I have a question that I'm afraid will make me look like an AW, but here goes: As most of you have caught on by now, I work nights and my work usually slows down around 0300 CST. Is it ok that I start a lot of the weekly/daily threads? Because I'm still so new I don't want to step on anyone's toes; I'm just awake and have time to bump then.

I have a problem. Netflix recently added 'Schindler's List' to stream, and I've watched it at least 8 times since April 1st. It's 3 hours long. That's a full day of Schindler. And yes, bizarre choice of rewatch movie, but it's a cinematic masterpiece and as I've mentioned I'm a total history/WWII nerd, and I find the end of the movie very uplifting.

Damn Facebook memories. Three years ago, we were walking through Seattle Center and this couple was sitting in the grass while their baby crawled away from them and toward us. They didn't have any other kids with them but they must've been either the chillest first time parents ever or they had other kids somewhere. We were fawning over the baby (who kept getting farther and farther from his parents) and so his parents go, "You can pick him up if you want." DH picked him up and I took a picture and it came up in my FB memories. Just another punch to the ol' uterus.
Seriously though, those parents were either super relaxed, super lazy (DH set the baby down closer to them), or both. Also they didn't stop me from taking a picture. It was a really weird moment.

@loveindc I hope you don't take what happened there against you. While there were some valid points from current regulars - that the chart may not be effective - it was NOT going to change the culture here like some people may have implied. I still think it's a good idea if anyone feels the need to post it when people ask questions about posting in the grad thread.

I don't take it personally at all I even came in towards the end and agreed. It should probably just be posted as needed to help educate any newer members wondering when they'll hit "contributing member" status. I think the poll/thread was a great way to show that we all generally agree on the definition, which is a huge step forward for the board, so I'll take it
As for the chaos that ensued, I was more entertained than offended. Heck, nobody even addressed me, just the idea (which I put up for debate anyway). My "bucket list" comment was more about how I never thought I would ever start a thread that would go that south, let alone have people crawling out of the BMBs to brawl it out.

@morado23 I may have the UO here but there was a grad who would start the threads every. single. day. and I got a little annoyed when I would log on and would have a day that I wanted to start the thread. Honestly, I get a little annoyed and have side-eyed when one person starts the daily thread every day (or starts several of the weekly threads), especially when it's so early (or starts several of the weekly threads). I know I start them a lot and part of that is because when I get to work (around 7:30 ET) that's the best chance I'll have to bump for the day depending on what I have going on. And sometimes it may be that I get excited about a GTKY that I've thought of. I really like to try to keep them more upbeat (if you haven't noticed) because this process can really get to you and bring you down after a while.
That's just my two cents for what it's worth.

@LoveInDC Haha you can definitely cross it off your Bump bucket list!
On a related note, I'm definitely curious as to how they decide which comments were against the TOU and which weren't. I can kind of (if I reach) understand why mine got deleted, but feel like there are definitely some that were left up that were more of an attack.
@lulu1180 Oh that I definitely agree with and was glad to see it get removed. And I can kinda see why I got a warning/comment removed, as I basically said she should go back to her BMB and not be here (ish?) - but then other comments that came off as attacking towards antoto got left up. That's all I meant I was curious about...
While I would never want any of us to get a warning... sometimes a really nasty gif just feels so good. If I ever decide I don't want to be on TB anymore I might go out in an explosion of inappropriate gifs.
@morado23 I remember what @lulu1180 is talking about and I agree. And that one sometimes went one better and would then be crabby that other people didn't start threads. Um, it was still Thursday for me when she started Friday?! And there's still parts of the U.S. further behind than me! So, I say it's cool if you start them often because it stinks when you're up and ready to chat and you're waiting on everyone else but also, just be cognizant of the fact that other people want a turn, too.

@Avrilmai, @antoto - I never get notifications on mobile, so it's not a problem! Lol! But I did recently turn off a bunch of notifications.
@lulu1180 - I certainly don't want to be like that grad. So my follow-up question is do you feel like I personally start too many threads? I know that I do start a lot of the weekly threads on Monday morning (newbie, c/s&q, etc) it bothers me when we use a thread that's labeled for last week for the current week as well. But it's quite possible that everyone else is not as OCD as me.

I was supposed to go out with my Birthright friends this weekend, most likely tonight, but they suck at making plans. I can see why our people wandered the desert for 40 years- no one makes decisions. And knowing them, they'll decide at like 10 to go out in the city and I'm not hauling my ass in from an outerborough at the point. Why can't people just make decisions?

@jsnakehole - You must be hanging out with my cousin. She'll make "plans" to get dinner with me, but show up at 11:17pm. I keep crawling back because she's the most fun.
@msmeeseeks I wouldn't mind if they wanted to hang out late because they're a blast (albeit a super drunk blast), but they don't make decisions until last minute and I need time to take a shower, get ready, and then take an hour train ride. It's not worth heading out late for me because they'll all be wasted by the time I get there.

@jsnakehole - I hear ya! I kind of have that problem with my friends in general. I lived in the city for a while and all my friends lived in a different borough, so I was always like, hey wait for me! Now I live in a city where everyone drives and all my friends still live on opposite sides of town. So now it's like, we can't ever meet for drinks because we're too far apart and I have to drive. Also, everyone I know seems to be anti-plan.
