Well, my son is being a little bit of a butt head. He has recently started wanting to be up for a couple of hours after he wakes up to eat at night, and he cries pretty much the entire time. I figured out that if I lay my son across my legs and gently rock them back and forth it will get him to sleep. That's obviously a wonderful thing, but I realized I can't pick him up from this position without waking him up. Last night I got him to sleep like this, and then tried to move him to his crib. He woke up while I was trying to pick him up, and so I got to spend another hour trying to get him back to sleep.
I can't decide if its worth the peace and quiet I get when he falls asleep on me to do this. I guess if my options are to stay awake and have my child sleep on my legs or to stay awake and deal with a screaming baby, I should be content with the sleeping baby.
I'm a big fan of women's soccer, and KC has a women's professional team I follow pretty religiously. Attempting to take both boys to the preseason game here in my town tonight so DH can get caught up on schoolwork and grading. T LOVES soccer so I'm not worried about him. Hoping Atti will sleep in the lillebaby the whole time.

this weather has made taking the munchkins to the grocery store so much easier! (Well as easy as taking two under two to the grocery store ever is lol) I can park out father by the corral and get a cart, put DS immediately in said cart and leave him in it while I get DD in the carrier all without anyone freezing to death or getting soaked. It's amazing what a difference 20 degrees makes haha
Yes to the weather! My plan for the afternoon? Take my son outside to do "yardwork," aka pretend to rake, throw rocks, and pull grass up by the roots. Good times. Thank you 80 degrees.
Yesterday my baby girl was fussy but didn't want the breast, and holding her to my chest wasn't appeasing her either (and her diaper was clean), so I decided to try giving her a pacifier and it worked. She's 3.5 weeks. That was my first time giving her a pacifier... I had a total meltdown, LOL... Hubby kept asking me why I was crying... I told him I was heartbroken she wanted something other than me..... WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
@triwellnessgirl I can't wait to see all the styles you do for her hair. I LOVE babies born with a full head of hair - she's so beautiful!!
Aw thanks !!!!! I had a TON of terrible heartburn throughout my pregnancy so that old wives tale was def true for me, Hahaha.... even her back is hairy !!!! LOL
We're in the fun balding stage and using hydrocortisone cream to combat some cradle cap so it's hard to see the true shape of the head.
However, during the bath, I noticed he is looking a little lopsided. The flatter part is on the side that he always turns. I turned his head when he was asleep, but immediately went back. I try to limit gear but with a 2 year old in the house, the baby ends up in the bouncy seat and then there's the inevitable car seat.
Gah.. I would really like to avoid any flat head syndrome stuff. I was lucky my first and didn't have any.
Curious what others are doing for this ... and if I even posted this on the right board??

This is going to be a book. There's a pic at the end if you can make it. Sometimes life is the things sitcoms are made of.
Samantha is 5 days old today (well, I guess yesterday now). My mom is staying with us until Friday to help and DH doesn't go back to work until Wednesday. Tonight was the first time I've been left completely alone with Sam.
DH needed to run out to Target and Lowes and my mom ran to the grocery store for a few things. We ate dinner and I told them both to go, I can handle the baby.
As soon as the door clicks shut, Sam starts screaming. I changed her diaper and she starts rooting. She had just finished a feeding 30 minutes prior. So I nurse her and the dramatic screaming stops and she's all awake and happy. I took a pic (see below) because she was just too cute.
So I'm like "let's go do some tummy time, but Mommy has to pee first". I put her in the crib, grab the monitor, and head to the bathroom. Well, I didn't have to just pee and ended up clogging the toilet. The toilet starts to overflow! I grab the plunger and start plunging, eventually unclogging the toilet. Now there's toilet water all over the floor. I'm in my bare feet.
I grab a towel and throw it down in the hall so I don't start spreading toilet water everywhere. I suds up a face cloth, step out on the towel and clean my feet off. Meanwhile, Sam is cooing to herself as happy as can be.
I run and grab a mop, bucket, & pine sol. Trudge my way back through all this water and start picking stuff off the floor (not much stuff, thank you Jesus! Mainly just the trash can, scale, and the tote full of the hosptal goodies.) That all gets tossed in the tub. I mop up the water into the bucket and dump it. Sam's still happy as can be (I loved the juxtaposition of peace vs total chaos that was happening between the two rooms), so I figure I'll keep going and mop the floor with the pine sol.
I'm literally doing the last sweep of the floor when she starts fussing. I wipe my feet off again and then douse them and my hands with hand sanitizer. I pick her up and realize that she's wet, so diaper change it is.
She's all settled down and is awake. The floor is still wet, so I decide to let it dry before I go back to wipe down the toilet and the stuff that I threw into the tub. We sit down to read a story cause she's super alert. I grabbed "Are you my mother?" and as soon as the mother leaves the nest to go find food for her baby (which is like page 2),Sam decides she's hungry again. Apparently all this talk of mommy feeding baby reminded her.
So I finish nursing and put her up against my chest to chill for a bit and see if she's really done. This is when my mom gets home, followed by DH 2 minutes later. She comes to check on me and sees the bathroom torn apart & mopped and me topless with Sam on my chest. She gives me a puzzled look and goes "just felt like cleaning?".
I had remained cool and calm to this point, but realized that now I have to explain what happened and I just start hysterically laughing. My mom calls DH over because I've clearly lost my mind. By the time he's in the room, I'm laughing so hard that I'm crying. I explain what happened and they both look at me stunned. DH says "what the heck, we were only gone for an hour!" Yes, all this happened in an hour!!
They both got to work immediately. My mom took the baby and told me to go sit on couch. She changed Sam's diaper and brought me a piece of chocolate cake. DH asked what still needed to be cleaned and finished the bathroom.
We were all in giggled about it. DH is now really happy that my mom will be there for his first few days back at work.
And here's a pic of my very hangry caterpillar staring down the camera.
@RunBooRun oh my goodness your story just made me laugh so much!! That sounds like something that could happen to me too - your mom & DH sound like they're a huge help, glad you've got support like that! Oh and now I want chocolate cake haha!
@shines721 my first developed a bit of a misshapen head, but as soon as she started holding her head up by herself it went back to being round as can be
@RunBooRun Your story is priceless (as is Sam's hangry face)!! My story is not exactly the same but on par with toilet issues - On Sunday, I was on my own for the day as DH was at work. An hour after he left, I started getting really strong gas pains while pumping. I realized I hadn't gone #2 in a couple days and this was my time. Luckily, DD was fine chilling out in the crib. I waddled to the bathroom where I sat unproductively for 10 minutes. I got up and walked up and down the stairs, accidentally alerting DD to my far away presence with my climbing. She started fussing just as the urge to go started up again (and my bowel urges feel like labor pains and even act similarly). Long story short, I learned that day that it's possible to take an epic #2, all the while holding a paci to my baby's mouth and rocking an RnP with one foot! And DH wonders why I'm exhausted when he gets home.
@shines721 Atticus definitely prefers one side over another. He's seeing the chiropractor anyway to help his reflux, so she's been working on loosening up that side of his neck, too. At home, I just make sure during tummy time to turn his head the other way sometimes. Like @CanadianintheSouth said, once they start holding their head up and sitting up, any flatness usually evens out.

