@chocolatelemons I agree, it all seems arbitrary based on the provider who's measuring. Yay for the mamas who had good appointments.
DH and I went on two pediatrician tours. We ended up liking opposites, so I'm not sure exactly how we'll reconcile that, but we have some time. At least the tours are done.
@MTB16 I too have fluid on the low side and am having weekly u/s to keep an eye out. My LO is head down, but I casually mentioned "well if peanut is stubborn like mom, I'm sure he will flip right around and become breech" and the technician said there wasn't enough fluid for the baby to turn and if they tried it would be pretty painful for me. I wonder if that is why your DR is not hopeful?! Either way FX the Dr. is wrong and baby flips anyway. The same technician also mentioned fluid levels can be off a bit based on other factors
I had my 37 week appointment today - fluid still on the low end of the range and blood pressure creeping up a little bit so keeping an eye on both things although my Dr. didn't seem worried. Had my 2nd cervical check (still not a fun experience) and stilllll at 0. I guess Peanut is comfy in there and wants to cook a little longer.
[...] H is not on board with spinning so I guess I'll see how this all plays out in the next week or so.
A lot can happen between your current 34 wks and 37, which is the point at which my own doc said a breech baby is most concerning. FX for you!
Curious about why your hubbs would not be supportive of you trying to get the baby into a head-down position. Do you mean he doesn't want you to try the exercises at home? Or that he doesn't like the idea of the doc manipulating the baby from the outside (aka external version)?
My hubbs has been helping me with the inversions (head way down, hips up) and I'd've given him an earful if he didn't participate in getting this little guy turned.
(P.S. does my saying "given him an earful" totally make it sound like I belong back in the days of I Love Lucy or what?! Seriously I'm so old. Uggh.)
He is opposed to the Dr. doing the external turn because of associated risks. He is a doctor as well so I tend to rely on him pretty heavily for medical opinion and trust that if he is opposed it must be for a good reason - but he does still want to ask questions because he knows I am heartbroken by the possibility of a C.
Had my 35 week appt yesterday - baby has turned but is 'sunny side up' so hopefully she'll flip over in the next few weeks. On to having weekly appts now and getting cultures taken next week. No need for an US yet apparently.

@CCNellans Out of curiosity, is the baby's positioning (sunny side up) being determined by an external check? I'm asking because every time I've asked about my baby's position, I've been told, "It feels like his head is down." They seem pretty confident, but it's always "I think" or "It feels". It just seems like others are being told with 100% confidence about the positioning and I'm wondering why my OBs sort of act like nothing is 100%.
Yes this was external only this time - I'm not overly concerned whether she's right until we get a little closer. Baby was definitely head up at our last US which was over a month ago.

My office does an ultrasound every appointment as standard procedure, not sure why? Very different than last time! But it does give nice visibility to baby's exact position. Last time I saw all midwives and it was external feeling, same as you described.
@chocolatelemons my doctor is the same. My guess is they say the "doubt" words as my boss calls them just to cover themselves in case they are wrong, not that they are, but just in case. My doctor told me at my 35 week appointment Tuesday that the little guy's head was up by my ribs and not down, well she is pretty sure it was his head. That was just an external exam. They don't do anymore u/s unless they feel it is needed or I guess if I request it. I'm sure if he's still not down or not sure they will do the u/s. I have to believe they've been doing this awhile so they have a pretty good idea as to where the baby is positioned.

Had my 35-week appointment today. Last week OB told me the baby was measuring small. This week he says I'm measuring at 37 weeks. So that should put H's mind at ease.
I also got to meet with the OB that will perform my c-section in two weeks. She's actually my first GYN. I used to see her when I was a teen, many many moons ago. It's nice to know that someone I already trust will be handling the procedure.
@nda_roxybabe Silly question, but baby is lying on your right side? I can't for the life of me figure out what that means.
Yea, so baby's spine lays to my right side for the most part. So I typically feel butt over there as well as spine and then little feet on my left. Still head down and in position, it's just more like...where they lean? IDK. @SWE2 are you left handed also?! @PartiallyDomesticated Same! The lopsided butt bulge is always on my right. How about you, left handed?
@nda_roxybabe That sounds like me and my LO. Is it not normal for baby to be on one side like that? Should we/I try to move baby with spinning exercises?

