Weekend Randoms 5/26-5/29

What's everyone up to this weekend?
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

We don't have a ton to do for once which is nice.  We are going to a bbq tomorrow evening.  I'm having a yard sale next weekend so we will probably continue working on it.  Otherwise just relaxing.  I'm looking forward to the 3 day weekend.

  • Tomorrow we are taking DD1 to the airport so she can spend June with her Dad across the country :(
  • Still trying to figure out plans. We typically head to NY for an air show but we aren't doing that this year. We are known to make last minute plans so that still could happen. Maybe we will go to a baseball game or grill in the park locally.

  • My best friends are coming to town. Four of us have been friends since 6th grade and this is the first time we have all been together since 2008! So excited to see them.  Going to a baseball game tonight,  mountains tomorrow,  and bbq on Sunday.  I am slightly exhausted just thinking about it but it will be fun.
  • Headed to DC for a bachelorette weekend. Coming back Sunday for DH's softball game. He is a veteran and participates in a ceremony every year, but I'll miss it. Fun fact: he proposed to me after it two years ago! We will probably BBQ with family and / or friends. He has to work a 24 on Monday, but I have off then and Tuesday.  :)

  • Sleep!  Also, the room we're using for the nursery just became this catch-all "I don't know what to do with this so put it in that room" junk place when we moved 2 years ago.  And the stuff was literally thrown in--not in any kind of organized fashion.  I'm pretty sure most of it just needs to be tossed/given away.  So I will start the process of clearing that room this weekend so I don't have to feel rushed about it.

We're also getting together with at least one friend group Saturday night, but I'm trying to get out of the one on Sunday.  If I don't get a lot of rest/relaxation over the weekend, it makes the week very hard because my pregnancy symptoms are still so severe.  I also have a big week/events at work next week, and FIL is visiting next weekend, so rest will be critical this weekend.

  • We have a party to go to tonight, boring errands tomorrow but after I'm going shopping with my bff to help her find birthday and bridal shower dresses. DH wants to go see the second Guardians of the Galaxy. Our friends are having a "field day" at their place Sunday and Monday is open. There will definitely be some cleaning in there, I haven't given our new place a good deep clean yet.

One year ago today DH proposed to me. I just looked through our proposal and engagement pictures. I love them and him so much. I'm so so glad we have such a happy memory captured.

Work work work. I work Thursday/Friday/Sunday but luckily I'm off Saturday so I might drive up to see some friends. Just found out our best friends (another couple with similar aged kids) are off on Monday as well so now we're trying to find something to do!
  • Probably going up the canyon near our house to have a little cookout, possibly with some family or friends. A dollar theater movie. Family get together with dh family on Sunday and then whatever my husband wants to do on Monday :) I just want to clean since our house keeps getting messy with me being so exhausted and morning sick but dh also needs some serious relaxation time cause his work is crazy right now so I am trying to just let the big projects go till I am feeling up to doing them. I mean I don't really Need to reorganize the storage space and go through all the baby stuff just yet.
  • All this nursery talk lately is making me want to get started this weekend. Haven't decided yet if I will clear out our junk room or baby will share with their sister (/us for the first few months). No big plans otherwise.
  • It's going to rain and possibly flat out storm for most of the weekend, so we have no plans. Holding out for some nice weather Monday to do something fun. I'm so behind on my gardening, but it's going to take a significant warm, dry spell to get it dry enough to plant.

  • @NYTino24 Is this like the most educational museum filled bachelorette party ever? The weather will be nice here for the most part. That's what the lady said this morning but they don't know shit.

  • We have my nephews birthday party tomorrow. It's pizza and then a movie. They are supplying the pizza but you have to pay for the movie yourself. $9 fricken dollars a person. 9 x 4 + gas and present = very expensive party for "guests".  :|
  • We have friends coming in and are just relaxing. Our neighborhood pool opens this weekend too so we will be visiting if the weather corporates.

We're hopefully going swimming today and might go out to eat with one of DH's coworkers. We're friendly, not close friends or anything. She had a MC (her third or so) recently. Obviously it's been hard for her and I've been giving her space, especially considering she knows I'm pregnant and I'm showing. She was in the hospital for a bit and DH isn't the brightest bulb in the box and asked if I wanted to go to the hospital to see her. Anyway, she asked to see us/me before we move so hopefully we can do dinner.

I also need to pick up Lotrimin cream because I think I'm getting some kind of fungal thing from boob sweat. I got it last summer but not until mid summer when it was actually hot all the time. I'm blaming it on pregnancy boobs.

Funny story but total tmi: Last night, DH and I were having sex. He was playing with my boobs and apparently tasted something funny. After I checked and there was definitely some leakage. Guess that's not happening anymore...

  • @Ladybentspoon I'm so sorry for your loss  <3

  • I dont know where this belongs..... is it a rant? A symptom? I dunno. Gonna call it a random....

I am not feeling this pregnancy at all. I'm not sick anymore so it's not because of that. I'm just not "into it". No enthusiasm. Like, i know i should be looking at nursery setting up etc but "ugh" is all i can think.  No excitement. And i know i should be enjoying looking this pregnant (Im huge) but I'm hiding in my house in trackies n hubbys tees. Couldnt be bothered looking nice at all. And if i think about the future of feeding and changing and caring for a new born i just feel "flat". Ive never felt this way about it all....I've been nervous and scared before. But never "flat". If my feeling was a colour it'd be gray. I know I've gotten quiet on the board too.

