How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? C is 2 in August (DS)
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? We have been trying for 15 months so I'm just grateful and excited.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: We just found out we have an opportunity to stay in our current house/town for another 4 years instead of moving in a year and it would be so nice not to move with a 4-6 month old and a almost 3 year old.
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: Today is the first day with some of the real symptoms. With C, I had morning sickness until 18 weeks and it sucked. I've been super tired this past week too. So I'm looking forward to the joys of the first trimester with an active toddler boy.
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I dunno why but I kind of want another boy... I've always been a tomboy and I kind of like that I know some of what to expect with another boy. At the end of the day, DH and I just want a healthy baby.
I just found out I'm pregnant ..and I have an 8 month old I'd like to continue breastfeeding as well. Can you keep me posted on how you're doing with it ? I'm so worried I'm going to run out before she's 1. Thanks and Good luck !
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? DD is 19 months
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? I'm also having some worries around nursing. I'm still nursing DD, and seem to be developing a nursing aversion. Its not painful...but I just don't like the feeling. The thought of weaning overwhelms me a bit (from an emotional standpoint) because DD is still very attached to nursing. I haven't decided if I want to tandem nurse or not, and my "goal" has really always been for her to wean when she is ready. Part of me is hoping that she will self-wean when my milk supply decreases, but part of me will also be sad if that happens. Such conflicting emotions!
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: I'm so excited for tiny baby snuggles again!
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: This is NBR, but is it possible to tag people on mobile? So far when I try, I can tag a person and then it won't let me write anything else. What am I doing wrong?
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I would be thrilled with either! But I have a very strong feeling that this baby is a boy. My grandfather passed away shortly before we found out we were expecting again (we found out on the day of his funeral), and I guess I've taken that as a "sign" (and also as a comfort).
@whippet_love my DS1 was about the same age when I got pregnant with DS2 and he did end up self-weaning around the 8th month of my pregnancy. It was actually super painless and easy, as I hadn't been really offering the boob (except before bed) for a while and just feeding him when he asked (morning, throughout the day, naps), and he sort of gradually stopped asking. Skipping a few feedings here and there until I realized we were basically only nursing at night when I offered. So I stopped offering, he asked everyday, then every other/every few, and then not at all. It was--for me--the best possible way to wean so emotionally easy, no engorgement, etc. I had wanted to tandem nurse, so I was slightly disappointed, but ultimately, he really weaned himself which had been my ultimate goal all along. Whatever you decide I hope it's super easy for you and DD!
Re: tagging. Once I tag someone on mobile the cursor does seem to disappear, but if I retap the text box and hit space I can usually start typing again. Hope that makes sense?
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@KatieEl - thank you so much for sharing your experience with weaning your DS1! It sounds like it was a really gentle and gradual process. I really appreciate your encouragement! Also thanks for explaining the tagging! I'm on mobile now and it worked!
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Zoe will be 3 in August.
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? Not sure how Zoe will react to the baby. She's excited now, but she'll have 3.5 years of being an only and she is super cuddly/clingy. I foresee issues with sharing and attention.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: I feel great so far. Waiting for exhaustion to set in, if this time is anything like the first.
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions:
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? DH wants a boy and Zoe insists on a sister (and that the baby is a girl). I don't have a preference but a girl would be easier since we have the stuff. Seasons are totally opposite though.
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Two boys, 6 and 3
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? I know the kids will be thrilled to have another sibling but I'm a little worried about how I'll handle three.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: MH and I are just so happy. We have always wanted three kids and it took about six months to get pregnant. I'm so excited to be able to tell the kids! I think we'll wait until end of first tri.
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: Figuring out where to put the new baby in our three bedroom place is a puzzle. I think we'll put my boys together but they do not sleep well in the same room. Lots of shenanigans! I'm hoping if we move them in together over the summer they will get over the novelty by the time school starts again in the fall?
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I would love a daughter but I have a feeling I am destined to be a mom of three boys.
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Two girls, 7 and 3
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? My 3 year old is going through a particularly clingy phase right now.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions:
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? No, at this point really just hoping this will be our rainbow.
@whippet_love and @KatieEl Thank you for this exchange! My DD is also 19 months and very much a boob baby. While she doesn't nurse often anymore, it still clearly feeds an emotional need for her, so I have a lot of emotions about the whole process--it's more painful and exhausting now (at night especially) but I also love the bonding. Your experience gives me hope weaning will happen when it needs to and won't be painful emotionally for either of us!
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Nora is 16 months as of yesterday
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? I have no idea how I will manage a toddler and a newborn, but trying not to think about it right now. The terrible 2's have started early for us, so just trying to survive each day with my little munchkin.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: I can't wait to have a belly again I miss it!
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions:
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? DH and I would both prefer a girl, since we know what to expect, but obviously our #1 wish is a happy baby!
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? Caleb will be 12 this fall, Shelby will be 2 in July
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? So. Dang. Tired.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: My OB has been great so far! Lots of positive thoughts for a sticky baby!
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: My progestrone level came back at a 10.73, sooo suppositories it is.
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I'm leaning towards girk, only because we won't have to buy many clothes/shoes/accessories.

