This board is so quiet with no one cycling

I don't have much to update really.. we had a psych consult today (my clinic requires it before donor eggs), and it went super smoothly. I think the psychologist was a little surprised how we had already talked through everything and made our decision and seemed at peace and excited for the next steps. I'm glad me and DH are both on board fully and I feel so lucky to have him as a partner. While we are only 29, we have been together over 11 years (high school sweethearts), so we have already gone through alot in life together. As the psychologist said today, this is just going to be part of our story.
We picked out 3 donors from our clinic's database and all 3 are currently in cycle. for 2 of them, this is their first cycle, so i am ok with waiting a couple months since I don't want to be someone's first cycle just in case they don't respond great. So its looking like 2-3 months of waiting and paper work before we get going. Just praying so hard that this next journey goes smoother than the last year because I'm not sure I can make it through any more devastation.

Is anyone else getting started soon?!

Afm, I'm still on bcp and waiting. I go back 5/11 to check on the cyst and if it's gone (please, please, please) then I will start stims on 5/13!

@JamieH2000 I'm so happy your consult went well! I agree in not wanting to be a donors first cycle, I would wait to find one who is proven. It's so great to hear that you and your husband are on the same page and so ready for this next step! Good luck! If you have any questions going through the donor process let me know. Afm- I got sick for the first time today. I was laying in bed looking at my phone and then go running to the bathroom. I saw a video on Facebook of someone pouring yogurt on fruit salad and it was just too much for me. Haha. We are going for our first ultrasound today too! So nervous and excited!

@Hopeful_mom I'm doing a minimal stim round-start with 5 days of femara and then add in follistim on day 3. My RE said he's seen success with this on patients like me, so I'm cautiously hopeful.

question for all....

AFM: My RE believes since I responded well last cycle she still thinks I should go with a regular IVF cycle or prep for an FET. I'm leaning towards another cycle, I wouldn't want to prep for an FET and then take a chance I have nothing to transfer. This whole process is such a struggle. I really wanted to have a few normies to work with before moving on to the next process. Its because of my age that it frieghtens me

@Hopeful_mom I would probably prep for IVF and then if you have a lot of great embryos from you last cycle you can FET them the next month. That is hard though, I would be so back and forth but I'm with you you don't want to prep for nothing.

Afm- we have twins!! I'm currently 6 weeks 3 days and we saw both heartbeats and everything looked great! It's so surreal that we are actually pregnant. Ahhhh! Answered prayers for sure. Due date is est. 12/23.

AFM - starting stims tonight! I have 3 follicles on the right and 2 on the left. I'll take it. I read through all the instructions last night and panicked is an understatement...after work I'll see if I can find some you tube videos. I am confused by the different needles and the weird K cap for the menopur...when I got a quick demo they showed me with something else (no cap) I think becaue it involved switching from a thick needle to a thin one before injecting and I'm so confused if I still need to do that with this weird k cap thingy. I have needles that are .4mmx13 mm.as well as .5 x 25 in for the follistim pen I believe and .7x.40 that come on the syringe needles. I'll figure it out!

do you ladies have a time range you have to take them at night???

Ready for this I went in for BW and got the go ahead for stemming AND got my PGS results back too. I can finally say I got a normie back yay!! 2 of the 6 made it. I cried for relief I have a normie but for sadness too that I know its not enough and I have to continue to try and bank embryos. Its such a hard decision but I knew deep down I was going to need to cycle so lets hope I can squeeze a few good ones out this time. We know I"m all about the grading and its really true what they say, looks can be deceiving! I had 3/5AAs and I truly felt I would get at least 3 normies back. 1/5AA made it and the other was a 5BA. That lil normie beat out the 2/5AA and the 5AB, what a trooper. However the 5AA is considered "the best" and thats the one they would transfer first. The thawing process scares the hell out of me why I need to hopefully get a few more in before transfer too. I should feel a sigh of relief that I will hopefully get to a transfer but I"m still a ball of nerves UGH!!!!

