We hope to get the wall in the nursery and the wall in DD room painted today. I was also hoping to get some furniture moved from my parents house, but a certain "Great American Race" is making traffic a nightmare. I'll be lucky to make it to Home Depot and back for paint supplies.
I cant complain about the race as I work for one of the most prominent companies associated with it, HA, but the traffic is a nightmare when I live less than 2 miles from the track!
Wish me luck ladies. We are taking the boys to their first Sesame Street live show. I know they will love it, but I hope I don't get to annoyed with all the singing
I have a few projects I'd like to get done this weekend. One is hanging some art in the nursery. The other is refinishing a cheap laminate bookshelf so it matches the rest of the nursery colors.
I don't know! I was supposed to visit a friend out of town, but her grandma is in the hospital so our plans got cancelled. I think we're going to stop over at the in laws to help them with a few things today. I wish I could start packing, but we don't close on our house until April 21st and we didn't have the inspections yet, so it's a little premature for that. Freebie weekend with nothing to do
We had a fire at our friends' house last night, which was really fun to be able to do in February, even though it's because of global warming.

I'm off to the seamstress. My brother gets married April 22 so I'll be large and in charge. I bought two dresses and I suppose I'll see what she suggests to get me into one of them. After that, we are hanging some artwork and curtains and unpacking car seats. We also have a big baby expo tomorrow, so I'll go to that, too!
@0408Bear I was in a wedding when I was pregnant with DD. I'd had the dress since before I got pregnant and it was a bit too small when I bought it. My seamstress worked serious magic and put a "lace up back" in it similar to what some people put in the bride's gown. For the life of me, I can't think of the right word. Anyway, it was expensive, but it worked great.
Some fun plans in here! MH and I are having a lazy morning lounging in bed and watching TV. I have my first shower this afternoon! It was a smaller shower to start and I've had 4 last-minute cancellations this week so I'm just hoping it doesn't feel awkwardly small. Plus the "host" is my friend who just had a baby on Wednesday. But I'm really excited to see the friends and family that we're able to make it. Also our dresser for the nursery is getting delivered this afternoon!! I'm excited!
Picking up some paint swatches, looking at a dresser at a local vintage shop, going to an rv show just for fun, and finishing the last step on the built in cabinets DH, my grandpa, and dad built. Might try to squeeze in cutting in trim and crawling paint in DS' new room in prep for painting the walls.
Sounds like you gals have some fun plans. I am sitting at the lab doing my 3 hour glucose test. The Wi-Fi is slow here so it's slowing down my internet shopping and the bump!

Everyone seems to have some fun plans this weekend! H is working today. I've started laundry lol being a little lazy at the moment but I'll probably start packing. Still no news about the house even though I sent a text to the realtor and email to the loan officer...gotta pack regardless since we will either be moving into the house or an apartment if it doesn't go well. Yay...

No big plans here just going with the flow! Probably will go grocery shopping later. DD and I are currently relaxing on the couch. DH is off today, yay! So we'll probably get some major rearranging done in our room, and add the crib.
No big plans here either. I went on a long walk this morning (trying to enjoy the crazy nice weather before a cold front comes through). Otherwise, I'm just going to eat lunch, do some cleaning and laundry, try to line up movers for next month, and actively avoid a "soiree" my husband's coworker is throwing this evening. Who knows what I'll do tomorrow...
Working later today... but hopefully we have minimal cases so I can get some personal stuff done. We leave for L.A. Friday and I need to get laundry done & pack tomorrow since I rearranged my schedule for the trip and work M-Th, UGH!
Would love to be nesting like most of you.
@lrwardrop good luck with the 3 hour test. Roam the halls and stairs if they let you.
@lewaldrop good luck!! I take the 3 hour on Thursday .
We we had a lazy morning and now we're getting ready for a birthday party for one of DSs friends. Feeling super proud I have a gift ready and wrapped!!
@BabyMC517, I hope you hear back from the realtor soon! Waiting to hear if our offer was accepted last weekend was agonizing. I stared at my phone willing it to ring the whole day.

