FFFC

What is your flame-free* Friday confession?

*not actually guaranteed to be flame-free
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • I didn't wash my hair last night and I have ALL the dry shampoo in it right now.

  • @ElizabethSchuyler I washed my hair on Sunday. Shame. To be fair I only wash my hair twice a week anyway because it's really thick and doesn't get greasy for a few days. Sundays and Thursdays are my hairwashing days but I got home from book club at 10:30 last night and just crashed.

  • Motherhood taught me something, did you know if you go long enough without washing your hair you actually get headaches from the weight of the oil pulling on your roots? For me that time frame is a full week. Yep.

I don't want to see first tri simulations of what the embryo looks like in the first few weeks or really most of first tri. Did that last pregnancy on TB app and now it's upsetting. Ultrasounds don't bother me though. Maybe seeing it in color makes it more real? Who knows.

Also, my students can bring a fruit or veggie snack only because some have allergies, they get all hyped up on junk, and it's messy. However, I will pop a chocolate or other non-healthy snack occasionally if my sugar is low. IDC.

  • DS has the sniffles (and I'm begging the universe for it to not end up being something worse) so we'll probably spend most of the day watching tv in our pjs.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I've had a few friends that have announced on FB basically as soon as the pee stick was dry (some even via multiple pics of pee sticks) and then they update eveerrrry single week with the size of the baby, starting at 4 weeks.  It's hard not to side eye!

That said, I mentioned I was pregnant to one of my neighbors the other day (in the context of a conversation about deciding what to do about work), and she made a weird face about it when I told her how far along I was.  I suddenly felt so awkward for saying anything!

  • I'm still a little congested but otherwise feel a lot better than I have all week.  Despite this I have about 0 desire to be at work today because it's Friday and pretty outside and I'd rather be at home napping.

@MississippiCatfish were you on the July 14 BMB?  From your ticker it looks like your second is around the same age as my J14 baby!    I am already feeling a little embarrassed about starting to show because I see the looks people give moms who have multiple children.  I will likely end up throat punching someone who makes a "looks like you have your hands full!" comment when I'm out in public super pregnant with my two toddlers!

@TallMomma29 see, that weekly update thing is what I don't agree with. Sharing super exciting news is one thing. Being an AW every week is another. I would side eye that girl too.

ETA: your neighbor making you feel uncomfortable about saying something is what I think is totally acceptable and shouldn't be shamed! Rude of them!

@av2323 we're in the same boat. Everyone we see face to face knows, and most of my extended family as well. We haven't done a social media announcement but I'm thinking maybe Sunday (my birthday) we might!

ETA I'll be almost 10 weeks by that point so I feel fairly confident. Also, I'm increasingly worried someone is going to slip up on Facebook. Yesterday I liked the page of the ultrasound place we're using and my sister texted me saying "real discreet!"  Whoops.
  • @MississippiCatfish I love that you have a big family!  DH and I would love four or five and everyone else can stuff it!  So what if it's a little crazy/hectic?  It's the best kinda of crazy/hectic- crazy/hectic with love.  And they don't have to go home to it- you get to!  So you do you girl and rock that big family!  <3

  • @DuchessOfCambridge if it makes you feel better, I haven't washed my hair in about 2 weeks. Now, before I get the side eye judgement, I am half black and it's very common to not wash your hair super often. If I washed it daily, it would dry out and fall out.

However, my confession is I should have probably washed it a few days ago...but we are traveling and I don't have my flat iron to straighten it...so I said F it. FWIW, no one can tell and when I put oil on it, it looks fine. :)
  • @Tourmalily I might have laughed in my OB's face if she told me I had to give up bacon.  Not. Happening.

  • We told our family about a week after we found out. My granny was the one upsetting conversation.
    Me: guess what
    Her: what
    Me: we're having another baby
    Her: noooooo you can't
    Me: thanks granny
    Her: you get too sick
Me: I'll talk to you later. Bye

We have a 5 year old and a 1 year old. I had HG and high blood pressure both pregnancies. With my youngest, I also spent the last two months on strict bed rest. I also had 4 early miscarriages between my sons. That being said, if the reward is a happy, healthy baby, a rough pregnancy is worth it. I understand that what she said is coming from a place of concern but it still hurt my feelings.

  • @dragonfly87 agreed!

Although I will admit that pre-babies I thought I'd never show ANYONE a pee stick I peed on, and then after trying for awhile with #1 (didn't get a positive until the 13th try), I texted a picture of my first ever positive to my husband who was on a business trip, to my mom, and to my two BFFs without even thinking twice!  Cropped out the part I peed on though.  ;-)

  • My DD has been at school since 730 I tried to get up and get stuff done but I feel extra sick today so I laid on the couch and just got up to get her off the bus...
  • I realized halfway through eating my Shake Shack burger that it was a little pink. I was too far in/too hungry to ask them to fix it though ("You ate half of it and now you're upset it's pink?") so I ate the rest and I'm really sad about it!!! I thought Shake Shack made all their burgers no pink because it's a big chain and liabilities. I want to cry even though I know I'm probably fine and won't get sick. I'm sad. :(

  • @hezzer78 no flames here!
@DutchessOfCambridge don't be sad.  I'm sure it was fine!  Future reference (if able) nuking it for a couple of seconds will fix pink.  You could just tell them it's a little cold and could they zap it for 30 seconds.

  • I just got out of a mentoring lunch with my work mentor and a few other women. They're all career oriented and I am food oriented. This could probably go in randoms but I am too lazy to click over there.
I literally loled. I'm so glad I wasn't drinking something when I read this.

  • I'm bribing my 4 year old with a gas station hot dog to clean her room. Momma needs a chili cheese dog and the nearest sonic is over an hour away. A gas station hot dog will have to do, and her room will be clean.

S17 has a dramatic weight gain thread that carried over to FFFC. That's about all I've got so far lol