I truly have been a mess these last 2 days with such swollen eyes, poor OH I know is scared what another cycle of hormones will do to me!

hopefuljj woo hoo congrats! we can be cycle buddies as i'm starting tonight as well but you're already ahead of the game with those follies good for you!! I know its all confusing for sure, just take a breathe and you'll be a pro by day 3! First the timing, basically they want you to try and take it at the same time every night/day if possible. Depending on your RE instructions. Mine as me do all injections at night, they suggest between 7-9pm. For me that was cutting it close in getting home from work that now I just do it at 11pm. I really think its trying to be in the area of the same time everyday so pick what works best for you.
Watch some vids on the injects. I dislike menupar most so i do that one first. I heard holding it at a 90 degree angle helps it burn less. I really it thinks its just how sensitive my body is behaving. I usually take a lil extra saline in my syringe as i do 4 powders and find that i lose a lil in each one. I like the cap as its easier to mix the menupar. Its odd we waste all these larger needles to trade out for the smaller ones BUT those hurt less so I"m all for it. Not everyone gets the caps so i think thats why the bigger needle is there for some to mix that way. I do the gonalF pen which just has one needle to place on so I can't help u with the other...even though I thought it was a similar product. Hope that helped! good luck, and just relax, no one is grading you or timing you!

@taylormichel- wow, twins are soo exciting!! So happy for you after everything you have been through! What a blessing!!

@hopefuljj- yay for getting started!! 5 is a good starting point and more may pop up! The first time I did menopur with the cap, it was confusing too. It definitely gets easier. I usually did my shots between 6-8pm. You just have to pick a time and stick with it. No pun intended

@hopeful_mom- I couldn't be happier to see you have 2 normals!! that is great news! I know you would have liked more, but I think you are doing the right thing and doing another cycle. Hopefully you can get a few more and then finally do your transfer!! I hope knowing you have 2 good ones in the freezer helps make this cycle a little less stressful. For DE, the girls are between 20-30 at my clinic. I was able to see pics and read things they have written, as well as all the health stuff. I am doing a fresh cycle where I will get all the eggs from one donor. So I am hoping to get enough for maybe 2 children. My friend is doing donor, and she just got 25 mature eggs, with 22 fertilized and 21 still going strong on day 2! I can't even imagine getting that many. Maybe i should try to use her donor

@hopefulmom yay for 2 normies!!! I'm so happy for you! I wish you could stop there and didn't have to bank:-/ I'm already thinking about how the end of this cycle will just be the beginning of the next cycle and that's just daunting. What was the timing like from the end of your last cycle to start again? It feels like you went right into the next stim cycle, no?
I was successful doing my follistim (which is much like gonal with the pen) and the menopur. Boy did the menopur sting!!!! Hopefully it will get easier to set everything up each night, that part was pretty stressful.
@JamieH2000 00 Wow! Talk about a great number of eggs! I'm glad the donor process is moving along for you and that you will be able to do a fresh transfer! It's all so exciting:)! Imagine if you did use the same donor? Your kids would be siblings!

Hi! I am new here. I am 36 years with low amh of .89 but a normal FSH. I am on the TWW for my second IUI with 3 follicles. I have the feeling it will be a BFN. Should I consider IVF? My RE didnt event talk to me about it, he thinks IUI will make the trick, but I am not sure if I want to waste time specially because of my age and my amh. What do you think? Can IUI work with low amh. Thanks!!!

hopefuljj yes since my body seemed ready I have so far done cycles back to back, this is now my 3rd. This time I didn't do any estrogen priming so i'm hoping that I'll still have a good cycle. I forgot to call the RE sooner to ask and they didn't reach out as well. Last cycle I only had the patch on for about 2-3days so hoping this won't be a problem for this cycle.
I would agree my menupor stung last night as well! I swear its different every time. One cycle it didn't start bothering me till half way through stemming, its just how your body decides to react each time. I just get tired and then I have to make sure I dont sleep through taking my meds.

vivis81 hello and sorry you find yourself here. Luckily your amh is closer to 1 then .5!! Everyone is different. 3 follies is definitely a great chance so I hope it works!! I was 39 turning 40 when I did about 6/7 IUIs so for me I'm sad I wasted all the time losing younger eggs for IVF. Now 41 I'm still on the IVF train. My RE originally didn't think I needed IVF and IUI would work. This process is trail and error AND what you can afford. I'm all OOP so it wouldve been nice for the IUI to work, but that just wasnt my journey. Best of luck to u!

