@sweetmelissa4 Thank you so much for sharing that sweet care package idea. I love reaching out to people and frequently provide meals to those in my life who I know are hurting. But I've never thought of the cozy blanket. That is just a very thoughtful idea
My mom is coming down for our ultrasound and gender reveal next week. Today she texted me "can't wait to see my baby girl!" And I replied, we don't know it's a girl yet, quit jinxing me! She replied "I meant you" whoops, guess I'm anxious to find out the sex lol
Funny day today... I work in Human Resources and two people in my office called me and informed me of them or their wives expecting. I eagerly asked so when are they due and both came back in November! Ha! They feel the need to tell HR already and I have not even told the parents. It's going to be fun when they see my belly grow as well.
My sister's birthday is mid November, mine is early December, best friend's is on Christmas and we usually go see him after Christmas dinner, and BF 's is January. Also we do Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. I've always just thought of it as "party season." It's just the way life has always been in my family. Nice to have so much to celebrate during those cold months.
Babies are due November 8th, but will likely come in late October. We usually have Thanksgiving with my parents and a large group of family friends, but this year my parents will come over and bring food and we'll pick the tradition back up next year.
Taking the baby to preschool swim today. Not super excited about being in a bathing suit today.... BUT Wendy's is across the street so if I'm feeling less nauseous by then I usually get Wendy's with my friend and her baby.
For the first time in 20 years, I won't travel for Christmas. Also hosting Thanksgiving where others will deal with the meal.
With a toddler and newborn, I won't have it in me to travel. Did that last year with DD. (Family concentrated in FL & PA. I'm in NC). I only feel guilty about DH Grandmother- 93 in FL. May try a short visit when baby is about 3-5 months.
I didn't realize there was so much uncertainty over when second tri begins. Everything I've read has said 13-28 weeks is second tri. Did I miss something with 14 weeks??
@ElizabethSchuyler@kissthesky32 ok, this makes sense. 14 weeks was confusing me. 13 and a few days I can understand. I'll probably just stick with 13 weeks because it's easy.
@DuchessofCambridge The Bump and BabyCenter's calculators use 14 weeks as the first day of second tri. That's the date my OB uses as well. The differences come in depending on whether you divide by months (12 weeks = 3 months, so the 13th week is the start of the 4th month and second tri) or divide 40 weeks by 3 (13w3 days is the first day of second tri). I think many doctors and websites just round up to the nearest week, which is 14, for convenience. I'd say go with whatever milestone works for you. I'm using the date my OB uses, 14 weeks, since it's the latest as my date to feel "safer". But really, there's not a huge difference between 13 weeks and 14 weeks. Pregnancy is one long continual phase of growth and development anyway.
I had an ultrasound today where they take measurements of the baby's neck to estimate chances of trisomies. It was my second appointment because last week the baby didn't cooperate. Anyway, the technician was male and he was pushing so hard on my abdomen I finally had to tell him it hurt and he didn't let up! WTF dude? So weird.
Here I lie at midnight. My foster child coughing and snotty on my chest. DH snoring away happily beside me. A to do list for tomorrow the size of the places I've never been. My SS birthday party in less than 48 hours. Tomorrow is going to be a looooong day
I bought these belly bands on amazon and they are amazing! Now if I wear a shirt that's not EXTREMELY long people won't be able to see that my pants are unbuttoned/unzipped! Plus they have a silicone rubber bnd on the bottom to stop it from slipping! So comfy!
My SIL and her family are moving back from Alabama this weekend. They'll be over for our gender reveal on Wednesday and I told her how excited my niece (almost 3yo) will probably be since we will have so many toddlers and small kids here. She told me she'll probably be terrified because she's never been around any other small kids besides DS and a similar aged cousin on the other side who also lives in Florida. Seriously?! 3yo and she's never played with kids her age except for twice a year? That makes me so sad
Guys 2 people asked me today I am pregnant. First, wow people are ballsy. Second, I really don't think I am showing that much but I am pretty tiny and any small fluctuation is obvious. One person mentioned I kept touching my stomach during a presentation. Oh well. It is what it is. I just feel weird bc work ppl know but my family doesn't.
My due date is two days after Thanksgiving but I am kind of hoping baby comes a few days early (my first was born at 39 weeks) so that I have my appetite back but we got engaged on Thanksgiving 6 years ago so it is always special to me. I am a little nervous though because my in-laws are All going to Disney for Thanksgiving this year, but my parents think they can come in town so we will have help with our toddler when I am giving birth since most of our friends who would normally watch him will be gone too. I plan to order a Thanksgiving dinner premade for all of us so we don't have to stress about when I may or may not go into labor. With my first I did so much cooking and stuff for Christmas dinners with family (we went to 3! Lots of family in the area) and went into early labor and had 5 min apart contractions for like 6 hours. Luckily it stalled so he was born on Jan 5th so his bday could be a little more separate from Christmas.
@BayCamp that makes me sad, too. I have a friend who has an almost 2 year old girl and she never gets to play with other kids her age. She has two older brothers (10 & 12) and I try to get her together with DS3 (now that he plays more-almost 9 months old). But she isn't "socialized" at all. Her dad is super protective and won't let anyone babysit her including his parents and sister (except me on occasion). I think kids are like dogs when it comes to this stuff...they need to be around others in order to learn how to share, communicate, and just interact with others. And I totally understand if people don't want to put their kids in daycare, but take them to a park and let them play with other kids or bring them to a mommy and me class. Anything!
@bannaners I'm due five days before Thanksgiving, but my earliest baby so far came 6 days after my due date. I'm kind of hoping that this one comes after Thanksgiving so we can participate in events fully and I can feel less guilty when I want to skip Christmas events because of having a newborn!
Edit: I fully admit that by the time November comes, I will no longer feel this way and will just want the baby out ASAP.
Office workers know the struggle/beauty of walking into the kitchen and seeing a box on the counter. It's usually either a cookie or a sandwich.
Today, a cute little box was on the counter. I assumed it was either cookies or chocolate. Nope. Roasted Brussels sprouts with quinoa. What a sick sick joke.

That's the most offensive thing ever. How rude. Also, I would have been crushed with disappointment.
@ElizabethSchuyler I can imagine your disappointment but I will take those brussel sprouts, I have been craving them for a week but life keeps getting in my way of eating them
Thinking of the texture of quinoa makes me want to puke, but brussel sprouts sound AMAZING right now. One of my favorite "guilty pleasures" is to go to Whole Foods for Teriyaki Chicken and brussel sprouts from the hot deli. I call it a guilty pleasure because it's pricey, compared to our usual Aldi shopping habits
I can't decide when to open the envelope and find out the sex. I stupidly let people know that I was going to be able to find out and now they'll be asking or at least watching for me to slip up. I know they're just excited and not truly trying to make me tell, but I'm a horrible liar.
I want some cupcakes and cookies now!!! I can almost taste them in my mouth especially like creamy vanilla frosting I need to cook dinner though. Don't feel like cooking but too many take outs lately
