@Texafornian that sucks! i would have puked whether i was pregnant or not over spoiled milk yuck! I have only puked once this pregnancy, and it was a sympathy puke as DH was drunk off his ass and called me while puking because he wanted "help" from 2000 miles away...yep i ran to the trash can and puked.
How far along
are you? 12w5d How are you doing? (Mentally,
physically...) We just got the results back on our panorama test and everything came
back low risk!! I’m so relieved
When is your next appointment? Tuesday for my NT Scan
Rant/Rave/Questions? We are doing a
gender reveal party on 3/11 and my best friend is mailing the invites out
tomorrow. I just realized we haven’t actually announced our pregnancy so we
should probably do that before people get invites but I just don’t feel ready
yet! I’m so scared that we’re going to miscarry immediately after announcing.
GTKY: What's your
favorite thing to eat for breakfast? (Both now that you're pregnant, and
before) Breakfast
tacos both before and now and really all throughout the day if I could!
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...) Not great. My morning sickness is still here and kicking my butt but I still don't have my first OB appt until March 13. I just want to make sure everything is ok in there!
When is your next appointment? March 13th is my first appt at 12 weeks.
Rant/Rave/Questions? No
GTKY: What's your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? (Both now that you're pregnant, and before) Waffles and bacon
Does anyone else have an irrational fear of taking antibiotics while pregnant? I went to the obgyn today because I've been having some itching and burning that comes and goes, and some greenish discharge that comes and goes. They prescribed me antibiotics which they said are fine to take while pregnant. But I just have this irrational fear since everything has gone well so far, that it's going to cause something to go wrong.
@heatherwilson321 I dread ever taking antibiotics. I had a UTI in my first pregnancy at 10 weeks. Everything just absolutely spiraled out of control after taking the antibiotics including a number of yeast and BV infections. It was antibiotics after antibiotics. This pregnancy I am being very cautious and also making sure to eat some sort of probiotic foods everyday to keep infections away since we as pregnant women are so prone to them. Did she run a swab test to make sure it was an actual infection? If it is I would take the antibiotic she prescribed along with a good probiotic. If she did not swab or test then I would be concerned and ask for a second opinion. There are always side effects to taking any medication but there are risks for not clearing an infection.
Had my MFM appt for cell free DNA this afternoon and baby looked great! Tech said everything measured/looked good on baby. She went through each measurement and pointed out each body part to us, which was amazing!
A little back story, 2nd PG ended in loss- baby had holoprocensaphaly (brain did not separate into two hemispheres, looked more like a U) and Trisomy 13.
So the brain was the first thing she pointed out (not sure if she saw my record and made sure to do that first or it was just a coincidence) and showed the 2 hemispheres and said it looks great. I started tearing up and then basically lost it. I was hyperventilating I was crying so hard. The tech stopped and said she'd give us some time and to come get her when we were ready. I was getting anxiety before the appt but wasn't expecting to have a breakdown. I guess all of those old emotions just came flooding back. It.was.rough. But I calmed down after a few minutes and only teared up one other time when the baby was wiggling all around. Left feeling pretty relieved. But we still have to wait for the blood results to come back, which takes about 2 weeks. Also measuring 1w3d ahead, wondering if now the dr will change my due date. And heart rate was 161 bpm. Updated in the ultrasound thread as well.
@heatherwilson321 If it helps any, my doctor prescribed me antibiotics at the end of Week 7/beginning Week 8 because of a (minor) UTI. Just had my NT earlier this week at 12w1d and everything looked great. I didn't think to question my doctor at the time because she's been AMAZING since day 1 and I can tell that she's very experienced; she would never do anything to jeopardize the baby, and Week 8 is a very vulnerable time for the embryo at that... I wouldn't worry.
How are you doing? (Mentally,
physically...) Pretty well after a really good NT scan earlier this week (though it took such a long time for the "baby" to cooperate! Poor thing). I loved seeing the baby, roughly the size of an apricot, really looking like a baby and wiggling around, moving his/her arms and legs. My husband loved it too; I can tell we've since both become more attached to the little one.
