're first participating):
First posting since intros because I was traveling almost the whole month of May. Will plan to participate on the PGAL threads since I promised myself not to only lurk this pregnancy... My MC was last February at 9w3d. I have a 5-year-old DS.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms):
Sore boobs, and sometimes just a little "blah." Feel/am heavy.

    3. EDD? How far along are you?
9w5d. I think the EDD was Dec 28 or 29. Can't remember what the nurse said, too lazy to calculate it myself. Happy to pass the previous MC point!

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise): Have that cautious feeling. Have had no US or HB checks, so trying to stay distracted and not obsess. No worrisome symptoms so far. Amazing how much a prior MC changes your mentality though. It is a really different experience than with previous prenancies.

    5. Any appointments this week/last?
Had one last week and they did a pelvic exam where doc said uterus was heavy (yay!). Supposed to go in next week to check for HB. Declined all optional early testing because I don't like going to the doctor's office and I am a bit of a fatalist...

    6. Rants/raves/whatever:
On our overseas trip a couple weeks ago we all got a stomach bug. Between stomach issue, possible MS, jetlag, adapting to foreign foods, it was a miserable flight and tough first few days abroad. :(

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite cuisine?
    Thai!

@jackiesmom324 I grew up in DC area and still visit there a lot. The housing situation is insane there. Good luck!

Re: home doppler: I haven't been able to find a hb yet. What I do hear is lots of movement and that has tided me over, but I'm getting concerned seeing how many have already found heart beats. Ugh.
  • @NME44 finding it the first time is so hard! I know it's next to impossible to not worry though. 45 hours until your US :)

I've done it with my other two, but of course I can't remember when I started trying to find it with those babies. At this point I'm thinking I just need to throw the danged thing away, lol!

Thank you for the reminder  ;)
  • 2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms):
i actually have 3-6 hours stretches where I don't have a lump in my throat! Yay!

    3. EDD? How far along are you?
    12/16, 11+4

    4. How are you feeling (anxiety wise):
We had the blood draw for the Matern21 on Friday. It was really hard to be in the same office where we learned Juno had Trisomy 18. Since then, I've been thinking a lot about dealing with good news & dealing with bad news. I just really hope this baby is healthy. Please please please.

    5. Any appointments this week/last?
Ultrasound at genetic counselor's office on 6/7

    6. Rants/raves/whatever:
The chance of this baby having a fatal chromosomal problem is 6% (I am AMA + our history).  Screening is the only possible way to protect myself from another late loss; not that an early termination seems so much better than a late one.  Sigh. It's a little hard to see some folks being jealous of those who know their baby's sex because of screening.  (1) We're team green; (2) I would give my right arm not to  go through this screening / not to have it feel so necessary. I realize this is misplaced upset, and no one means any harm, but there you go. Feeeeeeeeeeelings.

    7. GTKY: What is your favorite cuisine?
Indian food.  Chicken Tikka Masala is an absolute fave.
  • @jackiesmom324 Do you mean the Washington, DC area? I'm in Vienna!

  • @Amber_Waves I understand the feelings. They're there even when you don't want them to be. I try so hard not to project my issues but sometimes I just can't help it.
  • @Amber_Waves I totally understand what you mean.  We lost ours to Trisomy 15 in Oct.  I can't wait to be past genetic testing, just to make sure that everything is ok.  It has nothing to do with learning the sex of the baby.  I would love to be able to not have to worry about these tests and have a "normal" pregnancy.  But being AMA I won't ever have that.  We have our NT scan on 6/7 too, sending good vibes your way.

@Amber_Waves Totally feel ya.  I just want a safe and healthy baby and I emphatically do not care about which genitals this LO has!

@peachy13 I've only used mine once (both H and the MFM doctor were all :frowning: about it).  But the first time I couldn't find a single thing and got very frustrated.  Then I watched about 10 youtube videos of people using them at around the same week as me, and that really helped.  Also I used their tips of 1) full bladder and 2) lie completely flat.  I've also seen people who say they find it better after emptying their bladder so that might be something you can try.  Good luck!

