Re: TTCAL Weekly Check In - Week of March 13th
Me: 33, DH: 32. I just had my first M/C at 11 weeks. I don't have any issues that I know of. I think it was just a horrible fluke.
How are things going?
Much better. I have my follow-up with the OBGYN this week. We want to start trying again right away.
Any testing coming up?
Nope.
Any recent results?
Nope.
How is your partner dealing?
He's OK now. He was sad and disappointed just like I was. Also he was worried about me.

How are things going? Crappy, my birthday is next week so the cp is basically like an f---ed early birthday present. I know that 29 is not that old, but all I can think is if I can't stay KU at 28 how is turning another year older going to help? The cp is definitely hitting me harder than the m/c. With the m/c we had a crying and our grieving, but after that it was like okay we can try again, better luck next time, and all that shit. This time there's less crying and grieving, but a lot more thinking okay I'm now 0 for 2, can I really handle going 0 for 3.
Any testing coming up? Nope, NP doesn't believe me that I got a BFP with the cp so no tests ordered.
Any recent results? Nope
How is your partner dealing? He's trying so hard to be supportive, and I just really want to smack him. Him being supportive is him asking how I'm doing a lot of times. He seemed kind of confused that I was so upset (he didn't let himself get excited about the cp), but I explained my concerns about being able to stay KU and he seems to understand more now.

All the doctors and midwives that I dealt with were great except for the male doctor at the ER when I went to get my RhoGAM shot. He came into the room and asked me "so what's been going on?" I think my jaw dropped open and I just stared at him so he repeated the question. I wanted to say "Are you fucking kidding me? Read the chart in front of your face where it says that I had a missed M/C! Are you really going to make me say it??" Jeez...

@KariAnn323 that NP can suck it! I'm so sorry you had to deal with a healthcare professional that was just rude.
Introduce yourself and anything you think is important (age, number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es) , diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.) We are both 30 and had an early miscarriage in February.
How are things going? OK. I'm a little nervous to test. I'm past the emotional I was pregnant point and it's not fair but I'm sure if family asks when we will be pregnant I might loose it. (They don't know we are trying nor the miscarriage)
Any testing coming up? HPT tomorrow.
Any recent results? Still waiting for the damn SA result. I missed the call from my doctor last week and have been patiently waiting since he said he would call me back.
How is your partner dealing? I think he's keeping himself zen af and not trying to get excited about anything.
I am 29 and DH is 31. We had a loss in December that was a CP. No known diagnosis, just suspected thin uterine lining. Had very short, spotty (1.5 day AFs during CP cycle and the following two cycles). Last cycle, I had a 2.5 day AF...so hoping that is going back to normal (which is 4-5 days for me).
How are things going?
I have been able to stay surprisingly calm this cycle and TWW. It's cycle 6, 4 TTCAL for us. AF is due on Friday. Mentally, not posting in the TWW thread daily has been very good for me. It's helped me not obsess. Of course, I have been a lurker, but haven't been as participatory.
Any testing coming up?
I am 11 DPO, and can't bring myself to test. Reality is, other than some pelvic twinges, I have no symptoms, so little optimism. Might get up the courage to test at 13 or 14DPO, but not sure.
Any recent results?
Nada.
How is your partner dealing?
I think he is fine. I haven't actually brought up TTC in a while. I don't even tell him when the FW is because it creates stress for him and he has performance issues. However, we were in the store yesterday and there were little kid carts and he said, "Isn't that cute?" and smiled at me. It was a bit emotional because I know he loves kids (he works with them for a living) and will be a great father...I am just heartbroken I can't give that to him right now.
KariAnn323 I am sorry you had to deal with a bad NP. I agree with writing a letter. Customer service is key in the health care field and she shouldn't treat you or any other patient that way.
Starla Did they do testing and that's what your follow up is for? Hugs again and hope the follow up goes well.
@mispanda See I don't know what people mean when they say next cycle. Do they mean the first O after the M/C bleeding or are they counting the next full cycle (another AF after the M/C)?

How are things going? I'm feeling really depressed the last couple days. I'm wondering how much is just hormones changing, but I also am feeling a bit disconnected from DH lately, and my parents are visiting. They don't know about this second loss, so to them everything is just fine and I feel like I'm just playing this big charade all the time. I love them, but I'll be really happy to just have time to ourselves when they leave.
Any testing coming up? I have an appointment set up April 10th to go over testing options. We sent in tissue for testing last week, but will be a bit until we get results back.
Any recent results? nope
How is your partner dealing? We've been a bit disconnected with having my family visiting. And he's got a cold, so even when we have a few minutes to ourselves to talk, he's just trying to sleep it off.

@KariAnn323 I'm still so sorry to see you back here. Don't beat yourself up about being a year older. You still have plenty of time, and always remember that most people will go in to have completely normal pregnancies even after a few losses. Hang in there.
@mispanda, I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. I know now how hard it is to test after a loss.
@dragonfly87, I'm also thinking about taking a step back from many things TTC when we jump back in next cycle. Part of that is DH's worry that I'm stressing out to much about all this. In some ways he's right, but it's so difficult to me since it's something I want so badly. Plus, all you girls rock, and I'd never be able to cut it off completely. Maybe I'll just try not temping for a cycle or two.

We're both 29. We've had one loss. I have PCOS and was on my second cycle of fertility treatments when we conceived (injectables + trigger + progesterone). No reason given for the early MC besides "bad luck".
How are things going?
I'm feeling impatient to start TTC again. Also feeling angry and tired.
Any testing coming up?
They're monitoring my HCG levels until they're back under 5. Then I can start fertility treatment again. Since I don't O or get my period on my own usually, it looks like I can start trying again as soon as my HCG level has dropped.
Any recent results?
No.
How is your partner dealing?
He wants to move forward and forget about this.
@starla Best of luck to get the go ahead to start TTC again right away. I'm at a fertility clinic, and their protocol is to have the MC, then wait for another period, and then start trying. But really, they just want your HCG levels down to below 5 before they'll prescribe fertility meds.

