Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Appt today with midwife...just a routine check-in
Cravings? Sweet things! Want chocolate and candy! Baby girl has a sweet tooth!
Rants/Raves? I feel like the baby is kicking more now. I was told I had an anterior placenta, and it would take a few weeks. I hope this is it! It doesn't feel like flutters, more like pops..
Questions for FTM, STM+? When will you have (if you plan to) your baby shower? Mine is May 13th, I had to do it early because my sister's wedding shower and bach party is in June/July - lots of overlapping guests..
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Cheesecake! Love it, can eat an entire pie, but that wouldn't be good for me...
@jacksonbears I never thought it felt like flutters. It literally felt like something was/is poking me from the inside! Also, my baby shower isn't until the end of July but that's just the weekend is has to be. I'll be 37 weeks, so while not ideal I'm sure I will survive.
How far along are you?
23+2
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
HB check last week, went great!
Cravings?
The largest Bloody Mary in all of the land.
Rants/Raves?
Rant: I would really, really like to get some solid sleep. I fall asleep fine but am up around 330-430 every morning. Rave: Lots of movement! And I still feel really good overall.
Questions for FTM, STM+?
I always have questions then forget....I'll be back for this.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Bananas Foster! Haven't had it in forever, though.
@jacksonbears when I was pregnant with my first, my showers were 2 mos before EDD, 1 mo prior to EDD, and then a week prior (surprise one from work). None this time around. I'd say your timing is fine and obviously hobby what/when works for people to host and attend. You may be feeling LO. I felt DD at 24 weeks when I had the AP. Hoping this is it for you!

Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Glucose- all good and measuring right on track!
Cravings? Fruit and smoothies...give me all the smoothies
Rants/Raves? Went to our 'what to expect class' this weekend. Happy to have more answers and to have actually known more than I thought. Plus all the animated videos and actual birth videos had my DH rubbing my back and telling me how awesome I was and how much he loved me the rest of the day.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Best thing to snag while at the hospital to take home? Our hospital literally has a wall of supplies in each room.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Sundaes...Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, a little caramel, peanuts and whip cream! Yum.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@smallbutmighty77 I would take any much stuff from the wall as they allow! The mesh undies, peri bottle, diapers, wipes, squeeze tube of petroleum jelly, the tucks pads and spray. I'm sure there is something I'm forgetting so just take everything, you'll need it!!!
@jacksonbears I have an anterior placenta as well, but I have been feeling my little dude for weeks now. It started SUPER low, and felt like little pops, then I started to only feel it on my right side (I guess my placenta is closer to the left, according to the US tech), and again it was pops. Now I feel him every day, and sometimes it pops, but other times it actually feels like kicks! Also my shower is the 8th of July. Ill be almost 36 weeks at that time. Again it has to be that weekend, as my sister is graduating college in may, and the shower is in Maine, so I have to travel, and with schedules, it was the only day that worked.
How far along are you? 25 weeks tomorrow
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? None last week, one this week on thursday. I have my glucose test as well. . .
Cravings? All the dessert! I bought a single serve ice cream from target yesterday, and I am planning to eat it when I get home from work! If I could eat only sweets from now until aug 8 I think I would be the happiest person in the world!
Rants/Raves? My parents were here this weekend. They took us to Ikea, and bought our crib for us! We also got the rest of the nursery furniture, a dresser, night stand for by the glider, 2 books shelves, and a closet organizing system. Best part, they have a HUGE car, so everything fit super easily! We put the crib up and got the mattress and a sheet, and its SUPER cute. It is kinda weird having a crib in our house now!
Questions for FTM, STM+? I dont think so at this point!
