This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but
have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your
thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long
journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with
infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to
infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make
this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another.
Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have
something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again? I really dislike washing windows (and my house currently needs it). We hired a cleaning crew about a year ago and I swear it is the best money we spend. It look my H and I like 4 hours to clean the whole house one Saturday and that is when we both caved. We both work really hard so it is nice to have the time to enjoy ourselves on the weekend

Well, all my blood work is finally in. My AMH is low for my age. (.89 and I'm 32). Also elevated TSH and antibodies to my thyroid indicative of early Hashimotos. Yikes all that was a blow. Next month is IUI and the RE says 3 IUI cycles is all she would recommend before getting more aggressive. Saw an endo Friday who made me relax about thyroid stuff. Mostly lifestyle and monitoring at this point. Have to decide of I want a low dose of synthroid. He suggested it for TTC purposes but respected that I wanted to do some research first
Any questions? Any info on low AMH or Hashimotos would be appreciated. I'm looking into lifestyle changes for sure but anything else anyone is willing to share I am all ears.

@heatherdubrow I'm doing paleo with an exception for whole grains. I'm also supplementing with pea protein shakes and daily yoga. I absolutely hate how restricted my diet feels, but I'm enjoying the yoga and finding some happy places within the realm of paleo. *shrug* I'm glad everything is smooth sailing for you right now! @LadyMillil yuck. Im so sorry the side effects have been so rough... (((hugs))) our office has an explicit no kids policy in writing in the very first bit of pw they send you... maybe worth giving them some feedback on that? :/
@heatherdubrow I am right there with you on emptying the dw. It's like I cook, I clean up, I wash the things by hand, I stash the leftovers, RUN the dw... I feel like it's the least DH could do to say tku for all that but... it never happens :p
Diagnosis (If you've been): AMA, MFI
Cycle/CD: 25 months, doing FET prep
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): IVF, FET prep
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF, FET prep
How are things going? There's not much to do this week, a shot tomorrow and another on Friday. Yesterday my mom asked if this didn't work would we do another ER, and I said yes, and she goes "Oh, to make him happy?" meaning my husband. She says things like this that irk me sometimes, because she knows we're having kids because my husband wants kids, but is it so terrible for a wife to have children because she loves her husband and wants to make him happy? Sometimes she acts like I'm betraying the sisterhood by "giving in" to my husband's "demands." In reality H would leave it up to me to decide since I'm the one going through it, and yes, I want to do it again. Sometimes her discovery of girl power so late in life is really annoying because she doesn't get the nuance that feminism = women get to make their own choices. She seems to think feminism = never dealing with men ever.
Any questions?

@heatherdubrow glad to hear you're still feeling good!!
@LadyMillil ugh sorry you haven't been feeling well with the stims! And you're right about babies being at the RE! A lot of clinics have rules about that!

I keep thinking about what @adirat has said about the antibodies and CM I forget how she explained it exactly. Sorry for the tmi but when me and DH have sex it burns when he finishes and I read something online about incompatibility and semen allergy last night and it was the first time I've ever seen anything like that. I never really thought anything of it because we've obviously been tested and everything is fine and it never was like a UTI or anything goes away after about an hour. Anyhow I might ask my doc on Thursday. I've never done a post coital test and I don't know if he would but if this was a possibility I read that since they wash the sperm for an IUI it helps.
GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again?

@WillRunForWine21 Sorry for the bummer test results. I hope this new knowledge will help you do what you need to do to get your body in a good place to get KU.
@heatherdubrow I'll have my down regulation next Monday as well!
@eggplantface Ugh that was a real jerk comment for your mom to make. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again? Ummmmm if all the dog fur in my house would be magically disappeared the second it left my dogs bodies that would be great.
@eggplantface those two ideas of feminism get me every time. My MIL has made many insensitive comments in the name of "feminism" that were just meant to bully me into her way of thinking. It's like actuallllyyyy this whole thing is that I make choices for myself and family and don't have to answer to you. Thanks.

Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Cycle/CD: Triggering tonight
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): I guess WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF
How are things going? Things are going ok! I am triggering tonight and retrieval is set for Wed am and I am really happy to be moving onto the next phase. My Dr. wouldn’t give me a super straight answer about how many follicles I had, but she said “very good, better than expected for your AMH, we expect to be able to retrieve more than 10” So I guess I am happy with that. I feel terrible though because tonight DH is getting sworn in to the Cinematographer’s Union and I need to be home to trigger and the thought of him swearing in with no one to take pictures and be happy for him makes me really sad ( I think it’s also the hormones).
Any questions? None that I can think of you all have been wealth of knowledge just being you!
GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again? LAUNDRY. @saralee797-2 I'm so glad to hear you responded well to your meds and that you're going forward with the ER today! So many FX for all the follies!
@WillRunForWine21 I'm sorry about all your new medical info. I do think that it's common for both partners to have some issue (like 30% of all IF couples I think), but that is definitely still a huge blow because more things to "fix". I think I'm doing 3 IUIs before going on to IVF too. The stats for IUI go down a lot after 3. I don't have any advice but I'm sorry you're going through all this.
@LadyMillil Sorry about your side effects.
@eggplantface Dude I'm so with you on the older lady feminism confusion. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't, and that generation of women doesn't get it AT ALL. I have had that problem with other older women, but not my mom thankfully--that would be so much more frustrating to get it from your mom. Ugh. Thinking lots of good thoughts for your upcoming FET!
@beachbunnyxo123 Hope things go well this week and that you get to trigger at HOME!
@antoto Yay for going off BCP!
@MrsJ2410 GL with the ER! That sucks about missing YHs swearing in. Does YH have any friends that can go in your place and take pics for you? Congrats to him either way!

