@momifbysea FX you are the first one if your group with have a healthy live birth @cmiller73 that's great!!
ladies on gonal, what is your dosage? I'm wondering if there's a standard starting dose. I guess same question for Menopur.
I'm not on gonal, but am taking 225 units of Follisitm and 225 units of Menopur each evening. So far, the injections haven't seemed too bad, thankfully.
So I'm going to be doing 150 of follistim in the morning and 150 of Menopur in the evening, before adding Ganirelix and Ovidrel at some point Tbd. Also I'm taking dexamethasone during this time, not sure what this one is for but hoping for no (or minimal) side effects.
@Momifbysea at some point I'll be adding dexamethasone (I think, I know I'm adding a steriod and that name sounds familiar) as well, also an antibiotic and baby aspirin. Haven't been given the start date for those yet.
@MMD1986 yeah that makes sense. I had to do 2 antibiotics (Flagyl just to rule out bacterial vaginosis as it's linked to increased miscarriage rate, and Augmentin). I took those 7 days each while doing BCPs over the last couple of weeks.
@artemis0685 I was told no exercise except a light stroll once I started FSH until ER. So far they haven't said anything to me about post ER!
1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN
May 2017- Hysteroscopy
June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.
November 2017- Hysteroscopy
January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!
I am out. After 8 days on stims, the doctor cancelled our cycle. My estrogen never went up and I didn't produce enough measurable follicles. I can't even turn this into an IUI. I am super sad.
@cashewchicken Thanks. I have 7 mature as of yesterday scan and possibly by tomorrow I will have 9 mature. I hope it is a good number.
@Momifbysea and @brooklyngirl18 you guys AMH numbers are great. Mine used to be 3 two yrs ago and now 1.55. This 1st IVF, I was taking 1 vial to 2 vials of menopur and 200 to 300 units of gonal f and then ganirelex and ovidrel.
@mtele Smart move to order overseas! I got my meds from Freedom and my OOP cost was $600. my insurance has a med benefit of $10k in addition to the $15k for IVF (sorry if I didn't make myself clear in my earlier post). I believe that gives me 10 days of stims which I'm anxiously awaiting to begin Friday evening. Now I'm waiting on AF but I can feel she's on the way (I stopped BC pill on Monday after about 2 months)
After being relatively healthy my entire life I've had 2 surgeries in the past 2 months. My laproscopy for endo then I had oral surgery for a tooth extraction last week. I figure it's time to get comfortable being uncomfortable I just assume the stim meds won't be a walk in the park. But who knows? The waiting and anticipating is driving me insane.
@brooklyngirl46 It sounds like we are quite similar! My AMH was 8.3, but I don't have PCOS. I'm taking 225 Gonal-F and 75 Menopur, with Ganirelix added day 6.
On US today (day 8) I had 20-25 follicles, ranging from 14-19mm. Apparently my estradiol is high (~2000) so we will not be doing an hcg trigger but Lupron instead. So I'm feeling pretty anxious about OHSS The plan is to do egg retrieval Sunday (day 12), although I wish they had moved it up a day. I have no idea what to expect for how I will feel Monday. Should I take the day off of work? I feel like the direction I'm headed, my embryo transfer might be cancelled?
@cmiller73 oh ok! That's a very different protocol then what my doctors office has...FX that you figure things out soon!
@brooklyngirl18@Momifbysea yes I felt the same way about stims but yeah it does get easier and the anxiety goes away after the first few times! Hang in there! When I was on gonal my dosage was 200 then down to 175 a few days after
@mjpbarretto- I'm nervous and excited about this cycle too. I'm starting stimulation injections on Friday too!
@Momifbysea- My doctor mentioned that the long-agonist is the 'classic' protocol, so I assumed that's what most people did, or they used to. At my clinic, he does mainly luteal stimulation, where you start stimulation during luteal phase after ovulation. I know antagonist protocol is the protocol that is used for most PCOS patients. I have polycystic ovaries but not PCOS. My AMH is 11 but I'm going to do long-agonist, due to the low % of mature egg issue. I'm really really afraid of OHSS though.
@brooklyngirl18- I'm starting with 175 IU of follistim morning & night (350 IU/day), and gradually lowering the dose after that. No Menopur, and I'll be supplementing follistim with microHCG.
Me: 41 DH: 46 Unexplained infertility/AMA, polycystic ovaries, insulin resistance FET#1(July 2017): eSET of first of 4 PGS-normal embryos, DS born 3/30/2018 FET#2(Oct/Nov 2019): eSET
@KLake42- That's clever. I'll try to take a picture of the screen next time. At my first clinic, the doctors always logged off the computer immediately after the scan. Now that I remember, I don't think this clinic logs out after the scan. Thanks for the tip!
@wanderlust14- Hope you don't get OHSS. Lupron trigger should cut down on the risk of OHSS, and if you decide to not transfer this cycle, then it definitely will be better for OHSS, if you are at risk for it.