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Right now I would say EVERYTHING! But I think Ice cream is at the top of my list. I love a good banana split, mint ice cream, cookie dough, or even just a fantastic vanilla. I have an ice cream maker, and I made DH his favorite (banana) a week ago, but I seriously could have eaten the whole thing in one sitting.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
@jacksonbears My shower is going to be about 5 weeks before my EDD. I asked for that timing as I wanted to be as close to full term as possible. Anytime in the last 3 months seems to be pretty standard for scheduling showers, with most of them being around 9-6 weeks before the due date. If you are starting to feel movement now, you might be passed the flutter stage and jumped to the full on pops and kicks. I only felt light flutters early.
How far along are you? 22 Weeks!
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
Tomorrow. I'm hoping it goes well... I always get nervous the day before appointments.
Cravings? Fruit.
Rants/Raves? Rant on myself... I was grossly unprepared for the need for maternity clothes. Thought that anything in my wardrobe that was looser, had some stretch, or not form-fitting on my stomach would work for maternity. That worked for my first tri- but now? Lolz for days on this FTM.
Questions for FTM, STM+? This heartburn is killing me. So far I can mostly control it through diet, but I'm afraid that as time goes on and I get bigger that I'm going to be SOL with that approach. So, please tell me any stories you have about heartburn magically going away after delivery and enjoying all the yummy foods and drinks again.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Brownies.
Together: January 2002 Married: May 2008 Baby: August 2017
Clearly we like to rush along at lightning speed...
@Mango517 I never had heartburn in my life until I was pregnant with DS, it went away after delivery. It came back this time but isn't nearly as bad as when I was pregnant with DS.
How far along are you? 21 +5 - Wow! Crazy to think I've come this far
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?? I had an anatomy scan last Thursday. I was told I have an anterior placenta and that the baby is faced down. I also got to see the baby stretch which was so cute! Sadly, I had a tech do my US so I don't know how things are officially going. I am assuming no news is good news!
Cravings? Does coffee count? Lol
Rants/Raves? We bought some clothing for the baby on Friday. Crazy to think a baby will wear them!
Questions for FTM, STM+? Since finding out what we are having, I have been feeling out of sorts. I'm kind of scared of being able to raise this baby. Any one else felt this way? Also, did having an anterior placenta affect your birthing plan? I am hoping that I can still have a chance of delivering without surgery.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? I have been loving lemon desserts lately!
@jacksonbears My shower is June 4th and I'm due August 9th. I agree with others, your timing seems fine. Also, I never felt the flutters that others mentioned (or I just didn't notice). Movement started as little pops and then got stronger as the weeks went by. Fingers crossed that's LO you're feeling!
@littlebug2010 That sounds like an awesome weekend. You guys must have felt so productive! I agree it's weird having an empty crib upstairs.. I keep walking into the nursery and just standing there not processing that a BABY will be coming home in a few months.
@smallbutmighty77 Ahh they showed actual birth videos in your class?? I've been watching some on YouTube..I secretly hope our class shows some so DH can wrap his mind about what I'm about to go through. I still think he's oblivious sometimes.
How far along are you? 24+5
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Had a generic OB appointment last Friday. Went fine - no concerns. Got my glucose drink to take home for next appointment.
Cravings? Also loving sweets lately, which I never really go for pre-pregnancy.
Rants/Raves? Sunday was SO nice out where I live. We cleaned the cars and did some work in the yard. Finally pulled the trigger and removed the stakes for the plow. It should be safe now, right?.....
Questions for FTM, STM+? How early would you wash baby clothes to put away? The dresser for the nursery arrived and I'm anxious to wash all our hand-me-downs to organize and put away. It seems a little early though.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Had a craving for strawberry shortcake this weekend. Made homemade biscuits and topped with ice cream and sliced strawberries - YUM! I don't even think I could choose a favorite dessert - it always varies. Chocolate fondant cake is another favorite. OR my dad makes these homemade walnut, dark chocolate biscotti which are amazing. Okay, I'm done now.
