@antoto oh I agree, I dont think it needs to be the 12 month mark, which is why I added the part about how the 'within a specific time' instead of 'within 12 months', because it can vary based on age, diagnosis etc... Someone with a PCOS diagnosis most likely (again, depending on their doctor) would be defined as IF after 6 months of trying, whereas someone with azoospermia is likely to be diagnosed as IF within the first month (although they likely wouldnt know after 1 month unless it was #2 or something). But again, I think you would be hard-pressed to have most doctors say 'you are infertile' with normal bloodwork and mildly cystic ovaries 3 months after stopping BC. But what do I know, I play with puppies for a living.
Without saying anything else: @heatherdubrow : and let's just leave it at that.
@saralee797-2 I can see how that must be difficult to go through.. 19 sounded so reassuring. Hope you got some answers since from your doc and have a new plan. FX that this is working out for you at the end and it is just a rocky start.

Truth. That B on 16 & Pregnant/ Teen Mom Maci Bookout has NIR PCOS and she has had THREE oopsie babies. THREE. I'm going to go punch some pillows right now.
What.
Good thing I already had a drink in my hand reading that.
*TW* Just yesterday I read an article on FB about a woman who had her tubes ties and still got KU. In my head I just imagined how satisfying it would be to take a baseball bat to my iPad.
In other news, I have totally been self medicating with food, plus post ER bloat = fat pants. Oh and my boobs are gigantic from the progesterone which means my shirts are tight. I literally feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow lady.
@saralee797-2 Gurl my boobs feel like bowling balls covered in bruises. I.e. They hurt a lot.

So, at the encouragement of @adirat and @LoveInDC, I'm tentatively posting here for the first time.
Diagnosis (If you've been): PCOS (years ago, but the doctor I just saw also agrees)
Cycle/CD: Cycle 6, CD39
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Waiting for either O (for LP blood work) or AF (for CD3 blood work), also seeing my naturopath again next week to see if there is anything she thinks we should tweak
How are things going? I know it's a bit early for worrying, but given that I've had a previous diagnosis of PCOS, now that we are trying and my cycles are getting longer, it seemed smart to at least get the blood work started. I don't have a family doctor, so am doing it out of a walk in clinic at the moment; she said that if something were to come up in the blood work, she would refer me to an OBGYN. Of course, taking that step is messing with my head/emotions, and DH doesn't seem to get it at all.
Any questions? I know that PCOS doesn't equate an IF dx, but it's also not a great dx. Any general advice? @LoveInDC I know you mentioned you've been dealing with it. Also, I know there are different types of PCOS - is there anything that I should be doing just to start, without knowing what all my dx entails?
GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again? Cleaning the bathroom - there's just something about that that is so gross.
Also - I did read through this whole thread (and last week's, since @adirat pointed out the discussion on PCOS) - there is so much going on, I can't tag everyone but I want to say that every one of you are warriors, and you're freaking awesome xo
@Sailing_Mama Dr. Google will tell you lots of conflicting things about PCOS and its types. Things that could only help you would include:
Increasing exercise (snack after you work out) and losing weight/lowering body fat to around 20-25%.
Changing your diet. Paleo is a popular one. Either way, focus on foods with a low glycemic index and cutting dairy as much as you can.
Taking deep breaths and focusing on your mental health as you start this journey.
Obviously your doc will give you more specific suggestions based on your BW. Whether you have insulin concerns or not will change things a bit. Refrain from falling down the rabbit hole too much. There's a lot of information out there. Not all of it is trustworthy or will help you. Plus, you can only do so much in a few short weeks. We're here to answer any questions you think of along the way

