I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow as well. If there is no progress, I'm going to ask to schedule an induction on my due date because I really don't want to go past my due date.
I have a 38w "pre op" tomorrow which will be my first since 35w. First time meeting the new doc and I'm hoping to negotiate a later backup cesarean date because the one currently scheduled at 39w makes no sense to me if cesarean isn't plan A.
Yay last appointment before due date today @bacorrea! I have an appointment and NST today. Hoping I've progressed from closed thick and high to something. I'll take anything really...
@WombThereItIs, a scheduled csection for plan B at 39 weeks does sound odd. I forget, is baby breech? I'm going for VBAC and mine is scheduled at 41 weeks.

@WombThereItIs what does your DH think about your C schedules at 39 weeks? I know after me, my moms 3 other csections were scheduled at 39 weeks, so I thought that was a thing.
@KMD1106 nope she is head down. Super head down if all this pelvic pain means anything!
@bacorrea I asked him and he said while it's been a few years since he's done OB he recalls that there is some literature out there that suggests earlier repeat cesareans are safer than those done later. I have a hunch though that maybe our planned move was part of the original thought process and now that we are back to square 1 maybe I can push things to 40. No idea though since I've never even met this doc before.
I'm going to my 38 week appt today! Hoping I have progessed past 1cm and 50% effaced from last week! I know it means nothing but it certainly helps my mental state! Lol
@WombThereItIs, unless there's another reason they don't think a vaginal delivery will happen, I would definitely push for moving it back. FX the new doctor is on board!

Appt for me today too! I think it's technically 38w appt but I'll be 39 on wed. I should get strep results and not sure if she'll do a cervical check as there was nothing happening yet last time. I was wondering... is there any point in checking if I haven't seen any type of mucous plug/bloody show? I know it doesn't tell you anything when you do see it but if you haven't seen it that means no progress right?
Today is my due date. Tomorrow I have an ultrasound and bpp scheduled to check growth and fluid levels. My fluid level has been skating the low end of the range so my doctor wants one final check. If all looks well an induction will be scheduled for next Monday (I would be 41 weeks).
@erinh2005 technically there's no point because it's not an indication of labor. You can be 1cm and go into labor that night or be 3 4 5 cm walking around working for another week. It helps Drs decide when your overdue what to do but before its not really anything. I was 3 cm dilated on Thursday still got baby in today but it's nice to know my body's doing something. Other women say no to them.
I'm going in today for my 39 week check and I think a sweep. Nothing was done last week because DH needed me to stay pregnant till Friday (*eye roll*) so I'm really hoping we can get things in gear this week.
@erinh2005 I think sometimes you can miss your mucus plug coming out, too, so unless you for sure saw it come out there's no way to know if it's in or not.
@WombThereItIs Hopefully you can move the c-section date out and this doctor is agreeable, now that your move plan is different.
Good luck to everyone getting cervical checks/membrane sweeps!
Breastfeeding class tonight, 38 week appointment on Friday and I want to ask for a cervical check if I'm still pregnant, because I can't believe I haven't dilated or effaced more (3cm, 70%) in almost 3 weeks by the point with all of this cramping and minicontractions (not BH).
I've got my 39 week check tomorrow, last appointment before my due date. I'm hoping for some sort of progression, more for peace of mind than anything else.
So many 38 and 39 wk appointments! Hard to believe that pretty soon every baby will be here!
@KMD1106 - my ob never offered to do a membrane sweep this time and I didn't request one because I didn't want to go into labor before my mom came out but I would think by the 38 wk appointment any ob would be willing to do it as long as your cervix has progressed is effacing so I would ask if the ob doesn't bring it up.
@erinh2005 - I never saw my mucus plug this time and I checked for it every time I used the bathroom so I don't think it always comes out before labor starts.

38 week appt tomorrow. I think I will follow @MrsCPALeslie and ask about at least scheduling an induction date. Doc won't go past 41 weeks and the planner in me would love to know a for sure end date even if it is May 30th. Have a hospital tour on Wednesday and our last US Thursday which I cannot wait for. So a fun week of baby stuff.
Im assuming I will see if my mucus plug comes out if I'm wearing panty liners yes??
@SWE2 That's how I saw mine, but I've also heard it can just come out when you pee/poop and be in the toilet and you may not see it/know to look. TMI but mine came out very much "intact" and I thought I felt it come out.
40w 3d appointment this morning. Still sitting at a 1 so she could not do a membrane sweep (you have to be at least 2). She was aggressive with checking my cervix in hope of irritating it into something, it was definitely uncomfortable (she was showing me the pain to look for) and baby went flying! She was able to move my induction up a few hours to 8pm Thursday. I really doubt anything will happen before then, but she wished for my water to go ahead and break and thats what I am now hoping for too.
Update: Appt was this am and strep test was neg. also she did an internal exam and said I was 1.5-2cm but not thinned (is that the same as effaced?). I know I can be stuck there for weeks but when I was told I was one cm with DD she was born the next day! FX!
@swe2 my mucus plug kind of came out in clumps when I peed. I had some discharge when I wiped and on the liner, but definitely saw stuff in the toilet. It happened over a few days last week. I'm curious to see if that has changed anything regarding dilation and will find out tomorrow!

