Feeling movement?

Re: Feeling movement?

  • @zetega Both midwife groups I've used (moved since DS was born) never mentioned anything about the anterior placenta being an issue.  It really doesn't have any affect on your pregnancy, other than feeling the baby kick, etc, and maybe if you need an amnio done.

DS was indeed born sunny side up (occiput posterior), and I had all back labor due to him being in that position.  It wasn't fun, and I'm hoping it doesn't happen this time around!  But, I was able to have an (unwillingly) unmedicated birth while he was OP, and everything turned out okay in the end.  The midwife present at DS' birth did say that being OP can make the labor more difficult.  After he was born, thankfully.  There are certain positions you can try to adjust the baby's position prior to birth.  I found out DS was OP at my appt the afternoon before I gave birth, but his head was too far in my pelvis for any of it to work.

  • @zetega It was briefly mentioned, but I was told it was a small percentage increase, and it wasn't a huge worry. I already had a ton f lower back pain in the beginning as my backwards-tilted uterus straightened out, so I'd like to avid terrible back labour if possible, but I suppose I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

@zetega i had an anterior placenta and still felt kicks by 17w. OB never said it was a problem but that i might not feel baby as much.

Interestingly enough, ds was born sunnyside up and I had never heard of that being related to AP though until you mentioned it. I wouldnt worry about it if i was told i had another AP this pregnancy since it caused me no issue

  • FTM  am16+5days from the ultrasound I had yesterday honestly I felt movements as early as 10weeks or so and two Sunday's ago too told my doctor he said its possible Bt since this is my first baby I would know for sure when the moves are stronger if they were just muscle twitching can't wait to officially feel the kicks
  • @DPandMB I think it takes a while to feel movement every day/more consistently. When I told doc I was feeling flutters, she mentioned that it's completely normal to only feel that every once in a while.

  • 16+1 FTM - I've felt... something ... when I'm really still & quiet, occasionally. It's like tapping, fluttering, bubbles I'm not sure how else to describe it. Like really light tapping I guess.

Usually on the right side and that's where she or he was on the last ultrasound mainly but I know they move around probably. Sometimes the left but not so much in the center/top/bottom of lower abdomen. I'm a bigger gal though so idk if that matters but looking at my stomach how it's shaped I think that would make sense (feeling the kicking if any, on the sides, it looks thinner there).

I'm really excited to feel the kicking when it's more pronounced. Now it's like "I *think* that was a kick?" but I can't be sure.

  • I had my 15 week appt today and the midwife asked if I was feeling movement yet. I was surprised because it still seems so early to me. I didnt feel my other children until 19-20 weeks. She said I should expect to feel some soon.
  • I had an appointment at 15 weeks too and my OB asked if I had felt anything yet, I told her I felt a definite somersault and then nothing and then I felt a wiggle but hadn't felt anything since and she said that sounds about right! I have been feeling some suuuuper light wiggles on and off, I'm 16+1 today. I felt a hard kick from DS around 17/18 weeks, it felt like popcorn popping.. it was amazing. I'm so excited to start consistently feeling this baby move. That's something that I have really missed since having DS!
  • I'm 17+1 and I still feel nothing lol. But baby's doing good in there!

It's so crazy that at 16/17 weeks baby is the size of an avocado/pomegranate and we still can't feel something that size moving around inside of our body lol!
FTM and 14 weeks today, waiting patiently for any little movement to feel the incredible first time feeling :)
  • @wyomama0427 YES! Lol I expect to feel him so much stronger than this I mean he's like almost 5 inches
  • Baby #3 here and I have felt flutters for awhile but this week I have felt actually movement! It is a lot sooner than my last 2 that's  for sure. It is mostly when I'm laying down but it is crazy and exciting. I had an ultrasound about 2 weeks ago and the tech kept laughing because this baby moved so much! I'm between 15 plus 4 and 16 plus 4 depending on what you go by.
  • The only thing I've been feeling is trapped gas

Eeeep! The first kick I felt with DS felt like popcorn pooping. It's the best!!
  • @mrsmarygs autocorrect hates me! The most embarrassing fail I've ever had was one time in high school when I was asking this really cute guy to catch me up on what happened in a current events class I missed, and it autocorrected Lybia to Labia. He was a good sport at the time but he never talked to me again lol
  • i still haven't felt anything :( at almost 17 weeks it's increased by anxiety a ton

I'm sorry you're feeling anxious :( I'm sure in the next few weeks you will feel your little one! I was worried with DS too, he was measuring ahead so we would have been around 18 weeks when I felt his first kick. Hugs, hope your anxiety calms down.
  • i still haven't felt anything :( at almost 17 weeks it's increased by anxiety a ton
im sure ull feel something real soon, and all that anxiety will go away !! :)
  • @harleyquinn0621 I am 17+3 and am not sure if I've felt anything or not. I've felt a few little taps a couple of times, but am not sure if they were the baby moving or something else. I understand how you feel! My friend is a STM and is pregnant right now. She is about a month ahead of me. She didn't feel this one move until 20 weeks, and STMs usually feel the baby sooner. We have no reason to worry, but I definitely have anxiety about it too!

  • @harleyquinn0621 I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. I totally understand. I've been very anxious this pregnancy. Stay strong. You'll feel movement soon. Hang in there.

  • Just wanted to chime in for those that haven't felt anything yet. With DS, I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel him until week 20. Consistent was more in the 21-22 range. This time (my placenta is still anterior) I haven't felt anything yet and I am 16+5. Easier said than done but try not to worry much at this point.
  • I also didn't feel any movement with DS until I was around 22w last time. And none so far with this baby at 17w.
  • thank you all ladies! honestly i've had anxiety this whole pregnancy and i doubt it'll go away until the baby is born... then i'll have a whole new set of anxiety lol
Everything will work out. My first didn't start flopping around until 18-19 weeks.
  • Last night I was sitting playing cards and I swear I felt little one. It felt like popcorn or bubbles popping.. 14+4 today. I've never felt anything like it before.

I just stopped everyone and was like: "Wait, something happened"

@MadisonInspires I did that through my whole first pregnancy lol! Every time DS got the hiccups I'd grab DH's hand and stick it on my belly so he could feel. Even if we were in public lol
  • thank you all ladies! honestly i've had anxiety this whole pregnancy and i doubt it'll go away until the baby is born... then i'll have a whole new set of anxiety lol
Absolutely. I know exactly where you are and that's why I wanted to add in.
  • @harleyquinn0621 I'm 17w today and I haven't felt anything yet. Especially for FTMs, it can be like 20w or so before feeling movement, or so I hear! Hang in there -- there's still plenty of time
  • @HarleyQuinn7161 I totally get your worrisome anxiety. I am the exact same way. I have super bad anxiety when I'm not pregnant so its just been completely amplified. Especially since I am not showing at all, and have like you felt nothing.

I know people have mixed feelings about having a baby doppler at home, but we got one to try and calm my anxiety and it arrived today actually. I haven't heard or seen the baby since my 12 week US and since my symptoms have all but disappeared I've been especially anxious the last week. Anyways, I opened it up right away and just finished using it. It took me about 3 minutes to find the heartbeat, but when I did all my anxiety immediately was gone. Having one isn't for everyone, but for me it really helped me know I am still pregnant, just taking time to see/feel things :)

  • STM and started feeling the baby a lot this week. I'll be 17 weeks on Friday. It's funny it took me a second to register like oh yeah, that's a baby kick. I felt two distinct kicks yesterday instead of flutters I initially felt with DS.
