Bringing Home Baby Outfits

Re: Bringing Home Baby Outfits

  • Thanks, @Louise_Belcher ! I may see if I can find something in a store, or we may have something already to use, or maybe we'll get something at the shower this weekend! The places I was looking to order from on etsy don't do returns, so if we got a NB and it didn't fit, we'd be stuck with it. Not horrible, but what am I going to do with something he can't even wear?

  • @BabyMC517 DD1 was 7lbs12oz and DD2 was 8lbs, they both wore newborn clothes for close to 6weeks! 0-3 was so wide on them but was a good transition between newborn and 3 month sizes

  • @BabyMC517 I'm right there with you. I can't stop agonizing over coming home outfits! Plus I want separates the first few days and it's impossible. Impossible!
  • @BabyMC517 - I don't know if it's a boy/girl thing but DS was 7lbs15oz at birth and never fit into the NB size. DD was 8lbs2oz and lost less weight at the hospital and still fit into NB clothes for the first 3-4 weeks. My recommendation would be to play it safe and go with the bigger size, especially if you can't return it.

  • @vrj0522 so they start the weird sizing early then, huh? Different sizes for different for each at certain weights, different brands fit differently, difference between boys and girls...crazy! No wonder there's body issues! I'm kidding...sort of  ;)

@jayandaplus I'm sure we'll figure it out! I'm just not going to wash all of the NB stuff we have until he's here in case he doesn't fit in them.

  • my DS was 8.4/21 inches and I squeezed him into a NB outfit coming home. Newborn footie pajamas seem so small but he wore newborn onesies for a couple weeks.

  • Regarding sizing, it depends on the brand. I just washed all 0-3 mos stuff yesterday then I sorted the short sleeved onesies into two piles: shorter and longer as pictured.

All the gerber stuff are tiny! I plan to bring one from the shorter pile and one from the longer pile.

  • @nda_roxybabe I wouldn't be too concerned if it slipped over there eyes (obvi their nose/mouth is a different story). DD headbands use to do this (slip over her eyes) and it actually blocked the sun and would keep her from screaming on sunny days  B) (we live in Florida its sunny 90% of the time). I would just be more concerned about the heat.

So crazy! Why must they make it harder to buy clothing?! I think we have mainly carter's stuff at the moment because we kept finding it on sale! I haven't even started washing things yet, but really want to! Just need to get it all in order...
