Re: Symptoms, questions, and concerns for the week of 4/8

  • Had my first ultrasound today and not looking too good. They saw a yolk sac and my gestestational sac measured right on target but the fetal pole was small (3mm). They said it could have been hiding behind the yolk sac....but I'm pretty bummed. I go back next Wednesday for another ultrasound to check for a heartbeat and growth. My estradiol and progesterone were great....was just hoping for better news at the first ultrasound.  :(

  • @ilikestars089 in my city you won't find an OB that will see you before 10 weeks and most scans aren't until 12. I'm a maternal/child nurse case manager, so I deal with OB offices all the time. It bothers me that women don't get a blood draw or at least a nutrition consult, but it is what it is.

@QsMadd hang in there! Early scans can be SO misleading! I've even heard of a twin not showing up until a 10 week scan, so try not to take it too hard.

  • Hey all! This question pertains to Endometrin suppositories. I've been on them since 2 days after my IUI. (March 10) I was released from my RE to Obgyn on Monday(April 10)when we heard little babes HB for the first time.  I'm 6w5d  just more recently like a few days ago I would get very light pink discharge on the applicator tip. RE said to be more careful when inserting it as the cervix is very sensitive now. Which I have been but tonight I feel like I did it wrong again and when I pulled it out it was more brownish red! Never spotting on my panty liners or wipe, just the very teeniest drop on the tip of the applicator. Any common experiences out there to help ease my mind?! So much appreciated  3
  • @QsMadd I am sorry you are feeling discouraged. Don't lose hope.  It's still so early and you never know what will happen! And do try to stay off Google.  All the research in the world won't change anything.  I make the mistake all the time of googling my progress compared to others and it drives my anxiety through the roof! Best of luck to you.
  • Praying for you!
  • @ShyTonia Same thing happened to me the day I had my first beta - my nurse said the same thing yours did...it was just the suppository or applicator upsetting the cervix a bit - said it happens a lot. No spotting since then, but fx for you!!!
  • @QsMadd On a serious note, I do hope your next us will show the little bean that hiding in there. On a lighter note, which mindless show?  :)
  • @QsMadd, I know it's stressful but my fingers are crossed it was just a little early for you. Hopefully you have a great scan next week!

My symptoms are falling asleep on the couch by 8pm, nausea, some slight cramps and basically needing to bite my tongue to not be a world-class grouch right now.

  • @jljeanblanc thanks girly! It's just so scary TW****because of my past losses*****TW DH are finally able to be more excited since we heard the HB. But then this started, literally the morning I went in for US.(Monday) it was fine this morning. TMI warning..... lol I just didn't put it as high up and I read some where to point it alittle more towards your lower back(not straight up) I am just trying to stay in the moment till next appt! Hehe have a great day xo
  • I guess I can add vivid dreams to my symptoms list - what fun!  I had a dream last night that I was bleeding (not a ton, but enough to be scary), and woke up mid-dream to some fierce cramping.  It took me a second to recognize it as gas cramps (oh, the joys!), but that one second of panic did not make for a fun 6am wake up call!  Lunatic that I am still had to get up to POAS before going back to sleep  :#

  • @Piccola1988 I know that feeling. I had an extremely vivid dream that my hairdresser was my new ob and I gave birth to a 23lb baby. Woke me up out of a dead sleep

Late to the party (as usual). I haven't really had many symptoms but I'm only 4w6d. My breasts starting getting sore today. I am in bed by 7:30 the past 2 nights. I had some spotting last night but hoping all is well.

  • My hands have been tingling when I feed DD. It makes me super nervous, because I had pregnancy induced carpal tunnel with her. It was miserable. Totally cleared up after she was born. I was hoping to avoid it this time around.

  • Hi all! I'm sure these have all been addressed in various replies here, and I apologize in advance for not reading the entire thread but I just need to vent for a second.  I haven't told anyone in my life yet and my BF can't relate for obvious reasons.

I do not believe I had any of the symptoms I am having with this pregnancy with H's.  With my first pregnancy (H) I was just blindingly exhausted all. the. time.  With this pregnancy I am experiencing:
    • Insomnia (I'll wake up between 2-4 and be wide awake and the time I wake up seems to get earlier and earlier with each passing night)
    • Metallic taste in my mouth all the time making me nauseous on top of pregnancy nausea
    • morning sickness.  luckily no vomiting yet (TMI Sorry!), but I almost would prefer to vomit and not feel hungover or motion sick ALL DAY.
    • no hunger. what-so-ever.I can't even bring myself to drink water and I used to drink almost a gallon a day pre-pregnancy.
    • MOODS! I have no filter right now.  Like a 90 year old grandma, what's on my mind just comes out.
    • gas like no other. This combined with nausea is super fun! And they seem to agitate each other. It's splendid.
OK. That's enough whining on my part.  Sorry to be such a negative Nancy! I promise to perk up soon!!!

