  • @mrsstuessy congrats on all the good news! I am a little anxious about the drive to my hospital as well. It can be 25 min or 2 hours depending on what time of day/traffic will be like. It will most likely be a 45 to an hour drive though. Doesn't help that I have a friend who delivered her first baby in the car on the way to the hospital which was only 10 min away. My dr and my mom keep trying to reassure me that I can always take an ambulance if necessary lol. That hasn't really helped ... I'm just hoping it all works out. May just need to leave for the hospital a little earlier. Sounds like you have some ideas to ease the drive. Good luck!

  • @mrsstuessy my car ride to the hospital with DS was also about 20 minutes and it felt like an hour! And mind you, this was at 4:30-5am on a Sunday so DH was flooring it. My hospital now is about 20 minutes away again (maybe 30), but if it's evening rush hour.... :#

  • I'm similar to all you ladies in that the hospital is about 25min away in good traffic.  Hopefully when this LO decides to come and I have to leave for the hospital it isn't during rush hour.

  • I'm just going to vent in the randoms thread for a minute. My group of 5 people were tasked to put together a PowerPoint presentation that details out what we do. The higher ups want all the groups to do it so they can get a better comprehensive idea of what everyone does. So everyone does their section of the PowerPoint and I compile it all together for a meeting today with my group and manager to go over it, make edits, etc. First, its pretty obvious that the PowerPoint was put together by different people (which isn't necessarily bad, just really not cohesive). Second, everyone in that damn meeting got on my nerves. No one other than myself and my manager were giving input on changes. One guy in particular gets offended if you change anything he does, so of course, he was having a meltdown. On one section of slides, my boss wanted us to be super specific, and then on another section of slides she didn't care, etc. It was a complete shit show. The presentation is for the higher up managers, they have a basic knowledge of what we do, we don't need to dumb it down to a 3rd grade level for them. But whatever....and of course, I'm the main organizer/presenter, so everyone looks to me for guidance. I DON'T GIVE ANY SHITS!!!! Did I mention that I'm mentally checked out already?!?!

Totally random: @shaunessa You were in TTGP?!?! Maybe my brain is just malfunctioning, but I thought I just knew you from here! HAHAHAHA!!! Also, I should have kept up the the TTGP Grad thread, but I didn't feel like there was a ton of participation, so I dropped it. So that's my bad...

    ETA: @SDSwenson too?!?!

  • I have no nesting urge whatsoever. The house is a mess. The nursery is a mess. I haven't washed or put away a single spot of clothing for this kid. No hospital bag packed. Nada. NOTHING.

I made a list of nesting things to do this week, but they feel like chores. I was MUCH more excited and motivated to do this stuff when I was pregnant with DS, so I don't know what is wrong with me this time around.

35 weeks today and had a pretty good nesting day. It's now almost 11 and I've been having regular BH contractions, I'm shivering (this is weird to me) and my back hurts. I'm "ready" for her to come but I could go for another night or two of good sleep before a hospital stay
Do your shivers come and go like a fever? If so, I'd urge you to get checked out. When I was 34 weeks with DS, I was having fairly regular contractions that I thought were BH, and shiver, then hot flashes, then shivers, then hot flashes. And my back hurt so bad. Turns out I was going into premature labor. Don't want to scare you but something to be aware of.

I definitely had back labor with DS so now whenever I have intense back pain, I start to worry about labor coming. It was never abdominal for me.

  • @taylor72 I've been shivering in the evenings when I'm ready for bed and I exhausted. It's weird to me too. I didn't think about if it might mean something else like @KirstinH88 said. So I'll keep an eye on that too. But if yours is random and goes away, you're not alone!

  • I felt cold all the time with DS, which I thought was really weird. I would also get it really bad in the evenings when I was exhausted. I haven't had it as bad this time around, though. In fact, I finally understand the "be thankful you're not pregnant during the summer" comments because I think I would just run around naked all the time if that were the case.

I just went to look and my name was tagged for some reason?  Ha, I can tell you I was NOT trying to get pregnant with this little guy right now!  I was with DS 3 years ago.  Super weird!!!!
    KirstinH88
  • @shaunessa there must be someone else whose username starts with the same first few letters as yours and they accidentally tagged you instead. That's pretty funny!

  • @shaunessa So strange!!! I'll have to go and fill them in, so they can stop tagging you.  ;) I didn't think I had recognized you from there. But what do I know, I suffer from major pregnancy brain. hahaha!!

  • @KirstinH88 ahh, I hadn't thought it could mean something! My feet just randomly got huge today too.  I think maybe I'll call in the morning.  I just hate hate hate feeling like I'm always bugging them and constantly calling over something that's probably nothing

    KirstinH88smoochie041719
  • @Taylor72 the only reason why I brought it up is because of my past experience. Otherwise I wouldn't think anything of it either. My situation was a bladder infection that turned into a kidney infection (hence the chills/fever and back pain). I was hospitalized for a whole week while they were able to stop my contractions (I was at 3cm already) and get the right set of antibiotics for the infections. I had to be fever free for 24 hours before they would discharge me and every time I almost made it, a fever would kick back in. This was when I was 34 weeks, so I'm extra paranoid and have my eyes out for any similar symptoms this go around.

  • @KirstinH88 yikes! that sounds scary! especially the kidney infection part....pregnancy is painful enough without adding more to it.

    KirstinH88smoochie041719
  • @Taylor72 I was definitely miserable. I went to the OB on day 1 of pain and she told me that it was just normal pregnancy/body expanding stuff and to take it easy. Day 2 was rough. And by day 3 (my baby shower) I was MISERABLE. Luckily my baby shower was at my house so I didn't have to do much. I didn't wear any makeup that day and barely got dressed. After the baby shower my SIL called L&D and told them that I'd be coming in for monitoring because something wasn't normal.  :D
