@vlagrl29 - Please start a healthy thread! I think many of us would benefit from that, myself especially!

@pumpkin0913 @MimoCa - Spoke to both my surgeon and my OB and neither of them are okay with Rx-ing meds to help with lining. I want to have a conversation with them about it to see what the risks are or why they don't want to go that route so that I can understand their stance medically.

@weareturtles - can lining get better on its own over time? I'm again so sorry about this turmoil.. did you get a chance to chat with your OB about continuing to see you in a subsequent pregnancy? (tears might help... lol)

My RE appointment went okay. I'm not 100% sure about how I feel about the doctor yet. I really liked the nurse though. Ultrasound looked good, no fibroids or cysts. Progesterone levels are really good.

@ladipale - I haven't brought up the topic yet, but I will in time... I don't know if lining can thicken over time, but I guess the question that exists is whether the scarring is too extensive, too deep to ever regenerate a lining or have scars reformed. Neither situation is good, but scarring reformation may be slightly better... It's completely messed up. So many frustrations came from that one doctor's crappy D&C on me...

@weareturtles - ugh ugh ugh! my first D&C was also botched. Retained tissue was actually all the tissue and my uterus was perforated in the process. but, thanks to a good pathologist it was caught early (they found fatty tissue in POC so knew I had a perforation) OB brought me in 2 days after my first D&C and did an ultrasound and confirmed tissue still there. awful. (yet I've stuck with this OB because she is such an amazing person)

ugh! @weareturtles - how frustrating that a doctor did that to you - I've heard pomegranate juice can also thicken the lining but I'm not sure how well those home remedies work.

@weareturtles and @ladipale As if going through all this isn't rough enough, having a botched D&C is like extra pain and suffering. Sorry you guys have to deal with that as well.

@weareturtles have you tried or heard of castor oil packs? They might be a little too hippy dippy for you but it might be worth a shot. The idea is that castor oil can be absorbed through the skin and helps to loosen up adhesions and scar tissue. There are no medical studies on it however. I did get KU the first cycle I tried it, but it could have just been a fluke. just thought that is throw it out there.

@weareturtles @ladipale I honestly don't know how some OB's can continue to do the procedure after performing so badly. That's scary.

I actually read this the other day - perhaps it's worth trying? Not sure if it falls into that "hippy dippy" category (it's someone's personal experience), but I don't think it could hurt if you wanted to try it. In summary, you drink pomegranate juice (as suggested by @vlagrl29) and red raspberry leaf tea alongside taking vitamin E and vitamin B complex supplements.

@silvergreen - honestly? Mine was an honest mistake by OB and she feels terrible about the whole thing. The first time they do a D&C - they do it 'blind' (no ultrasound) and for most women, that is just fine.. but my uterus lays in a funky position in my body and does some weird turn, hence the perforation (likely with the dilator thingy) and missing the POC. My OB was shocked it happened and super apologetic.... And we are all human

@ladipale You're right. I guess I distrust a lot of doctors due to my own previous experiences. I would be traumatized if something like that happened to me, and potentially made it difficult or impossible to have children.

@silvergreen - totally makes sense. I was lucky and that my injury wasn't bad and by the time I had my 2nd procedure a few days later the OB could see with the camera where the perforation was but could also tell it was mostly healed. Perfs can be bad when they also get into bladder of colon.. mine did NOT thank goodness. Ugh.

My husband and I both went to graduate school and are highly skilled - in what we are trained for. I get so irritated and frustrated when people think they can teach better than me or know more about water than I do (oh, so often!) and my husband sees the aftermath of people trying to write their own wills (AWFUL!) so we tend to put our trust in the docs since they are skilled and trained in that area. Its not easy to do - I am a googler.. but I've tried to reframe my googling to only peer reviewed journal articles and just ask my doctors tons and tons of questions - they seem to like that I ask them rather than try to self-diagnosis.

Anyway - I'm so not the norm, I know that

Good question. I didn't listen to my doctors tell me to just wait and everything would be fine, and insisted on following my HSG down to zero, which when that didn't happen and I didn't get my period for months after my MMC, I insisted on an ultrasound (which I am able to read), and I pointed out a large mass in my uterine wall to the doctor scanning me. That prompted a hysteroscopy to evaluate the mass, which was retained products of conception (removed at same time). (Mind you when I had the D&C, they said they would use an ultrasound before & after to make sure they got everything - ha! Liars!) At the time of the hysteroscopy, they also said they couldn't see one of my tubes and it was weird inside, so they had me do an HSG, which showed the asherman's (uterine adhesions). My uterus was pretty perfect before my D&C - I got KU on the first cycle going off BC. Now they don't know if I'll ever be able to get pregnant.

@sprkls8506 - in my case, the initial pathology report was the tip off. The fatty tissue the pathologist found was not expected. AND - pathologist also tries to count body parts (morbid, yes - sorry!) and could tell stuff was missing. So, OB had me come in and did a scan and saw the RPOC - it was actually most of the pregnancy still in tact. The really weird thing is I kind of knew something was off.. I had virtually no bleeding after the first D&C. Nothing. 2nd procedure was done with ultrasound guidance and was my procedure for the 2nd loss - I insisted they use ultrasound for the 2nd loss. In fact - one of the first things I asked my OB when I got pregnant was "If I lose this baby - do you promise to use ultrasound guidance for the D&C?" she promised

I have literally the best group of doctors... but I think a follow up ultrasound within two weeks is reasonable - or following HCG.
