Had an OB appt. yesterday, moving onto appts. every 2 weeks which I am really excited about!! And we talked about when I would like to stop work. The school board I work for gives up to 3 month full pay medical leave ~ and all it takes is a doctor's note. Anyway DH and I had the calendar out last night and he was funny, he used to say work until 1 month before your due date ~ which would be the start of spring break but last night he changed his tune and was saying just work until mid Feb. or the end of Feb. at the latest.
So just wondering when is everyone else thinking of stopping work?
I should mention this 3 months leave doesn't affect my 12 month mat leave, it is an additional leave offered.

Today's not a good day to ask me that :P I had court for 9 hours yesterday, and my body is so beat up. Standing for hours, alternating sitting on hard benches waiting. I'm having to call in to work because I can't function this morning - my feet are still swollen, my back is killing me, and I don't think I can do anything but rest in bed.
Well, in all honesty - due to pregnancy complications, I'm going to be induced no later than 39w which is March 27 for us. I have court dates until March 13. I'd like to make it to March 13 working in the office, and then from home until she comes. I'm taking 12 weeks 100% paid w/ FMLA protection after that.
I've stopped already
I plan on staying home til LO starts school/we plan on having another within two years. I officially became a SAHW a week before Christmas and I'm honestly regretting the decision. I'm starting to get beside myself with home projects and to-do lists. Not sure why we thought taking time off so early was a good idea--but at the time it seemed convienent.
I should have mentioned this 3 months medical leave doesn't affect my 12 month mat leave, it is in addition to that leave.
You are one lucky lady!
Until my water breaks, or labor starts whichever comes first.
I work the AM shift, so I'm hoping it happens AFTER my shift, so I don't have the embarassment of me acting a fool in front of my co-workers. I also want to be near my suitcase at home.
I too will take 12 weeks, but that's a combination of 6 weeks full-pay and just about 6 more of vacation and sick time. I'll have one week at Short-term disability, which is 60% pay.
So from April until after the 4th of July I'll be DEUCES!!! Love the thought of a Spring baby!.
the 12 months is at 55% of my pay.
As of now my last day is March 22 because we start Spring break the next day. My leave officially starts April 2 (the first day back after spring break), my due date is Apr 7.
I wanted to make the transition as easy as possible for my sub and 1st graders so her starting after break made sense.
I will be using some more of my sick days because I'm getting worn out lately
My last day of work will be March 9th; the last day of school before our March Break. I'll be off about 7 weeks before my due date, which seems like a long time to be off. However, with the class I have this year, my doctor, my DH and my principal all think it would be best for me to go off early. My principal actually suggested leaving at March Break to make the transition easier for my students.
My actual 12 month mat leave will start either on my due date (April 28th) or when they baby is born (if she comes early). I will be off on medical leave before that.
My last day of work will be Friday 3/30 at 39 weeks (I'm due 4/6). That will give me 12 full weeks before the end of the school year. If the baby decides to come earlier, then I will have to return to work for a couple days, otherwise I would lose my health insurance.
I plan on working up until my due date as most posters and/or until the Dr. puts me off work- I'm guessing you're from Canada as well with the option of a full year leave?
IF I need to be off work earlier, I'll be able to use my sick time accumulated and/or borrow from the year I'm returning while still getting paid as if I'm at work. We don't have a specific amount of time alloted (i.e: 3 months) that we can be off work by choice, but my work will work with any situation which is wonderful.
I'm officially jealous of all of you. I only get four weeks of partial pay. And I work for a freaking women's rights organization! WTF is that about? I'm very disgruntled with my job for NPR reasons right now and am considering quitting earlier. My commute is brutal (1.5 hours, a lot of it standing on a jerking subway or bus because no one will offer a seat), and my nonprofit pay is crap, so it's difficult to justify continuing.
I'm yet another one who is planning on working as long as possible. My office is over the road from the hospital, so I will just ensure I keep my bag in my car at all times.
I'm due April 20 and I submitted for my leave to start the Saturday before (14th). Originally I was going to work until I went into labor but this fall I got promoted to a store that is a 25ish minute drive from home/hospital and I work in retail so I figured I would work M-F that week and start leave on Saturday. That way I also have some days with DH and to finish getting stuff together and just plain relax. I just hope she isn't super late. lol
I get 6 weeks at 80% pay and then can use my sick,PH,and vaca to take up to 12. I think i will be taking 10 so that I still have some time leftover for later!

In NJ you can get STD starting 4 weeks before your due date, and at my company that is at 100% pay. I still need to call my STD insurance company to verify everything, but my doctor said if I want to take the full 4 weeks they will find a good reason to sign off on it. I wasn't going to take all 4 weeks, but apparently most women at my company do and people told me I was crazy not to take advantage of it. I do work an hour's drive away so it would be nice to not have to deal with that commute when 9 months pregnant.
The nice thing is that my 4 weeks pre-birth does not affect my time off after the birth. My company guarantees your job for a leave of up to 6 months, although of course most of that isn't paid.
Well I've been off since the holidays. I had to turn down a big project because it was going to be too physical/ risky and would go very close to my due date. Climbing up and down scaffolding and being on my back at 8-9 mos wasn't going to be a good idea.
I had to turn down another one because it would go way past my due date. It is hard to just watch the dollars fly out the window : ( I thought I would just have to be home, but I just was offered another one that will go until about 3 weeks before.
My doc thinks I am going to go pretty early and may put me on bed rest so it is a little risky for me to commit to. But they are aware of my situation and I would like to have something to do. I could go to my due date, who knows? I just had my updated growth scan yesterday and everything was on track.
Me: 38 DH:36
I'm currently temping at my job so it doesn't really matter when I leave since I only get paid for what I work (and i'm not coming back), but I could use the money so I'm going to work until the end of March.
I have a 2 hr commute (one way) to NYC from Jersey which is brutal and after 37 weeks, i don't think i'll feel comfortable commuting that far away, just in case something happens.
First of all - I am jealous!!!
Second, I will answer your question. I will be working until I go into labor. I have 8 weeks maternity leave total and I don't want to "waste" any before the birth unless absolutely necessary.
That being said, in your case, if it doesn't affect the leave you have after the birth, stop working whenever you feel like it.
And enjoy!
I'm working until 38wks, or when the babies come, whatever comes first. By 38wks I'll be getting monitored twice a week and know I won't be up for working, so I'm okay taking an extra week of leave pre-babies.
They will probably come sooner than that, though.
I'm hoping to be able to work right up til the end. My ideal situation is to go into labor on a Friday when I am at work, (minus the embarassing water breaking part) and then start my 12 weeks off.
I don't want to use any of my time before the baby comes so I am hoping I don't have any major medical issues that put me out of work before hand. Yes it will suck by the end, big time (i'm already sick of it) but I'm hoping towards the end my boss will let me work from home 1-2 days per week so I can at least avoid the 1 hour commute each way.