I think I'm getting the hang of this whole stabbing myself with needles thing! I feel pretty empowered! I am really nervous though about my scan on monday because if I was only starting with 4 follicles what are the odds that they will all grow?? I was reading other DOR ladies posts who started with so many more and in the end only had 4... I guess there is no point in worrying, I just need to wait and see:)

@vivis81 welcome! I'm sorry you are finding yourself here, I only joined this thread a month or so ago and these ladies are really so lovely!! So you are in good hands:)

Does anyone have any experience with bleeding during stims? It's like heavy spotting but maybe could be considered breakthrough bleeding? I'm not sure it's heavy enough for that...I stopped the estrogen priming on April 30th....my clinic isn't opened on the weekends but I guess I'll try to email my Dr. and nurse anyway just to see if I should be concerned, I can't find anything when I google it...only spotting and breakthrough bleeding on BCP before an IVF cycle is coming up....

hopefuljj see I told you, you'll be a pro in no time!! Maybe try the pharmacy where you got the patch from. Freedom pharmacy is open and should have someone that could help so try them. What cycle day are you on? For my I always stem during AF so I don't know the difference and I'm noticing after an ER its super heavy and the tapers off pretty fast. For me I always have gone in day 2 of AF and thats when I start stemming so I've never started stemming not being on AF.
And as for the numbers try not to stress too much, pot calling the kettle here as thats all i ever do

BUT after my cycle of disappearing follies anything can happen. One cycle I had another couple pop up at the end. Even this past one we thought the most we could get was 6, and I kept saying 4-6 because the techs seemed to have had a tougher time measuring them this round (one follies had like 3 sprouting from it is probably why) so in the end when I got 7 good ones I was thrilled!! Its a crazy mind game and its all on your body and nothing u can really do except take ur meds and try to relax. Lets hope you'll have a bunch growing together. I go in tomorrow for my baseline so we shall see whats cooking!

my doctor emailed me back just now and said not to worry because my estrogen is still falling after stopping the estrace and it should stop soon! I took the pill format 3 times a day. So I'm just going to try not to worry:) good luck at your baseline!!!!!

hopefuljj baseline was today even though its day 3 and everything is so small the tech didnt measure anything and maybe theres 3 growing right now SO hoping in the next 2 days we get some action over here...I'm gonna try not to stress cause it wont help. Last night I got so involved with things i forgot to take my meds at the same time and was a 1/2hr late...amazing how ur waiting and waiting and then forget!

@Hopeful_mom I'm hoping that you've got lots of little follicles that will pop up and be growing niiiiice and evenly for your next scan! Is your next scan Tuesday? I've been doing my shots around 10pm, so it's been like anytime within 9:50-10:15 range. I hope that's ok! I somehow ended up with blood in the menopur needle last night?!?! I was so shocked! Is that ok!!? I never answered what cycle day I'm on, because I didn't start stims when originally plannned and waited for an additional scan so some little follicles could show themselves I started stims after estrogen priming on cd 11 so now it's cd 14! I've been symptom free in there until all of a sudden I got up fast after lying on the couch and now I'm feeling some aching/cramping. I hope that's a good thing? So nervous for my scan tomorrow before work! Not looking forward to when I add in the 3rd shot to keep O Away but hopefully that one doesn't sting:)

hopefuljj Usually when I have more follies growing is when i had more cramping so that is a good thing sure

but no pain is fun!! The time you're taking it is fine, I try and do the same but i'm more 10;45/11pm so when it was 11;30 i felt very behind! I use to think the same way about adding the 3rd shot in BUT its a good thing as its stopping you from ov meaning you can be closer to trigger

and ER!! Its burned me here and there but not too bad, the menupar for me is the worst. Looking forward to ur update tomorrow! and yes i go back on tuesday! I almost rather go wed since i seem so behind already

@vivis81- welcome, but sorry you are here. I think IUI can work with low AMH, but I also think its only worth trying 2-3 at most. FX that it works this moth for you!!

