@LaceyC1020 One of my cats used to do that all the time when I was pregnant with DS1. Not surprisingly, he was the one always stuck like glue to my side since we adopted him. Makes my heart melt!
I'm too scared to get a Roomba because what if my cat barfs or craps on the floor and it smears it all throughout the carpet. I'm sure you've all seen that horror story of the Roomba running over the dog poop, complete with detailed map drawing of poop streaks...
I bought an Anker RoboVac and it's great. Cheaper than the roomba was. We have all hardwood floors & 3 cats and run it about every other day and it fill up. It's crazy how much fur there is. I want to caution everyone with pets to not run it automatically when not home. We came home to cat vomit trailed throughout the house one day. It was all plugged up in the vacuum, omg. It was horrifying.
Also, I love Zulily, as long as you have time to wait for things to ship. I usually get my purchases within two or three weeks. I've got a few books and onesies for the baby, a few toys for our niece, and and a few maternity pieces coming. (I may have gone a little wild this weekend- they gave me free shipping, it was hard to resist!)

We have all hardwoods on the main floor of our house, and three cats and one toddler. I've discovered that toddler crumbs are worse than cat fur, haha. And I can totally imagine the cat vomit trail, it sounds awful. I would never just automatically run it if I got one!
Now that I look at it, I am pretty sure the one with DD's age is a week behind too. I swear it hasn't been like this the whole time. AlternaTicker == AlternaTimeline
+1 on the robo vac fandom! But I have a Neato (that I got on Cyber Monday in 2015 for $335 from Kohls).
TL;DR - below is a full write up on the robo vac we own. It's amazing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here is my FULL robo vac write-up, for people on the fence (the write up is about a year old, we have since lost our handsome booboo dog):
About us: 2 adults (I have waist-length hair), 2 short-haired cats, and one long haired golden mix. I joke that everything in the house sheds except my husband. The Neato's name is Hernando (hair-nando).
I have three friends that bought refurbished and had wonderful luck. I bought refurbished and did not. I returned it and bought a new one. I've had the new one for about 2 months now, and am just SO pleased. My husband has dust allergies and "can't" vaccuum, and I just hate vacuuming.
Understand: this is a machine, not a housekeeper. It's not going to get everything, and it's not perfect. He doesn't get in the toe-kick area under the cabinets, he doesn't fit under the couch or back behind book cases, etc. But I haven't pulled the big vac out since I got him. I was worried the smallish bin wouldn't be able to handle all the hair/fur, but I have him scheduled to run every day, and I empty it every day - it hasn't been a problem. There's a small learning curve (for you). Before we go to bed we just make sure there aren't any cords loose on the floor, pick up dog toys, etc. I have him set to run every morning before we get up, and the first three mornings he was making his plaintive mrp mrp sound from some nook or cranny he'd gotten stuck in. A small shift of furniture here, a piece of the magnetic strip there, and all fixed.
The pets all HATE the big vac, but this guy doesn't bother them at all. But, they will bother Hernando if I run him in the middle of the day for some reason. The dog is curious and will get in the vacuum's way, which messes up his internal map. This is why I scheduled him to run early in the morning - the dog is asleep in our room, with the door closed. I just added "emptying the bin" into my morning routine, and I haven't had a problem with it getting too full.
We have hard floors in the majority of the apartment, and an old dog - so we have runner carpets throughout. Hernando can't pick up dirt within about a half inch around the carpets (I assume it's just too far away from the floor because he's transitioning up onto the carpet. And maybe every 2-3 weeks I'll flip him over and give him "a hair cut" because my long hairs will accumulate around the roller. The face plate pops off easily to help with this. You CAN take the roller out, but it's a pain in the butt to get it back into place, so I don't do that. You're supposed to replace the filter every 1-2 months. After shelling out the money on the vac, I'm too cheap to do this. I have washed the filter once. But I've read that every time it gets washed, it loses electrostatic properties, and thus picks up less dust?? Who knows.
But overall, he does an amazing job. No more rolling dust/fur bunnies collecting in the corners, I was able to sit down on the living room floor and wrap presents without getting a pound of pet hair on each, and my husband hasn't had a bad allergy day since we got Hernando. (end old review) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So we have had Hernando since Dec2015, and H (who is allergic to dust, mold, and the cats) hasn't had a bad allergy day since. I also dust less, because this thing just picks up an insane amount of "stuff" so it's not circulating in the air anymore. Once you establish a baseline (read: it gets all the old ground in hair, fur, and dirt in your carpets), then it doesn't need to be emptied as often. Now with the two cats, it runs every morning and I only empty it every 3ish days. You don't HAVE to run it on a programmed schedule (for fear of pet messes), you just have to remember to hit the start button.
