  • @RatParade That tidbit about the sperm cannot be true. I've had six IUI's and with each, H had a report on his sperm and every report was different. We don't have MFI at all, so let's say one time he had 54 million prewash and 36 million post wash. And then the next time he would have 82 million prewash and 79 million post wash. So it's confusing when you say there's the same amount of sperm in each ejaculation. Maybe I'm reading your meaning wrong?

@mrsdaddario I think I misused the words "same amount".  What I meant (and what the RE was saying) is that having multiple ejaculations doesn't deplete the sperm count.  I was worried that having sex every day would lower our chances because DH would need some extra regrouping time, but the RE was assuring me that while the total fluid amount might decrease the second time, the amount of sperm ejaculated isn't impacted.  Does that make sense?

    Me: 32 | DH: 36

    9/27/2017 - BFP at 10dpo (cycle 22), baby boy due June 9, 2018

Hmmmm the specialists in The Great Sperm Race said that the number does decrease if you have sex every day.  I don't think it's by a hugely significant amount, but typically every other day is ideal for that specific reason.

Well this is a bummer.  He specifically told us every day is better, even to have sex the morning AND evening after a positive OPK, so twice in that day.  I guess in the end it doesn't really matter, at this point I'm pretty sure we've done every possible combination of timing.

Yeah I reallllllly didn't say that to make you bummed out or anything!  Do not beat yourself up.  You do the best you can and all you can.  Even if the count drops by a bit in most cases that's not going to be the thing that makes the cycle unsuccessful.  *hugs*
  • @Aurora1973. Forgive me if I am not too familliar with your situation, but can they use Clomid to boost his T instead of actual TRT?
  • @antoto I'm not sure, but what seems more likely to me is that it tapers down bc at a certain point, those 5x, 6x couples are just not going to get ku that cycle regardless.  Maybe TI will eventually work for rhem, maybe it won't but we all know people who fit in that categoru where no amount of BD was going to cut it. :/  I would think that proportion of those type of couples is going to increase inversely as you get to the ass-end of that data. But just a thought.

    I can't gif-shrug on mobile, but it's there.
  • @BusinessWife  Hmmmm that might be part of it too.  Definitely need more sex studies with larger sample sizes! lol

Idk if I belong here so we'll see how this goes.

Diagnosis (If you've been): Borderline PCOS

    Cycle/CD: 1/28

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):  WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Nothing this cycle

How are things going? Well I'm on CD 28 with no O or AF in sight so it could definitely be going better.

    Any questions? Not yet...

GTKY: You are going to be left on a deserted island for one year. What book do you bring? What music do you bring? What food item do you bring? Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt, Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, and an endless supply of non molding French bread lol

  • @kiwi2628 I'm sorry you got such tough news. It really never gets easier, even if you know the person has started trying. Just last week I went to a friend's play and had to stare at her "we weren't even trying" bump for two hours.

@Anna_1021 so sorry for CD1. Don't be so hard on yourself! We have all been there...just last month I convinced myself that it was our miracle month because my boobs were a little more tender than usual...obviously I was wrong! Good luck on your upcoming IUI. Sending all the good vibes!

  • @antoto thank you!
  • @leekat14 So glad  your initial perception of CNY is positive !
  • @JuneRoseRuby No problem!! Sounds like we are in the same boat. I will say that my body responded fairly normally to Clomid and Femara. I always had two leading follies with Clomid and one with Femara so nothing crazy. I don't really know what to expect with the injectibles.  I'll be sure to share any research on how to prevent OHSS. Worst case we will just wait for my body to recover and do an FET later. I have heard that FET success rates can be higher because your body has had the time to recover so I am not against it. Even if I do want to be KU yesterday.
  • It's getting so hard to keep up with this thread lol

@kiwi2628 I'm glad you took yesterday for yourself. Hugs for the genetic test results. FX YH is clear and it can be less of a burden on your mind  <3

@mschanandlerbong1214 why do you think you belong in an IF thread if you're only on cycle 1 with no testing/treatment in sight or the need for it? I really am curious. I know you've been on TB longer than your current 28 day cycle - have you been NTNP/benched? I can't remember and I'm mobile so I can't check.

I'm also wondering why you think your borderline PCOS? Do you have very irregular cycles?

Lastly, all my questions stem from sheer curiosity and this thread is filled with extremely encouraging and amazing women, so if you do need to be here then you will find the support you need. But I would never understand why someone would want to call infertility if it's not needed in any way shape or form. Also, ending your sentence on not knowing if this will go off well with a "lol" rubbed me the wrong way. These women, including myself, have been battling heartache, treatment and months of waiting, not something to laugh or joke about wondering if you fit in.
Oh my goodness. That lol was totally not intentional! I have my text prediction on and I've been adding words without realizing it. I definitely don't think IF is a joke at all and would never intentionally hurt anyone.

I was diagnosed borderline PCOS after testing I had before DS2. I have a lot of the symptoms (cysts, unexplained/sudden weight gain, irregular and very heavy menses) but my blood work comes back borderline every time - not totally normal but not definitively PCOS. Since this this is my first time TTC my ob wanted to try 6mos unmedicated before we start metformin (which I was on when DS1&2 were conceived.)

This is part of why I don't know if this is an ok place for me to post. It was suggested by someone (I can't remember who) when I asked in another thread about PCOS and was told it's discussed here. Definitely not trying to step on any toes and will gladly step back from here if I'm not welcome at this time.

  • @mschanandlerbong1214 Oh ok, I missed your post about that elsewhere. Glad your OB is working with you.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this board, it's just helpful if we know your history. Also, I didn't see you post any questions in your OP so that's why I was confused as to why you were checking in here.

@antoto that study is really interesting. I've heard so many different things RE sex EOD vs ED. FF states that O-2 is the best day for TTC sex in one their Daily Tips.

@mschanandlerbong1214 My RE has also dubbed me as having "mild PCOS" - I have cysts and very irregular cycles (until recently hooray) but not super hairy/crazy weight gain. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