@Sailing_Mama I remember you from the dailies (from back when I was doing them at all). Girl, you've always been such a kind support, so sorry that you find yourself here. But happy to see you tbh Hope you find answers with the doc soon and that your pcos can be taken under control fast. @eggplantface@saralee797-2 did you temp or use opks after trigger? Of course I tested my trigger this morning to verify I have a good batch of wondfos but my temp was high this morning wasn't sure if it was from the trigger or that it was super hot last night. I'm sure my OPK will be positive from the trigger. Just didn't know if I'm wasting my time trying to track O now and if I should just assume it's tomorrow cause it will be 36 hours (I triggered at 730 last night and have IUI at 730 tom morning). Any other tips from anyone for tomorrow? I'm a little nervous!
@Sailing_Mama sorry to see you here but glad that you felt comfortable coming over and sharing! Although I don't have any info about PCOS I just wanted to say we are here for you and this is an awesome group of supportive women!
@Sailing_Mama I'm sorry you find yourself here, but welcome! I don't have PCOS so I can't really help with that. I just know this is a great group to be part of so I'm sure others will have advice.
AFM Another follicle check today and then I'll find out when the egg retrieval is. I can't believe how fast this has all happened, considering how slow it has felt.
@LoveInDC@heatherdubrow@Anna_1021@beachbunnyxo123@leekat14 Thank you for such kind words - it's an amazing community in here, and as much as everyone is dealing with awful situations, there is so much positivity. You guys really give me hope, especially at such an emotional time.
I really appreciate the tips - I'm probably going to drink too much wine this weekend (it is a long weekend, after all) and then really start to make some changes. I know DH will be supportive about eating better, and this is a good incentive to get back to the gym more. And I'll probably ask a million questions along the way - it's a bit frustrating, now that I've taken the step to talk to the doctor, and have the order for the blood work... I've got to wait for CD3, and AF is no where in sight!
Uhm. Wut. I disappear for a bit and come back to flames. I think I missed something vital. Since when did being IF become a cool person's club that everyone wants to join? Because fuck that, someone can have my membership.

@beachbunnyxo123 I tested out my trigger once using wondfo hpts and found it was out of my system well before I would consider testing. I've heard you can use OPKs to test for HCG but I have not tried it. I temped once on a medicated cycle and it seemed like my temps were within my normal range but I was not on progesterone. I have seen medications mess with other ladies' temps so I would be wary of that. Honestly, it depends on your personality. If you think you could chill by not temping and just assuming O and your usual LP, do it! How did your trigger shot go?
@leekat14 I know what you mean. It is like all this waiting and then the stim part seems to fly. I have my FX for lots of follies!! GL!
@leekat14 So much of IF and IVF is hurry up and wait! It'll slow down again after the retrieval when you're like "just put it in me already!" (giggity). Let us know how the scan goes!