@KariAnn323 next time you get a BFP, I'd tell them you're coming in. I didn't mention it when you originally mentioned it but when I got my BFP, I had already been bleeding. The nurse I talked to on the phone said there was nothing they could do. Luckily my bff insisted I call back and tell them I was coming in for tests. Otherwise they would never have seen my up & down hcg to indicate ectopic. Sometimes I think they get so desensitized and sadly. you have to stick up for yourself
@mispanda FX for you!
@dragonfly87 sometimes taking a break helps
@icecubeinthedesert it has to be so hard having your family there
@madspunk I feel the same way
Introduce yourself and anything you think is important (age, number of loss(es), when you had the loss(es) , diagnosis / conditions surrounding loss, etc.) I'm 36 & DH is 38. Currently going through an ectopic
How are things going? After 48 days the bleeding has finally stopped! I'm still getting twinges though which freaks me out ((esp since I'm traveling out of the country on Friday) but my OB says its normal. I think the constant paranoia of still being able to rupture may be the worst part of this.
Any testing coming up? hcg test on Wednesday
Any recent results? My levels went from 547 to 235 a week later, last Wednesday. It would be great if I had that big of drop this week too
How is your partner dealing? I don't think he really thinks about. He tried to start something and I was like dude, I've been bleeding for 45, I have random twinges of pain--having sex with you is not something I'm wanting right now
ETA: It's great to hear the bleeding has stopped and hopefully you will be fully recovered with low hcg levels soon. Sorry your DH said that, sometimes I don't think men really think about it or affected the same way.
She is acting so impatient about having a grandchild, but doesn't realize that 1) we too are impatient about having a baby and 2) her asking is just a constant reminder that I haven't got KTFU again.
End rant.
@dragonfly17 That sucks that your mom is being insensitive. Have you thought about sharing at least some of your feelings? You don't even have to tell her that you're TTC, but maybe just mention that it upsets you when she asks about grandkids and that you'll tell her when your'e pregnant again.
Guys, I'm having a great day so far. I got a snow day (woohooo!!!) AND I called around to see if I could get an U/S due to any cancellations today. After calling 2 or 3, I found out that had an appointment this afternoon! I'm so happy that I don't have to wait until the 22nd and I will have my results before my follow-up with the OBGYN this Thursday, which is ideal. Now, let's just hope that everything looks good on the ultrasound! I never thought I'd be so excited about a post-M/C ultrasound.

@icecubeinthedesert *Hugs* I'm sorry your parents are there and making things awkward. FX once they leave you'll feel more connected to YH. Like I said, I know 29 isn't that old. I think the bigger part of it is when we started trying in September we just assumed that I wouldn't be able to drink for my birthday because I would be KU by then. We're also helping run a convention the weekend of my birthday and so we thought about how exciting it would be see to celebrate this with all of our friends who we only see once a year. I think it's that I'm not KU and we're on cycle 7 at a time where when we started trying it was inconceivable that I wouldn't be KU.
@madspunk *Hugs* FX your numbers go down quickly
@purplg8r I did tell them I was coming in. It seriously took 15 minutes to explain what was going on to the receptionist because apparently "Hello my name is _________. @Starla Glad to hear your ultrasound went well even though the tech was completely oblivious to your situation.
I had bloodwork today and my HCG level has dropped to 7! I'm so glad this is at least going quickly. Hopefully we can start trying again soon.
@Starla - Omg the things that come out of some of these tech's mouths is insane. With the pregnancy that got to 20 weeks, we were going in for 30 min u/s every single week. At first, we thought we were being overly-sensitive. We finally asked our MFM after everything was over, and she was appalled. Things like "have you named your baby yet?" I get that some people name the children they lose as part of their memory. But that should be something you let the pregnant woman bring up, not something you ask to try and break the silence and chit chat during an u/s.

How are things going? Much better right now. I took 5 days off of TB because I was not in a good place when my period arrived earlier than expected (I'm not tempting, but I am doing OPKs and it came approximately 4 or 5 days early). I think those U/S techs are just young girls (most of them have been in their early 20s) that have never gone through a pregnancy, let alone a loss. The doctors, NPs, etc. should know better. Not that I'm excusing the techs... they're just awkward girls barely out of their teens. Sensitivity around TTC and loss should be taught to anyone in the medical field.

I'm 33, Dh is 30. We started trying this year, and I got my first BFP at 12 dpo, but then started spotting the next day, was sent to the ER on 14 dpo because I had pinching on the left side, so they feared it might be ectopic. They didn't find anything on the u/s and I had no pain, so just had a blood draw as follow-up on 16dpo, which confirmed it was a CP. Sorry for the novel, still learning how to talk about this.
How are things going?
Ok now. The ER visit was really stressful, I was there for 5 or 6 hours with new techs and Drs being introduced all the time, but no one telling me what was going on or what my results were. By the end, I couldn't stop crying even though at that point for all I knew I could still go on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy. Some more crying as I got results over the next days and when AF arrived. But I was never actually far enough along for me to 'feel' pregnant. That might help me cope, I don't know.
Any testing coming up?
Just a (hopefully final) beta-level testing next week to see if they're back to 0. The OBGYN wants us to wait until they are to try again.
Any recent results?
Got some (I think general) blood work result back from my ER visit, with some levels of things being marked as low, but no explanation of what it means...
How is your partner dealing?
He's doing ok. I think he also never really felt that we were pregnant, and the biggest thing for him was to see me so sad. But he's been very supportive, took time off from work/worked from home to be with me.
