My son's second birthday party was yesterday. We did an elmo/sesame street theme. This morning he's grabbing Elmo paper cut outs and hugging/kissing them. So looks like we're going to buy him. An elmo plush doll today.
@Souptin that's so cute! Sounds like a fun party. How many people did you have? My guy's third bday is in a month and he wants a fire truck party. I should probably start planning that!
I'm starting to really give into this whole Team Green thing. I am the one who wants to be surprised, not DH but he is being supportive since he's already had 3. But I feel like everyone else is disappointed that I am not finding out and I am starting to give into the peer pressure. I feel like I'm in high school again...

Don't let other people force you into finding out! It bugs the crap out of people that I never want to know what I am having, but the surprise is so much fun!

@MyNamesTaken A lot of firehouses will let you do parties at the station. I know around here it's $50 to rent the station for the party and that includes the party room, access to the kitchen, tables and chairs, plus the kids get to ride in the fire truck. The firehouse usually also has goody bags of fire safety coloring books and crayons for the kids too.
@JNR6510 Cool! I may look into that. At this stage we're still inviting pretty much family only so there will only be a few kids but if it's affordable then that might be worth it even for the adults
I like having an HOA because otherwise it's amazing what kind of grossness some people will try to get away with...
HELLLOOOOOO!!! I feel like all I do is work! I had yesterday off and we were going to register. MIL was feeling left out of the baby process so DH suggested she come.. so I said yes but we weren't registering with her there. Because, I don't need opinions. We can oo and aah over all the baby things.
Well, she brought FIL too. Who proceeded to whine and complain and "my back hurts" "Im going to pass out" the whole time. So we left him in a rocking chair and proceeded to move around the whole store. Thankfully he was gone for me to point out breast pumps and bottles and breast pads.. I think she enjoyed getting to see what kinds of baby things were out there and what we were thinking, but why she brought FIL is a damn mystery. The man is a horror to be around with any "physical activity".

Hey @Sugargirl1019 you said something that piqued my interest in the cloth diaper hospital thread. What did you mean by let the nurses use what they use? DH changed pretty much all of the diapers in the hospital (including the tarry meconium poopies) and I think the only time a nurse ever did was when DH was asleep and our favorite nurse came in at 3am to get in some snuggle time and give him a bath and let me sleep. But that was the only time DS wasn't ever with us. Does your hospital keep babies in the nursery?
@MyNameWasTaken We had about 20 people and kids which was less than half of what I did for his party last year, somehow it was still just as much work. I mean last year I went all out and made a lot of stuff for it so the lead up was more work but as the far as the actual party day itself went, I am just as tired today ( with just as much clean up) as I was with the 50 I had last year.
