@kris031409 you and I have the exact same drug protocol....even the two triggers! You are not in IL by any chance, are you? If you are, we are prob at the same clinic. I have a lower dosage of follistim though...250. It might be because they have prior knowledge of how your body responds to hormones (this is my first experience with anything as we did not do IUI first), so maybe they feel comfortable starting you off on a higher dosage.
@HottLemonade2886 it only takes one to make that bundle of joy! keep positive thoughts and hopefully testing shows its perfect!
@LoveDontCostAThing congrats on the 11! Hopefully the continue on their great path!
I was told my ER will be Saturday. Phew! It will have been 14 days from starting stims to ER.
Went into work today and my attending told me I look 4 months pregnant. Lol, good thing she knows what I am going through otherwise I think she would have wanted an explanation. My scrubs don'f offer enough coverage anymore to hide my bloating! Lol, so happy this is almost over!

Howdy ladies, checking in and catching up after my ER this morning.
First, having never had any sort of procedure ever (let alone being put under) WOW. I Was just blown away by the whole thing. After waking up after the procedure, I think I thanked everyone in the room 100 times and told them they were all amazing about 1000.
I had some pain post procedure, but now that I've napped a bit and had some food, I feel much more like myself!
They retrieved 13 eggs from my 24 follicles. Doc and nurses were all surprised, but I guess some just had liquid in them? DHs sperm got the thumbs up and now we wait for our fertilization report tomorrow. THE WAIT. UGH. THE WAIT.
@HottLemonade2886 and tons of positive thoughts that PGS comes back perfect! I'm keeping the 'it only takes one' mantra top of mind as well!
All my BWH peeps, wow, the staff is just amazing. My attending nurse was actually my weeeknd nurse in Nh so it was awesome having a familiar face. And a clinic mate (she was on daily monitoring all weekend same time as me) went into ER right after me!
Good of luck to all, now for ice cream and tea and snoozes
@cmiller73 - yay on a successful retrieval! haha, i remember when i was put under when i got my wisdom teeth out, there were good stories about what i said and how i acted...it's awesome 13 is a good number! looking forward to hearing how many fertilized and stuff! have fun with the ice cream and tea and snoozes!
Wow I really missed a lot! It seems that everyone has so many follicles, I don't think I have that many....though I am only on my 4th day of stims...I have no idea what to think or how to be positive at this point lol
caseyw8784 I'm on day 4 of stims. Aww I know - those hormones make me teary-eyed too, though not yet on this cycle but I usually get to the state where I shed some tears even when watching some stupid reality show
@Rachel_leigh22 today is day 4 for me as well and I feel the exact same way!!! First IVF for me and we skipped all the other option as we're out of pocket.
Last night, I woke up twice with hot flashes. Ugh!!!
@Rachel_leigh22 - on day 4, i think i only had 2 measurable follicles...today i'm on day 12, and have about 22! This whole process is definitely a lesson in patience...
AFM, had another ultrasound appointment this morning. Left ovary was hiding, so the doctor said she couldn't see/measure all of the follicles. many were bigger than they were yesterday, and there were a couple new ones that were over 10mm. even though she only measured 8, she said there were probably about 10 follicles over 10mm...largest two are both 16.5. Right ovary now has 12 follicles, up from 8 yesterday. Largest two are 18.5 and 17.5. She said depending on my blood work that i might trigger tonight, or possibly tomorrow night. I kind of want to wait until tomorrow, so the smaller ones can grow a bit more and get a chance to mature before the ER...
@caseyw8784 I told you it would be Friday!! I think it would be wise to wait. I'm headed in this morning for blood and U/S (I'm in San Siego so it's still early here). I'm running out of steam but hoping there is some increased sized follicles so I can also trigger tomorrow. I have a rash all over my body and now I'm feeling queasy. I'm sure I'm allergic to something but as long as I don't fall over, I'm going to keep going. This is my last shot with my eggs so I'm going to make the most of it.

Got my fertilization report- 16 eggs retrieved and 12 fertilized. I'll hear next on day 3 and then again on day 5. It makes me nervous to hear how quickly the numbers can decrease! Hoping they keep dividing!
@kris031409 - I was initially given lupron & hCG to trigger too, but then my RE just had me use the hCG. I think the lupron trigger is supposed to decrease the chance of OHSS.

I'm going to stim one more day to get that 14 higher for better chance. Doctor thinks I'll only get 3 and the left isn't doing much. However, I could end up with 4.
I have decided to move ahead despite only have 3 follicles. I will go in for one more ultrasound tomorrow to check that 14mm follie. Then trigger tomorrow. Retrieval will be Sunday.
This is my last shot using my eggs. The doctor said he will do it if I want but had to suggest IUI and cannot guarantee a success % based on the follicle count. Ideally their threshold is 5 mature follies but he said he's willing to do anything I want since he knows this is the best shot I have for using my eggs.