@hopefuljj- hope the bleeding has stopped!! I would just make sure you ask about your lining and make sure it gets all built up again before transfer. If there is any doubt, just freeze any embryos and wait. Hoping to hear a good update from you today!

@hopeful_mom- Hoping some more follies popped up at your monitoring tomorrow! Hopefully this is the last round of stimming ever.

Nothing new happening for me.. except somehow i got AF again last week. Now I have had it every 2 weeks for the last month! I can only assume it was the cyst messing up my levels. I had a few mins of pretty strong pain about 2 weeks ago, so maybe that was the cyst finally rupturing or going away.. part of me thinks i should try OPKs and try naturally for the next month or two... but I also hate the stress of getting up and doing this tests first thing every morning, especially with how messed up my cycle has been. Maybe I will just try to have lots of "fun" the next few weeks and see what happens

@JamieH2000 ugh! AF again?! I think your body is telling you just that, have as much "fun" the next few weeks and who knows what might happen!! I used to read through a thread of low amh success stories and was always amazed how many ladies did all sorts of fertility treatments and somehow got their BFP naturally in the end between cycles!
As for me, I'm attempting to bank so I'll be freezing anything I get so I'm not too worried about the lining right now:)

@Hopeful_mom this morning I had 7 follicles!!!! She said she only thinks 5 are growing, but that's still one more than last time and who knows what will happen:). I start the Cetrotide shots Wednesday morning and go back in Thursday.

do you ladies keep the Chorionic Gonadotropin in the fridge? I think that's my trigger right? It says I can keep it at room temp but I thought they told me it needs to be refrigerated. Is that only after it is mixed? And can you give yourself that shot even though it is intramuscular? Or do you need someone to give it to you. I'm not sure I want DH giving it to me!
I had a fridge crisis last night, it stopped working and got up to 48 degrees. Thank god I have been obsessively checking the thermometer I have in there and noticed when I did! This is the second time in 6 months that has happened but I got it to start by unplugging it and plugging it back in again. Today after work I looked under the fridge and boy oh boy was it like the Wild West down there! Cat hair tumble weeds and dust galore!! I guess I forgot to vacuum down there in I don't know how long! So I cleaned it all out and pulled it out and got behind the fridge too and I think hopefully now it will run smoothly. It's only like 2 years old!

I'm glad things are moving in the right direction and hope it continues!! Sorry about all the fridge drama but let hubby do the heavy lifting - take it easy as you're already asking your body to do a lot!! I can't even think about another thing to worry about, glad u caught the fridge in time!! I do have some ice packs in the freezer, now i feel like I should place a few more. BUT you know I've seen nurses leave gonal f out for hours when people are in need so i'm sure its fine. As for the trigger, I would say YES have DH or someone help you, I think that one is tough on it own in my opinion. AND honestly by the time trigger comes I'm over giving myself all the shots already, its nice to have someone else do it

I use noveral (which is hcg) i believe for my trigger and it does not need to be refrigerated, for me it the pen and cetritide that needs to be kept cold.

@JamieH2000 ur body is still giving you the world to see! still hoping as you enjoy time with your OH you'll get that natural BFP!! I know miracles are headed your way!!

@hopefuljj- I kept my trigger out of the fridge until it was mixed. Well actually I mixed it myself and then took it right away. my first RE had me take it in the stomach, but second RE had it intermuscular... so really not sure which is right or better....So glad to hear you have 7 follies and lots of prayers they all keep growing!

@hopeful_mom- Hope your monitoring goes good!! I wish my body would just be normal.. but also really looking forward to vacation in 3 weeks! We are going to Vegas for 3 nights and then 4 nights by Zion and Bryce National parks.. so ready for a break from work. its been a really long winter!

AFM: The highlight of my day was my monitoring this am where she saw some measurable follies today yay!! Just praying they all keep growing together!! She saw 2 on the right and 4 on the left all ranging from 8 - 10.5...so really hoping they can all stay in the game!!

This has been such an emotional week I'd like to blame it all on the meds but this process is starting to break me down I think...praying this cycle can go well for me!!

