elisam511 I hope your retrieval went well!

@Hopeful_mom Yay, glad to hear your cyst went away, and best of luck this cycle!

@Monica54321 So sorry about the negative beta. Glad you can do an FET soon though, good luck!!!

@Esperer FX and hoping you get your BFP this Friday!!

BecauseLove Welcome! I wrote down every question DH & I could think of for the IVF consult, and felt so much better about it all after talking to the Dr. and getting some answers. I hope your consult goes well!

So my numbers have decreased pretty quickly, I went from 8 fertilized to 7 growing to yesterday (day 5) having just one blastocyst and two slower growing morulas. However the RE said the one blast was a perfect grade A embryo (does anyone know how much the grade really matters though?), and we were able to transfer that one yesterday. The other two may still make it, so they are giving them some more time and should call me tomorrow with an update. My emotions are kinda up and down at the moment, I feel hopeful and excited that this may work, but also anxious and kinda depressed thinking about the extreme disappointment if it doesn't (I try my best to ward off those thoughts but they still find a way to creep in!). It would be great if the two slower ones make it to freeze so I don't feel so much pressure on this one. However I am very thankful at least one did make it to transfer and praying that this one will stick. This wait is going to suck guys :P

  • Hi all,

Sorry I've been missing in action, stupid phone broke and life has been very busy!
It's lovely to see some promising news and sad to see some more challenges. Welcome to the new faces :)

As for me, we are transferring the first FET on Wednesday. In my head I'm kind of treating this like a trial run. We didn't think we would be able to transfer this cycle so it's kind of like a bonus.
Started suppositories this morning, that's a whole new weird thing to add to my daily routine!

I've downloaded an app to remind myself to take all the drugs! Especially the lunchtime drugs!  I optimistically thought I might be talking less drugs now the stims are over, but at least they are not injections!

Wishing you all a happy relaxing weekend :)
  • I got great news Friday that my two other embies made it to freeze! That was such a relief to hear.

@Hopeful_mom Thank you for all the good vibes and positivity, I really appreciate it :)

@Nellin Best of luck Wednesday!!! Yeah the suppositories are no fun, but glad to be done with the injections. What's the name of the app you're using? I have to do one mid-day too, and so far have been good about remembering but am a bit worried I may eventually forget. A reminder would be nice!

  • Hey guys!

I just came back from my first ultrasound since starting meds. This is my second cycle (as the first one failed).

My new doctor said he wants to be aggressive this time around, since I only produced 10 viable eggs the first cycle. He said that a girl my age (27) should be closer to 20!

He wasn't the doctor I saw today at ultrasound (they rotate) but apparently, they said I'm only forming what looks like 13 total eggs :(

I know everyone says quality over quantity..but Im still so concerned. If they are basically doubling my meds since my last cycle, why am I only stimulating 13 follicles? Im hoping they are better quality this time around, but my chances would be so much more improved with more eggs...anyone try something different to stim more eggs? I want to know for next time...since i am already priming myself to receive bad news again this cycle.

  • @meli123k that is great news congrats!! Hope they will thaw properly and be ur sticky beans!! Will you be trying next cycle or take a month off?

@nellin best of luck on wed hoping everything goes smoothly and u get ur miracle!!

@mous I'm sorry ur not responding the way you would've hoped BUT double digits is really great!! I have low AMH and they told me I would get 10 and I only got 4/5 my first cycle. Second cycle more aggressive meds and I responded worse.  Only really 1 that stuck around in the end.  I think my body needed a cycle off which now I'm taking.  Of course I'm hoping with time off my body will respond better but who knows.  Some think less meds r better and others think more meds are better.  It's not easy BUT 13 is amazing hoping they all mature together nicely for u. Good luck

@monica54321 I'm with you girl!! This process is so confusing and I never know when to jump ship. I don't I always stick around and wait the month out.  I guess I'm different cause my ivf was converted to iui so I'm just waiting to see what happens. How I would love to not have to go on to another ivf cycle ;)

i also thought there were a few left in the 2ww

  • @hopeful_mom @monica54321 My beta is Tues so I was waiting til then to figure out where to move, but it seems like most have already moved on to oct/nov. I agree it is a bit confusing!

@mous Good luck this cycle! I also felt worried when it seemed only 8 or so of my follicles were responding. In the end they got 13 eggs, and I ended up with 3 embryos, so I think 13 follies still gives you a good chance!

