So yesterday a friend and I were supposed to go to the movies. She lives 1 hour away so we were going to meet at a theater 1/2 way between us. I told her to get the tickers for a time that works for her (after my dr appointment) since she has a baby, needed to get a babysitter and that she had her DH share 1 vehicle. I told her I'd pay her for my ticket or pay for snacks. All I had to do is show up since it was my day off lol.
Anyway, we were supposed to go to a 7 pm movie. She never got the tickets let alone made sure the movie wasn't already sold out. She told me this at 6 pm (as I was getting ready to leave). Since she had already paid the baby sitter we decided to get dinner instead and just catch up. I told her to pick a place. She mentioned a place and I said I would meet her there about 7:15.
That's when she said I live an hour away from you and that she was hoping I would pick her up. Why? Because her and her DH's car broke down about a month ago...
WTF?? When was she going to tell me this? Why did she agree to meet at a theater 1/2 way between where she and I live if she didn't have a car...... We ended up not getting together because it would have been about 8 or 8:15 depending on traffic by the time I got to her and she said her babysitter was only available until 9 pm....
Vent over....

@SaphireSweetie88 You always have the best ones! Not sure if that's a good thing, but it sure is entertaining for us! lol Your friend sounds super responsible...
My WTF is my friend's SIL who went to leave the hospital after having her baby and realized her and her husband both only have single bench trucks and they have no safe way of transporting their baby. How do you go 9 months and never once think, how will I drive my baby around?! Although this is the same girl who let the doctor do a vertical c-section instead of a regular incision because her "baby was too big". She had an 8 lb baby...
My WTF goes to my friend judging me about caffeine. I have a toddler, I have absolutely no appetite and no energy like the second trimester is supposed to give you- I get a large latte from Dunkin Donuts every single day and she knows this yet she sends me this.
@nktrodden826, I don't have a toddler and I have a cup of coffee every day. I'm having one right now. #solidarity
Wtf DH? Why did you make me book the morning flight to Honolulu when there is an additional nonstop in the afternoon. It's 422 am and a mess trying to get out the door. By mess I mean I'm laying on the couch bumping (and drinking coffee) while I should be putting on pants.
Theres 2+ feet of snow outside. Theres a state of emergency in my borough until tomorrow morning, and a travel ban of all motor vehicles to go along with that. Most of the towns around here have pretty much the same thing going on. And all anyone cares about it if they can get to work or not? WTF. Is the government in charge or are the companies? My husband has work and once again has no choice but to walk a mile both ways through two feet of snow, some of which has turned into a sheet of ice, because idgaf.
Btw, ITS STILL SNOWING. Wtaf people wtaf.

Woke up this morning to the kitchen floor flooded. W T F. Turns out, I had left the faucet dripping because it got so cold last night. The kitchen sink backed up and ran over. We think maybe a drain pipe froze. I'm hoping that's all it was. WTF sink? Y u haffa do dis NOW??
@Itsnotyourturn I would feel bad for you, buttttt you are going to Hawaii. Have fun, lady!
I don't know if this is really a WTF, but is it me or did we go from discussing a "dead board" with a lot of MIA people to having an influx of a million new people in the span of like ten hours? There are so many usernames I don't recognize. If you are new or just lurked but didn't participate, hi and welcome! Also, please don't be crazy! (We've had a lot of that recently.)
Wtf - we paid $350 to have our dishwasher fixed two weeks ago, and it's still not working. And we are hosting friends this weekend with two additional toddler boys running around (which I am sooo excited for! But man, this scenario screams for a dishwasher.) Ugh.
WTF doctor's offices. My endocrinologist makes me pay $150 for a needle stick and 5mins talking to him. Damn thyroid issues and shitty overly expensive health insurance costing me a small fortune!!
ETA to add...and I have to see him every six weeks right now.
My WTF Wednesday goes out to myself for not finding a non-family memeber that I like and trust to babysit yet?!?!?! My son is a toddler and has only been watched 3 times so we could go to dinner, and a hand full of times(maybe 6) so I could get an appointment of some sorts in.
Also, my DH thinks paying $10-15 dollars an hour for a sitter is 'insane and ridiculous' .....but it's not. That is the going rate here(small town USA even!) I made way more than that an hour as a nanny all day everyday while in college!!! It's insulting to me that he thinks $10 an hour is insane! I was in the child care practice forever. It's hard. And if you want a responsible and trustworthy person you need to pay them for their time! This child is my LIFE and worth a lot more than that even. Ugh. I mean, so basically I'm about to be a SAHM of an infant and a 21/22 month old and my DH thinks 5$ an hour is good money for a sitter?!?! WTF?! Sadly, we could afford it easily so we could get away once a month, or you know, I could go tot he freaking dentist without canceling 5 times to find another time. ***insert throat punch here for him*** He's just being ignorant because he knows nothing of how hard it is to care for children that are not your own.
We are going to have to sit to sit down and have a discussion of first of all, who do I trust?! Second of all, he needs to come to terms with the fact that I need help every once and a while!!!
WTF doctor's offices. My endocrinologist makes me pay $150 for a needle stick and 5mins talking to him. Damn thyroid issues and shitty overly expensive health insurance costing me a small fortune!!

