I'm working on my exit plan with the kid I babysit. Tuesday he scratched DS so bad that he drew blood and he still has a scratch visible. Today he swung a toy at his face and gave him a black eye. I can't stand to see my sweet boy get beat up, and I also can't stand the aggressive side he brings out in him. I'm watching my friend's 3yo today as well and watching the different ways he interacts with both of them is crazy. He's instantly defensive and ready to shove the aggressive one away but will turn around and share with the 3yo nicely. I just think it's better for both of us to just find a way to quit.
@BayCamp hearing about this kid, I'm impressed you've lasted this long. It seems like every time you look after him he hits your DS and teaches him some new way to be aggressive. And the parents don't seem to care much. Your poor DS, I hope his black eye isn't hurting him too badly!
I (selfishly) was trying to hold out because she was giving us her old tula. But I can't anymore. I'm not going to blame his behavior because it would make her defensive. I'm just going to tell her it's too much while being pregnant and I want to have my days free to spend more time with DS before the baby comes. I'll let the daycare she starts using after this straighten her out about his behavior, no matter how much I've commented it's not been a big deal to her so maybe coming from a third party it will sink in.
@baycamp I can understand being defensive because it's embarrassing to be told your kid is behaving that way...but she needs to be an adult and deal with it so the behavior doesn't continue. Suck it up, buttercup.
I am hungry, and NOTHING sounds good. I am happy that my morning sickness is pretty under control/ on its way out but now it is being replaced with hunger and I can't think of anything that appeals to me, not even my favorite foods. Ugh, anyone else have this at any point?
I told some of my students, who's last day is today because they are seniors while the rest have two weeks left, about me being pregnant. They are all so excited for me but I feel guilty for telling them. The timing was so it wouldn't get them off topic while finishing the year. The reason I feel guilty is that a teacher I work with has suffered a few mcs and I dont want it to be like I am rubbing it in or make her feel bad. I want to be excited and tell my kids who always wondered when I would have kids. It's a weird situation. I am having such mixed emotions.
@AntWolfe as someone who has suffered a loss, I would never want someone to not celebrate or share their pregnancy because they are worried about hurting my feelings. Different people handle it differently, but I don't think you should feel guilty.
DH gets his hair cut every other week. It takes 45 minutes because they do the whole hot towel shave and everything. The place is 30 minutes away. That's almost 2 hours of child free relaxation every other week. I mentioned how I hadn't had my hair done in almost a year (last July) because I 1) never had the kid free time and 2) couldn't justify spending over $100 on myself. He goes holy crap, $100?!?! That's ridiculous. Then I asked him to add up how much his biweekly hair cuts have cost over the last year combined with gas money. He quickly changed the subject but now my blood is boiling.
@BayCamp I never get my hair done either. My mom always used to do it but I couldn't take waiting until I visited and went to a salon to cut off 10" for locks of love a month or so ago. Now I have about a year until I'll need to do it again. DH always got biweekly as well. He recently learned how to do it himself. Works for me!
I picked up a newspaper for myself today so I could do the crossword. Only to get home and find tat someone had already done it. What kind of a person does the newspaper crossword then puts the news paper back into the box? Monsters. That's who.
Your husbands cut their hair every other week! My fiance goes until I have to tell him that he's starting to look homeless which is about every other month! Same with shaving. But he works construction so he could care less how he looks. My weekend Wambulance is work! My birthday falls on Memorial Day this year and of course I have to deliver Amazon that day. Boohoo to me. I used to love when my birthday fell on Memorial Day because it meant no school/work.
@amber0529 that stinks that you have to work on your birthday! I hope you have a great birthday anyway...and on behalf of my Prime loving household, I apologize. Though I wouldn't expect them to deliver on a holiday!
@amber0529 happy birthday! My husband is the same, cuts his hair every 3-4 months after I threaten to French braid it. The last time he finally trimmed his beard was because he burnt a little bit of it when the grill flared up. When he was leaning close. I usually only cut mine once or twice a year.