ETA: The thing I love about the Neato that I don't think many of the Roomba models do: the first thing Hernando does is do the outer perimeter of the room, thus mapping the lay out of the room. Then he zooms back and forth through the middle parts, and then moves onto the next room.
Talked myself into going to Old Navy on my way home from work tonight. Found out they don't carry maternity clothes - BUT they have a few that were returned to store, that they automatically mark at least 50% off (because they don't generally carry them). So I got a nursing shirt for later, and a heavyweight, soft pair of maternity leggings for $20!
I'm currently sitting in my front lawn watching my fearless eight year old climb a tree with the neighbor's kids and having a mini anxiety attack lol. It is not a very tall one so I'm trying soooo hard not to ruin her fun by making her come inside lol.

You shall be my parenting inspiration. I am scared of so many things... but I really don't want to ruin things for my kids because of it.
@wyomama0427 Thank you! She is great but she scares the crap out of me. Lol
@HollyGolightly09 believe me, I totally understand! With her I was a FTM and for many many years I was nicknamed "helicopter mom" by friends and family because I wanted to make sure my baby was safe and okay.
I've only just recently start pulling back (within reason) and giving her certain freedoms, but I still have a hard time with it sometimes!
I got home from work to find a giant box of maternity clothes I ordered waiting for me! I say this like I didn't have UPS tracking text me every time there was a change. I was down to 3 shirts that fit that I was just washing and rewearing. 14 more! Kind of. 11 shirts, 1 dress, 1 hoodie (it's sooooo soft!) and 1 under tank top. But yay for not constantly doing laundry...until 4 1/2 months from now!
I was planning to do dishes and clean the house since the dogs made a huge mess with all the mud and rain we have had. Instead I am snuggling with this little guy. He just has to have his head lying on my bump so he can feel Laurel kick / move. It's adorable!
I love how cute pets are with the bumps! One of my cats is mother henning my bunp right now and Skylar is kicking her so much! I wonder if she can hear kitty purrs...
Ladies, I'm doing my happy dance here! I've probably mentioned it in passing, but DS is almost 18m, and still not walking. He's hit all the normal developmental milestones, so there hasn't been a question of whether he can walk- just whether he wants to. He cruises on furniture, etc, just fine.
So last night, DS made his first solid attempt at walking, from DH sitting in a chair, to me on a couch. He did eventually fall, but he made it about 5 steps first. YES. We haven't been able to get him to hold our hands and walk for months, then at the park this weekend, he was suddenly cool with it (probably bc crawling on bark in shorts is painful). It looks like my child will actually not be crawling at high school graduation. <-- Sarcasm, but excited sarcasm.
I've just gotten so tired of seeing kids born almost a year ago walking before my stubborn toddler, and all the comments that come with it. People try to be 'helpful', but really it makes me feel like something is wrong with him, even when there isn't.
I have 2 questions for the robot vacuum people. 1. Are they reasonably quiet? Suitable for running during nap time?
2. Would getting one make me look lazier than I already am with cleaning?
Depends on how light a sleeper the kid is. H sleeps through it running, but (for example) I can't watch tv while it's running in the same room without turning the volume way up. But it's quieter than an upright vacuum.
For me, I think it looks LESS lazy - because it means the vacuuming is actually getting done, and every day (instead of once a month). It also looks like I dust on at least a semi-regular basis (which I don't).
@Becky012016 Ours is moderately quiet, but I'm most bothered when I hear it knock a leg of the couch or table and redirects. So if I've napped when it's on, I make sure it doesn't come in our room.
We had spaghetti last night because I found some organic brown rice and quinoa pasta that is cholesterol, sodium, wheat, egg, soy, nut, dairy, and gluten free from aldi! I love guilt free pasta!
@ColoradoHiker yaaaaaaayy!!! That is such an exciting milestone!! I missed my little guy just starting, was at a meeting but I wanted to say that I know how you feel, because DS didn't start walking until he was over 16 months. His Dr even wanted him to go to PT (we politely declined). It's like people forget you know your child best. And now, he runs everywhere he goes, everywhere! Anyways, I'm happy for you!
Lately I've been straying and looking at some other boards on TB because I am slower at work this week; 2nd trimester, baby names, baby showers. Sometimes I can't even figure out what someone is talking about or asking. I'm there for a few minutes each time I try before I say to myself "I'm going back to my people" (aka, you all)!
I think today my mom and I will go to Janie and Jack and look at all the adorable clothing. Aka see if grandma wants to buy any cute outfits for her granddaughter
