GTKY: Oh geez don't crucify me. We go by a magic system called "We make enough, we can make it work." I mean, we save up for big things (like our wedding) by putting x in the savings each month. We keep track of how much our bills are and when they're due. But other than that? We kinda just fudge it and figure it out.

We work on a semi-budget. We put money into our 401ks, a short-term savings account and stocks every single month before anything else. We have about 6 months worth of living expenses saved up, with the goal of having 1 years worth in the next year. We also max out our IRAs every year. We do take out of our ST-savings sometimes for house stuff, but thats the purpose of it. We make a $1600 payment each month to my student loans (BAHAHAHA and it barely makes a dent). On the first of the month we make our mortgage payment, electric, water and cars. After that, any money left over we don't budget (which is why its a semi-budget). We buy what we want, when we want- within reason. Some months we end up with quite a bit of money left over in our checking account, some months we over-spend because of vacations or dates or whatever, but overall it evens out. We are very lucky to do well financially and have minimal monetary stress, but we try to make smart decisions in case anything ever happened.WAYDTGKU: HIO, OPKS, Acupuncture

R/R: My rant today is about my MIL. I can't. Every time she talks to my husband anymore she mentions daycare. We have NO OTHER CHOICE. Just stop. It's none of your business what we do with our child while we work. NONE. Any other day I'm ok with it. Do I wish I could be a SAHM? Of course, but it just wouldn't work for us. So instead I go to work knowing I can build a savings account for all of us and I make myself feel better that way. I got upset last night that once again he told me she brought it up, but I'm overreacting apparently. So I hate my husband today too

i move money into savings randomly. Right now we're saving for a house. So most of my bonus went, our tax refund will go into savings but we don't have a monthly budget. We aren't necessarily living paycheck to paycheck, but I also don't just go and spend whatever I want.
If we have some extra money left right before we get another paycheck I'll move some into our savings and some into our son's account.
That sounds crappy written out but it works. We have a savings account!

CS/Q: Nope
GTKY: I might come back and add more later but for now, yes we budget. I run the finances and I put together a budget based on a reliable income level. I'm salaried but H isn't. It's more detailed than most with categories for car repairs, insurance, house maintenance, etc. I use an envelope-style budgeting app called "Goodbudget." When H bought his house in 2007, they talked him into an 80/20 loan where 20% is at a higher interest rate. 8.7% for 20% of a house!!! So that has been our focus for the last few years. We finally got that paid off so the new focus is killing my student loans (his are already paid off). So pretty much all of my profit share, bonuses, tax returns, and pay he makes in a month above the budget goes to that. We should be done in about 6 months. Then we can save up to remodel our super dated house!

We sort of budget. We have a budget, but I'm too much of a procrastinator to actually track it through out the month. We used to go over the budget all the time so I looked over the past months to see what was going on. Turned out that we were going way over on our personal spending. Now we each get a cash allowance for the month. This helps a lot since most of the other bills are consistent (mortgage, student loan, car loan, etc). Right now we're trying to pay off DH's car loan. We should be able to pay it off in the next couple months which would be a little under 2 years early!

We put together a budget every year and are generally good about sticking to it. slight problem was we were getting a little bit of money from DH's grandmothers estate, it was not supposed to be factored into the budget but it did so we spent more than we ment to last year, which was fine because we had the money, we just don't have that extra this year so we have to cut back. Plus it means if we end up with #3 DH will have to become a SAHD and a minivan (I'm with you @heatherdubrow my heart dies a little, though I am oddly excited about the extra room).

like many and we don't have a specific budget. We have a joint account and each have individual accounts. the majority of our income goes in to the joint account and we use it to pay monthly bills, dates, etc. We each have an individual accounts that we use personal spending (lunches out, gifts for each other etc.) In general we typically buy what we need and anything out of the ordinary we discuss. Right now, saving in general and saving for, hopefully, a baby at some point.

I LOVE finances! We don't have a strict spending budget monthly, but we have preset savings, 401k, IRA and emergency savings amounts. We also evaluate individual purchases to make sure they align with our values and are a reasonable price.
We just hit our goal of 6 months of expenses in emergency savings, so working toward 1 year. Our other goals are to pay our mortgage off in 15 years (have a 20 year mortgage), have an option of retiring at 55 and starting a 529 at some point.

I am a budgeting queen. I actually do a weekly budget and I have a an outline budget for every week through the end of 2017 already drawn up. We aren't saving for anything in particular right now, but we do have some big ticket items that we need to pay off within the financing limits. Also, we spent 18 months saving every penny for our wedding so we didn't put much money into long term savings during that time, so we are also focusing on building that up. I just like knowing exactly how much I need to put towards bills, gas, groceries each week and seeing how much I can use for "pleasure" money.

We use to do a monthly budget. We don't really do one anymore since our monthly costs are pretty much the same every month. Retirement, bills, mortgage, DD college fund etc. We also have 4 months of living expense in savings and I would love more but student loans. We try to put as much money left over at the end of the month towards our school loans so we can get those paid off faster.

We're on a tight budget right now because I'm only working two nights a week so that I can stay home with DD the rest of the week. We also just bought a house and moved out of state a year and a half ago so we're still adjusting to all of the financial obligations associated with that. I just write all the bills on a huge calendar and figure it out that way. We have a decent amount in savings that we don't touch, we both have 401k, DH has a pension, and I have an IRA from my previous job. I have a life insurance policy for DD that I put money into each month and is basically her savings for college. We're focusing on paying off our debt right now (credit cards we charged moving expenses on, car loan, student loans) so any extra we have is going towards that. What makes it super frustrating is that DH only gets paid once a month!

