Too lazy to scroll back up and tag, but yes my SIL has not taken any opportunities to socialize her at all. No library time, mommy and me things, nothing and it drives me crazy. Once they're in Florida she'll have both her cousins and I have a feeling I'll be babysitting a lot and I pretty much always have an extra kid or 2 at my house. We are SUPER lucky to have quite a few friends with similar aged kids so we all swap off as needed.

My MIL has been worried my niece has behavioral issues, but honestly I think she's just bored. Hopefully being around more kids will help.

Okay this is totally random. But do you guys ever think about what eachother look like. Like, I wonder how off base I possibly am, or if I could possibly be dead on... just food for thought.

ETA: if anyone wants to tell me what they think I look like I'm totally down.
  • @bcashaw yes I totally do that all the time but it's largely influenced by role UNs. So for you in my head I imagine a blind, wavy haired, woman with glasses. Totally random. I know.

@ugoglencoco don't you think I give off a blind vibe? Lol
@ShePersisted you have brownish reddish shoulder length hair that you almost always have in a low pony tail. I've never actually thought about your skin color, but I think your eyes are Brown.  I don't know why your hair is just like blatantly that's what It is in my mind. So weird.

I subbed for a class that had a field trip to a park today. 2 chaperones didn't show up so I had a huge group. Over 10,000 steps by 2pm and I'm exhausted. Going to shower and nap until DH gets home and then we're going to a new Southeast Asian restaurant and to the movies.

DH has been working late so I haven't seen him all week. And he texted me today and apparently I'm invited to another spouse's baby shower that's this Sunday. She's having twins. They moved here when she was 6 or so months pregnant which must be hard not having family around and not knowing tons of people but now I have to last minute find a gift.

I'm also kind of pissy about not having a shower thrown for me before we leave. I know that sounds bad but I've done all the planning for work/family events, have made his office 8 doz + cupcakes on so many occasions. I know I'm not that far along and I know it's snobby but I'm tired and spent the day with whining kids so I'm in a mood. It's normal for a spouse or female soldier to have a shower but it's not like I can put together my own. Is it bad that I kind of hope it's a surprise shower for me? (I'm just a bit petty.....)

@slaven It is so irresponsible for that school to send a sub and not have chaperones for a field trip. If anything they should have sent another teacher in that teacher's place and had you cover that class. Even then it's kind of dangerous if you don't know the kids. For example, I was one my third day of student teaching and my cooperating teacher had another teacher replace her on the trip. Well one kid got hurt and needed to go to the hospital for stitches. The teacher left for the hospital, leaving me with the rest of the class. At least I knew them a little, but could you imagine?

Today, I have a meeting with parents who think it's okay for a kid to turn in work that mom clearly did. Said child had 3 days and 6 class periods to work on some reading passages and a few one paragraph essays plus 3 days after school at home if it wasn't finished. He lied about it twice before admitting she did it. The kid is in gifted and talented and all of the other kids finished on time themselves, so he was clearly capable. Last week when I caught him copying and pasting most of his essay, he lied even when I gave evidence, and they seemed to want to find blame for it elsewhere. He is a good kid, but is making bad choices. Now I need to tell them to stop enabling him and to have him take responsibility. Should be an interesting morning.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Guys I know this is the worst kind of question but we shared the news with some friends last night. They looked at the ultrasound and everyone asked if that was a penis they could see! But...they would have asked us at the ultrasound if we wanted to know if the gender could be seen right?

ETA: Question redacted. I googled like the smart lady I am. I learned all 11-13 week ultrasounds show a little nub called the genetic tubercle that can look like male anatomy but is not indicative of gender yet. Unless you believe in old wives tales which I do not.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge if you can see the nub, you should google the "angle of the dangle". Not an exact science, but fun to try to figure out!
  • @lck101 DITTO. I'm so comfortable right now. Also TGIF and thank goodness Fridays are jean days at my firm.

@DuchessOfCambridge I was actually not looking forward to casual Friday today since the pressure in my normal jeans is getting to be juuuuuust too much, but I'm super comfy now!!