@secicc12 oh yeah, at first just some animated, but we saw 4 real videos. They showed the early at home stages for all of them, then some at the hospital time, and actual birth for three. They were all a bit different- epidural, no epidural, quick delivery, prolonged with need for pitocin. DH got a good feel for how long this whole labor thing can really last and everything. I think he was actually most freaked by the animated c-section and the woman who got 'stuck' at 5cm for like 8hrs. He just kept looking over at me like I was crazy and he had no idea what he had done. It was kinda funny..
@secicc12 I wouldn't wash too many new clothes, you never know what you will need to return. My LO was born above average and length and size, so he went straight to 3 months. He also was born in May, so anything him being off in size made the seasons off as well. I actually placed each size in a different drawer, and when it came time to wear that size, I washed what needed to be washed.
I wanted a McDonald's snackwrap, but my McDonald's doesn't make them anymore, so I got a burger but now I want one even more!
Rants/Raves?
I wore jeans for the first time since December with my bella band! I felt like a real member of society! But the bella band isn't perfect and I definitely showed people my underwear a few times. at least I was just hanging out with family.
Questions for FTM, STM+?
What's your favorite thing to do for yourself when you're feeling like a bloated whale carcass?
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Cheesecake, any style
@Kudlica27 Good point.. I may just wash all the hand me downs, since those aren't going anywhere. Then leave the new clothes hanging in the closet and wash as needed. I need to chill out a little bit on the nesting haha. Thanks!
@jacksonbears my shower is June 17th and I'm due August 2nd.
How far along are you? 25 weeks 5 days
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go?
No appointment till 5/12
Cravings? potato chips
Rants/Raves? just got the nursery painted! our infant care is this week!
Questions for FTM, STM+? How helpful were the infant care classes or childbirth classes? I start classes at the hospital this week and was just wondering how helpful they may be
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Pretty much anything chocolate!
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? I have my appointment and glucose test tomorrow (ugh)
Cravings? I've been wanting pancakes recently.
Rants/Raves? Stinks to be middle-class in Southern California. Rent is so high everywhere that DH and I need both of us to work. Which means I can only use the short amount of leave I get that is paid, and then I have to come back. So heartbroken I'll only have a little over a month with my new baby. We are trying to save up, in hope that we can get by a little longer, but it's not looking good right now.
@jacksonbears I felt flutters at first but it's definitely pops now that baby is bigger/stronger. The flutters felt kind of like indigestion, tbh, although I eventually learned the difference. The pops are a lot more noticeable so that sounds like what you're feeling Also, my mom is throwing my shower while I'm home for my sister's college graduation since it's the only time I'll be home - which is across the country - during this pregnancy (at 28 weeks). Like everyone else has said, if that's the date that works, you'll be far enough.
@jpearl2307 we are not finding out the sex so that didn't trigger anything (of course). Was it not what you thought you were having/are comfortable with? Everyone has told me DH probably is hoping for a boy (he maintains no preference) because it's just easier to imagine raising a boy (and he has no siblings close in age). I think we all have our insecurities and that's perfectly normal. I never had a good relationship with my dad but I always felt loved and I know I'll love this baby. That (plus baby's safety of course) is most important. I think what you're feeling is normal but perhaps reading some parenting books or blogs would help. I'm sure others have suggestions or can identify with exactly what you're feeling.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? None
Cravings? Bread! I'm getting sick of my yogurt, smoothies, and salads.
Rants/Raves? DH and I took a croissant making class and it was so much fun (also, see above for bread cravings)! We got to take home some croissants (plain, almond, plus pan au chocolat) which didn't last the weekend but we have dough in the freezer and I'm so tempted to take them out and make them.
Questions for FTM, STM+? I just figured out how to add food delivery service gift cards to my amazon registry. Has anyone done this with a newborn before? I'm planning to do some freezer meals but trying to figure out how many gift cards to ask for (knowing people won't necessarily buy any, of course). We don't have any family on this coast and we haven't lived in our town that long so won't have anyone bringing by meals. I love to cook but have never done these services because I have a million cook books and it's cheaper to just buy the ingredients at the store - but thought that might get us cooking when we don't have time/want to grocery shop right after baby is born.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Toss up between a good chocolate chip cookie or a brownie.
