  • @bridge-and-wall "Looking funny" is a relative comparison anyway. Fewer and fewer boys are having it done so being circumcised might be what "looks funny" in the locker room in 15 years.

This. This is a point I was trying to make with my SILs (one is a nurse) and my best friend - that this is a changing mindset. From lurking on the Oct board, 26% said they were NOT circumcising, and 14% are on the fence. so (potentially) 1 in 3 will not be.

@MyNamesTaken I'm not even bothering with BRU either.  I'm at the boycott stage with them.  I'm so thankful to be less than an hour away from Buffalo. Also going there for mat clothes because here seriously sucks for clothes.
I'm 2 hours from buffalo as well. Last pregnancy we took a trip and spent the night. I got an entire new wardrobe from buy buy baby and a motherhood outlet.  For like $300 i got everything I needed for work and casual.

I think it depends on where you live too and the culture, etc. In the South, most boys are circumsised. But I do agree not as many people are doing it that used to.
  • @jena333-2 we are in Ca, my son is not circumcised and I think it may be 50/50 here. We are having another boy and he also won't have the procedure. My husband is circumcised, but after researching and knowing I expected him to be present for the procedure, he made the final decision.

Weird story. I had a client ridicule me about not wanting to circ first son. Why he thought it was a good idea to bring it up, I'll never know. He swore up and down that my son would be at a higher risk for STDs. Also, he is Jewish and we are not. It's my kid's penis, back off dude.
  • People that don't know the proper place to talk about certain things...

    TW Below...

I was just in Motherhood Maternity and this woman was checking out and it was taking forever, so she starts talking to her mom about a friend of hers..

From what I overheard while waiting, this woman found out at anatomy Scan that her baby had a heart defect, she had the baby early and then at 6 days old the baby had open heart surgery.

I mean.. is this really appropriate place to talk about something like that? I was so annoyed.

  • @cmar1006  couldn't that wait til they got to the car?
  • @MrsVP614, we announced on FB around 15/16 weeks and before we did my two sisters were bugging me for days asking me when I was going to make the FB announcement. I was holding off because there were still a few people at work I wanted to tell first and didn't want the chance of them finding out from someone else before they heard it from me. Fortunately I knew neither of them would go ahead and post anything until I had, but it was still so annoying that they were pushing me to do it. It was so frustrating that they were trying to make my news in to their thing. It's my news and let me share it in my way!
  • @Rhubarb7216 Exactly! For some reason, so many people are so concerned over our social media posts. It's actually making me want to do it even less. We're excited, but we're not people who post everything we do on Facebook, unlike her. I've heard several times, "it's not official until it's on Facebook." Um, trust me, a social media post doesn't change whether I'm pregnant or not.

Your friends would hate me. No evidence on FB until I have the baby. It is one of my hard, fast rules with pregnancy. If you aren't related to me or don't see me in person (with VERY few exceptions) you likely don't know I am pregnant. I can't stand the over-Facebooking of everyone's pregnancy. I feel like nothing is private anymore- I don't need to know that a girl I haven't spoken to in 10 years is taking the 3-hour glucose test or is having trouble fitting into her clothes.

With my last pregnancy, it was because I was incredibly anxious over a very tough loss and didn't want to have to discuss it until the baby was a sure thing. This go-around, I just realized how much I enjoyed my privacy last time and decided to do it again.
