@LosAngelesMama@MrsVP614 Have either you ever tried long-haired cats? My aunt is insanely allergic to cats but my grandmom used to have a Himalayan (Siamese + Persian, think Sassy from Homeward Bound) and she could spend all the time in the world around that cat and be fine! It was the weirdest thing, so I always wondered if it was just her or if it's a "thing" for other people too.
My MIL is the same way... she's always been allergic to cats, but my very long haired cat (she is part Maine Coon) doesn't bother her a bit.
@labby18 but define "throwing a fit" for us. If that's raising awareness so others will also write to the appropriate people then they're doing what they should. I'm a Canadian liberal feminist atheist so I find almost everything trump does to be offensive. It hurts my heart that so many people voted for him and it makes me happy whenever I see a protest or news article or whatever angering people and motivating them to take action.
I think she was talking about the looting and rioting part. I as a conservative do not mind protests, boycotts, raising awareness and so on, as long as it is inside the realm of the law.
I am not condoning breaking the law whatsoever. However, I understand the frustration of not being heard, listened to, given a voice, represented fairly, etc. When people don't feel valued or like their voice matters, the result is "throwing a fit" because the general you will finally start to listen. It opens dialogue that was previously being dismissed for whatever reason.
@Swazzle I grew up in an animal free house. My mom doesn't like animals and never allowed us to get anything other than fish. So I've never tried looking for a cat I wasn't allergic to. Also - my first experience with living with a dog was terrible as well. He was the devil and hated everyone. He was a my roommates and was chihuahua dachshund mix. The first three days we lived in our apartment, my bedroom door wouldn't close, and all three days he took a poop on my bed. Not fun.
I am mildly allergic to cats, and I have one anyway. It only causes problems when I wake up and realize that she's been sleeping on my face for hours, and I'm at the end of the effectiveness of my allergy medicine. She's my first baby, so it's totally worth it!
Story time! *TW* DH got me my first kitten ever (always wanted one, but my parents were dog people only) for our first anniversary. We ended up having to put her down nine months later because she contracted FIP, and the medicine to fight it stopped being effective. The same morning we had to put her down was the same morning I confirmed that I was miscarrying out first baby. I was a mess. I held our cat as she died, and was reluctant to let her body go. Then I sat in the vet examination room for three hours, unable to collect myself enough to drive home.*end TW* The next day the rescue we had originally adopted our kitten through called and said they wanted to give us a free cat, we could choose anyone we wanted, but they had a one year-old siamese who might be perfect for us. She had been found in a raccoon trap, was scared of nearly everything, and desperately needed a home that could give her lots of attention and help rehabilitate her. DH didn't want a new cat just yet, but I desperately need something to focus on, so I picked Cambria up the next day. We were quite the pair that first week- she wouldn't come out from under the love seat in our office except to eat while we were sleeping, and I refused to leave the house or eat or do anything but try to get the cat to like me. Then one night I woke up and she was curled around my head, and she hasn't really left my side since. She's affectionate, playful, and cuddly now, you'd never know that we literally had to teach her how to play. I needed someone who needed me back then, and I like to say that really, we rescued each other.
Ok, that was long. Sorry! But I adore my cat, and when I say she's my baby, I'm not joking around!
But back to the maple syrup thing.. looove pure maple syrup! Anytime DH goes to Canada, I make him bring me syrup!! What's weird.. this pregnancy won't even let me tolerate it. It makes me really sick. Which makes me really sad. But mint chocolate chip!! The ice cream is one of my favorite flavors! I had mint chocolate chip ice cream cake last night
Also, hate Nicholas Cage, but love Jim Carrey! I randomly send my 18 year old nephew pictures of Nicholas Cage's face on animals...
My cat was my first baby. Then the dog. But my cat is starting to get on my nerves a tad. I love her to death. But she licks butter and the other day knocked my cereal bowl over. And she throws up in random places and scratches our couch. Every thing in our house is bad though, cat, dog, toddler. Wait......is it us?
She is very pretty, and so so sweet. She's a bit odd though... loves to play fetch and play with water. She also chirps at things, which is pretty funny. I couldn't find a picture to show how big she is... not gigantic like full Maine Coons, but she probably weighs about 18 pounds.
