@SJsMommy So sorry to hear about preterm labor. Thinking of you and your babies, praying they can cook a little longer. DH's cousin (preg w/ twins like us) had her water break at 29 weeks and babies stayed in until 30w5d, and they're doing well now. Hugs to you, fellow MoM.
Sometimes I just feel like a horrible person. I jokingly asked my H if he knew of any instant pot roast recipes (cause I really just wanted to eat some potatoes and carrots), and he starts looking up recipes. I told him I didn't actually want to get into a big cooking thing tonight. So now he's in the kitchen cooking dinner himself, and I'm sitting on the couch angry about it cause I just wanted to microwave potatoes or something so I could eat like 20 minutes ago but now I have to wait probably 2 hours so I'm not the ass that eats something else while he's preparing dinner. I'm just so hungry.
@SJsMommy: Sorry to hear that! I'm sending you tons of good vibes and wish you all the best of luck in keeping them as your inside babies for as long as possible. Take care of yourself
@starphish18: been there, sister. My hubbs spent a long time and made this huge pot of soup (without really following a recipe, and you know how things sometimes turn out when you're just tossing things together with no plan...) and all I wanted the whole time waiting was a bowl of cereal. Later I took a few bites and he must've seen a look on my face b/c he deflated a bit and said "what else can I get you?" And like you, I felt like I was granted the Worst Person Ever award.
@SKZW Ugh, yes. They're clearly trying to be helpful and supportive, but it wasn't what I wanted. I just wanted food in my mouth asap, not a lovely time-consuming dinner. And good lord, he just started biscuits.
@SJsMommy please take it very easy -- all my thoughts with you and those hopefully patient babies!
Today we had our hospital/maternity ward tour and it made this whole "having a baby" thing feel very real! There was also an "older sibling" class going on and several times we ran into the big group of toddlers being led around the hospital carrying identical baby dolls, being followed by waddling pregnant moms. It was very very cute.
Tonight I have an overnight bachelorette party--I don't expect it to be an especially raucous one but I'm sure I'll be wistful at all of the champagne drinking. I just magically remembered that I go to bed at like 8-9 and wake up at 5 am these days so I'm a moron for thinking it makes ANY sense for me to stay overnight. So I'll probably come back home tonight and just head back in the morning to help prep breakfast (since I won't/can't be in a drunk puddle singing sea shanties or whatever I volunteered for extra prep work). This same group (the bride, the party's host, and another fellow guest) are co-hosting my baby shower next week so it's nice to help out and give back!
@SJsMommy Thinking and praying for you and the babies!
I went shopping this morning at a consignment event and got a ton of maternity and baby clothes for under $50. I also got some nursing bras and tanks on clearance at Target. Now, I plan on sitting in the living room for the rest of the night. Tomorrow I have a baby shower to go to.
@cato99 The hospital tour made it real for me, too! And today I've been reading previous months' baby announcements. I can't believe we're getting so close!
@WombThereItIs Yayyy for moving, but boo for crappy timing! I've done a PCS 1000 miles with a 2.5yr old and 6wk old! And I know @bacorrea is about to move as well, so solidarity my friend! I forget, do you already know where your going?

I was supposed to work this weekend (last night and tonight) but on my way out the door last night I got a call that a very close family friend was in a car accident with his kids about an hour and a half away. We instantly got in the car to drive over there just in time to hear that he passed away. The kids, crazily, are virtually scratch free. It's been a very emotional, crazy, surreal 24 hours. A lot of emotions on a normal day, but the pregnancy hormones are just amplifying everything. It has really just brought to light how fast things change. Squeezing my hubby and DD extra hard today.
@MrsFreeman2010: I'm so sorry to hear about your family friend, and for those kids to lose their dad. It's so unfair, and hard, and horrible. I wish you peace tonight. Be well.
@MrsFreeman2010 so sorry to hear that. I have had several recent reminders of how fragile life is. Prayers for comfort and strength for your friends family and for you and your family, too.
Thank you everyone for all the support! No babies yet. They stopped the magnesium earlier this morning. No regular contractions yet which is good news.. both doses of steroids are in just in case. Hoping the girls are happy hanging out for a while yet!
We're putting in another offer on a house and I adore it, but DH is not as in love. He really loved the first one that we had to cancel the contract on. It's a little deflating because I want us to be on the same page, but he's more practical and says buying a house isn't about whether he loves it or not. It's got so much beautiful character and it's the kind of house I always pictured myself in, so I should just be happy...
