We're all to that stage where are LO'S ears are developing and can hear It's been recommended to start reading to baby, and I've heard some people play music. What are you doing or thinking of doing? Are you using headphones?

We are listening to classical music.. piano concertos mainly! So lovely Nutcracker Ballet too. I am unsure if earbuds would work.. like.. one in my belly button to let sound travel through the amniotic fluid? I'm weird. Please advise. Maybe just a speaker near my belly would be better.

With DS I set my phone on top of my belly. His favorite artist was Johnny Cash. He would always always start dancing around in there when I played him Cash. Maybe that's why he loves music so much now.
I have belly buds. I like that they are set up to make sure baby can hear the music, but control the volume so it never gets too loud. The baby will hear the music better that way than just through your computer or phone or whatever. I put one on either side of my stomach, just a little lower than my belly button.
I read books out loud several times a week, and I use the belly buds three or four times a week too. I play lots of classical music- Chopin, Mozart, Bach, Rachmaninoff, etc. DH is a classically trained pianist, so he has lots of opinions on what the baby should be listening to. (I also sneak in some James Taylor, Billy Joel, Carole King, stuff like that. Lots of singer songwriters, because I think a lot of their melodies would be calming and pleasant.)

Your post reminded me of that vagina speaker that is supposed to be for baby's benefit. It's funny...

Well, now I feel like a loser because I'm doing none of this... I'll have to do better!!
Same. I haven't explicitly played anything for babies, but DD has become really fond of them. She's started wanting to give them hugs and kisses every night and she rests her head on my belly and sings and talks to them. Yesterday she sang twinkle twinkle little star and told them the sounds that animals make.
Hmmmm well right now I'm watching the proposal soooo "to the windows to wall"?
I'm a little embarrassed of the things this child has probably heard me sing in the shower. Anyone remember "I Luv Your Girl" by The Dream? No? Just me? What about Laffy Taffy by D4L?

I ate some laffy taffy that DH still had left over from Christmas. He won't miss it.

My FAVORITE line in the whole song is when he says "Girls call me jolly rancher, cause I stay so hard..." ........... and then the next line too I love the way he says "oh my god"

That's the part I keep singing!! Is that really desirable to women though? For a long time? That's not my idea of a positive, lol.

Hahahaha I feel like rap songs in that time period realllly wanted girls to enjoy that particular activity more than we typically do. 50 cent's candy shop is another example.

It's cute when men are such obvious dreamers. Plus, the thicker you are, the more it hurts your girl's jaw, and the less likely she is to go for that long, sooooo...Yeah. Anyway. I'm going to stop talking about blow jobs now.

Same. I did it with DS and didn't notice it helping so I just talk to her
Ummmm...i guess I'll start. dh and I are just our goofy loud selves and that's what baby has been listening to...i love classical (I played piano for 10 years) and that's gonna start being my go to playlist....otherwise it's been a bunch of 90s rock & ska, and some 80s rock lately regarding music.
eta: words...i got a new phone and it's still learning how I type.
Well I know i'll be an interesting Mom.... Baby has been listening to whatever i'm listening to, so "Classics" like Nelly, TLC, and other assorted 90's pop, rock and rap. Also some Country and DH listens to rock in the car. I tole DH baby can hear now and I told him what I've been listening to and he just laughed haha.
Nothing specific for baby. Never did specific music for my other two, either....

That sounds similar to what my LO is being introduced to
He's probably hearing "the farmer in the dell" over and over, because that's DS number one request. We also read a ton to DS, so that's easy. Honestly, I think the baby probably sleeps a lot and likes things to be quiet in there, especially with his older brother talking non stop.
I haven't played anything specific, but my baby has been listening to a lot of Josh Groban, Owl City, and Family Feud (I watch it while I'm making dinner). DH joked to me the other day that our little girl is going to be amazing at Family Feud.
When I was pregnant with DS, we watched an episode of Criminal Minds every night before bed. We joked he would be a sociopath. So far no warning signs!
This LO is listening to a lot of 90s rock and alternative. Should probably throw some classical in the mix!
When DS was born I got all these CDs called "Rockabye Baby" from the library. They are lullaby versions of popular bands. We have Pearl Jam, the Beatles, No Doubt, Queen, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Not quite the real thing but a good compromise when he needed to sleep and I was sick of Raffi
I haven't put anything up to my stomach for baby to hear, but I listen to TLC Radio on Pandora every morning.
@mrsmarygs Love Family Fued! My husband got on to me the other day because that's basically all I watch. I told him life is better with Family Fued and that I am building up my team for when I am on the show because DH sucks at it.