I was 2cm today, which I know means nothing, but at least now I only have 8cm to go if I have to be induced. Next appointment isn't until I am 40.4 sooooo we will see!
Had my first membrane sweep today - ouch!! I'm 1.5-2 cm, and the baby's head is perfectly engaged so that's good news! Midwife says DH may get his wish and I likely won't have the baby before next week.
Fluid ultrasound went ok and NST showed a reactive baby so that's good! We had a little scare when his heart rate went down to 100 during a contraction but everything after that was fine so they let me go home.
I get to keep him inside until at least Thursday when we have the next appointment!!
Just got back from the Doctor. Everything looked good on the Ultrasound. 80% effaced and still 1 cm so not able to do a membrane sweep. So induction scheduled for Sunday at 8pm...unless peanut decides s/he is tired of waiting. Kind of bummed but it is what it is at this point - so just going to try and relax and get some work done.
@MTB16 - glad baby was reactive. FX he stays inside till Thursday.

Darn! When I saw you commented here I was hoping they were able to do a sweep or get you in sooner. I guess we wait, and hope baby(ies) decide to just come on out!
Had my 37 week appointment this morning. There was a brief moment of worry when the OB thought baby might be head up but she did a quick ultrasound and he/she is head down, just very low (and with apparently a very bony butt). I declined a cervical check because I am still team cannot go into labor yet and I don't want to risk it at all.
Immediately after the OB I drove across town to my oncologist and had an appointment with her. Since I'm on a chemo break I wasn't planning on seeing her but I had called last week with questions about some things that freaked me out in my pathology report and the nurse I talked to just suggested I come in. I am so glad I did. Basically my pathology report from the mastectomy showed that the cancer shrunk quite a bit, which is good. However, there were a few other things that really made me nervous, like the fact that it was in 4 lymph nodes (imaging made it look like it was maybe only in 2, and 4 is the magic number of lymph nodes that bumps you from stage 2 to 3) and that it was fairly extensively in 2 of the lymph nodes even after chemo. Anyway despite my worries my oncologist said that she was thrilled with my response so far. She reminded me that I've only done half of my chemo and I still have radiation and then 10 years of hormone therapy ahead of me so the fact that there was still cancer in the breast and nodes isn't concerning or unexpected at all because I'm not even halfway done with treatment. She also told me that she expected less of a response from the cancer in the nodes because of the way they function during pregnancy which is something I didn't know and the fact that there was still cancer there just means we need to do radiation (which we were planning on anyway). Overall I left feeling much better than I have.
Now I just get to look forward to Friday when I see my plastic surgeon and get these drains out!
38 week appointment went well minus me breaking down in the office making my BP high. Probably bc my mom was there and kept asking me what was wrong. Anyway, we've progressed! 2 cm and still thinning more. Checked BP at the end and it was okay, if not I was headed to L&D for testing and possibly being induced. So I very well could have him by this weekend like my mom thinks or go longer. We shall see! Now to post the craziness that as ensued since my appointment in another thread...ugh...

I had an NST yesterday, and have another NST Thursday along with my weekly OB appt. Hoping to have my GBS results back. I'm due 5/25 so still potentially a couple weeks to go.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
Just left my 38 week appointment about 40 minutes ago and doctor said I have made more progress since last time and I'm not as tight as before, but my cervix is still closed. She wouldn't let me schedule an induction on my due date. I'm just happy that everything is going good at this point.
I have my 40 week appointment tomorrow, on my EDD. The last one was 5 days ago, so I'm hoping we've made a little more progress beyond 25% effaced (or whatever subjective call the doc made). My backup induction is scheduled for 41+6 (5/23)... I tried to move it back as far as possible to give this LO more time to arrive on her own. I may/may not go crazy if she waits that long.
@RainyDays86 so glad the oncologist was happy with the pathology! Hopefully the good news will keep coming for you. And hooray about getting the drains out soon!!