  • Annnd I just got jealous of FTMs and/or those of us tall enough to show later. I had to give up on the rubber band last week. I'm wearing a maternity shirt and maternity leggings. The clothes may be physically pretty comfortable but mentally makes me squirm to look so pregnant. Ftr, my therapist says that feeling so uncomfortable with physical changes during pregnancy is really common and basically to try not to make it into having horrible body image issues. Pregnancy is it's own beast, basically.

FYI Target has a promo (online also) for a $25 gift card if you spend $100 on baby essentials, just until tomorrow I think!

@artificialred I totally get what your therapist said. It's interesting to feel so happy about something on one hand, but also have some negative feelings about all these changes. I think for me the most difficult thing about this has been feeling a loss of control over my own body.

Lol love it but I am nothing like that. I have black hair but it it is highlighted blonde and brown but maybe I might get a red this time :-). I never wear low pony tails and my skin is brown. You are right about my eyes though..they are dark brown :-)

@NYTino24 Thankfully it was a multiclass trip but we were split off. The other teachers are great and made sure I had all their phone numbers, knew the kids with allergies/medical problems, helped with the planning, etc. But yes, it was crazy. Also, it was a prescheduled day for me, the teacher didn't call out on an emergency so the school could have done something else/more. Thankfully I had the same class yesterday so I at least knew their names *insert eyeroll*

@DuchessofCambridge @lck101 the rubber band trick no longer works for me. The gap is too big and the zipper slides down.

@ArtificialRed I'm a FTM and 5'6" which isn't tall but not short and I'm showing. Like undeniably. My mom was big though for all her pregnancies and thankfully I enjoy it but I fully understand that it's not easy for everyone. I'm sure I'll feel horrible/hate it at some point.

  • @nytino24: Did you guys just start standardizded testing? We sadly have had our classrooms covered up and walls pretty bare since February. The standardized testing window in our state goes from late February to the 2nd week of May. Ugh....I really hate the state of public education and the need to over test and underfund things.

Hopefully you found the energy to power through!

@ArtificialRed @slaven  am also fully into maternity wear now. Rubber band trick worked for awhile but in reality I don't wear jeans very often ( mostly a leggings wearer) and my leggings sit awkwardly on my bump and are uncomfortable.

@ShePersisted I knew you meant blonde, I thought it was pretty funny. I actually have dark brown curly/wavy hair and the bottom half is dyed (usually grey but sometimes another fun color)
  • I wonder what you guys look like too. I always picture @shepersisted like her April Siggy GIF. @bcashaw I picture you short. But I haven't paid enough attention to some of the other threads for clues. I picture @duchessofcambridge small with long, dark hair.

DS1 is 7.  DD is 1.  DS2 is coming in late April.

Where has tallmomma been?! I feel like she hasn't been around in a while!
I think she moved over to October since her twins will likely be born then. I lurk there sometimes since my EDD is borderline and I see her posting there.

  • *Warning. Gross*

I woke up this morning lil bit earlier than usual and it always gets me more nauseated. When I was about to leave for work I coughed once so hard it made me dry heave for few minutes. Most of the time it goes away after few minutes but this time it didn't. There wasn't much that came up anyways but it came up so fast it made me pee my pants even though I just went to the bathroom. Thanks pregnancy bladder and gag reflex  :(

So talking with my cousin, she swears she got to hear the heartbeat at her high risk OB at 6 weeks and a few days...but that isn't possible right? I am not going to argue with her...but is that even possible? I am wondering if she is maybe further along than she thinks.
  • @adirat: I said it on the TTGP board, but so sorry again for your loss.
  • @adirat I am so very sorry for your loss.

  • @dragonfly87 I would say it's possible with a transvaginal US, but I don't think you're wrong in assuming she might also be ahead. It's definitely the earliest you can hear it. If it was a doppler, I'd call BS.

  • @ElizabethSchuyler Yeah, I just wonder. I definitely clarified thinking she meant that she saw the heartbeat, but she was certain she heard it. She didn't say what kind of ultrasound, but I had a transvaginal U/S at 7w5d and they didn't even try to hear it. But at 6-ish weeks, isn't the heart beat closer to 100 beats per minute? Which isn't super far from where a normal adult could be if heart rate is elevated (due to excitement, anxiety, anticipation).
