  • @kns1988 That's understandable. I'm sure you're going through a mourning process for the last house that you both wanted so much. It sounds like you found another good one, though! I hope your offer is accepted and that everything looks better this time around.
  • @kns1988 good luck!! Hope this one goes more smoothly!
  • Catching up from the weekend. For those of you having a hard weekend, dealing with a family friend loss, and preterm labor I'm sending lots of creepy internet hugs.
I see a lot of us are in the process of moving/house hunting. DH wants to start the process now in fear of escalating interest rates.... I want to wait until baby comes. We have to sell this house too so I'm just too afraid of unnecessary stress and the possibility of Alexander arriving too early. But moving and doing alllllll the house stuff with a newborn doesn't sound fun either.. yikes.

  • I'm planning to go on vacation with my sister mid April. I'm due end of May, so I'll still have about 5 weeks. Our trip is 3 hours away (by car). Anyone else traveling 8 months pregnant? Have you? Am I crazy?? (Trying not to freak out!)

I was told not to go more than 2 hours away at 32 weeks and only 1 hour away at 35 weeks. I would just check with your doctor (and insurance!) if they are cool with it, then don't freak out!
  • jayandaplus, my doctor told me my cutoff for long car trips was 35 weeks, even though I expect every doctor says something different. It sounds like you'll be in that range, which is good. I was considering a 3 hour car ride at the beginning of April, and they told me to drink a lot of water and make frequent stops to make sure I didn't get blood clots.

It's probably not the most advised, but I traveled 800 miles by plane at 35 weeks with my first (with a return trip at 36 weeks).  It was Christmas!  My midwife was fine with it and gave me a letter if the airline gave me any grief.

I have a work related trip the first weekend in May. I'm due 5/19 and I'll be 38 weeks. It's just over a 3 hour drive. I discussed it with my doc. She will check me that week and we'll make a game time decision.  The resort flagged my reservation and will allow me to cancel without penalty.  I'm nervous bc I had DS at 38w 2d.

I just came back from what should be my last very long road trip, 400 miles one way. I had a precipitous labor with DD on her due date so I won't be traveling more than 1 hour away once I'm full term. This is self-imposed, but I would expect my OB to concur with something similar.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

I was cleared for a trip 1000 miles away at 36w via plane. Turned out to be too expensive overall so I'm not going but both my midwife and doctor were fine with it. They just suggest getting up often to stretch legs to avoid clots.
  • @jayandaplus - I traveled 3 hrs away at 36 weeks with DS and 5 hrs away at 35 weeks with DD. Everything was fine but I swelled quite a bit the first time so lots of water and at least one walking break should help. And avoid the car the rest of the day as much as you can. Unless you have early labor signs, I see no problem with the distance but make sure that your insurance would still cover you if you are going across state lines.

  • Thanks everyone!
  • @jayandaplus last pregnancy I went 12 plus hours from NY to NC at 33 weeks. Very uncomfortable but otherwise fine
  • @jayandaplus My OB says no planes after 30 weeks and no long car trips after 35ish... however, I know that even though i'm currently 33 weeks anything much over an hour away is too much for me right now. I think you have to listen to OB/Midwife, but you also have to make the decision based on how you feel.

  • Thanks @RainyDays86 ! It was a long day...I felt bad that I couldn't really do anything and I was so tired. I wish we could have moved our stuff too, but we can't move into the apartment we found until March 24th. Oh well, what can ya do?!