@eggplantface Oh that is not a nice comment from your mom. Can't you talk to her about these remarks. My mom means well but she can be insensitive sometimes. What works for me is telling her straight up ehy is it not okay thing to say..

@WillRunForWine21 Sorry for the bad news.. hopefully they can fix your tsh fast.
Gotta go, will be back later with more and my post
Married: May 2015
TTC since September 2015
I'm a little lost on where we will go from here. There is a chance that our one egg may be a rockstar but if not we are going to try and do this one more time. We did set up a second opinion consultation with another doctor at the practice and it will be interesting to hear his thoughts. If after 4 rounds we still have nothing we will need to make some decisions on what comes next. Do we stop treatments and go about our lives? Do we consider donor eggs? I think I was feeling better about the idea of not having children until yesterday. All the images and posts about the glory of motherhood definitely influenced me. I think we will be seeking some counseling to help us make those decisions but it won't be easy.
@saralee797-2 I hope your ER went well today. Be sure to rest today.
@willrunforwine21 I too have super low AMH (.22) and while I don’t have any great advice my focus has been taking some supplements (CoQ10, DHEA) and trying to do low sugar and low caffeine to help with egg quality. With my reserve so low I need all the eggs I have to be as good as they can get. I also made a lot of lifestyle changes especially with body products and cosmetics. A good resource for all this is the book It Starts With the Egg. Good luck my friend.
2017 - egg retrieval #1 - 3 eggs, 0 embryos appropriate for transfer; ER #2 2 eggs, 0 embryos on day 3; ER #3 1 egg 0 embryos

Take a look at my blog
@antoto Does your update mean you had the mammogram?
@leekat14 How are the meds treating you?
@Anna_1021 My problem is I never think about what I really want to say until either we've moved on from the topic or I've thought about it later and realized what I should have said. But now that I know it's on her mind I'm sure she'll bring it up again and I can address it.

@saralee797-2 Good luck with the ER today!
@WillRunForWine21 My AMH is also very low, 0.39 at age 34. My RE actually wasn't that concerned about it because I'm still having regular cycles and ovulating every month (plus we have bigger issues right now). From what I understand it's not an exact science and should also be interpreted along with Antral follicle count (by ultrasound). It can also mean that the response to stims may not be great or we may need higher doses etc.
@LadyMillil I was shocked the first time I saw babies at the REs office. Even my DH who is usually not bothered by anything leaned over and whispered to me 'aren't they kind of rubbing it in everyone's faces'. Hope you feel better soon and the rest of this process goes smoothly for you.
@MrsJ2410 All the best for the ER on Wednesday!

Cycle/CD: Cycle 35 (womp, womp), CD8

GTKY: If you could get out of doing 1 chore/errand for the rest of your life, what would you never do again?
I actually don't do chores.... H does. I work five days a week and he works 3 (as a nurse). Not that he does less, at all, but I just get home the same time as him since I almost always work late, so he just is at home more than I. I do cook though! But if I had to take all the chores back and had a chore to give away, I would say laundry. HATE laundry.

ER#2 ~Jan 2019
@laurad75 Ugh that stinks. I hope a different protocol can get you better results. I'm sorry mother's day was so hard -- it was for me too and it's just so unfair the wonderful ladies like you who have to deal with this again and again.
@WillRunForWine21 I have low amh for my age and hypothyroid. My amh responded quite a bit to the egg quality lifestyle changes in It Starts with the Egg but sadly it's something I'll always have to deal with and essentially I'll have a foreshortened fertile period in my life. For thyroid -- It's your choice if you don't want to take drugs but what's your tsh? Because a high tsh substantially increases your risk of miscarriage. Like doubles/triples it. My endocrinologist told me that I need to keep my tsh under 2.5 and t4 in normal range to have a successful pregnancy. She expressly told me not to ttc if my tsh was over 5 and my RE won't do medicated cycles if tsh is over 10. I'd been on levoxyl for more than a year before we started ttc and I can tell you I'm so glad I monitored the changes during ttc and pregnancy because the mc risk and risk of birth defects is very real.
@eggplantface Ugh that's so frustrating. I also didn't want kids until I had been with DH for a long time. For me a lot of it is wanting a family with him. It's not acquiescing to a man. It's seeing a different life with him and kids in it.
@loveindc I'm glad your diet is helping because it sounds like a real drag! Excited for your clomid cycle.
Echoing @safire3 -- I hope our IVF ladies have a mass exodus from this thread soon!
Afm -- nothing to report. Still benched. Still debating ttc versus ivf + pgd. Had a horrible weekend of crying and missing our little wiggler. Anybody else REAL glad those sappy mother's day commercials are over?
@kristokekerooni Yay surgery! I'll be crossing my fingers for you guys over the next few months!
@KristoKekerooni Nice to see you and I'm glad the surgery went well! I see CNY mentioned fairly often on the IF board if that helps?

@adirat I haven't talked to my RE about it yet I literally just saw something about it last night since I was googling causes for burning and it came up. I hope he's doing my US Thursday instead of the nurse so I can ask him. TW* But this is the crazy part- so I kept getting false positive first response hpts. To this day I have never seen a negative first response hpt, line or digital test. I even peed on one when I had a positive OPK and knew I was ovulating and it was still positive. I asked my RE and he had no idea why. He said it could've been a hormone thing (this was before all our testing) but even then couldn't say bevause it's only that brand I've never seen another brand be positive. so honestly I don't even know if my CP was actually even a CP since the only positive test was a first response and wondfo and clear blue were neg. my beta was also negative. So it's possible that I might not have even had a CP. so I literally have no idea. My head has been spinning over all of this last night! End TW*