My SO has only cut his hair twice his entire life. He has super curly hair so although it grows fast, it doesn't look like it. His first cut was when he was a baby and his mom just cut his curl off the top of his head and the other time was last year to get all of the dead ends off! It's almost back to the length it was before he cut it now. Shoulder length about. He always has it in a low pony though so it doesn't seem so long.
My wambulancr is that its cloudy on my beach day. Yes, I realize I can come back anytime I want and yes, I realize most people cannot. But still, wa-wa-wa!
Mine is that I have work today and the place I stop for iceed coffee had zero breakfast food today and when I got a chance to go to the cafeteria they had closed it down. I am so hungry. Also I'm out of mangos.
@baycamp wow. You shouldn't even feel bad telling her why. I can't stand stuff like that- I am very protective of ds bc he is a gentle soul. There's an aggressive kid in his daycare and I complained. I get that you can't control everything your kids do but that level of aggression points to some kind of problem ? A black eye ?!
A friend of mine asked a group message for movie recommendations. She turned them all down, ended up watching the movie I suggested, and told us all she didn't like it. 1) no one forced you to watch it 2) maybe don't be rude AF and come back to tell everyone that you didn't like my recommendation. It's not a big deal, I'm just very annoyed by it. All the eye roll gifs.
We had a super long week and DS's bedtime suffered as a result. Last night he passed out coming home from the beach at 6:30 (3 hours early) and would not wake up for anything. Not for pizza, a bath, or even DH getting home. As a result he was up for the day at 3am and I'm sooooo tired.
Just getting caught up on these! @BayCamp definitely don't feel bad about not watching that kid anymore. You have to put your LO first. Also, my husband has learned how to give himself a haircut and he does it at home every other week instead of spending the money on haircuts. (I still go to the salon every 6 weeks like clockwork though. Whoops!)
@KLink15 I'm currently having that issue all the time. And what sounds good one minute, sounds terrible the next. And I'm starving all the time.
@bcashaw I love doing the crossword puzzles and whoever violated your paper is an animal!
My Wahhh is that DS3 is teething hard core and last night spiked a little fever and didn't sleep well. I took care of him for some of the time. Then DH took care of him some of the time. This morning DH let me sleep in for an extra 2 hours and when I got up, I let him go back to sleep for a bit. It's been almost 3 hours and I want to go wake him up because we have things to do and I'm being a brat because he got an extra hour of sleep and I'm the one making a human. I'm honestly just tired and whiny today!
8 more hours of work and I'd like to sit in this monitor room and take a nap rather than being out on the floor, today is dragging. Again, no food at cumbys so I tried somewhere else and it took me several minutes to realise it was Sunday while wondering why the doors were locked stop. Still not looking forward to tomorrow's drive to Boston to sit in a room with my in-laws and SILs family, it's just going to rain and be loud and crowded.
@BayCamp get outta dodge with that kid!! I quit nannying two kids in college when one actively tried to drown the other. You definitely don't want to wait until the aggressive behavior gets even more dangerous!
@ariasbabyblog I asked my husband today walking into the gym if people would think I was pregnant or just have a gut. He said the latter. An hour later, some said, "Baby on the way!!??" So, maybe you look more pregnant than you think.
@ariasbabyblog and @MississippiCatfish DH had to tell me to quit looking at myself in every reflective surface/mirror we passed while we were out shopping yesterday... I was trying to see if I looked pregnant or just fat!
My 12 year old told me today that it's not fair and he wants my belly to start showing soon. And I'm like bud, I'm showing you just can't tell yet. I think he's hoping I will look 9 months pregnant for my entire pregnancy
@ariasbabyblog@Perfectypo@ooodalollly@MississippiCatfish I feel the same way...although as people are finding out about the pregnancy I am getting a lot of "I thought you were but I didn't want to ask!" So I guess it's more obvious than I think.
Also, I ask my husband all the time..."do I look pregnant? Do you think people can tell in this outfit?" etc. I'm sure he is getting annoyed by it lol.
I was at a dueling piano bar last night and a bouncer standing next to me saw my belly and mentioned his day job is an ultrasound tech. I asked how far along he thought I was and he overestimated by 5 weeks. I even had a black tshirt on. I must be starting to look pretty big if he thought I was 20 weeks.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