I just gave DD a bath and wrapped her up in a little hooded towel and she was being so cute and happy I decided to just hold her and rock her a little while before putting lotion on and redressing her.... Not even 30 seconds later she peed all down the front of me and all over the kitchen floor I have now officially been covered in spit up, poop, and pee by this little girl lol #motherhoodisglamorous
Baby's on his second nap today! I just might be fixing his sleep! Going to return to using the rock n play tonight since that's what got him the most sleep. Poor guy is so sleep deprived!

This thread is for anything!! Try switching what side of the cot you place his head on...not which way he's looking, but how he's laying. He might naturally be turning toward/away from a lighy or something. And watch whether you always hold him the same way and switch it up. Some people swear by chiropractor care.

Hildy peed on my stomach as we were doing skin to skin right after she was born

I got pooped on!! I didn't realize this was possible since babies ((DD1) don't poop till a day or two after birth.
@kjd291 I hope you are able to get your appointment soon and they don't make you keep waiting!
@longliveregina I unofficially got the go ahead on Monday at my appointment.. or at least the clear for 6 weeks which is Tuesday. I haven't completely shared that knowledge yet!

Forgot to strategically place a wipe as I was changing DS. He peed everywhere, including on his cute little FACE. I felt SO terrible. He started crying, I started crying, DH comes running in expecting the worst and finds us both sobbing with pee everywhere. He just ordered something called the "PeePee TeePee".
@jenny0228 yes! My sister told me to buy them, let me know how they work out for you!! This morning around 7:30 DS had 3 back to back diaper changes, first was mixed, second was pee, third poo... the second new diaper wasn't fully on him yet though when he started spraying up & out - all over him & all down the wall behind his dresser/changing area...so that was just lovely lol at least I was able to laugh through it all knowing it's probably the first of many like that unfortunately. DH was helping & doing the diaper so I guess he wasn't fast enough & didn't cover DS's peepee in time...oh well, lesson learned haha
My cleavage is proving quite useful this morning as it's caught all the crumbs from the crackers I ate...Now I'm wondering if I'm actually a messy eater & just never noticed before since I didn't have boobs, or if I'm just having a messy morning...

Haha. I was just realizing this too! all these shelf camis I'm wearing are storing a large amount of crumbs.
Perhaps the most random thing I never noticed until this moment, but DS's bedding has "89" all over it and that was his birth weight- 8 lb 9 oz! I knew this bedding set was too perfect for us, now it all makes sense!
Um, my son just pooped so hard that it filled his diaper AND SHOT UP, OUT THE BACK, COVERING THE BACK OF HIS PAJAMAS even despite the fact that I was holding him upright at the time. Are these the blowouts you STMS have all have been warning the FTMs of??? hahahaha. He's been fussy all morning and now he's fast asleep. Pooping is hard work when you're tiny.