I'm wondering if I am heading for some PND...
Should i be mentioning this to my midwife? Anyone else feeling this way?
  • bcashawbcashaw member
@c+mpeachey I would definitely mention it to your midwife, it sounds like it could be PND. Sending support your way! Xx
  • The consignment store by my house is having 30% off all baby clothes this weekend...I got some aden and anais pieces super cheap!

Also, DH put together an over-the-toilet storage thing for me...he didn't realize until he got it completed it would sit flush against the wall because of the molding. So he removed the molding only to find out that the previous home owners didn't paint under the molding and it looks ridiculous. He's having a breakdown trying to come up with a solution. I keep telling him just paint the damn "molding" area white and leave it. It's behind the toilet, no one is going to notice except me. But he's super ticked it's not working and my bathroom is now a disaster.

  • @jess0211 jealous of the Aden and Anais stuff you got! Wanna post pictures? :) I just love baby things!

@c+mpeachey I have no experience with what you're going through but I would definitely talk to your midwife about it. I'm sure they've heard it all and will definitely be able to help. Hope you start feeling less flat and grey soon <3

So there's rhis new trend in my neighborhood mom group where anytime anyone is driving to a McDonald's they post asking if anyone wants ice cream and they write which McDonald's they are going to. Then the first person to respond gets ice cream brought to them. And I just think that's really beautiful.
I need this but for a Big Mac  But also there's a McDonald's super close walking distance to our new apartment, we just never let ourselves go there :(

  • @bcashaw um I need to move to wherever it is you live because clearly I live in the wrong neighborhood

Ah ahahahaha @jess0211 I'm so lucky they're a really supportive great group of women.
@DuchessOfCambridge we live around the corner from a McDonald's. The other day the manager greeted me by name and I was like "I have a problem"
  • @c+mpeachey I have felt like that a lot between this pregnancy and my first. It absolutely can be a sign of depression and talking with your midwife is a great place to start. I disappeared from my first bmb for a while because of similar feelings. I want you to know that one, your feelings are valid and don't deserve to be brushed off (my first doctor brushed me off) and two, it in no way means you will be a bad mother. You didn't say that you're worried about that, but I was. It did take me longer to bond with DS. I didn't love him before he was born or even at first sight. But it did come naturally and we absolutely flourished those first few months. I personally did not have any trace of ppd. I hope that gives you a little hope. My inbox is open if you need anything.

  • @bcashaw Where the hell do you live that all the McDonald's ice cream machines in town work? Unicorn City.

Every Memorial Day and Labor Day my best friend's family rents this gigantic cabin on this amazing spring fed river 2 hours north of where I live. We've been going since we were little kids, you get in tubes at one end and float 4 hours to the end. The cabin is about halfway. DH and I had our first date there and it's beautiful. They want me to come up tomorrow since it's my day off but I'm just now getting home from work, and DH works. So it would be me and a toddler making the trek. I know it's only 2 hours but I'm really not feeling it. I know I should just suck it up. I obviously wouldn't float because of DS but just the drive feels like work.
  • slavenslaven member
@BayCamp I love river floats. I'm from southern NH and DH is from MA. There's a bnb in the White Mountains of NH that we love to go to but have only been in winter. He suggested we go for a night when we leave Korea but I wasn't sure what to do there. There is a river float in that area so thanks for the reminder haha

@slaven I know you mentioned before you're going to be stationed in Georgia? Northern and Central Florida have some amazing floats too. Water so clear you can see 30 feet down and just beautiful with manatees and otters everywhere
  • So my DS is sick so I had to call out of work. I'm probably overstretching but I'm scared it could be Lyme disease. He had a tick on him last weekend and last night he was crying saying his head hurt but I was hoping he would sleep and be fine. This morning he has 101.8 fever and says his head still hurts. I'm trying not to call his doctor's office yet because it's a holiday weekend and the doctor deserves to sleep in once in a while too.
  • bcashawbcashaw member
@amber0529 that's really scary. I'm super paranoid about Lyme since a good friend of mine got it.  I hope he's okay!
  • @bcashaw  I just asked my friend who's a pediatric nurse and she said it's probably not Lyme because the tick usually has to be on for 48+ hours and I don't think it could've been on him more than 12-18 hours at most. I'm going to check his throat when he wakes up to see if maybe strep or tonsillitis. He doesn't usually sleep this late either.

We are going to take a day trip to Jersey today to go to Wildwood. We've never been before and love to check out new places so we're headed there shortly. No other plans since we don't have any family down here. Usually we have a huge party for Memorial Day. I'm really sad to be missing out on it this year.

@Ladybentspoon I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you guys have a great camping trip!

@bcashaw I love that! What a sweet gesture. I would love to start something like that here. Everyone loves ice cream!

@amber0529 I hope your son is feeling better soon!

DH and I are up early and headed for a 3 hour drive to go to our close friends daughters 3rd birthday party. Wish me luck, I know my baby bladder is going to have us stopping lots!

It's not a long weekend in Canada (ours was last weekend) but I hope all you ladies have a great weekend!
