Re: Symptoms, questions, and concerns for the week of 4/8

  • @kbamomma33 I'm so sorry and I'm continuing to hope for the best for you!

@bravoandprosecco they actually upped my dosage the end of last month before my BFP - I called my endo when I got it and she wants to see me in six weeks for a recheck. My RE actually just drew my TSH on Friday too so I should get those results this week

  • @kbamomma33 I'm so sorry you are struggling right now... Sending prayers your way.

Any of you mommies have tips to stop dry heaving??? I spent most of last time in the bathroom yet nothing would come up and now I'm sore like I've been doing sit ups all night!!!
  • The insomnia has set it, which happened with my first too... Wide awake at 2 or 3am and a complete zombie the rest of the day.  Every. Single. Night.  I woke up the night before my BFP and every night since.  Thankfully the Great British Baking Show is keeping me company.

@kbamomma33 All the fingers crossed and good thoughts for you!
  • @stillclever17 I used to take Nexium, but during both of my pregnancies with my boys I was on Protonix. I've yet to find anything that works even half as well.

@kbamomma33 I'm so sorry, sending you happy thoughts and positivity!

@jlemons-2 I take One a Day prenatal gummies and they taste just like fruit snacks.
  • @kbamomma33 So sorry for all of the worry and stress this is causing. FX that it stays fairly light and goes away soon. Keep us posted.

@stillclever17 and any other ladies with heartburn -- I want to throw it out there that my DH used to have really severe heartburn and was proscribed a PPI like Nexium that worked well... until I read about all of the long-term side effects like a strong correlation with early dementia. I had him try apple cider vinegar supplements (pill form) and he hasn't taken a PPI in more than a year. He initially took the highest recommended amount (2 pills, 3x daily) and he now only needs to take the ACV supplements as needed. They aren't expensive and have a whole host of health benefits, I take them now too to prevent yeast infections.

  • @kbamomma33 just go to the ER. They will check to see if your cervix is open and do an ultrasound. You don't have to be soaking a pad an hour. We see women who are barely spotting.

  • I started having spotting earlier today and I freaked out and called the on-call dr. After 3 consecutive losses we weren't taking any chances. She chalked it up to our late night activities. Apparently when me and my husband did the deed last night he must have hit my cervix. And I guess the cervix is more sensitive during pg.  The dr wasn't concerned so I'm trying to play it cool too. Meanwhile my husband is saying calm down, your fine. It's easy for him to be calm and I'm envious of that. I'm hoping it was a one time thing.

Ho many other ladies have had spotting and turned out being fine?
  • @justsuzie it is VERY common to have spotting after intercourse when pregnant. I even had spotting after doing a self-cervical check before I knew I was KU (tracking my fertility signs) and that was much gentler than intercourse would be! The cervix is very engorged with blood and  much more friable when pregnant, so it bleeds easily. Try not to worry! Your husband is right, you're probably fine :)

I know this comment was probably meant to be supportive and helpful, and I don't want to put you on blast if that was your intention, but it's hitting me in a bad spot right now. As I said, I already spoke to a nurse, who knows my personal medical history and who I know personally and trust very much because she works for the practice who delivered my daughter and who has always given me phenomenal care. As I Also said previously, I am choosing to take her/their advice on when I should go to the ER.

I posted my symptoms here and then asked for positive vibes, etc, but I did not ask for medical advice or suggestions about what I should do at any time. Some of the ladies asked for updates, which I am happy to give and have given. I am also very grateful for all of the support and positive thoughts.

While I know that there are women who go to the ER for less, and that is fine, I don't feel like that is appropriate for me until certain things happen as suggested to me by my chosen medical professional. Additionally, I'm not comfortable going to the ER and dropping a ton of money when I can be seen in office, and get the same information that I would today, for my regular copay tomorrow. Suggesting that I "just go to the ER" right now, to me, sounds like implication that there is something that I could be doing that I am not, which is hurtful and not what I need.
  • @kvacmak thanks for the reassurance! Spotting has not returned.
  • @kbamomma33 You response to @PoeMasque was so eloquent and respectful, I don't know if I could have done the same in your situation. I agree with everything you said. Going to the ER is really not going to change anything, one way or another, at this point in time. I think you've chosen the most educated option and are being very level headed and honest with yourself about the situation, which i admire.
Just because some people choose to go to the ER for non-emergent issues, does not rationalize others going. You are doing everything 'right' so to speak, only time will tell. I hope so so much that you have a positive outcome and wish you the best.

