SECRET Facebook Group?

Hi everyone,

Are there any secret FB groups for December 2017 / January 2018 moms? I have found several closed groups, but we haven't announced yet & the closed groups can be seen on your profile, in search results, suggestions for friends etc.

I'm thinking of creating a Babies Due Dec 2017 - Jan 2018 group - would any of you be interested in joining? If so, please comment with your email address & I'll add you!

I love facebook groups, I joined the one for my January 16 baby, but I usually think the migration is better in the third trimester, since a lot people stop participating and what not, so waiting usually weeds out the lurkers.

@KatieEl yeah you're probably right. I haven't joined one yet simply because we haven't announced and I know that FB can sometimes share "secrets" that you don't necessarily want shared so I thought to create my own and make it secret for the time being.

It does seem a little early for all that. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure you'll find some people willing to join a fb group. I'll just be here in the corner with my tinfoil hat on.

I am all for a Facebook group-I love mine from July '16. It's WAY too early now. We are still getting to know each other, and have yet to weed out the crazies (of which there were several on my last BMB) and catfish. 3rd tri is a much better time to migrate to FB once we have our "regulars."

@schaze oh my goodness. I actually saw something like that on the bump once. I love the show catfish just because I can't even believe it, every single episode! But I could imagine some voyueristic creeps might love to read about everyone talking about their boobs and other pregnancy related things on here. Eeeek!

is it terrible to admit that I'm kind of looking forward to the catfish and crazies showing themselves? People "watching" them was one of my favorite pastimes on my last BMB

@Shanski70 Oh no, I'm also VERY curious to see if any appear on our page. I can't remember which board--maybe just December or November--but they went through a crazy one and I was following every single post!

Hahahahaha you ladies are hilarious. I do like crazies, absolutely love them - they usually put on a good show.

I'm good to hang out in either place, but tend to spend more time on FB.

Which BMB was the one with the fake lesbian couple and the fake wife showed up? And turns out they stole some pictures from a woman in Sweden? Switzerland? I can't remember but that one was my favorite. ETA I should say "she" stole pictures since there wasn't really a couple to begin with.

I remember my last bmb, and the amount of MUD and just all around craziness towards the end definitely merits waiting to at least break into factions. A bit of a downer to think about now, but hopefully we'll be different!

@schaze Yep, July '16 had some nuts-- at least they were entertaining! For that reason, I won't be joining a Facebook group until the third trimester. Or a Bumpocalypse.

Umm... thank you for the head's up that Closed Groups on FB are not private. I totally joined a "Pregnant Peloton Group" the other day (I ride the Peloton App with my spin bike) and I had no idea I was potentially outing myself. I just had to un-join

Yeah, I wouldn't be joining any FB groups until the end of this journey. But I do wish some crazies would come on out, just for my own entertainment. And I TOTALLY remember that one, @remindmeofthebabe. I spent hours one day looking through all of those posts. It was SO good.

Oh yeah I definitely went down the rabbit hole on that one! It was confusing since so many posts were deleted during the exodus, but still very entertaining. Wasn't there a big one kinda recently with major fake medical situations? And there's always jessandtim haha.

Also friendly PSA: make yourself catfish-proof. At the very least, don't have your TB sn match other social media sn's and don't have it include some easy-to-figure-out version of your real name. The crazies are entertaining and all, but also ... you know, crazy.

I agree, too early. But I'm in once the crazies are outed! There was one in my last BMB who was faking her pregnancy (she had a hysterectomy) and we didn't figure it out until she was already in the FB group.

I would love to join a Facebook group but I agree it might be a little early. I was active in my past two daughters birth month groups but I'm worried with this being baby number three and me working that I won't be able to be as active as I would have in the past! But I'm here and I care.

Wow, as a bump newcomer and FTM, I have to say I have no idea what to expect by crazies. I mean, put a lot of women from totally different everything's together and of course some drama can arise, but I'm intrigued by the sounds of how crazy this is. Fake illnesses? People have too much time on their hands!

Oh, you ladies have no idea. I was in the June '12 BMB. Fake illnesses, crazy people, you name it, we had it. We've weeded people out and the group on FB is great. My April '16 BMB is awesome on FB. We started here and went over early and everything has went awesome. I found a January '18 group on FB, but it's mostly younger FTM. I'm old, so I don't know if I really fit in well. I'm all for a FB group!

I'm all for a FB group, but not until later in the game. Like PP said, by the time we get to 3rd trimester we'll have weeded out the lurkers, the catfishers, and the crazies

and have a better idea as to who the regulars are and who we *want* to share our social media information with.

I'm all for a fb group whenever. My June '15 group is my tribe. I'm way more likely to comment regularly on fb than on here, mostly because of the formatting here. But whenever.

I've already bought some popcorn so I'm ready for when the ish hits the fan.

We have an amazing Dec '15 group (even though my dude was born in November). We started it pretty early on in our pregnancies, I think I was maybe 8-10 weeks along. There was a lot of TB drama on the board about the FB group and the board so after that I stuck with the group because we were easily able to weed out the crazies before we were all too far along and it became a great and amazing place. We posted weekly bump photos, ticker changes, etc. We're all still great friends and talk in our group all day to this day. So I get wanting to wait till 3rd tri. Personally, I'm a fan of how easy it is to access and answer questions on facebook.

This. I'm ready anytime.But then again I'm part of your AMAZING and totally irreplaceable June 15 Mama tribe, so there's that.

I'm a big girl and I've been on internet mom forums since Dec 2001 when I got my first BFP with DS1. Ice been around the block and seen it ALL. I know how to protect myself and I know when and what to let go. It's not too early. My August 2002 mom group (we took 10
years to migrate to Facebook because it didn't exist in 2001 LOL), is my sisterhood. We have been through divorces, babies, moves, marriages, deaths of children, spouses, parents, natural diasters, terrorism, you name it. You learn to weed out the crazies. And what you are left with is the good stuff. The stuff you NEED as a woman and a mother.

All of this talk about crazies makes me extra sad I've never been part of a BMB before.

Now I feel like us FTM should sit and eat popcorn and smores round the campfire while the STM+ regale us with tales of former BMBs lol.

All I know is I listened to the episode of Sword and Scale where the pregnant women gets her baby stolen by some crazy who wanted a baby and pretended to be pregnant. She advertised that she had baby clothes on the internet and then assaulted the women when she came to get them and nearly killed her! I know a FB chat is not the same as randomly meeting up but still, that one stuck with me. I agree with being cautious of what you put online. I also agree that other forums are more user friendly so I see both sides. I'm more of a lurker since I'm always at work and can't be online checking the app. DH gets annoyed when I'm on here instead of visiting with him. I'll be interested to see how this all progresses though!

@Baby_is_coming yes I watch a similar thing on Web of Lies on ID chanel. This pregnant women was kid napped after meeting up for free baby items. She was brought to a hotel room and we'll it didn't end so well for the poor women but they saved the baby. This world can be a scary place.

Anyone here from May '13 when the "Crazy" was having twins and born super early and with high complications.... It got insane! I think a lot has changed on here since then.

@Baby_is_coming OMG I love Sword and Scale (long drive to work) and that episode was crazy and so depressing... did you listen to the one about the abortion clinic where the doctor kept baby feet in jars? Like WTAF?

I actually am in a due date group from October 2015, and I love the ladies, they are so super supportive. But we never formed the group until end of 2nd beginning of 3rd trimester !

I'd for sure love to join a fb group, but I'm thinking 3rd trimester at the earliest. It will give us time to get to know each other and feel comfortable sharing more information about our personal lives with each other.
