Sunday Rollcall

Re: Sunday Rollcall

  • Lol! Good thing you had a willing stroller model! I had errands and packing for a 4 day work trip (boo!), dh cleaned a bit. Now we're headed to my parents 45 mins away for dinner and visiting with family in town. A productive Sunday, first one in ages I had energy to get off the couch and no migraine. Enjoy it all!

  • Spent two hours with DS at an indoor playground this morning and then did some cleaning this afternoon while DH did errands. I want to loaf and watch Netflix once DS goes to bed

@Msashley2010 It's the best! I'm in the opposite situation, the closest one before I moved was over an hour and now I have 2 within 20-30 minutes. I got so much stuff today!

@jena333 I am dying at the cat in the stroller!

  • Okay, speaking of strollers, does anyone have any advice when it comes to figuring out what you want/need? I really like the Upababy Vista, but do you get what you pay for with the expensive strollers?

For what it's worth, since I'm a FTM and haven't actually USED it yet, my opinion only carries so much weight. This city mini is GORGEOUS. It's pretty light, folds in half with a quick pull, the entire cover comes off in case of mess. And it feels really solid. It was a gift, and I think it was about $250.
  • Here. I just took my gals to the pool this morning to wear them out. They are passed out. This is the first day I have not felt like I was going to yack at all in the morning. I will probably take it easy the rest of the day and just do some laundry. Have a good rest of the day everyone!
  • Sick with a cold and feeling full of self-pity :P Husband was working this morning, but when he got home he took the toddler out so I could sleep. Just got back from grocery shopping, going to put kiddo to bed, make lunch/pack for work tomorrow, then collapse.

And missykhamvongsa Cmar showed me this link, and I found the feedback really helpful. (edit) She explains her favorites - https://www.lucieslist.com/baby-registry-basics/baby-strollers/
  • I'm back. For good now.. until bed time at least. This is the busiest time of the year for me. I have a huge convention in Atlanta coming up for church and our church did some at home mission work today with a missionary who works with girls who are about to be sold into the sex slave trade. So I have been in and out of the bump. Now I'm just waiting for the walking dead to come on.
  • Hi all!  We went to check out a bigger house this afternoon.  It was a total bust. The owners smoked in the garage so the smell permeated to the main level. So gross. Looks like I'm keeping all my doll hairs for now, we want our next house to be forever or at least 20 years.

Unboxed the stroller my amazing friend bought us. It's beautiful. And then I had to try it out

I love this! And I'm jealous. My cat would scratch my eyeballs out.

I have the Vista and I really like it. But I live in a small town and walk everywhere. It is pretty pricey and big if you plan to be a casual stroller user. I also wouldn't want it if I lived in an apartment or anywhere with stairs because it is pretty bulky.

Part of why we bought it is because it converts to a double and we planned for more kids (these will be about 18 months apart). I just bought the conversion kit because my sister is coming to visit with her kids and we want to be able to use it while she is here.

It really depends on the stroller. We had a Bugaboo Bee with DD and I sold the thing as fast as I could. It was awkward and difficult. We replaced it with a Baby Jogger City Mini, which was about half the cost, and I loved everything about it. Easy to fold up and small which was nice.

I think going into a store and trying themy out is your best bet. See how they handle, fold up, basket space and the handle bar is it placed.at a good height or adjustable to where you need it.

  • So it might not be smart to let the pregnant lady go to Walmart by herself. My mental compromise for not picking up Culver's on the way home was to buy chocolate milk and Easter candy.
Off Topic but what is a Culvers? It's been in the news here recently that someone is trying to open one close to my house, but is facing some strong opposition from some community members in the area. I've never been to one or seen one so I'm not really sure what it is. Like a week after I saw this story in the news we received a mass mailing postal flier from what I assume are the people trying to open it, discussing why they want to open one and why they feel this is a good area for it.

  • @coolwhipz1 Culver's is similar to Dairy Queen, except custard! I think it's classier than Dairy Queen.

@coolwhipz1 I agree completely with @sugargirl1019 description of Culver's. They have yummy frozen custard.

Yes this!!! Aaand their burgers are amazing. I always get a butter burger when we go see my family in my hometown. I heart Culver's.

When I was in high school I was asked to dog sit for my dad's friend. Just go to their house and feed them and stuff. I said sure, I could use the like $20 they were offering. Ya know, teenage stuff. I went in the house one time and then my dad had to take over for me.. the guy and his wife both smoked in their house for YEARS. It was awful. The walls were permanently yellow when they used to be white. I can't even describe how awful it was. It destroyed the whole house, forever! Glad you passed but sorry it was a bust :(

Thats awful!  It totally does destroy a place, the smell just gets into everything and no amount of cleaning can get it out. My brother smokes in his house and I hate going to visit because the smell just  clings on you and your stuff.  This house was listed at half a million bucks and all I could think about was a 50K reno to rip out and replace all the stank walls. Hard pass.