When is your next appointment? Not until March 22 for the 16 week visit. (Can I go that long?!)
Rant/Rave/Questions? Question. When are you telling people, like outside of your very close friends and immediate family? Didn't expect to wait this long, but excited to tell my parents *tomorrow* because it's a big anniversary for them and it'll be really special timing. But I'm wondering about other people, friends, etc.? Maybe not for a few more weeks, but I dunno!
GTKY: What's your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? (Both now that you're pregnant, and before) I'm usually not a big breakfast person, but being pregnant I'm finding it more important to eat more and more regularly, so my ideal breakfast (if I'm feeling well) is a green smoothie (frozen pineapple, spinach, green grapes, almond butter, and almond milk) and a soft-boiled egg with toast. I know they say not to have runny eggs, but the eggs I'm buying are good quality, organic, etc. and I mean, come on?! ;-)
@ashley2824 big hugs mama! Glad you had a good scan today...
@margareth I announced at 15w last time...it took 18 days to get my genetics labs back (crazy ass long time) and I had them done at 12w...sooooo! I'll prob do the same...wait for my results and then I'll figure out announcing. edited to add...there's a brand of pasteurized eggs I think Davids Pasteurized eggs maybe? Anyway...kind of hit or miss finding them but they are totally fine for runny yolks due to the pasteurization!
@Texafornian Omg I had the exact same thing happen to me! Rice chex and all! I was SO bummed to not get to taste the tummy cereal... and then yea the sickness afterwards.
@heatherwilson321 can you ask for Diflucan with the abx? That will treat any yeast infection associated with abx use.
ETA: I didn't even look to see if Diflucan is safe in pregnancy and now I'm bummed that it might not be
Just an FYI on the Diflucan...the ONE time I took it for a yeast infection I had a shitty (literally) side effect lmao. Tmi but I took it and that eve I dropped a friend off at her house and started getting a gurgly tummy. I tried to stop at a fast food place to go to the bathroom but there was no parking and I was like two minutes from home. I realized I wasn't going to make it and literally has that moment in "Bridesmaids" where she's in the dress and craps in the street lol. It was AWFUL! I had on skin tight jeans that kept everything in (my car was thankful hahaha) but holy hell!!! I absolutely refuse to take that stuff now...killed the yeast but the ramifications were um, less than desirable. Hilarious in retrospect...but still wouldn't want anyone taking that without knowing it's a possible side effect to lose control of your bowels!
I've had some cramping today, and my back is killing me. I haven't been able to find Zeb's heartbeat since the first time. I'm trying to tell myself that I heard it at 11 weeks (Monday) because all the stars were aligned. And NOT being able to find it since is just normal. In my normal person brain I know that is so true. In my pgal brain, with the medium/light cramping, I'm anxious. No bleeding.
It's not a yeast infection, the cervical mucus has a greenish tint to it, and it's definitely not the same as past yeast infections I've had. I'm going to wait to take the medicine till I call my doctor back today to see what the lab results were. The pharmacist said the medicine wasn't recommended for the first trimester which makes me even more worried. But also, if it's bacterial vaginosis, that can cause second trimester miscarriages, so I definitely want to take something, I just want to make sure it's the right something.
If you are new this week... Welcome! Please introduce yourself. Hi! I believe I have posted here before, but haven't been consistent. I have an almost 3 year old dd and had a miscarriage in October. How far along are you? 9 weeks 1 day
How are you doing? (Mentally, physically...) I'm doing pretty good so far. My symptoms are there daily so I keep telling myself that is a good sign. With my mc my symptoms went away pretty early in pregnancy. I have my first ultrasound today. That is where we found out last time our baby stopped growing at 6 weeks 4 days. So today I'm more of a mess of nerves than usual.