I'm visiting my sister in LA and today were going to go to UCLA to see the gymnastics team compete against Arizona, which is fun as my sister and I did gymnastics for years. Comedy club later tonight, and maybe a bike ride down the beach tomorrow. Only problem is I feel like I'm getting sick, my throat is scratchy and is worse than yesterday. On Wednesday before I left one of my clients came in with a scratchy threat and said she was exposed to steep, I'll be pretty pissed if that's what's going on.
We're going on our hospital tour this afternoon. I had an Apple appointment set up for this morning that I just rescheduled to Monday because I hadn't backed up our laptop and have some documents to scan that must be done today and I wouldn't have had time to do that and clean before the appointment. Plus I'm in the middle of Me Before You and I can't seem able to put the book down and the appointment would've cut into the little time I have to read today. You know, priorities.

MH is going on his annual Klondike trip, which is basically a camping trip in the freezing cold. So DS and I are going to lunch and to see a movie together. And then my mom and a few girlfriends are going to come over for dinner and a sappy movie. I love DH, but I also love when he's gone.
I'm bathing my tortoises now. DH is playing army this weekend so I'm being otherwise lazy. Grocery shopping today and picking up a gift for my friends sons birthday party tomorrow.
Seamstress worked miracles! Will go back in a month or so and re-fit! I actually want to be in the wedding now that it doesn't look terrible! My brother will be happy:)
@Jens_Hoes Ooh sounds like fun. Hopefully the scratchy throat thing is due to allergies and not strep from your inconsiderate client. Cali seasons - all the new blooms are blooming now.
Phew! Step 1 (hanging the nursery art), done. Next step is painting that dark bookshelf in the corner white. I also need to find a piece of wallpaper to stick along the back of the bookshelf on the inside. Any suggestions of stores that might sell single pieces like that?
@starphish18: Really pretty nursery!! My woodworking relatives would be shouting at you right now "don't you dare paint the wood!" but I don't feel that way, and probably would paint it lighter too.
Hardware stores sell contact paper---it's not really wallpaper per se but might do the trick. I've used it to line kitchen cabinet shelves (makes them easier to clean). You could check the DIY home improvement stores. Here's a random one I just found: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Duck-20-in-x-6-ft-Taupe-Damask-Shelf-Liner/50252815
And Michael's or Jo-Ann Fabrics would be other places to check out. I know Michael's has a ton of pretty papers (single sheets) available for art projects like scrap-booking.
We've got a pretty lazy weekend planned. Visiting the ILs out if town this afternoon, and then shopping for the baby tomorrow. We had a bunch of cold weather and snow hit yesterday so I have no desire to do much of anything.
@SKZW Thanks for the tips! My dad is a hardcore woodworker, too. Normally I don't paint wood, but this is a super cheap laminate bookshelf, so I don't feel bad about it.
@starphish18: For that type of shiny material, consider using a spray paint for application. Might adhere better. Or else a really good sanding first before brush/roller painting. But I'm sure you knew that!
@Jens_Hoes That's good. Fingers crossed for you, too.
@SKZW Yeah, I had looked up some techniques online. My plan was to do a primer with good adhesion, followed by paint. Although now, looking on Amazon, I'm realizing I can buy a white bookshelf for only $10 more than the supplies would cost me to refinish this one. So now I'm torn between going through the effort of painting this one or just getting a new one that's already white.
@starphish18 You could also use chalk paint with a wax coat. I've had great luck with that on laminate. For the back of the shelf, you could use fabric or some cool paper like the Rifle Paper Co.
Yeah, the ol' time versus money debate. If you have a second wind going and you're geared up to do it yourself, it'll definitely give you that sense of a "job well done" every time you look at it. But a $10 difference for a white bookshelf that you can still personalize with a paper background... that's a tough one!
@Kateriee I'm glad you included a picture, otherwise I would have wondered if you meant a real tortoise. Awesome.
@starphish18 Love your nursery! You might try a paint store for wall paper samples? Otherwise a craft store or Target might have one panel you can cut to size.
We went to brunch, then took a two hour nap (DH loves a nap). Not productive, but very relaxing so far! We both have a lot on our lists, though. DH needs to paint a bathroom and do homework (MBA). I need to put Valentine's decorations away, finish laundry, and grocery shop. We have family and friends coming this week for our shower next weekend. I need to find something to wear!
Also, question: How big do swaddles need to be? DH got it in his head they need to be 40"x40" and all of our other (non square) blankets will not suffice. I'm of the opinion that most of them will still work. Thoughts? (Obviously I don't mind an excuse to buy new blankets, just wondering if the size of a blanket for swaddling is that important.)

Sure you won't need your furniture anchored the moment the baby is born, but it's nice to already have that done.
