Re: PGAL Check In 2/22

  • I agree with the yogurt. I never use over the counter medication anymore since yogurt always fixes the problem! Definitely worth a try girls!

  • Ok...freaking out. So I'm WAY congested, can't breathe, ears not popping etc. My approved meds list says I can take Sudafed (on the shelf) for congestion...so I got the 4-hr Sudafed off the shelf at Walgreens and not the box from the pharmacist where you show ID etc because it contains pseudaphedrine.  The one I have is phenylephrine which doesn't do shit for me me normally for congestion. I took one two days ago and took another today.
then I googled and saw someone else's OB list and it said Sudafed FROM THE PHARMACIST and NOT the Phenylephrine!!! Gah!!! Which F'ING one is it? Now I feel like I took some horrific drug at 11 weeks and want to cry. To top it off, I now have a low grade fever so just had to pop Tylenol!!

Someone talk me off the ledge...

@Texafornian I responded in the other thread about the meds ( and wasn't very helpful, I'm afraid.) I did find this:

"Two studies involving more than 1500 women who took phenylephrine in the first trimester did not show an increased chance for birth defects."

ETA: I would definitely call your Dr tomorrow for clarification, but I think you're okay.

  • @HollyGolightly09 I texted my PA and she wrote back:
It's fine. The one off the shelf. Not the one with pharmacist. You'll be fine! I promise.
Call tomorrow if need antibiotic. Or just txt me!

    So i I feel better...lol

There are alot of us.  My due date would have been this Saturday.  I feel very lucky to be pregnant again right now.  This weekend would be really rough without the hopefulness for our September baby.

Mine would have been this Thursday. I'm glad those of us who had to leave are on another BMB! I know it will still be a hard day but I have my US on Friday so remaining hopeful and positive. ❤

  • @sugargirl1019 awwww and I'm so happy to be here with all you March loss mamas <3

@jmn1985 I agree that the hopefulness of this September Baby is making the coming of March so much easier. I am a little nervous for due date week...our due date was the 16th and we are having friends over on the 18th to announce our September LO (I wanted it the week after to give myself some breathing room in case I was a mess that week, but some of our closest friends aren't available that weekend, so I figured I would get through it). It's like, I should be doing a birth announcement now, but this is the next best thing, but then I feel guilty about being "ok" with how things are now, but then I feel guilty for wishing I had my first one back, because this LO wouldn't be possible if I had been able to keep the first one. It's just such a weird emotion to feel that I know you all understand.

  • so a lot of my symptoms are starting to die down (i should be happy right?) but in the back of my mind it makes me uneasy. Thankfully next week we go to the NT Scan & my 12wk Appointment. But its been 4wks since I've seen my LO and my PGAL brain likes to say hi when I'm getting ready for bed and mess me up.
  • @lahearn18 mine are too.  I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and I'm not really bloated anymore.  I used to be so hungry all the time, and now I'm just back to normal.  And I didn't actually realize how crappy i was feeling (no vomiting or anything, just general crappiness).  But now that I feel like a functional human being, it is very obvious in retrospect.  Everything I've read says that since placenta is taking over around this time, we might start feeling better so crossing my fingers that that is all this is.  My 1st doppler appt is next Wednesday, so I'm with you for the waiting game!!  <3

@lahearn18 @jmn1985 my symptoms really started disappearing around 11 weeks, everything says its normal but it is def scary

after our Healthy 12 week scan DH really pushed for us to announce the pregnancy on facebook... prior to that only close family knew.... so we did and now I'm having small panic attacks thinking about having to tell everyone if something goes wrong... I should have pushed harder to wait but I feel so bad, DH is so excited and I feel like I bring his excitement down :(

  • @texafornian I'm sorry for the stressful test results...  before I went for my NT scan I was researching like crazy and also found instances where the nuchal measurement resolved on it's own.... crossing my fingers for you and your LO!

  • @Texafornian I'm sorry the scan made you more anxious instead of less! Try to stay calm (stupid thing to say, I know...) I hope this next week passes quickly for you! (Hugs)

  • @Texafornian
i concur with @hollygolightly09 you have to stay calm (or try to) until the rest of the results come back, and then continue down the line if necessary when more definitive tests can be done, as you said the NT scan can not be really used alone for diagnosis, and even then there are additional tests that are far more accurate than the blood work they took at this time if that is even necessary. Prayers that you can stay calm for the next week.
  • @Texafornian
echoing what everyone else has said. Praying for good results next week. I am so thankful beyond this scary news everything else seems to be healthy with baby!

My neighbor said with her DD they had similar results after the NT scan, but her DD is a perfectly healthy 7 year old now.

Praying for peace and calm for you over the next week as you wait for the blood result to come in!

  • @Texafornian I'm sorry you got such distressing news, I can't even imagine how hard it must be to try staying calm right now. Just remember, you have us to share every freak out with, and you know we'll be counting down the next week with you! All my prayers for you an that sweet baby. ((Hugs))

  • @lahearn18 @jmn1985 your posts could not have come at a better time. I am going through some of the same feelings you are. I had a much easier day today--some milder nausea and fatigue in the late afternoon, way less boob pain, and lots of worry of what the loss of symptoms could mean. I'm a couple weeks behind you (will be 10w on Thursday) and as much as I've hated being sick, I find myself wishing that my symptoms do continue so I can feel a sense of reassurance that baby is ok. We had a strong hb (175) on Friday at 9w1d, so I am trying to accept that some moderation of symptoms at this point could just be a normal thing, though it's happening a little earlier than I was expecting. I'm concerned...but reminding myself I have made changes since my losses that could help me get to a healthy baby. I will try to stay positive and send good thoughts to you also!

@Texafornian it seems like the NT scan can cause extra worry with many false "positives" (for lack of a better word). Hang in there as best as you can while you wait for the blood work. Sending good thoughts for a healthy baby!!!!!
  • @texafornian praying that everything is okay.
  • @Texafornian My sister tested positive for Downs with her 4th both with the blood and the NT scan. Her daughter does not have Downs.

I think a lot of these "positives" are higher likelihood but not actual definites. I'm sure you'll be fine!