Just got the portal instructions. E2 is 2164. Tonight I'm stimming with same dosage of cetrotide and menopur but decreasing gonal-f to 150iu. Triggering tomorrow night with the ER on Sunday 3/12! @mandasand, we're gonna be ER buddies!
QsMadd - I'm in PA, but thanks, I'm glad to know it's normal to not have Menopur in the protocol, that seems like the norm. Good luck with your ER!
Question for everyone - how many follies did they count at your baseline vs. how many are growing and/or retrieved? I had my baseline scan this morning, they counted 15 total.

@kris031409 - the day i had my baseline, the office was busy and the tech didn't tell me what my afc was. in the past though, i usually had 20+ follies at the day 3 ultrasounds. right now i have about 20-22 measureable follicles growing, and "many" that are under 10mm. triggering tomorrow night for a sunday ER...
@caseyw8784 yay! So exciting! I'm not sure what my E2 was this morning because results weren't back when I did U/S this morning. I'll do gonal-f 300 tonight, then meno and granelix tomorrow morning, then trigger tomorrow night. I would love to eek out some more follies but I don't want to be greedy at this point! Im rooting for my 4-5 sweeties.

@mandasand - haha i was kind of thinking the same thing...what would happen if i didn't decrease the gonal-f - would i get a few more mature follicles? but i don't want to screw it all up, so i'll follow my RE's orders...lol
random question (to anyone who has already done an ivf cycle)....about how much does a follicle grow each day? i've heard usually 2mm/day? so, by sunday i could assume that a 14mm follicle would grow about 6mm to be roughly +/-20mm?
@caseyw8784 From my experience in January, about 2mm/day for me, but I was an over responder and at the last day they doubled my dose to mature the smaller ones.
@kris031409 At my baseline in January I had only 12 AFC but by retrieval I had 22 follicles, but I was an over-responder and plus, not all were mature/able to fertilize, just 13 (so the AFC was basically the number of mature eggs). As for Menopur, only after I heard another RE say that it wasn't necessarily good for me did I realize it's a harsh hormone that overstimulates the women with good reserve.
@caseyw8784 *Lurking** I have been following you girlie I have had 2 ER and I think my follies were growing at about 2mm per day. When you trigger it usually gives them that extra push to maturity. I stimmed for 10 or 11 days both ERs and didn't trigger until most follies were about 19. I have my fertilization reports in my siggy I think you are right there to trigger any day now Good Luck girlie!!

@caseyw8784good luck Sunday! Here's to many mature eggs from all those follies!
@HottLemonade2886 Looks like we are sisters in results. Of my 13 they retrieved, only 3 fertilized. Again unexpected results per my embryologist team. RE is recommending going into another fresh cycle immediately and sending all embryos that make it to day 5 (FX) to the genetics lab for batch storage til the next retrieval.
Emotional rollercoaster? Check. Trying to stay positive. Check.
@cmiller73 - Ugh so sorry. That is never an easy thing to hear and it doesn't make it any easier when they don't know why. I was talking with DH and he said the RE came in after my ER before I was completely awake and said 7 out of 14 were mature. If that's the case and all 7 fertilized that's good but why only 1 blast was good enough to freeze isn't. I'm starting to think I should have stimmed longer and started at a lower dose of meds early on but maybe that wouldn't have made a difference. I still want to talk to the RE and see if they have any insight. FX your three keep on growing strong!
No updates today They didn't call so I hope my embryos are doing well, but who knows! They will call tomorrow, and my transfer is on Saturday. Is anyone else doing a fresh transfer???
@mtele -sounds very similar to me! I hope they all keep growing!
@cmiller73 -i'm sorry...that is very surprising...especially since they originally thought there were 24. It sucks that the embryologists/ doctors can't give us more info because it's all so random. do they have any theories for the low fertilization rate? FX that the three that fertilized are perfect

@caseyw8784 30 follicles but prob half of them are smaller than 13 today. I haven't been asking too much about my ovaries because I have been getting told they look great while my endometrial lining has been super thick and has a potential polyp (our main concern). Since this was my first IVF, I wanted to just focus on getting through it and letting the doctor/nurses worry about my numbers/follicles, so I never ask for them and the ultrasound tech will just mention my largest and how many there are every so often. I have been a very low key patient!
I keep taking these super long walks outside (even in the cold) and my attending asked why I keep walking so much. I told him I wanted my eggs to be labeled as 'free range'.

@QsMadd -yay for another fresh cycle buddy! anyone else?? 30 follicles! That's great...can't wait to hear how many are retrieved. Did they say where the polyp is located? I had a few polyps removed over the summer. They said that they weren't a big deal except that the location of one was where an embryo implants, so they wanted to remove it.