She said for the other 80% baby lies on the left side (or maybe there's a percentage that lays in middle?. Either way is totally okay and no need to move baby. @MrsFreeman2010 any more insight?
@nda_roxybabe Right handed, I wondered if it had something to do with always sleeping on my right side?? Gravity and all. I always have a bulge just to the left of my belly button so whatever is there makes my belly lopsided. So fun to watch!
Little guy keeps flip flopping from my left to right side and it feels so weird! I definitely have the bulge too! I sleep on my left side and will wake up and its like he's curled up right there. I'm right handed by the way...sorry to just jump on in your conversation @swe2@nda_roxybabe@jayandaplus

I think babies are all over the place regardless. This LO has spent the majority of his time on my right side, with his face snuggled into my hip. At work I don't tend to see babies on one side more than the other. I am also more comfortable laying on my right side so I wonder if that's because he's in that position or that's what put him in that position? As far as one side being safer or better? Nope! We say some babies don't like moms laying on certain sides in labor, normally because the umbilical cord might be there getting compressed but there is no way to know unless your being monitored. And the only thing we do is change your position, which jostles them
Oh and someone asked about baby being sunny side up....I'm sure all of our babies are or will be at some point. You can typically tell your baby is if you have more back pain/contractions in labor instead of in your belly. You can fix it by standing and leaning over the counter/bed/husband or being on your hands and knees. Anything that has your belly hanging dependently.

Nope, right handed. But I tend to do a lot with my left side, like carry DS, so that may have something to do with it. H is left handed though, DS was always on my left but is right handed... now I'm really curious lol

Update from my appointment yesterday morning. Test result for bacteria in urine came back negative so I don't have an UTI.
LO's back/butt is on my right side, or at least I'm pretty sure he is since I get an occasional big bump there and more smaller and sharper movements on the left from his feet/knees.
As for sunnyside up, that's the first time I've heard any concern about it. DD was sunny side up when my water broke. I had back labor pain as a result, but when I got settled in L&D they just had me lay certain ways to help her turn or something as she slowly descended down the canal? I have no idea, the whole thing was confusing to me but they didn't seem worried.
Had a check-up and ultrasound to check position today. He is still breech An external version is sounding less likely due to my low platelets and risk of internal bleeding (also it sounds awful and often unsuccessful). And my platelets dropped again. If baby flips it sounds like she would want to induce to try to have me deliver during the day when they have a full staff on hand because of my risk of bleeding. Seems a bit silly since it is unknown how long the induction would take and therefore when I would deliver, but it worked last time, so what do I know. Please send baby flipping vibes my way. Next ultrasound is the 1st.
@Louise_Belcher: Solidarity, sister. I too had an u/s today and my boy's still breech too.
The doc I saw today (not my reg OB) said external versions are about 50-50 successful, so I'm even less thrilled now about having that procedure. I'm officially on the schedule for May 1st also... but that is my "show up to hospital, try version, if yea then induction, if nay then c-section" date. That's literally 9 days away---eeeekk! I'm trying not to think about it! <don't freak out, don't freak out>
@Louise_Belcher: I'm 36 weeks today, so at that point I'll be like 37plus3? Your due date's not too far past mine, so hopefully you get to marinate longer, but I know my doc just wants me to get to 37.
I know what you mean about thinking you have more time. A part of me is still like, oh my EDD isn't for another 4 weeks! But, no, my new reality is shorter than that. It's kind of a mind game.

DS was born face up, I'd never realised there was an issue with it, just that it was a more painful labor :-/

@SKZW Gah!! I thought we were pretty close in dates, but couldn't remember for sure. I have mildly settled in that this will all probably go down the week before due date, but I hadn't even toyed with the idea that it could be earlier then that (unless of course I go into labor.) Are there other factors leading to delivery at 37 weeks? I hope both our babies flip!
@Louise_Belcher: BTW, your screen name still makes me smile. Yeah, I have this randomly spiking high blood pressure (but not all the time) that pushes me into the realm of pre-eclampsia, and the doc prefers to induce/deliver early to prevent it from getting to a horribly high level. (I do agree on that point. I suppose laboring earlier to avoid potential seizures & coma & emergency C-section is the smart choice!) It's just that I pictured in my mind that my delivery would be like the last one: wait until he's ready, let nature take its course & count contractions then go to the hospital. So setting the May 1 induction date took some getting used to (I have to just let it go). And now this breech thing is a whole other wrinkle, as you know.
I guess I can say with certainty that come July 4th, we'll all be on the other side of all these issues and have a whole new basket of worries to work through! FX for happy healthy babies!
