@TRobinetteter Catherine is our top pick for the moment of those little one is a girl (nickname of Cate or Laine - based on her middle name). I am guessing you love the name too
@abmommy15 Thanks for the suggestion! I wonder if the pronunciation would be obvious though? When I see it spelled out - I think Lee-Lah. Will see what hubby thinks!
@dcwtada - Is it trendy? I wasn't going for trendy boo Hmmm....will need to look up the stats. (Oh and I actually had to google the song!)
@BKinney0506 yes for sure! The only people I would worry about are my parents... I do like Lilah as a nickname - especially since pronunciation wouldn't be an issue.
Take trendy with a grain of salt, popularity and volume have not stayed hand in hand. A number one name now wouldn't break the top ten even 20 years ago as far as volume, and that's not even controlling for increases in population - add to that, why Delilah is trendy it's not a top name by any stretch so I don't think you'll run into many little delilahs anytime soon.
@greenbean I love the K spelling too, we are going the C spelling since we have a cousins Kathleen and another cousin with Katherine as a middle name - just differentiating a bit. I love the name more and more, I will be a little sad if I can't use it!
I'm on mobile so that pic is probably HUGE, so my apologies... But a friend of mine sent this to me the other day when we were talking about names. I really like being able to hear/say the names in different contexts. DH and I had our names picked out right away, but now that we're actually closer to finding out the sex, I'm second guessing everything we have. He loves what we have now, but is open to some suggestions, I'm just getting all hung up on meaning. And imagining our child as an adult with those names.
Sooooo, a few names I had picked out for possible eitherFN or MN, turns out DH have late family with these names. On my DH side. I never met them, and it wouldn't be naming our baby after them by any means. I don't know what these people were like at all?! For example, Grace was a possible FN or MN but it's the name of my FIL's late grandmother. So, DD would have the same first and last name as this person?! I feel weird about this!!! Also, nobody told me this....I ALWAYS google search first and last name combo possibilities(I'm weird), and found it in an obituary/history tree page. I think I do it to make sure no weird porn person has the name or some horrible person in history! Ha!
Am i being too hyper about this? I would MN Grace now because I wouldn't want the same first and last. Kinda bummed now. Also, we don't share names because of backlash of choices.
I call DD by her first and middle name constantly. It needs to flow for me.
Me too.
Daily...probably a dozen times a day. It's become ineffective and she's always curious who the second girl could be. Lol
@LoveLee85 I think it's great that you have put a lot of thought into your name choices, but if no one has mentioned these people to you I'm doubting anyone will even think you are naming them after said person. I would say you're ok to use the name if you like it.

They only don't mention them because they don't know our name choices....so they have NO IDEA I want to use these names. Lol.
ETa: they talk about them as far as 'my grandmother' 'my grandfather' but not formal names, when talking about their younger years.
@LoveLee85 +1 on google searches for unfortunate namesakes - let's just make sure it isn't the name of a stripper, axe-murderer etc. lol! I don't think it's weird at.all.
I love the name Grace! (It is a middle name contender for us too.) As for the dilemma - I do think having the first and last name would look like you were naming her after your husband's relative - but I think as long as you are okay with that being pointed out, then it should be fine.
@LoveLee85 same here, the name checking part. I have managed to find a name that both sides of our family don't have but my mum is being super controlling about that, there is no way I'm backing out though since it's the only name iv always wanted to keep for my child. It shouldn't be a problem even if the names match up, as long as the person wasn't too notorious, Also did you get my PM? (Iv asked this before)
@LoveLee85 Gotcha! We are the same in that we don't use formal names when discussing grandparents and great grandparents.
@BusyZee Please don't let anyone sway your name choice. This is your child and everyone will love your lo no matter what their name is. Your mom had her chance to name her kids, she should let you do the same.
We don't usually tell anyone names because we don't care what their thoughts are (kinda), we don't want a bunch of gifts with the name on it in case we change our mind, and I need to see the baby first.

I'm not sure how I feel about it?! lol I'm not a big 'naming a baby after someone' person. Not when the first AND last name will be exactly the same. Middle name, fine. I'm not sure how to ask my inlaws about it?! What if I get their hopes up and change my mind? What if I don't like their answers, then offend them if that's why I don't pick the name?! Ugh. I don't need to give them a reason to be upset.
@LoveLee85 I hear you, you sound kind of frustrated in your post (correct me if im wrong) but you really shouldn't worry about hurting people, but definitely be cautious because you can't control what they say to you.
@alcrimmins thankyou I'm just getting so upset because I'm used to everyone appreciating my choices and now all of sudden no ones excited about my name choice. I know I'm being stupid but still it hurts. im definitely keeping my name but my mum is going as far as saying I won't come. I was like don't come. So controlling and I am sick of being treated like a baby. She's obviously going to come but still what a stupid threat. Sorry rant over but I'm so pissssssed.
I feel like Scarlett is going to be very popular again soon, since it's (to me) right up there with Charlotte and Penelope, which have gained traction lately. Darby is super cute. I'm pretty sure that the girl on the new Winnie the Pooh show is named Darby. Both are very nice. As a teacher, I always think about spellable, pronounceable and uncommon, and both meet that right now. Personally, I really like Darby, too.
Just found out today we are having a boy so checking out this thread for ideas. Why is it that I find boys names so much harder to pick than girls names?!?! After a very quick google search today we like Elijah, Gabriel and Jackson. I find this so difficult! Haha, FTM here.
We finally find out what we are having on March 1, hopefully and if baby is a girl we will be naming her Brynn Ashley and if it's a boy they will be Brennan John. John was my grandpa's name and also my Husband's grandpa's name and Ashley is a name that my grandma loved so much and always wished that she would've chosen. We have two boys now, their names are Bryce Ryan and Brody Michael.
So my husband and I were set on girl names, but found out we're having a boy! We've narrowed it down to three names. I can't decide at all so I'm hoping to get some feedback. Our daughters name is Victoria. Boy names so far are:
Donovan John Michael (Don or DJ for short) Tobias John Michael (Toby or TJ for short) Leonardo John Michael (Leo for short)
The middle names are aftee my grandfather and my husband's father, so those are the only names we're sure about.
We're open to suggestions for first names! I haven't found any boy names I LOVE yet
So we have three front runners right now for our little girl:
1. Charlie (not Charlotte, just Charlie). This was my maternal grandpa's name 2. Lenora (nn Lenny). Elenora is a family name, but I prefer Lenora. 3. Ophelia. Honestly this is probably #1 right now - but people either love or hate it. There is no in between. We got it from the movie Savages.
@Rae1 Love your name choices! I love Charlie for a girl and am super partial to family names! But it's a close tie with Lenora. That was a character in one of my favorite books and I love it! Ophelia is just not my style, but I also like unique names so I don't hate it I think you have solid choices!! Good luck!
@Rae1 you don't even need a nickname for Ophelia! I love it. But hate that people assume all names have nicknames I'm partial AGAINST Lenora only because my middle name is Lenore and I've always hated it...clearly my own hang ups!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

@satsumasandlemons @mj8215 I haven't heard the name Dahlia in a long time - very pretty!

It's cute; just wasn't sure if you'd thought about the combo. Theodore was our top boy name too.

3. Ophelia. Honestly this is probably #1 right now - but people either love or hate it. There is no in between. We got it from the movie Savages.
@Rae1 - Loooooove Ophelia. Is there a nickname for that though? Also love Charlie for a girl.

@lulilaev I love all three! It's so hard. Charlie is super popular for girls right now, which brings it down a few notches in my book.