  •  Hey!
@Cmillar  yay at almost having harmony results and almost being 2nd trimester woot! and yumm BBQ.. where do you like it from?
@peachy13 - yass! that you are feeling good! and omg the at home doppler. Have you found LO yet?? and omg yes which is your fave sauce, i love vodka sauce its so spicy and delish
@NME44 - yes ultrasound coming up? whats your fave dish? i really like the lemongrass based ones and of course will always crush a drunken noodle. The mango and sticky rice is one of the few desserts I can eat with Celiac disease
@flowerpower5838 - OMG nooooo! with the keys! noooo. and umm Margarita, im thinking of it now, maybe ill do a margarita mocktail bc the margarita mix is usually sour enough to do the job. mmm. also whats your fave taco? thnx for empathizing yeah i just wish the places were more emphathetic. im like hi we wont be able to see it until monday. and there like well thats tough bc .. and its like :( i live 8 hours away
@holzie-2 looks like your appointments are coming right up. OMG i love grilled cheese, i can crush some grilled cheese with havarti or muenster! and yay IVF power!
@ktcakes87  - yay our BMB superstar! im glad that you are feeling good. I cant believe you are already 13 weeks thats aso awesome <3 you are like in the promised land almost . and i do love your siggy, its makes me laugh everytime i see it. What show is that from?
@blueskies - i think you are righ about the doppler because when i tried it at clinic i couldnt find anything either
@blueskies17 - how come you cant have antipasta? i thought that was like caprese salad n jank
@rainbowdashh - omg ive been thinking about you and your CVS. i def think i get you about using the home doppler... i think its kind of reassuring for the PGAL brain. Speaking of Mexican food, when I was there visiting a friend in Veracruz her grandma made us these homemade flour tortillas, they were literally to die for. ive never tasted anything so beautiful in my life. <3
@whiska - welcome!  aww what i sad Loss story especially with all the waiting. are you saying like the person is using the name you picked out for the last baby that passed? did they know?  OMG i totally understand the hope bender ive been a victim as well. and omg! i feel so reassured that your NT scan went well! what is sakshuka? is that the thing with the grape leaves?
@katya - welcome! omg i totally understand that cautious feeling. yeah the housing situation in dc is NUTS! but im kind of putting my foot in my mouth now because at least DC has housing, the place im moving to now literally has like 10 available places to move in the whole city
@amberwaves  - oh my gosh i definitely hear you about offices triggering memories. Im so really sad about your late loss I had no idea, thats heart breaking. I definitely understand what you mean about screening. Chicken Tikka Masala - umm. I think my favorite is vindaloo.
@pandawares - yes I mean DC! cool you are in vienna, i used to take that line out there a lot to visit my mom at work she works in reston and would pick me up. great school in that county! and great ethnic food of all varieties
  • @jackiesmom324 the type of antipasti that I miss are cured meats like prosciutto, bresaola and salame (risk of listeriosis). The other types of antipasti are good too but mama is craving that salame!
  • cook that joint and it should be ok right?
maybe cook it then fridge it?
i thought they were ok to have if you cook it?

@jackiesmom324, lol, I figured my hour countdown answered how I'm feeling (anxious), appointments, rants (too anxious...lol!)

i love drunken noodles the best, and pineapple fried rice, and tom kha.
  • @jackiesmom324 yeah unfortunately I don't like it cooked for the way I usually eat it. I still enjoy it occasinally as a pizza topping, so that will keep my cravings at bay!

I FOUND THE FAINTEST LITTLE HEARTBEAT!

I can probably stop counting down now  :D
  • whiskawhiska member
@jackiesmom324 Thanks!  The name is one we've had picked out for a decade and never told anyone, so she didn't know, but it's more about -- well, if I had conceived two years ago this would be a moot point and I wouldn't be upset that someone a week ahead of me was using the same name.  I promise I'm not territorial about names - the sadness is more about the IF and loss.

Also Shakshuka - be ready for this to change your life!  It's a super easy weeknight dinner of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce.  I don't like things super spicy so only use 1/4 to 1/2 of a jalapeno.
    https://smittenkitchen.com/2010/04/shakshuka/
We just serve with feta and pita and holy moly, it's good!  Another tip is to only crack as many eggs as you're going to eat that night.  Then for leftovers the next day add a bit of water to the sauce, heat, and then crack new eggs.  We also like to add a little white wine to this sauce.