@jacksonbears my shower is July 2nd-I am due Aug. 4th...a little nervous about the timing, but it was what worked for people. I just might check my registry a little bit and not let it all be a surprise, so I have time/ can plan what I still need. Also, my side of the family is Jewish so, they will buy gifts-but won't send until after baby is born-its a superstition thing.
@Mango517 I had heartburn a decent amount before pregnant with DD. Only had it with DD in the last two weeks and Tums handled it. Then literally, none after delivering her. It was great! Now this pregnancy, I had bad heartburn at the end of the 1st tri. Only Zantac took it away. Now it's sporadic. I hope it goes away again after delivery.
@dinofreak McDs has a Ranch wrap on their menu instead. But you get two of them when ordering it. Maybe that'd be your fix?
@secicc12 I agree on the washing info above. We had a ton of hand me downs and only washed those early. I still do the same with tagged stuff that I buy a season ahead. I wait to take off tags or wash until I know they'll still fit. Then I can return whatever or resale at more since it's NWTs.
@Kathryn0903 I found child birthing and other classes beneficial. I liked having as much info as possible prior and especially for DH who'd never been around babies.
***TW in Siggy*** Me: 34 / DH: 33 Married: Nov 2011 TTC #1: Jan 2013, BFP Sept 2013, DD: June 2014 TTC #2: Aug 2016, BFP Nov 2016, DS: August 2017
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Last week. Normal other than an elevated BP of 120/90, then 130/80 the next day. My baseline is 102/60 so my midwife definitely didn't love the readings. Working on stress, adjusting hydration levels and adding magnesium and an herbal tincture to hopefully get it back down. (We're homebirthing so literally have no leeway with high blood pressure, we'll have to transfer care if I become hypertensive.)
Cravings? Chocolate!
Rants/Raves? Not really!
Questions for FTM, STM+? Where did you get infant CPR training done?
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Warm peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. NEED THIS NOW.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? A/S last week. Regular OB appt this week - baby and I are doing well but my OB rushed through my appointment in three minutes.
Cravings? The random thread has me craving white cheddar popcorn!
Rants/Raves? None of my concerns were addressed at my OB appt today. I have to take a half day off work every time I have an appointment. I'm just a bit pissed that the doctor only spent 3 minutes with me and addressed none of my concerns (I felt so rushed and forgot everything I needed to ask). *sigh*
Questions for FTM, STM+? TMI - Since my OB wasn't helpful today - what sex positions are comfortable for the 2nd tri? Lying on my back or side are uncomfortable and cause round ligament pain/spasming. I feel like I am getting jabbed/poked in the cervix if I am on top or doggy style. Thank you in advance for the advice. I am getting desperate over here.
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? yes
The first day May 2007 The yes day April 2012 The best day Nov 2013
@kvh22 I have been trying to figure out why and I am thinking that it feels more real because I am allowing myself to day dream a bit more since finding out. What will our lives be like, imagining moments that I'll be able to experience, etc. in addition I feel familial pressure to have a certain sex.
@BlackNYellow This may be the one question asked that I can help with! lol I find that being on the edge of the bed with my feet against the wall (or something sturdy) is the most comfortable. You can sit up and/or use pillows for comfort.
@mango517 I feel the same way about being totally unprepared with maternity clothes. I got a few tops and a couple pants and thought I could make do with other things in my closet... but then I got huge quickly and I need to get more tops
@secicc12 omg. now I want strawberry shortcake. I mean... it's healthy because it has strawberries...right?
@BlackNYellow first of all, I would be so disappointed about that appt with the doctor, too! I always get nervous when they're going fast and I forget to ask everything so at my 16 week appt I brought my nurse friend with so she could remember everything and then this week I'm going in with written questions! I've had a hard time finding enjoyable positions so I'm looking forward to hearing other peoples answers as well!
