Re: Appointments: week of 3/13
baby #4 due March '17!
Good luck with your induction @coconutkisses21!
I had my 39 week appointment this morning and we discussed our options with the OB since baby is measuring pretty big. (head is in the 92nd percentile and she was 8.8lbs at 38 weeks) She does not want me to go over 40weeks since the baby is already pretty big, but I couldn't make up my mind about how I wanted to proceed. I ended up making an appointment for next Tuesday (the day before my due date) and we will do another ultrasound then if I am still pregnant and decide whether to induce or schedule a c section. OB's recommendation is to try for a vaginal delivery and only do c section if we run into problems but I am really nervous about trying to deliver a potentially 10lb baby vaginally! This is our first so I have no idea what to expect but that sounds awfully painful!

Had an NST on Monday. 41w2d. Fluids were rock star and she was her normal wild woman self. Last thing they did was take my blood pressure.
It was 157!!! (My BP is always low) She got alll concerned started talking induction (first of all lol you're a nurse that does NSTs all day... induction is a big word to be throwing around when this is the first time you've met me) but still nerve wrecking. She got another nurse to come in and redo it. Turns out nurse 1 had the wrong size cuff on me. So when redone it was back to 120 lol.
Then at the end she said - "Well other than an old placenta you and your baby look great!
(Note they didn't even look at the placenta - she was just throwing that out there?!)
Had my two week PP check-up today. Just a chat. Asking how things are going - talking about depression awareness and homelife adjustments, breast feeding, etc.
She also checked to make sure I wasn't sexually active yet... ummm... no. !?! Who would want to even attempt that!?
@mecoats Good luck on Friday!! So excited for you to get to meet your LO so soon!
@vino831 An "old" placenta? Was she trying to be funny?! How bizarre
Edited to fix tag

Baby:
All went great. She is MUCH less jaundiced and has gained a pound and 3/4 of an inch in a week!
Mommy:
All in all the more nerve wracking appt. I made an appt to come in this morning after yesterday's bleeding scare. All in all the news was good: on the sonogram they could see the place where I had been bleeding from. In the words of the sonographer, there is still some "gunk" but not much, and she speculated that the majority of the clotting came out yesterday. (It was pretty crazy how you could see The blood flow into those areas which should have none.) The NP agreed; she didn't think I had retained any placenta, which is the usual reason for a late hemhorage. My uterus is the right size for two weeks pp, also making it less likely any after birth stuck around. She prescribed some cytotec suppositories to contract my uterus to get the rest of it out and "avoid any more drama." All in all it was the best outcome I could think of to hope for; confirmation that I am indeed not crazy and something is wonky, but it is most likely due to overexertion. I am under strict orders to not pick up my toddler and pretty much lay around all day. (How??????)

2wk appt for baby here!
I ended up being the patient. Ugh. Had the worst bought of vertigo while in the office, had to ask for a trash bag, and then after the 5th nurse came in to ask me if I was okay-I burst into tears. I know they were just trying to be helpful, but I hate when ppl ask "are you okay" when clearly I look upset.
Baby cried a lot less with her HepB shot (declined in hospital So got it today). And successfully gained 1lb 3oz, putting her at 11,6. Oh my head. Bye bye too soon size one diapers and 0-3mo clothes.
Im in the waiting room at my 38week appt now. Just had ultrasound. He has been measuring ahead but today she said 9lbs??!! Then we got a 3D look at him and the sonographer said "OMG he is SOO chubby!" I mean- he totally is he has chubby cheeks clearly but at least I am seeing my favorite rational doctor next because I am very curious what she will say!!
I had an appt this morning & my dr did an internal check. I'm at 2 cm & 50% effaced - I know those #s really don't mean anything when it comes to when I'll start labor but it made me hopeful that my body's started preparing. I wish they could do a growth check of the baby but apparently it's not really done at the practice I go to after a certain point...guess it'll be a surprise, but I'm imagining a chubby little boy here too!
@longliveregina don't you love when dr.s act like you live in some kind of magical universe where obstacles such as picking up a toddler suddenly resolve themselves because you need it to? like *poof* marry poppins will float in out of nowhere tomorrow and fix everything. i hope a solution does find you though and that you can take it easy and get the rest you need.
And thanks ladies! I clearly needed a good postpartum hormonal cry-hadnt had one yet. just wish it didn't pop up at that moment-but oh well! In the past!