@justsuzie I had spotting after sex quite a few times with my son, and we just chalked it up to a sensitive cervix. **TMI: it got worse as I got closer to my due date and I ended up gushing blood once at the end. Like, I was standing in a tub full of blood, but nothing was wrong at all. (That time the on call OB did ask me to go to L&D because I was 36 weeks or so.)

    edit because I can't type
  • @kbamomma33 my suggestion was in response to the stress you conveyed in your posts. There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to the ER for spotting/bleeding/cramping during pregnancy. It's not an "emergency" but it gives women answers when they are in limbo. A lot of women find that comforting and I would hate for anyone to sit at home fretting an entire weekend instead of getting answers if that's what would make them feel better. I'm glad you have a good relationship with your OB and you are right that knowing now or later isn't going to change the outcome. There's just nothing wrong with going to the ER, which was the intended message of my post.

Take it however you want to. I have never found anyone on these boards (well outside of the TTGP board anyway) to be malicious or callus in their posts and am frankly shocked that my post was taken that way.

  • @kbamomma33 I'm sorry. Still crossing my fingers so hard for you.

@CandyApple2012 I had read about ACV so I tried some diluted with water and honey the other day before I broke down and took the Nexium. It burned my stomach really bad. Then I read it can cause caustic burns. I was afraid that if there was already damage in my stomach (such as ulcers) it could irritate them and make everything worse. I didn't know pills were a thing though. I'll have to look into that.

I'm stuck in the quote box!
Anyway, I have found, in previous pregnancies, that if I chugged a large glass of water when I knew I needed to throw up I didn't dry heave just threw up. Just what works for me :) Good luck!

  • @kbamomma33 Hoping all turns out well! Please keep us posted
  • @kbamomma33 keep us updated momma! I'll be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow.

So so today was a full busy day in the ER and I barely got to eat yet alone sit down. I felt like I had a hangover all day with a headache and uneasy stomach and my back was killing me. At one point the charge nurse was like hey did you get your room clean yet and I just about bit her head off which isn't like me. She was just sitting on her butt talking I wanted to throats punch her. Never thought I would have mood swings. But the smells are starting to get to me too
  • @Bailey1823A The mood swings are REAL with me too. I felt irrationally angry and annoyed with a client (a sweet little old lady) because she doesn't like the same vacation spot as me....lol what? And yesterday I almost broke down in tears over the way DH parked my car.

  • Thinking of you today @kbamomma33 <3 Fx for a good appointment.
  • My mood swings are serious. My back is also achy. I'm also very itchy, not sure if i'm going crazy or if it's a real thing. I also sometimes wake up with a metallic taste in my mouth, i read to drink something acidic to counter act it but then the orange juice gave me heartburn. My worst symptom (thank God) I'm having loongg nights as well. i fall asleep fast but then i wake up tossing and turning all night. Therefore i'm super tired on top of my regular 2pm sleepiness. Can anyone else relate to my sleep problem? I see my DR tomorrow so if anything i'll be definitely asking.

Today i'm not feeling much which makes me a little anxious.

  • I'm having so much nausea today. It hasn't been that long since I was pregnant with DS but I still feel so unprepared to handle this. It doesn't help that I actually have to get up and take care of a little human instead of just lay in bed all day.
  • Very queasy this morning. It's weird because my cramping kind of died off a few days ago and I panicked a little bit thinking something was wrong, but then my breast soreness increased and the nausea definitely kicked in. I'm also still having a lot of discharge.

  • Did anyone have preeclampsia in a previous pregnancy and are you concerned about it happening again? I had it and it presented in the weirdest way and didn't show up till I was 35 weeks but it's kinda scaring me about having it again.

