So I haven't announced at work yet, other than to my boss at my yearly review last week, but I keep debating about when to tell the rest of my team. My appointment isn't for another two weeks so I'm getting impatient for that anyway.
With my last pregnancy I was in so much denial about being pregnant due to an earlier MMC, that I put off even calling the doctor until like I had started interviewing for my current job and actually ended up seeing the heart beat the same day I accepted!
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone is dealing with work place announcing. The gossip mill here is brutal so I'll have to say something before I start showing too much this time. I kept it a secret last time until I was just starting to show.
Re: announcing at work
I've told two coworkers - one because she is pregnant and was my go to for questions & the other because she sits in the cube next to her... so there was no way for her not to know. Other than that I'm not telling anyone until I start showing or 13 weeks... whichever comes first. Since I'm carrying twins I have a feeling the showing will happen first.
My thought with telling people now is that I am only going to tell people who will be incredibly supportive if something happens. My department will be SOOOOO supportive if something happens and to be honest I would want their support.

I waited until 12 weeks with my first and hope I can do the same now, but I heard you show earlier with the 2nd.
I had to tell my boss and another exec at work bc we were supposed to travel to a place with high Zika risk, I hadn't even considered that until I got my BFP and looked it up.
Otherwise I hope people will just think something, even whisper to each other if they want, but not ask me directly. I don't mind them knowing or suspecting, I just don't want to have to communicate bad news over and over in case something happens.
Luckily, since I work in disability services and with counselors, I work with a pretty supportive group of folks. They really carried me through my losses last spring. I will probably tell everyone else once we make it to 12 weeks.

I work nights, and only overlap a few minutes in the morning with my bosses once every few months. I probably could go until I am showing/ the other few on nights start to notice.
However, come summers, I am often dealing with very heavy lifting, and would prefer not to dump on them as the work is assigned to me that I am unable to do it. Also, training someone into my position for my maternity leave, especially if brought in from outside the company, would take a couple months.
My annual review is in the next couple weeks, and I am prepared to ask for a raise. I was considering letting them know then, but I really would rather the focus be on my performance.