I also keep envelopes that I put a little money into here and there for other designated things we're saving for like new appliances and furniture.
@kiwi2628 It's really wonderful you and your DH are able to not stress about money, looks like that $1600/month paid off
@50wife I hate that. There is no right or wrong decision with being a SAHM or a working mom. They are both great choices and different things work for different people. It doesn't mean you love your children any more or less, it means you are making the decision that is right for your family. I've always said I don't want to be a SAHM because I don't think I'm patient enough and my child would deserve better than that and I think that's a great thing for me to know! Though who knows, I might want to stop working once I actually have a child and that would be great too if we could afford it! Don't feel down about it, even if your MIL is being annoying. Maybe she should live near you guys and take care of him if she hates daycare so much!

Like I wasn't scared, just sort of alarmed and waiting for someone to tell me I was pregnant. I CANT DEAL WITH DREAMS LIKE THIS, BODY, STOP!

GTKY: Let's talk finances. Do you work on a monthly budget, use a program to track finances? Are you saving up for something special right now? Feel free to share as much or as little as you want.
DH uses Mint to track, though I think he's a bit generous with our budget levels. I'm the one who is mostly crazy about the bank account. Our bank allows you to split up your savings into up to 25 different savings accounts which really helps us visually. We have a baby account, a house down payment account, a moving to England account, and a general savings account as well as our checking. Our baby account is pretty much set, but we add here and there if we have extra just in case/to have additional money for daycare (if I want to/have to keep working). We'll be adding a new savings account soon for a new car (DH wants to pay it all upfront instead of monthly payments so that's a bit trickier). We've got some stocks and things that DH takes care of and each have our 401ks. DH also has some money form grandparents but we don't even think about it because we've assigned that to a house down payment. Other than that if one of us really wants something (within reason) we will get it.
@kiwi2628 Yay for a +OPK!
@50Wife Sorry about your MIL. There's no way that if/when our time comes we will be able to afford to have one of us stay home. I hope no one pesters us about it.
@Kiki75 Wait, she wants to travel with her ex-husband?
@KariAnn323 I once got 9 days of flashing smilies in a row. The medical assistant told me to use digital OPKs (I hadn't been previously) because they were more reliable, then that happens and she told me they weren't reliable with PCOS and to use non-digital. I was so mad.
@morado23 Sorry about the performance issues.
@Avrilmai Happy birthday! And your budgeting sounds pretty much 100% like what we do.
@dragonfly87 That sounds like an awesome experience! Have fun today!
@SoldiersMom I read all the 50 Shades books in 2012 but haven't seen either movie!
@mispanda I'm glad you got the green light!
@Sailing_Mama Bummer about the phone situation.
@shortstack930 I love a girls night, especially with my mom
@beachbunnyxo123 I hope time flies to March 13th for you!
@FLAshley Have fun today! I've never been snowshoeing, but I've heard it's a great workout!
@kaitlink33 Ugh, I'm sorry about the scheduling nightmares.
@DuchessOfCambridge I'm glad you were successful despite the issues (I didn't know how to word that! ha).

We don't have much of a system. We have a joint account where most money goes but we still have our own accounts too. I'll make small purchases for myself from my own account, but anything big/abnormal we talk about. Although I started moving money to savings this month just in case for possible future RE expenses. (DH prefers to just have 'cushion' in our normal checking account that grows each month, but I really want to see the money add up in a savings account.)

@MJDsquared Yum to the girl scout cookie fix! I totally need to buy some. I'm craving some Thins Mints.
@kaitlink33 sorry to hear about your RE putting you through the hoops! but I'm glad you got it all worked out and you're still in this cycle.
@FLAshley Wow I hadn't really thought about all the expenses that could come from owning a home. We should probably start saving up some money to account for all those unexpected costs, like buying a lawnmower, new furniture, etc.
@stargazer>lilly That was me last month... I thought I was going into TWW and AF started

R/R: Rave - I can not wait for the weekend! I'm getting drinks with some girls from my gym and then just relaxing... after a crazy busy weekend last weekend and feeling stressed out over the house buying, I'm seriously in need of a good girl's night and a relaxing weekend!

We sort of budget. We have a joint account, and personal accounts. I keep track of how money is spent from my account and the joint accounts. My husband doesn't do anything with his account. We are trying not to overspend as we are closing on our house (FX) next month. I do use an online program to keep track of mine & the joint accounts. I have a Roth IRA and 401k, but my husband doesn't as he is self employed, so that's something we need to look into. That's pretty much it.
@DuchessOfCambridge I use Mint too! I love how you can create a bunch of categories and sift through oodles of data. It's also nice to see balances of all our accounts (credit card, 401K, mortgage etc)
@kaitlink33 That's so obnoxious. I don't understand how they don't take those kinds of things into consideration. People obviously have to work.
@FLAshley It's crazy how quickly it all add up. We have some big repairs that need to be done but we can only do so much at once
@stargazer>lily I just got my PS4 a few months ago - I love it!
@heatherdubrow We're all anxiously awaiting an update! Hope all goes smooth
@SoldiersMom I do all of our budgeting but I'm not quite that organized. Nice job on the weekly effort!
@dragonfly87 Congrats on hitting the 6 month mark. That's really impressive

@SoldiersMom Have fun at the concert, I love Miranda Lambert!
@kaitlink33 I'm sorry you're having issues with doctor's appointments.
@DuchessOfCambridge *Hugs* I swear TTC HIO is the worst. It's fun for the like the first month, and then it turns super forced. *TMI* I've started sending DH dirty text messages on the days we need to HIO. It helps