    Hugs to you all!!
  • OH! Also, are anyones clothes already not fitting?!? I'm sure bloat and dehydration aren't helping my cause. But geez I was hoping to make it through the first trimester without buying any new clothes since I just purchased new clothes a week before my BFP.

My BF mentioned when I was looking at maternity clothes, "You won't need those for awhile why are you looking?" I just smiled.... haha

Anyone else who has done this before totally forget what early pregnancy is supposed to feel like? Today my lower back has been killing me all day, but it seems way too early for that to be starting. Why can't I remember any of this stuff???
  • @NME44 My back is KILLING me too and I can't get comfortable.

I "love it" because we can commiserate. I obviously don't "love it" though ;-P
  • @NME44 I actually found that lying on the hard floor worked best?! I'm sure tomorrow it'll be a different ailments.
  • Odd symptoms of the week: tailbone gets sore if I sit for too long, shooting pain to my anus, yes anus (thankfully very brief!), and it feels like I did a bunch of sit ups - sore abs!

  • I feel like I'm about to get my period any minute and it's freaking me out!
  • @alyssaleighw I felt like that from 4.5 to 5.5 weeks. Now at 6 weeks 2 days it's gone.
  • @alyssaleighw I HATE that feeling! It's nerve wracking. Hopefully it goes away soon.
  • QsMadd  Hoping everything is caught up on your next scan!
jesrude  Yup.... bloating for sure (I am also on progesterone and estrogen so that probably doesn't help), but also major discomfort at any pressure around my waist. Same happened last pg (**tw mc'ed at 10 weeks) when I basically had to start wearing 1st tri maternity pants by week 5. I still have them so I'm wearing them again. I guess if you have leggings that may get you through. Some of my regular leggings are already uncomfortable.....
AFM... I've had roving symptoms since week of transfer of mild nausea, dizziness, cray dreams  and cramping.
Today is the first day I kinda feel like: uh oh... tummy troubles coming, like seriously. I'm not throwing up... just starting that constant "offness" of smells and taste and unsettled tummy-ness. I couldn't be happier.
  • Concern:  zika :(  Does anyone have any travel plans in at risk areas, or has anyone spoken to their doctor about it?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @Piccola1988 We traveled to Punta Cana this summer that had Zika warning. The resort  claimed they sprayed daily. I did get one mosquito bite while I was there. Personally I would stay away even though they say Zika is more of a concern in the lower socioeconomic areas. Paranoia isn't worth it to me.
  • @justsuzie definitely agree about the paranoia!

I should add the trip in question is for my husband's job or I wouldn't even be considering it.  It would cause some issues for him if I had to cancel and he would be super upset, so I am weighing the options carefully.  The location is the Caymans where they have an intense mosquito eradication program and haven't had a case since December (and only had 30 total cases, some of which weren't locally transmitted).  I need to decide soon but I'm really torn.

  • *lurking from NovBMB* @Piccola1988 DH and I went to Jamaica and Grand Cayman for our honeymoon in July and August. I had the bands, sprays, and lotions. Cayman doesn't have a lot of foliage to spray and most people stay at hotels, not resorts. We were fine until one night when we walked out to dinner. I got destroyed in a matter of 30 seconds. It was better once I put the lotion on in addition to the bands, but it was bad. I will post a pic when I'm not on mobile. DH is going to Mexico for his best friend's wedding in a couple of weeks and all of the doctors said he shouldn't and that I absolutely can't.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

my 2 cents.. i'm literaly DYING to go to the Caribbean... Hell, Florida even. Not doing it. Staying in Zika free zones... My clinic basically says nope...no zika zones, but even if they didn't, I wouldn't. Not while TTC or pg

@Piccola1988, I absolutely wouldn't go. As it is, I'll be spending most of this pregnancy inside, in Texas.
  • Thanks @NYTino24 @dragonette505 & @NME44.  It's really helpful to have some more perspectives.  I wish it was just a regular vacation - then the decision would be so simple.  Actually, I guess if I had a wish it would be that zika just wasn't a thing!

@Piccola1988, is there a reason your husband can't go without you? Although, disclaimer, my understanding is that Zika can be sexually transmitted, so he really shouldn't go either...
  • @Piccola1988 I hear ya! Social/work stuff is tricky but nobody on the planet can make you endanger your baby. I can only hope this baby I am carrying is finally my take home baby... I'd do anything to keep him/her safe... I'm sure you would too! But ultimately you gotta do what works for you and your family so no judgements from my side.... hoping things work out :)
  • @Piccola1988 I completely understand the hesitation. I love cruises but most of the destinations include Zika zones. I talked with my RE before getting pregnant and she asked me point blank if it was worth it. Was vacation worth the consequences. That put it into context for me. I know yours is more work related but I think the sentiment applies.

  • @Piccola1988 I actually live in South Florida and Miami is a 30 minute drive. I wear lotion and spray constantly and we get our yard sprayed. There hasn't been a positive Zika test in Florida since November, but I'm still very cautious. The added worry sucks. :(