@immiet I'm really sorry @mjpbarretto@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake@cashewchicken we can by cycle buddies!! I start tomorrow also with Gonal F and Menopur. good luck!! I'm supposed to get AF before starting stims also, I stopped bcp monday so hopefully it'll come some time today. I'll be devastated if my RE pushes me back due to that ugh. @wanderlust14 I've never had an egg retrieval but from what I've read it seems most girls prefer to have the next day off to recover but everyone responds differently. good luck!

I had my baseline us/bloodwork appointment this morning - lining looked great and no cysts or anything so I'm cleared to start stims Monday morning! Looks like several of us are within a couple of days on our calendars, good to have buddies through this journey!
As for me, I started CD 1 yesterday and I have never been so excited/anxious to see AF in my life. For me, that means that I start taking estrace and baby aspirin in addition to the mountain of meds I was already on.... DH and I both had to submit some blood work for testing and then about CD 15 DH will contribute his sample and they will thaw our eggs and fertilize. Hopefully, we will have a good fert report and on or around CD 21 (April 25), I should have my transfer.
The countdown is on!

Yay for cycle buds! It's comforting to know I've got friends going thru the same process! Being my first IVF experience, I'm pretty nervous. We've been doing a lot of acupuncture (my SO is a licensed acupuncturist) at home and I've been trying to eat healthier to prepare. But I'd love to hear how everyone is mentally and physically preparing!
@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake I've been wanting to try acupuncture but scared of needles. I think the only time I suck it up is during stimulation injections lol.
mjpbarretto You've probably heard this before, but it's really not painful. The needles are very thin. And this is coming from me, who is INFAMOUS for my fear of needles. I think SO is dreading giving me my injections (there's no way I could shoot myself up) b/c I'm such a baby about it. Which is embarrassing to admit, but so true!
@Rachel_leigh22 well I just got 'tapped' to go into the game again... so now its back to my prime cycle of patches and cetrotide then to await AF.
@JamieH2000 So I kept your advice close to heart and when I didn't see anything register on the OPK after 5 more days, called the RE and went back in for bw. Results came back and I O'd somewhere in there! Levels look good and based on my normal cycle times, RE wants me to start priming asap (normal AF would come in 3 dang days!) so we will now see when she decides to show up... on time or fashionably tardy.
@cmiller73- glad you went back in! If it was sometime in the past 5 days hopefully you will still get a week of priming in! Luteal phases are suooosed to be 10-14 days long I believe! So exciting to get started again! I'm still delayed since I had a follicle or cyst at my baseline so now they are hoping i ovulate it and then start estrogen priming after that!

@JamieH2000 I hope that I prime for a week! Last time it was only 4 days! If it was a week then DH would be around for ER and be able to give a fresh sample... otherwise we might have to freeze some just in case (unless he cancels his Vegas business trip which is unlikely since it is his company's sales kickoff for the new fiscal year haha)
@cmiller73- well then I really hope it waits a week so he can be there!! Keep us posted!

@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake You're so lucky! Or rather, you chose your SO well I remember one time I had a massage that made me wonder if my masseuse was married . I usually get acupuncture to calm me down and find it super relaxing - I fall asleep nearly every time!
@cmiller73 Glad you confirmed O. The only time I've ever seen a positive OPK on the Wondfos was when I was *TW* pregnant and experimenting with them. Otherwise, mine always look not quite there (the same maybe, but never darker). When I was using them last month to determine when to start the lupron they had me confirm with a digital for the first time - much clearer
AFM, I just triggered for a Saturday AM retrieval. I sort of think they should have triggered me yesterday for a Friday retrieval (largest follie was already 23 on Wednesday/yesterday and I'm not a fan of sacrificing the big one, but trying to trust the professionals). Also my E2 that day was more than double what it was last time three days before retrieval...anyone know if E2 isn't usually higher with the lupron protocols than with antagonist?
Had a minor breakdown in my RE's office yesterday when we talked about drugs/procedure just in case of a fresh transfer. I'd been pretty good about taking it a day at a time before then. The whole reason we jumped to IVF was to test and bank, and I think it didn't quite hit me till actually talking about it that this cycle could go as poorly as the last one did (no blasts). *Really* hoping the protocol change made a difference (and that all my eggs aren't post mature).