When is your next appointment? Today! First ultrasound the. Next week Friday have my first OB appointment.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Having trouble drinking enough water all day. It is getting to the point that water is tasking gross so I need to figure out how to mix it up.
GTKY: What's your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? (Both now that you're pregnant, and before) love eggs, bacon, and toast. Have been making breakfast sandwiches lately with eggs, meat, cheese on an English muffin for some reason it has been tasting amazing!!
@heatherwilson321 I have also had days were my cervical mucus had a greenish/yellow tint to it but I never had any itching or burning/ smell which is a sign of infection. Just take the antibiotics and keep us updated!
Holy crap (literally) @Texafornian! I just laughed for 5 minutes at your story. I mean, very sorry it happened and all, but the Bridesmaids visual was too much
@jena333 I'm sorry you're feeling anxious. The home doppler is so scary for that very reason, but I hope you get some reassurance soon!
@heatherwilson321 I took a 7-day course of that when I was 6 to 7 weeks along. I had some bleeding (I was ok, thankfully!) but at the ER they did a swab and discovered bacterial vaginosis. I'm still fine four weeks later and glad I took the meds. I know Dr Google isn't always the best but I did learn the bacterial infection itself could potentially increase the risk of miscarriage, so I dutifully took my antibiotics. I hope you get some more info from your dr that eases your mind!
@flowerx2 good luck at your u/s! Keep us updated! We discovered our MMC at out u/s last time also, so I know what you're going through. My blood pressure when they checked me in this time was so freaking high.
Can someone please mute my PGAL brain? Nightmare last night there was so much blood. Woke up with a panic at 230a and couldn't go back to sleep til almost 4am of course after checking for blood in real life.
ugh i actually thought i was past the morning sickness today i woke up, my lower abdomen, kind of by my pelvic region is tender to the touch and I have been feeling super sick all day

@jena333 have you been trying to find the heart beat in the same spot? I know with my DD, as I was further along, I always found it in the same area. I've been hit or miss this time but I'm 10+4. I found it the other day and just found it again but it was a full inch and a half to my right from last time and I could only hear it with the wand tilted a certain direction. So most likely as you said, the stars were aligned for you on Monday...don't panic! It's truly difficult to locate at this stage and the little buggers move about so much. Also try it on a full bladder...
Got shoved hard into a wall today, so that's fun for my PGAL brain. I teach 8th grade and a student shoved another student hard during class change, and that student fell back and knocked me hard into a wall. I'm pretty sure it's going to leave a bruise, it knocked the wind out of me. I was LIVID.
I had my 12 week appt today! Official weight gain was 9 pounds.. they're being nice to me.
We heard the HB nice and loud at 168 did the pap and breast exam.. got a ton of papers and my delivery payment plan! And did NIPT testing in one stick! Woo! I'm doing the Verifi by Progenity test, which tests for Trisomy 21, 18 and 13.. as well as XXX, XXY, XYY and Turners (X). and the sex! 7-14 days for results, and i'll get the sex in an envelope from the office.
So.. found out I'll probably be induced at 37 weeks. Major bummer. All related to possible diabetes things. She says we'll be lucky to make it to 37.. but I do have good pelvic structure to vaginally deliver.. and I said I'm open to an epidural. I'm kinda depressed about getting a forceful hand put on me.. but I understand diabetes just makes it this way and it's her job to deliver a healthy baby.

@Sugargirl1019 I was induced at 38+5 for heart rate decelerations (baby's)...it wasn't bad at all and I started at zero everything. Wasn't effaced or dilated one but and it took 23hrs from start to baby in my hands...vaginally. I get that it's a disappointment but I promise, in the long run you won't care once you hold that bebe!! Xo And don't stress on the weight and DO NOT weigh yourself for at least two weeks after birth lol. I weighed myself the day I got home and was only down 2.5lbs!!!! Like how could all the water, placenta and a 6.1lb baby not allow me to lose more than THAT!? Lol The IV can make you puff and retain water weight so the scale WILL be skewed...so just don't. It'll come off I promise...just takes time.