  • @drablnd my sister had severe preeclampsia. the doctor's told her to try to avoid it in her next pregnancy to take a baby aspirin daily. Also i just purchased a wrist blood pressure monitor to make sure i monitor that if it ever becomes a question. just listen to your body. if you feel you have high blood pressure then definitely speak to your DR. my sister barely had high blood pressure, so she would go to the doctor it would never show up in her appointments. they didn't catch her preeclampsia in her appointments. preeclampsia is no joke so just listen to your body and know to relax when you're doing too much and definitely speak to your doctor about it.

  • @eherm3 my blood pressure didn't get high till 35 weeks and I never had protein in my urine until they ran the 24 hr urine because I started getting dizzy at work and seeing spots. My doctor was super surprised when all my results came in. I did not have any liver or kidney issues but we delivered two weeks early just to be safe. I will talk to my ob on Friday about everything. Thank you

  • @drablnd same thing with my sister. she would get some like "heat flashes" and we think that's when she had little episodes of high blood pressure... nothing really noticeable. for that reason i bought the monitor just to have it around and my doctor also told me on my pe-pregnancy consult if i was really nervous about what happened to my sister that, i too could take baby aspirin just in case.

    best wishes!

  • @ameliabedelia-2 I'm with you... DH is dying for it, but I have no desire! I was told after transfer no sex for  the tww, so I checked with my nurses after my beta and they updated me. After getting a positive, they prefer no sex until you "graduate" to your OB... lol! I was so happy! lol...poor DH!
  • Ladies - I am new to the group and am so nervous. Last Tuesday, I started to have tannish spotting. Just when I wiped. I called my OB immediately and they sent me for blood work (based on my LMP, I was 5 weeks 2 days). Last Thursday, I went to do blood work again and by Thursday night I was bleeding. Not enough to fill a pad, but enough to scare me! In fact, I wore the same pad from 6 PM to the next morning and only had about 10 drops, no clots. Last Friday, my OB called me and told me my numbers more than doubled but they wanted to get me in immediately for an ultrasound. U/S showed that I had a gestational sac in my uterus, but not yolk sac or fetal pole. U/S Tech said it may be too early (LMP would put me at 5 weeks 5 days at that point). They sent me for more labs. I go again to get blood drawn today and on Wednesday. On Friday I go for another U/S. I am terrified that the baby won't be progressing. I have experienced brown spotting every time I wipe since Friday morning now. Not enough to fill a panty liner. Sometimes it looks a little stringy, but no clots. LMP puts me at 6 week and 1 day today. I have only had on and off sore breasts this entire time. Tired most days. I'm just really scared. This is my first pregnancy.
Is anybody experiencing this or has anybody experienced this in the past? I'm SO SO SO nervous!
  • @Kimbrlyg814 My OBs nurse told me that brown spotting is old blood and not as much of a concern until it becomes bright red blood. Hopefully everything goes well for you!
  • I'm only 4 weeks pregnant, but I don't have many symptoms at all so far. Just horrible acne! Wonderful.
  • @drablnd, I also had preeclampsia with my son and I'm a little nervous about going through it again. On the other hand, I just want to make it that far in my pregnancy! My OB has me taking daily baby Aspirin now and I'm also taking COQ10 as there have been some short term studies that show promise in it helping delay the onset of preeclampsia.

  • Thank you @mamabear0528! I'll keep you guys posted!
  • I'm starting to get really worried about my lack of symptoms. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow, but I don't have an appt until May 1st and since I don't have a history, my OB won't do betas or anything. It's not even that my breasts are kind of sore or I'm kind of nauseous once or twice a week. I'm so exhausted, but I also chase after a 15 month old all day, every day so that's not unusual. But aside from the frequent urination, sour stomach, and increased heartburn that I had when I first got my BFP, I'm really just not feeling pregnant. I haven't had any cramping or spotting, but I'm fearing a MMC. Any reassuring stories about no symptoms at 6 weeks with a good outcome?