@LoveDontCostAThing it is located near the fundus. The problem is that I had a polypectomy in august which removed over 15 polyps and then another polypectomy/hysteroscopy in February which removed another polyp and some polypoid endometrium. They just can't believe another polyp can form that quickly....they don't know what to make of it because it is unheard of. The only reason we did IVF from the start (and not IUI) was because we knew we were racing against more polyps from forming but we were surprised to see this one come back so quickly.

@Rachel_leigh22@IfYouCanDreamIt@Angelaag I’m on day 4 of stims today too (well just finished), I have ER scheduled for 3/17 (lucky St. Paddy’s

@Angelaag ugh, hot flashes at night are the WORST. Thankfully, the hot flashes are only plaguing me during the
day…..the morning actually, right before I have to go out and see clients. Yay!
@LoveDontCostAThing we are doing a fresh transfer with PGS.
They send cells on day 5 to the lab, get results by the next morning and
transfer on day 6.
AFM this is the first day with headaches….ugh. I never get
headaches, so I can’t imagine how awful it must be to get migraines. Starting
at 4pm today all I wanted to do was sleep……or shovel mac and cheese into my
mouth and then sleep. Haha. I’ve also started feeling a little achiness in my
ovaries (I usually get really distinct O pain and this is like a very very mild
version), which is surprising since I still have so many days to go. I figured
I wouldn’t feel any ovary stuff until next week. We have an ultrasound and
bloodwork tomorrow morning to see how things are progressing. I’m excited to
see what’s brewing in there!

I had the ultrasonographer scan abdominally today to find my left ovary. Turns out the lead follicle on that side was 21mm. The nurse told me the follicle sizes but I could keep them straight. I wish she just said x number are ready, x number expected to be ready by egg retrieval. So I'm guessing 7-14 mature follicles by ER? That's a pretty wide range. They had me decrease follistim to 75u tonight. Based on tomorrow's scan and blood work, I might trigger tomorrow night for a Sunday ER. So @caseyw8784 and @mandasand I might be ER buddies with u ladies.
do these medications cause hot flashes? I caught a cold over the weekend and felt like I was having fevers most of the week. I thought I had a really bad cold or the flu. I didn't realize it could be a Med side effect.
@Angelaag 1st IVF for us too, and all out of pocket also...been there with the side effects! Hot flashes, mood swings, bloat that came so fast that I got stretch marks on my lower stomach

I must say, my pelvis is starting to ache. It really hit me this afternoon. My 7-14 follicles are a lot to handle. I don't know how ladies with 20-30 can even move. Bless your hearts!

IVF ER 5/5/2016

3/10/2017 One beating heart HR 168!! So very happy
3/10/2017 Official graduate from Jones Institute for Reproductive Health!! Couldn't help but cry
6/8/2017 Anatomy Scan proves ITS A GIRL!
10/30/17 An angel was Born; Riley Charlize 7:50 AM my heart is so full
@HottLemonade2886 Looks like we are sisters in results. Of my 13 they retrieved, only 3 fertilized. Again unexpected results per my embryologist team. RE is recommending going into another fresh cycle immediately and sending all embryos that make it to day 5 (FX) to the genetics lab for batch storage til the next retrieval.
Emotional rollercoaster? Check. Trying to stay positive. Check.

I keep taking these super long walks outside (even in the cold) and my attending asked why I keep walking so much. I told him I wanted my eggs to be labeled as 'free range'.

@Rachel_leigh22 @IfYouCanDreamIt @Angelaag I’m on day 4 of stims today too (well just finished), I have ER scheduled for 3/17 (lucky St. Paddy’s day!). When are your ERs?
@Angelaag ugh, hot flashes at night are the WORST. Thankfully, the hot flashes are only plaguing me during the day…..the morning actually, right before I have to go out and see clients. Yay!
@LoveDontCostAThing we are doing a fresh transfer with PGS. They send cells on day 5 to the lab, get results by the next morning and transfer on day 6.
@QsMadd “free range”!! I love it!
AFM this is the first day with headaches….ugh. I never get headaches, so I can’t imagine how awful it must be to get migraines. Starting at 4pm today all I wanted to do was sleep……or shovel mac and cheese into my mouth and then sleep. Haha. I’ve also started feeling a little achiness in my ovaries (I usually get really distinct O pain and this is like a very very mild version), which is surprising since I still have so many days to go. I figured I wouldn’t feel any ovary stuff until next week. We have an ultrasound and bloodwork tomorrow morning to see how things are progressing. I’m excited to see what’s brewing in there!

do these medications cause hot flashes? I caught a cold over the weekend and felt like I was having fevers most of the week. I thought I had a really bad cold or the flu. I didn't realize it could be a Med side effect.