I'm allergic to cats (mildly), so is DH. I like dogs better anyway. Also, my large dogs chase all non-dog animals off of our property, including stray cats, so I doubt we could bring one home.
I refuse to discuss politics because I have pretty strong opinions about our current situation and I get enough propaganda from the other side from my mom. I will just ignore all political posts on here unless I'm in a particularly bad mood.
I also hate cheesecake and I'm not a huge fan of Jim Carrey or Nicholas Cage. Could probably live without either one of them.
@mrs_tacos Now I'm over here crying. Touching! @swazzle I know some breeds of dogs are hypoallergenic. I wonder if long hair cats would be similar to that.
Yup @mrs_tacos I'm silently crying while reading your story so as not to wake DS sleeping on me. I'm so glad you two found each other, sounds like it's a perfect match!
@HollyGolightly09 She is so gorgeous! I want a big, fluffy, fat cat so badly. My littlest cat, Brody, loves to play fetch! DH actually hid his favorite mouse from him one night because he thought 2am was a great time to play and now neither of us can find it anywhere.

While typing I missed some posts and realized I forgot to say I only do Maple Syrup!
I like almost all cheeses, Swiss is probably my least favorite though.
There are some cats that can be hypoallergenic just like some dogs. But it's still best to visit a breeder to check and be prepared for a trial period with the one you adopt because it's not 100%.
And OMG @mrs_tacos, I'm so happy you found Cambria. It sounds like she was exactly what you needed right then and you were exactly what she needed
I refuse to discuss politics because I have pretty strong opinions about our current situation...
Ditto!! But I can't resist sharing photos of my kitties. I am allergic to them but allergies have gotten better over time. Thought I hated cats until I met a nice one when I was 22. We had 3 until last year when we had to say goodbye to our 19.5-year-old girl.
Catsby is the orange one. He'll be 11 in June (ish...we found him on the street). Baxter is the black one. He turned 8 a couple of weeks ago and we got him on my 25th birthday. I can tell way more stories but I'll stop there.
@mrs_tacos Ditto with everyone on the crying. That is a sweet story and just perfect.
Several of my friends and I have a group text where we just share cute pictures of our cats and cat memes. These are my two... Huey on the top, Simon on the bottom.
Man!! I go to work and I log into TB and this thread already has three pages!! I'll have to go through them when I get off work lol.
My UO is I think sharing breastfeeding pics/videos publicly online is a bad idea. I guess not so much so if your profile is private. But I don't think anything on the internet is completely private nowadays.
A lot of times pictures can get stolen and used for "other purposes" and posted to other websites as there are a lot of creeps out there.
I once approached a man trying to discreetly take a video of a woman breastfeeding her child at a park and she had no idea. I snatched his phone and deleted it and then he ran away.
@wyomama0427 He seemed young and dumb but it infuriated me. And scared me a little bit too at the idea of such nasty perverts out there. (I wanted to call the cops but the mom begged me not to.)
I am all for breastfeeding and feeding baby whenever and wherever they are hungry. It's just sad that sometimes it can't be done without people being perverts.
I feel so late to the party but here it goes: @Swazzle cottage cheese and wheat thins are my thing. I have to be in the mood for it but when I am I can eat a whole tub in one sitting if I don't watch it. @MrsVP614 my heart broke a little reading your dislike for cheesecake @cats*in*space I'll share the fake stuff with you!
My UO is I think most if not all of Tim Burton's movies are weird. I can't get into them.
@Ae_Lovely321 I agree, I've only seen a few Tim Burton movies and I don't like any of them. Also can't watch Johnny Depp movies, which happen to be many of the same.
Thanks, guys! Sorry to make you cry. I told Cambria she is internet famous today, and she just licked my finger and went back to sleep.
This is her, btw, sitting like a little lady on the back of the couch.
She's so pretty! I have a Siamese cat that is almost 18 years old... but she stayed with my parents, because you just don't move a cat that old from the only home she has known. She has dark brown tips, though.
I want to formally apologize to my kitty. I feel bad for what I said I about her. I know she's just sad cause she's not getting all of the attention anymore. I love her, even when she does stuff like this:
@Mrsmarygs I only liked him in pirates of the Caribbean, but his character got on my nerves a couple times. His characters in Tim Burton Movies creep me out.

My UO is that I think wearing shirts that purposely show your bralette is trashy.