Metronidazole is the nastiest tasting medicine I've ever had. If any of you have to take it at some point in the pregnancy, make sure you have some chocolate milk to chase it with. I'm confused though, is there not a test to see if you have bacterial vaginosis? I called my OBGYN yesterday to get my results, because they did a urine test and vaginal swab, and they said it came back negative, but that itching and discharge was what bacterial vaginosis was and to take the medicine anyways.

Yes. They do a swab and run the culture to test for bacterial vaginosis. I had it done last June when I was noticing something funky. I went in THREE times and was put on Metronidazole and another antibiotic because my tests did come back with some bacteria...turns out I'd left a tampon in. How the HELL that happened is BEYOND me lol...and how they didn't catch it during my visits is still astonishing. My OB said it happens more than you think... I didn't have the itching so they were stumped on the BV diagnosis.
My nurse said everything came back negative, but bacterial vaginosis was just the name for itching and burning, and to take the medicine anyways, but everything online says not to take it till after 13 weeks, but I'm only 10 weeks 5 days. I brought this up with the nurse, doctor, and pharmacist, but the nurse and pharmacist didn't sound like they understood. After 2 miscarriages I'm just really freaking out, because this pregnancy seems like it's going so well and I don't want to screw it up. Now the office is closed till Monday.
@heatherwilson321 I totally get your trepidation but infection can definitely cause harm to both you and the fetus whereas Metronidazole is a class b drug with no known effects on humans. If everyone at your OB office and the pharmacist say to take it...I'd listen. You can always wait til Monday morning if you're really freaking out and call your OB with your concerns before taking it. Weigh the risks vs the benefit. I took it while trying to GET pregnant and had similar concerns and my doc office told me it was not an issue...
@heatherwilson321 you're still a normal, rational person...if anything, miscarriages probably made you MORE so because you're now hyper aware and advocate more for your health concerns.
I went to one of those peace of mind US places today. Everything is great A well spent $45. We had a half hour with a bigscreen tv, a bunch of printed pictures, and a cd with 30 images. I'm so glad we went. Sonographer also said it's too soon to be 100% sure, but she thinks it's a boy (which is what I've been feeling)
@heatherwilson321 - This might sound crazy, but I feel that I have to share it with you because it was a lifesaver for me a couple of weeks ago when I was dealing with a particulary nasty yeast infection (TMI, I know - sorry, ladies!). These are the things that helped relieve the itching the most. I know that a yeast infection isn't the same as BV, but again, these were used to treat the itching, not to cure the condition, and they're completely safe, so I think they're worth a try.
Let's start with less crazy first... Run a warm bath, mix in some (non-iodized) sea salt, and soak for 20 minutes. This gave me relief for up to 2 hours. But what worked best, giving me relief for up to 4 or 5 hours, was yogurt. And this is the crazy, TMI, why-in-the-world-would-you-try-that part. I was desperate. But it worked, so I'm glad I did it. Put a pad in your underwear and lay a towel down wherever you feel like hanging out for 20 minutes or so. Get some unsweetened, plain yogurt with active cultures, draw it up in a syringe, lay down on your towel, and use the yogurt as you would a Monistat treatment. Keep adding more yogurt until you fill the vagina. If you're also itchy on the outside, leave some on your skin as well. Then read or watch TV or something for at least 20 minutes. The longer you leave it in the better. Once you're done, head to the bathroom and rinse with warm water. The idea is that the friendly bacteria in the yogurt will help rebalance the ratio of good-to-bad bacteria in the vagina.
I hope this helps! And I hope you get some relief soon!

And don't stress on the weight and DO NOT weigh yourself for at least two weeks after birth lol.

You can always wait til Monday morning if you're really freaking out and call your OB with your concerns before taking it.
Weigh the risks vs the benefit.
I took it while trying to GET pregnant and had similar concerns and my doc office told me it was not an issue...