AFM I started the cetrotide today, what a mess, I'm no good at drawing up the meds without a Q cap. I got tons of air stuck in the middle with more meds at the top, WTF am I doing wrong? I had to inject it back into the bottle twice and def lost some of it in the process, hopefully tomorrow morning goes better:)

@hopefuljj Have you tried flicking the side of the vial? I've found that can sometimes move the air bubbles to the top and then you can push them out the top? I hope that helps!

@20T I don't know what happened cuz I had the medicine in the syringe and then a break of no medicine where air was trapped for half and inch and then more medicine?!?!? So I tried tapping but it didn't do anything but spill out medicine caught on top of the giant air gap. What a mess. I'm hoping I don't screw it up before my dr apt tomorrow AM for another scan and bloodwork!

hopefuljj i was thinking of you as i was racing to take my meds tonight.

I got home super late from work and was stressed beyond all day, so not good. The worst is that I took my meds super late, 2hrs, nothing i could do. When I left my house this am i wondered if I should take the meds with me, now i'm mad at myself for not listening!! one hour ok but 2, who knows what the morning US is going to bring.

AND I agree I think its super annoying there isn't a cap for the cetritide but the bottles dont even let you try. It also take me quite a few tries to get all the meds into the syringe. I have to go back and forth with air pockets as well. Sounds like your doing fine!! I actually bend the shot in the bottle trying to get it out as its not needed for the actual shot.

@JamieH2000 I used to have such good notes on where to go for vegas. PM and tell me where you're staying. First timers really need good comfortable sneaker to walk the entire strip seeing it all...of course when its not piping hot out!

How dis your morning scan go?! I hope it was still ok!!! My Cetrotide went a little smoother this am. Phew! My US showed 2 on the left and 5 on the right!!! I don't know if they will all be mature by the time I trigger, but I go back in for monitoring Saturday AM. My RE does all my monitoring appointments, but this will be the doctor who does all monitorings on Saturdays so she warned me he measures differently and they will sound much bigger than they are according to her measurements. She says he goes from edge to edge and she takes an average between the different widths or something like that. Interesting. Looks like I will be stimming for a while longer! Gotta call in some refills:).

Are you ladies usually ok the day after retrieval?! I have a mandatory work event that is likely now going to be the day after my retrieval (event is Saturday and retrieval is looking like next Thursday or Friday) where I'll be on my feet from 8am-2pm. I'm hoping it will be fine!

@hopefuljj- I have personally been totally fine the day after my ER. It definitely depends on the person, but usually the more you get, the worse you feel, so its not too bad for us DOR ladies

its just hard to predict until you go through it. FX your ER will be on Thursday!

@hopefuljj- I was so exhausted last night everything I wrote about the cetritide I meant for the trigger shot...today was the first night of cetritide and my cap pretty much fit on it go figure

And thats why I get freaked out thinking I can't get all of it out. I've been so nutty with work I'm not really realizing what cycle day it is that I was already starting cetritide...I have 6 days worth of gonal F so I might have to order more too. As for ER as @JamieH2000 nailed it, we are all different and now having 3 I've felt different each time. My 2nd time that I had 10 I was a mess that day...following day I was better but certainly tired!!! What size are your follies at now?? You'll be surprised how sometimes your eggs will surprise you. Hope they all keep growing together! I go back sat 2 cycle buddy

@JamieH2000 luxor is hip and young if memory serves me correctly and on the strip so you'll certainly have a lot to see!! Will have to put my vegas hot on over the weekend

AFM: Had my US this morning and happy to say the 6 have stuck around and still growing and another lil one popped up on the left at 5.5. I'm a lil concerned with one of the right ones I don't think grew from 2 days ago...so I'm hoping the tech just measured it wrong and its ok. Biggest is at a14 so I still have some time to go as long as they continue to grow together and this 14 stays at bay. Seems there always seems to be an over achiever on the left that starts to get ahead of the game. Pray they all keep on growing together. I'm a freelancer and work project to project so I'm working on something short so its jam packed stress all at once, which is fine as I did get my BFP during a very stressful time, however the needing time off for ER will be tricky. Its hard as you can't really call out sick or take a personal day UGH another joy of IF