    **tw**
I broke down and POAS a little bit ago. It showed + which I have never ever seen before so I still can't quite believe it. I know its early and lots could still go wrong, so I'm feeling excited but still unsure this could really be it. Could the hcg shot they gave me at egg retrieval (2 weeks ago) still be in my system?

We had our first fresh round of IVF in April of this year, which ended in a chemical. We had 8 embies left, and did our first FET in October. My first BETA came back at 20, and my second BETA was 94! I am still holding out some hope that those numbers keep rising and my little one keeps on sticking!

Congrats to you all of your who are expecting, and positive thoughts, prayers and baby dust to those of you who are just beginning, or still waiting for you BFP! <3

Me: 35 DOR, low AMH = 0.694, and fibroids

    Married 10/25/2014 / TTC since 05/2015
    1st IUI 05/05/16 Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
    2nd cycle on Letrozole 7.5 mg CD 3-11 + TI = BFN
3rd cycle on Letrozole but did our 2nd IUI on 07/01/16. 10 mg CD 3-11 + Ovidrel = BFN
Onto IVF! Started Lupron on 09/24. Added Gonal F and hcg injections 09/26...... Trigger 10/07. EggRetrieval 10/09. Starting PIO, Estrace, and Medrol 10/10/16. Transferred 2 "strong/beautiful" embryos 10/14/16. Beta 10/28/16 = 998 mIU/mL = BFP with one baby, but miscarried at 9w5d.
D&C on 12/06/17 and started taking BCPs 01/10/17 for the next IVF Cycle, which officially began stims on 02/18/17.
Fast Forward: we got 4 fertilized embryos from that cycle. Transferred one fresh, but it did not stick, so we have 3 frozen embryos currently. Went in to the fertility clinic in July to talk about a FET of one of those three frozen embryos, but a new fibroid was discovered, and I was not cleared to do the transfer until I had fibroid removal surgery.
08/11/17 had a mini-laparotomy / myomectomy to remove 6 fibroids, largest sized were the size of golf-balls! Once we were cleared to go about our normal lives (sex!) I got pregnant NATURALLY but it was a chemical pregnancy. The very next month we had another BFP and here we are now with a baby on the way! A TOTAL AND COMPLETE MIRACLE!

@mandasand How do you like it in Balboa? I'm being seen there now and so far I like it.
  • @Nim I'm biased because I spent two years working with private clinics before going to NMCSD. The level of care and facilities are better at private clinics. I knew I had to do IVF based on two years of testing and seeing doctors at two private clinics in SD. We were trying to come up with the $30k for IVF when I discovered I could switch to my husbands insurance and get covered through Tricare if I got accepted into the military infertility program. So, I was able to get a referral and finally got an appointment (took 3 months). Typically, I think they usually deal mostly with medicated timed inetrcourse and IUIs. While they also do IVF, they exhaust all other procedures first. That wasn't possible for me since it was clear I had to get right to IVF. Since the waiting list at that time was about 10 months, we did do an IUI cycle just for fun. The doctors rotate so even though Dr Laufer is the director and has so many years of experience, I prefer Wittenberger. You can't really choose and depending on their schedule, you'll see both of them during treatment. That being said, I cannot complain. They allowed me to do a second round of IVF even though that's not their typical protocol. IVF costs $3950 and that is the fee for the outside embryologist. They cover all testing, ultrasounds, meds, etc. At UCSD it was going to cost me $27k for IVF and at SD Fertility $30k. That being said, you have to be your own advocate. I had a really negative experience in October during my first IVF attempt. I spoke to Dr W after I got a BFN and after talking about all the options, he agreed to try IVF again, and would discuss with Dr L about it. My second time has been much better. Dr L has been way more compassionate. I am a very challenging patient for them and its become my second home lately so I can say that I have a better relationship with the doctors now than I did before. Let me know if you have specific questions...

@mandasand Thank you for your reply. Wow I didn't realize it cost that much for IVF at private clinics. Sorry to hear that your first IVF wasn't successful. When do you start your second IVF? The price for IVF in Balboa is great! I've been at Balboa since April last year but didn't start with treatments til September or October last year. I feel like I'm challenging patient for them as well. I was seeing Dr. W and now Dr. L. I didn't know they rotate lol. I did 3 IUIs there but no success and was supposed to do 4th IUI but was cancelled since I had too many follicles. Now we are planing to do our first IVF early April. I just got a call today when I can start IVF process. I was told I'm supposed to do injections class do you know what time she does it (tried to email/call but couldn't get a hold of her) and do you know if they do the ER in the mornings only? It's nice to find someone who goes to Balboa too. Thanks again!
