  • @miranda21037 - I mentioned that i am doing a beta test cause we did IVF. The transfer was on 5/10, and the beta is 10 days later on Saturday 5/20. But, i "cheated" and tested early with hpts and got my bfp on mother's day. i waited to make sure the lines were getting darker and darker (and darker!) to post my intro on here...i haven't really participated in the other weekly threads; i'm waiting for the "official" result from the beta to do that, for some reason...lol
  • @zamora_spin my collection is getting ridiculous, Im thinking I should make something of them, maybe like a mobile? Pee stick Mobile?

@miranda21037 I just LOL'd at pee stick mobile.

Have my first US tomorrow at 7+5. I have been SO excited about this appointment. But then I got an alert in my calendar this morning that I have a wellness visit plus shots for DD AT THE SAME TIME. Ahhhh!! What to do? Reschedule DD's appointment (that I scheduled months ago)? Or reschedule my US? The decision is killing me!
  • @miranda21037 just make sure they're dry first ;)

@cyanope which one do you think would be easier to reschedule? Personally, my clinic is really hard to get into so it'd be easier to make a new appointment for DD.
  • cyanopecyanope member
They're both easy to reschedule, @schaze. I'm more worried about staying on schedule for DD's shots. She's 16 months, and these are her 15 month shots, so we're already behind (we put off her 9 month shots because she was sick, so that has pushed all of the other ones back). Any STM's have advice about vaccination scheduling? Would putting it off a couple of weeks make a huge difference? I'm just worried I'm being selfish because I really want to see this baby!
  • @cyanope I literally would not be able to wait to have the US because my anxiety is so bad, but if you are more laid back, reschedule that one... the more they grow, the more there is to see!

@EmilyLove25, I let DH make the decision. I totally thought he would think DD's shots were the priority, but he wants to see this tiny one as much as I do...so we're sticking to the US, and rescheduling DD's appointment for next Friday. I'm relieved he agreed with me, because there is NO way I could have calmly waited until next week for the US. I get to see this baby tomorrow!
    Edited to tag.
  • @hunt_adventure_society Awesome news! So happy for you!
  • Have been waiting on second beta and the midwife called me herself. 13 dpo = hCG 36.5, 15 dpo = hCG 50. The midwife said I am progressing fine and the numbers look good and she would see me in six weeks for an ultrasound (yikes, that is a long time). After I got off the phone with her though I calculated and they seem on the very low end of viability so I am not as relieved as I had hoped to be... I guess I should just try to put it aside and be happy, right?
  • @zamora_spin Yes! Be relieved. Those numbers are just fine!

  • Had my beta drawn this morning and just heard from my nurse...beta is 183 (at 10dp5dpt)! Going back on Monday for #2!
  • @WildMagelet wow, I'm sorry your RE's office communicated like that and gave you potentially unnecessary worries. I have everything crossed for fantastic growth and a clear heartbeat next week!

  • @WildMagelet I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Your reaction sounds just like mine would be-even though you KNOW your cycle light years better than them, it's hard when everyone expects O on CD 14. Definitely FX for you. I think those are all very promising signs with how much you could see so early!

  • @remindmeofthebabe @EmilyLove25 - Thanks ladies!

I'm just going to try and relax, focus on SKs (they both have graduations this weekend, one 8th grade and one HS), and keep the positive vibes going!  Thursday afternoon won't come soon enough!

Well, I had my first official appointment today and it was just meh. I'm currently shopping for OB's and I don't think this place is going to make the cut. They were attached to a hospital and very impersonal. I felt like I was going through the cafeteria line.

The midwife I saw was just ok. She's asked me about if I would get a vaccine for the baby at 36 weeks and I said no, we're not doing vaccines and she looked shocked and said that's going to be a problem in getting a pediatrician and finding a school. I've done research and I know in my area there are plenty of options for pediatric care and schools which don't require vaccines. And honestly, I respect either decision - I'm not really one to debate about vaccines, but have decided not to do it with my kid. And it's fine that she recommends them, but it was a lack of respect of my viewpoint and she kept asserting it was a problem. Anyway, she also rolled/twisted my nipples several times during my breast exam which I just thought was weird. That's never happened before and was not comfortable.

Plus, all the Dr's in that clinic are dudes and I'd rather have a girl OB.

Oh well. At least they are giving me another US in a week so that's something.
  • My OB traditionally doesn't see patients until they're after 8 weeks, and only does u/s (other than the a/s) if there's a concern. At my post op after the loss she told me she'd handle my next pregnancy however I want, if I want to come in every week, regular u/s, whatever. I haven't decided what I want yet. I actually haven't even called her yet.

With the loss pregnancy I spent 10 weeks on pins and needles, seeing her every other week and going for an u/s every other week. I'm kinda afraid to even have to walk back into that office.

  • @caeilievalor Just wanted to chime in about the nipple thing... what on earth? I seriously can't imagine WHY she did that? Do you have to go back to her?

  • @remindmeofthebabe, @zamora_spin Honestly, I will need to do more research on the whole vaccine thing before making a final decision, but I am leaning to no with the knowledge I have. So as far as a health issue - I definitely need more information.

As far as logistics, in my area - it really isn't a problem. There are many Dr's here who support not vaccinating and there are schools who allow it as well. Maybe not public schools, but there are several private schools that it's not an issue in. I know two families in the last 6 months who have moved here from California specifically because they did not want to vaccinate their kids. And countless others who already live here who do not vaccinate.

The real problem with the midwife was her approach. She was just too assertive and not helpful in giving information, etc.

@EmilyLove25 She said that I needed to do that to raise the center of the nipple so the kid can latch on better...but I don't know. My nipples are not inverted or anything. There's definitely something already there to latch onto... :expressionless:
  • @remindmeofthebabe Thanks! I'll definitely check into those. Jenny McCarthy is not an opinion leader for me either, haha! (Although I did love Singled Out. )