@saralee797-2 and @eggplantface I was so happy to hear about the needle break after the retrieval! Scan showed 4 good ones on the left and 1questionable one on the right. Trigger sat night and Sunday morning for retrieval Monday morning.
A couple questions....is there any chance more follicles grow? And what do I need to know about the egg retrieval? Will I be able to work the next day? I have a 2 hour car ride home, how awful will that be?
@leekat14 This isn't very sciency but I understand that the trigger helps the eggs mature and release. I was told it gives them one final boost so they could grow/mature as a result of the trigger but you also have those two days for any close ones to catch up too. So, it is possible.
As for the ER, I took off the day of mine and the day after. I was told 80% of people go back to work the next day. Personally, I was glad to have the second day to recover and I did take an hour + nap in the middle of the day. I probably could have worked from home though. Keep in mind too I was hit around 19 times with the needle so I was pretty sore. I felt much better the second day and even better still the third. Up until yesterday, I could feel soreness if my bladder got really full. As for the day of, my H was there to drive me home and the drugs definitely left me loopy and tired. They give you tylenol or pain meds right away so I wasn't in too much pain by the time we walked out of there. If you have to drive yourself home, I bet they would keep you longer to make sure you were okay. I was told I was not allowed to drive.
In terms of what to expect, we checked in, signed paperwork, met the doc then I got changed into a gown, socks and hair net. My H was with me up until the time I walked into the surgery room. Then, someone came in to do the IV and start fluids. After that, the anesthesiologist came by to go over some things and let me know what to expect. When I got into the room, they had me get into position on the table and put oxygen/meds in my nose. I immediately started to feel relaxed from the drugs. They wanted me to get into position so they could adjust the stirrups and make sure I was comfortable. I remained covered the whole time. The embryologist came in to identify me. The last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist turning my head to the side and me saying "I feel woozy" then I was out. I woke up and they moved me to recovery where my H met me - this part was real blurry. I felt kinda drunk. They gave me snacks, ginger ale and tylenol. The doc came in to tell me how many were retrieved and that I would hear tomorrow about fertilization. I had to pee before I could leave and then I was allowed to change and leave. Definitely bring loose, comfy clothing to change into. I spent the rest of the day in bed. Overall, it really was not that bad at all IMO! Let me know if you have other questions.
@leekat14 Yes, your follies continue to grow 1-2mm per day up until the egg retrieval, so the questionable one can catch up, and others may grow as well. On my last scan before ER I had 3 huge ones on one ovary, and 1 on the other, and they ended up getting 5 eggs; 3 were mature.
About the ER I can just share my experience, but everyone's is different: It was similar to a surgery, where they give you an IV and you lay in a bed in a gown waiting to be brought back. I walked back to the room for the procedure, and the anesthesiologist gave me something to relax me which was awesome. Best part of the whole thing.
Next thing I remember is waking up and saying "Is it over?" I have no idea how I got back to the original bed I was in, whether I walked or they wheeled me. Then we had to wait about an hour for the anesthesia to wear off enough so I could walk out.
I was in a lot of pain afterward from cramping. I mean a LOT. They gave me Extra Strength Tylenol and said "That'll kick in about 45 minutes" and I was like "Yeah, that's not good enough." So they offered me Fentanyl which scared me, so she gave me a "baby dose" to "take the edge off" and it did. I still had pain but it wasn't crippling. They also gave me heating pads. Then we walked out. The Tylenol kicked in in the car on the way home and I felt almost normal. I needed just one more dose 4 hours later, then the cramping stopped.
Others report soreness in the vagina from the ER, but I didn't have that. I wonder if that's because I only had 5 eggs taken out, as opposed to my friend, e.g., who had 19, so considerably more needle pokes down there.
So get some Tylenol and heating pads for when you get home. The car ride will be ok, just try to lie back in the seat and tell your husband to be slow on turns and don't slam on the brakes! I took the day off the next day but felt fine. The day after that I was back at work and felt awful, but I think that was more related to the withdrawal from all the hormones (I was doing a frozen transfer so no more drugs for a bit).
Will you have another scan tomorrow before trigger?

Originally i wanted to post that I'll be dropping off the face of the Earth for 5 days - and as opposed to what's been going on fro months, this time i'll do it for the best reason ever: looong weekeng getaway with DH
But with so much milestones going on here these days i doubt i'll be able to resist checking in for updates
GL for all and please post updates as soon as you are ready!
AFM: i am at the last days of my cycle. Feel bummed already, hope this trip takes my mind off all the waiting (eh, well at least as much as it is possible). The doc upped my after IUI progesterone dose (due to still spotting a bit last cycle) so again i have no idea if my period would come on its own until i stop taking P. Anyhow, AF should arrive around monday so we'll see. It would be like the perfect timing for so many reasons if this iui would take... Eh. Try to wait patiently i guess that is the best i can do now..
Married: May 2015
TTC since September 2015
@juneroseruby Hugs, friend. That is so much to deal with. You just standing through it all makes you a superhero.
@saralee797-2 Good luck today!
@Anna_1021 I'm so glad you meditated again! And thanks so much for your post and encouragement. I've been traveling for work and running around crazy, but when I saw your post, it reminded me to take care of myself first, and I found 10 minutes to meditate in my hotel room. I've now had 2 days of meditation, and plan on keeping it up this weekend. FX for you this cycle. I hope you have a good weekend getaway that takes your mind off the TWW.
@leekat14 @ladymillil Good luck to both you ladies!!
AFM: BFN yesterday morning and the morning before. Stopped progesterone (the one perk of this). Spotting. I'm out. You can find me drowning in a glass of wine tonight.