How far along are you? 24 weeks!
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? Appointment on Thursday for a checkup that I'm already writing down all my questions haha
Cravings? more sweets lately... which is bad considering how large my belly already is.
Rants/Raves? Just loving the new feeling of actual kicks and not just the weird movement feelings. I was never told that I had an anterior placenta but with how long it took to feel things, I'm skeptical. Which didn't help PGAL brain. Now that I feel them regularly, my mind is slightly calmer
Questions for FTM, STM+?
GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Probably a brownie sundae where the brownie is warm
@jacksonbears Movement started out as flutters for me as well. Also, my family/friend shower is set for July 15th, and I'm due Aug 31st. Not sure about a work shower yet.
How far along are you? 21w+5d
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? We had our A/S Friday! It was so awesome to see LO look like an actual baby instead of a frog. We're team green, but the tech didn't make us turn away and we now think we have a boy. We're trying to continue thinking it's a mystery since we don't know for sure.
Cravings? Mexican food and lemonade
Rants/Raves? Rant: My lower back is starting to hurt more. I need to visit the chiro, but I don't want to pay for it. Rave: Crib and dresser are built, and baby's room is coming along... which makes it feel more real!
Questions for FTM, STM+? What registry gives you the best perks? We've started ones at Target and Amazon, and some random online stuff through Babylist. But we're also considering BRU since you get a certain percentage back on a gift card. Either way, we need to consolidate some of the repeat items and decide which ones we'll share.
@Feliciosity do you plan to nurse? Is the baby going into daycare or do you have a close relative to watch? I don't have any family by me either, they're at least a 2 hour drive, so we have no option but daycare.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? 24 week check up last week, went good, baby is on track. Doing glucose test at 28 weeks
Cravings?
Fruits
Rants/Raves?
Mother in law is driving me insane with the due date! We know the exact day we conceived (Nov 16th) and she is like well the baby won't come until August 16th, even though we had a dating ultrasound and the baby is ahead a and schedule so our doctor has the due date at August 5th, and he told me at my 24 week check up, he wouldn't let me go past August 10th. When we told her what my doctor said, she got all huffy and was like well you tell him that this baby isn't even due until August 16th and it needs to stay in there until then!! umm... no, you aren't a doctor, nor in the medical profession so I am not telling my doctor anything you have to say.

GTKY: What's your favorite dessert?? Usually anything chocolate. However, went to Savannah, GA this weekend and had a home-made pecan pie that was to die for.
Any appointments this week/last? How did it go? No appt last week or this week. But this weekend I do the glucose challenge.
Cravings? Ice cream and carbs - back to first trimester cravings. lol.
Rants/Raves? Body changes are starting to be something I'm working through - it's not uncomfortable, just different, to be really looking pregnant now. I don't quite feel like "me" right now which I think is understandable but I do need to work on how to be comfortable with the new me. I went to get a new top and pants for an event in two weeks and just had a hard time finding something I really liked - one of those ruts.

Me: 37 DH: 37 - Married 10.2015 ❤️ Canadian DX: Endometriosis - Stage 4, DOR, RPL
@JWatt5 -- I'm right there with you on being in a little bit of a rut. I think I posted it in my ticker change day thread... but at this "middle pregnancy" stage I've been feeling a little off with how I look at my body. Happy to finally have a "bump" and feel her moving way more, but also not quite ready to wear things that ACCENTUATE the bump and feel like i'm super out there with it... Makes it hard to get dressed everyday. I go through like 3 different outfits before choosing something i'm semi-comfortable in Hoping this stage passes as we grow bigger and closer do our EDD's?
@mrsmatt1212 Here is my list of things that can artifically effect BP:
Try to take your blood pressure at the same time each day. Levels are usually lowest in the morning, and then rise steadily through the day.