@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake I'll have to try it sometime. I can't give myself the injections so thankfully my husband doesn't mind. I also think he tries to be brave when he does give my shots lol
@artemis618 I was at 3450 or something ridiculous when I triggered. I didn't experience OHSS either. The lupron trigger worked like a charm and dropped that E2 level back very fast. This time I am dual triggering unless my E2 is over 3500 (I lost about 12 eggs somehow... empty follies!) and they hope that the dual trigger will help with that. GL on Saturday! Keep us posted (FX for a great retrieval!)

Things didn't go as I'd hoped this morning at my ultrasound. After 4 days of stims I have one follie at 14 on one side, the other side has a 4 and a 5. I'm not sure what to think, the nurse said it's still early so wasn't too concerned about only having three, but was concerned the others won't catch up to the 14. She said she will call this afternoon after they get my labs results and talk to the doctor. I'm just not sure what to think.
I have a feeling we will have to cancel this cycle. Which sucks because the meds were sooo expensive and I'm so sick of having something wrong every time I turn around it feels like.
@fivetimesnoluck good luck! I have everything crossed for you. @artemis618 good luck with the egg retrieval, i hope this one goes better for you! @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake that's awesome that SO is an acupuncturist. i'd love to try it but it's quite expensive and not covered by my insurance. maybe one day. @mmd1986 FX the others catch up and you don't have to cancel.

Thanks @brooklyngirl18 and @aera11! My doctor decided to cancel my cycle because of the lack of response and low estrogen levels. We have an appointment scheduled with him on 4/28 to discuss the cycle and how I responded. He'll also go over a different protocol to try and go over what he thinks our chances of success are, as he can't promise I'll respond to a different protocol. Sucks, but it is what it is I guess. Just hoping he doesn't think our chances are too low to continue in the future.
Good luck to all you ladies this cycle! Fingers crossed for you all.
Today is the day! Day 1 of stims! I took my steriod pill this AM and SO will be watching med teach videos this afternoon for a refresher. We'll be injecting when I get home from work at 10p! (Gonal F 300 IU + Menopur 75 IU) @mjpbarretto
@cashewchicken Anyone else beginning their meds today? I hope everyone keeps providing updates - I'm so interested in each person's unique journey. xoxo
Sorry about the cancellation @MMD1986. Can you convert to IUI? Each attempt does yield new information though, so hopefully that will help your RE with next steps. I know it's painful to think of the sunk cost, but at least you avoided the additional costs of a retrieval if things weren't going as well as they could have been. My apologies - I don't recall what protocol you were on. I understand that agonist can be better for synchrony (I did not have that particular issue, but tried it this time to do something different - last time I used up one of my two insurance-subsidized cycles and ended up with nothing).

On US today (day 8) I had 20-25 follicles, ranging from 14-19mm. Apparently my estradiol is high (~2000) so we will not be doing an hcg trigger but Lupron instead. So I'm feeling pretty anxious about OHSS
AMH 8.3
April 2017: IVF/ICSI #1 - BFP singleton (20R, 14M, 12F, 5B: 2 transferred, 3 frozen)
@brooklyngirl18 @Momifbysea yes I felt the same way about stims but yeah it does get easier and the anxiety goes away after the first few times! Hang in there! When I was on gonal my dosage was 200 then down to 175 a few days after
@Momifbysea- My doctor mentioned that the long-agonist is the 'classic' protocol, so I assumed that's what most people did, or they used to.

@immiet- I'm sorry.
@Nim- 9 mature sounds like a good number!
@wanderlust14- Hope you don't get OHSS. Lupron trigger should cut down on the risk of OHSS, and if you decide to not transfer this cycle, then it definitely will be better for OHSS, if you are at risk for it.

@mjpbarretto @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake @cashewchicken we can by cycle buddies!! I start tomorrow also with Gonal F and Menopur. good luck!! I'm supposed to get AF before starting stims also, I stopped bcp monday so hopefully it'll come some time today. I'll be devastated if my RE pushes me back due to that ugh.
@wanderlust14 I've never had an egg retrieval but from what I've read it seems most girls prefer to have the next day off to recover but everyone responds differently. good luck!

@Momifbysea congrats! Here comes the injections. Never thought I'd be this excited to get poked.

We've been doing a lot of acupuncture (my SO is a licensed acupuncturist) at home and I've been trying to eat healthier to prepare. But I'd love to hear how everyone is mentally and physically preparing!

@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake You're so lucky! Or rather, you chose your SO well
@cmiller73 Glad you confirmed O.

I have a feeling we will have to cancel this cycle. Which sucks because the meds were sooo expensive and I'm so sick of having something wrong every time I turn around it feels like.
AFM- i had another appointment this morning and was given the official official go ahead to start gonal and menopur tonight. I already have 20 follicles on my right ovary and 15 on my left. SO scared for ohss.