I'm worried about my DS adjusting too. He'll be nearly 5 when this little comes along. That's the same space between my mother and my aunt and my mom was/is SO resentful of her. She remembers not getting as much attention and doesn't have a good relationship with her sister. I don't want my sweet boy to feel that way. :'(
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? My son, Nate, is 4 months old.
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? I know that there's a very good chance the new baby will be completely different from my magical unicorn baby who is (mostly) super chill and started sttn about a month after he was born. So, I'm worried that I'm not as prepared as I think I am, even though I'm planning rolling with the punches as they come.
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: I'm so excited that Nate is going to have a brother or sister to grow up with! I never had a sibling and even though DH has two half brothers, they're both 5+ years older than he is. So I'm glad Nate will get the chance to grow up with (hopefully) a lifelong buddy.
Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: To current moms with more than one child: how difficult is the transition from one baby to two?
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why?
I'm kind of hoping for a little girl. Of course I'll be happy with whatever I get, but I'm currently outnumbered and I need some backup!
@LCartee2016 I didn't think the transition was bad at all. There was one really rough 4 day period about a week in to the baby being home when my toddler (27 mo at the time) regressed in terms of tantrums and also kept begging me to send the baby back to.the hospital. Other than that he mostly treated him with indifference for the first 8 months or so. He's tell me when he was crying, give him a kiss before bed, but otherwise couldn't have cared less. Right around 8 months they both got more interested in each other and now they're buds; I love it!
DS1: Nov. 2013 DS2: Jan. 2016 DS3: Dec. 2017 Baby #4 on the way!
@LCartee2016, it went well here, too. DD1 was nearly 3 and a half and started preschool and dance two weeks after DD2 was born. I'm sure that helped, it gave her new and exciting things to look forward to.
The only challenge for me was nap time. DD1 still napped, but only if I rocked her to sleep. There were days when they both needed me at the same time; DD1 usually got the shaft and wasn't always happy about it. Overall, though, she's the best big sister in the world.
How old are your other kids (Share names if you would like)? DD, E, will be 2 next month
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now? Not really yet. We have a lot of big life changes happening next year so I'm just trying to go with the flow of life.

GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I'd prefer a girl because I adore the idea of E having a sister. And to reuse things we already have. DH really wants a boy. Since I'm AMA we will do the genetic testing that will tell us the sex early.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: My FI makes boys. haha. So I'm figuring we'll have a boy, so I'm excited to have a best friend for my little man.

Yes, I know. Every pregnancy is different but still. haha
GTKY: Do you have a preference for a boy/girl this time around? Why? I wan't a girl. I'll likely have a boy, and I've made my peace with it. That way I don't have any gender disappointment, but I'd love a little lady that I could teach my makeup techniques and get super matchy matchy with. haha.