@PurplePoppy424 I am sorry!! I am firmly in the mind set of if you have to see a doctor that frequently, there sound be some sort of discount for loyalty?!
@DarkSerendipity that succccckkkksss... is there a lot of water damage?
Thankfully, no water damage! It was just a thin pool across the kitchen floor. We got it cleaned up with a bunch of towels. We're just waiting to see if a drain pipe was blocked by being frozen.
WTF to my coworker that had a small fit because our boss suggested we go to this food event here in town on Friday for lunch instead of crawfish like she wanted. She got mad and said she would go on her own to eat crawfish instead because that's what she wanted and was pouting. It was a suggestion and my boss likes to throw wrenches in plans to see how people react for her own amusement. It's frustrating. We decided to stick to the original plan and eat crawfish and coworker called us all "flaky ass people."
@PurplePoppy424 I just got billed for my first endocrinologist appointment and he charged $720 I don't even think that includes the blood work - that was just for the office visit. I couldn't believe it! DH and I have already hit our deductible for the year. We've never even come close to hitting it before.
Me: 31 DH: 31 DS born 6/2017, became a heart angel 8/2018 CP 3/2019
@LoveLee85@SpongeWorthy it's flat out highway robbery. Every time I go I get pissed about that bill. I could understand if it was more than a needle stick and a short convo, but I am always able to go there, have the appt and get back to the office within my hour lunch break. Their office is 15mins away from mine. I'm not kidding when I say I'm in there less than 30mins total. It's so frustrating. My deductible is already met and we're only in March.
So sorry to you ladies dealing with medical bills. It is absolutely ridiculous. We're so lucky my husband has such awesome benefits.
But when I was a poor graduate student I went to the ER for an abcess that the doctor literally peeked at, prescribed antibiotics, and sent me on my way. I was billed 5600$!!!! I didn't have insurance at the time and had no money so I was literally back and forth with a sort of charity program the hospital had going and I was able to get it down. Ridiculous!!

@LoveLee85 Babysitting is expensive here too! It's really hard trusting other people sometimes but I guess I'm lucky that the military has kind of forced me to trust others with DD since we have no family here. Im grateful to have a good network of fellow mom friends and we trade off with each other for things like dentist appointments. We also have another couple that we trade with for date nights once a month- saves serious money since it'd be 60-75 bucks for a sitter to go to dinner and a movie!
@OperaSingerMommy the trading with friends once a month sounds amazing! Never thought of that...but we are in that awkward 'most our friends don't want/don't have kids yet!' time. My parents are young enough that they still work. So, I do get some help on days off but I don't want or expect them to watch my baby(s) in all their free time. LOL
I need to start thinking who I can trade with!? I do know people with kids, a little older kids, but everyone needs a kid free night!!!! HAHA Thank you for the idea.
@OperaSingerMommy Since you're military you should be eligible for a free SitterCity membership.
Yes, I am, thank you!! We have some great sitters here, I just try to use friends whenever possible since the going rate here is $15-25 an hour (!!!!!). Like @LoveLee85 said, it's worth paying for a responsible person to hang with our kids but one date night can break the bank!

I hear you. We started going to movies separately during nap time or after bed and then comparing notes afterwards. It's not worth the sitter $$$ to go to the movies anymore. We save that for more interactive dates.

WTF to a bill I got for a pediatric ENT "consult". In July. For a doctor that stopped into to our multi-doctor consult for DD and suggested she get a sleep study. The sleep study in which we were billed $1000 for and never got a follow up call with the results even after multiple tries of me calling them...so this is an additional bill. For what, I'm not sure. I don't even know how I can fight the bill since calling the office it was billed from wasn't the office we were in (we were at the hospital).
I don't have the energy to fucking fight this bullshit but if I don't pay it, it eventually is on your credit report right?

@dancegurl1118 - I am sorry to hear you got a bill for that. I would call and fight it by saying that you weren't at that office and that you were already billed for this from the hospital and see what they say. Ask for a break down of what they are charging you for and why. Ask why it has taken this long for them to send a bill.
Yes if you don't pay it they send it to collections and then when it's in collections, it is on your credit report. They will usually send you the bill 2 or 3 times before collections gets involved.

My WTF goes to my colleague, who I'm actually very good friends with outside of work. We sell candy at the reception desk at my office, and I grabbed a package of sweet-tarts and looked at the wrapper (was trying to figure out if they were the good ones my other friend loves). Anyway, my colleague SNATCHES them out of my hand and makes a big dramatic scene saying "No way! That's terrible for you"...I snatched them right back and told her the baby loves high-fructose corn syrup and dances around every time I eat it!
I didn't end up buying them, but now I wish i did just out of spite. Don't ever tell a pregnant woman what to eat.
A bit of background: I love her, but she constantly gets fed conspiracy theories from her weirdo boyfriend. Everything has to be 'organic gmo free,' the government is apparently tracking him via phone data, and they don't trust vaccines because 'big pharma'. I shoot down these dumb theories whenever I have the chance, but it's something new every couple weeks.
Mine is that all week, a friend of mine from out of town had planned to come over and visit me tonight (a very big deal to someone on bed rest that hasn't seen a lot of people now for the past 12 weeks or so). I got ready, and the time rolled around when she was supposed to come, and I sat there for half an hour waiting, before she finally texted to say that she "overbooked" herself and maybe it would be better if she came to see me next time. I was really looking forward to seeing her, and feeling very lonely tonight, so this triggered a little emotional pregnant crying episode. I'm better now, but yea, I was pretty hurt there for a minute or two.
@CTRMommyof4 ugh that sucks! When someone flakes on me I hold a grudge for a long time. I think it shows disrespect for you and your time. I'm so sorry, that must've been so disappointing.