Choose the appropriate size of BP cuff. Too small a cuff may show an inaccurate elevated BP reading.
Avoid exercise, tobacco, and caffeine for at least 30 minutes before. All can make blood pressure spike temporarily (though it's unclear if they have a lasting effect on blood pressure.)
Go the bathroom. A full bladder can raise systolic pressure by 10 to 15 mmHg.
Rest for 5 minutes before the reading. Feet should be flat on the floor, legs uncrossed, and cuff at heart level; those can each affect systolic pressure by 2 to 10 mmHg.
Put the cuff on bare skin. Putting it over clothes can raise systolic pressure by up to 40 mmHg.
Remain quiet during the test. Talking can raise systolic pressure by 10 to 15 mmHg.
@Feliciosity I totally feel you on the heartbreak of having to go back. I am taking 12 weeks off, but I will end up getting paid for about 8 days of it. We are going to be financially strapped for a year or 2 after, but I am really trying to keep the big picture in mind that we do this now and then we both go back to work for 25-30 years, so we can catch up. I would love to stay home for like 10 months though. In my dreams.
Questions for FTM, STM+? Is it normal for the baby to go from super active to barely any movement? going on day two of hardly
Yes, normal. Happened to me last time and now this pregnancy a lot too. Super active baby for a day or two and then several days with minimal movement. But if you are worried contact your dr.

I went ahead and went in and glad I did! Baby was fine but my blood pressure was through the roof which can cause decreased movements. The had me lay in a quite room for an hour and rechecked my blood pressure. It was down to normal and the baby was kicking like crazy! I have been told I have to relax and stay calm, work on not stressing (whether it be baby or life stresses) take time and put my feet up!

@emilyrose807 thanks! I knew all of those except the full bladder--which is CRAZY! Totally peeing next time haha. It's been checked twice today, first at the chiro after sitting in a noisy waiting room and it was 116/81 and then after lunch/Pilates I checked at CVS and it was 110/67! So I definitely think there's a lot of environmental stuff going on. Just need to keep it low now! Much better than last week's 120/90 and 130/80. (Adding that these numbers might be totally normal for some people so not to cause worry! I just have incredibly low blood pressure normally so anything elevated is unusual)

Rant on myself... I was grossly unprepared for the need for maternity clothes. Thought that anything in my wardrobe that was looser, had some stretch, or not form-fitting on my stomach would work for maternity. That worked for my first tri- but now? Lolz for days on this FTM.
This heartburn is killing me. So far I can mostly control it through diet, but I'm afraid that as time goes on and I get bigger that I'm going to be SOL with that approach. So, please tell me any stories you have about heartburn magically going away after delivery and enjoying all the yummy foods and drinks again.

I think he was actually most freaked by the animated c-section and the woman who got 'stuck' at 5cm for like 8hrs. He just kept looking over at me like I was crazy and he had no idea what he had done. It was kinda funny..

Cheesecake, any style
25 weeks 5 days
potato chips
just got the nursery painted!
our infant care is this week!
How helpful were the infant care classes or childbirth classes? I start classes at the hospital this week and was just wondering how helpful they may be
Pretty much anything chocolate!
I have my appointment and glucose test tomorrow (ugh)
I've been wanting pancakes recently.
Stinks to be middle-class in Southern California. Rent is so high everywhere that DH and I need both of us to work. Which means I can only use the short amount of leave I get that is paid, and then I have to come back. So heartbroken I'll only have a little over a month with my new baby.
No questions.
Cheesecake!
@secicc12 great question on washing! And thanks for the tip, @Kudlica27

Also, my side of the family is Jewish so, they will buy gifts-but won't send until after baby is born-its a superstition thing.

@BlackNYellow This may be the one question asked that I can help with! lol I find that being on the edge of the bed with my feet against the wall (or something sturdy) is the most comfortable. You can sit up and/or use pillows for comfort.
