Had my weekly appointment - everything seems to be looking good. Baby is still breech but my doctor told me to do the cat/cow yoga poses to try and get him to flip when I feel him moving. My blood pressure has evened out so they will probably not have to induce after all! They also realized that they never did the blood glucose test on me, so that had me in there for an unexpected extra hour today... good thing my only plans for the day were to go out to V-Day dinner with the hubby that evening. I haven't done one of those tests in at least ten years, so asked my doctor if it was okay to use the bathroom while I waited for them to call me back and she said yes. I was trying to hold off but finally ran to the restroom... and naturally heard them call my name outside in the waiting room a minute later. Luckily my doctor was smart enough to figure out where I was and came to get me.
Growth ultrasound went about as well as I expected. I'm 35w6d and she's measuring 7 lbs 6 oz. (so I'm guessing I'm gonna have a 9 lb baby!), other than her weight everything else was perfect. I know the weight could be wrong, so I'm not terribly worried about it, unless my dr says I should be. My GD readings have been ok the last week, so I really don't think it's because of GD. I also got a couple cute face shots of my chubby girl!
NST: as usual baby girl was perfect, but this momma had high BP - first reading 134/92, second reading 127/87, third reading 124/80. They let me go, but doctor (not my OB) said that if I continue to have high BP that I may deliver at 37 weeks....THAT'S NEXT WEEK! Ummm....no that can't happen. I'm not ready. So now my BP is probably high again because of him telling me that....We'll see what my OB says on Thursday.
I'm with you on the high bp today @mecoats. First reading was 147/94... way higher than it's been. Did a retake while I was lying on my side, and it went down to 130/70something.
US showed low fluid today, which earned me another appointment and US on Friday. She said if it continues to be low, we may be inducing at 38 weeks instead of 39 weeks (along with my BP being high).. which is the end of next week. Aghhhh! Now I'm just stressed even more.
@mecoats -- that first number isn't awesome, but they also shouldn't be reccomending induction because the first number they took when you just arrived was slightly high. I wouldn't be too worried about it - unless you're constantly reading above the 140/90 most doctors won't care.
Thanks @kjd291 - that's reassuring. I haven't been over 140/90....but in the 130s/80s-90s. I would love to make it to 39 weeks...so I'll see what my OB says on Thursday. He hasn't been too worried the last couple of times, so I think the ATU doctor was just overly cautious.
@CanadianintheSouth - hopefully your levels won't go down anymore. And, let's hope both of our BPs go down. I'm with you on not being ready! My crib is still in pieces...
Just home from my growth ultrasound ordered because I was measuring as my midwife said: "really strangely HUGE".
As I expected, should have stuck to my guns and just not had one. Baby is perfectly on track by this ultrasounds measurements. Currently I'm 39wks 2days::baby measured 38wks5days -7lb 14oz / 56th percentile. And perfect amount of fluid.
So--externally measuring 42wks, internally showing 38. I wish all medical professionals would just trust our bodies and our babies and stop it with the extra anxieties and extra appointments.
I DID get to confirm girl parts... so I can stop obsessing that there is actually a little boy in there.
Had my 37 week appointment yesterday- had the awesome GBS test and cervical check....not dilated yet. Also OB confirmed she's head down and highly unlikely to flip again so that is good! Still measuring on track and blood pressure fine....will go back next week and see if anything changes!
Had an appt today too! 34w2d but this one was mostly just to follow up on bp. Since it was still below the 150/90 mark I got cleared to travel to my out of town baby shower and come back in 2 weeks to start getting ready for the big show!
Monday had perinatal appointment...BP was good (124/76), they were pleased with my blood sugar levels from the past week, and baby was measuring 7 lb 9 oz, so on track of gaining the 1/2 lb a week, even though he's measuring a week ahead of where I am (37w tomorrow).
We see the OB Thursday so I'll report back with how that appointment goes

Had my Tuesday appointment and while my BP is up (160/102), despite meds, I still only have minimal protein and my labs look good!! My dr actually said "you might actually get to 37 weeks, but I don't know how"! Lol it was the best! Also baby girl is measuring 6lbs and 54th percentile! Happy dance knowing she is continuing to grow! Also, I finally have enough amniotic fluid that they could take a good picture of her little face...and she's adorable!
Still going 2x a week. Had a US yesterday. Still a giant baby measuring 4 weeks ahead. I'm 33 weeks 5 days but he's measuring almost 38. But I'm measuring at 33 weeks. So confusing all the measurements and none of them match up. Fluid levels are good. Baby is head down and has been for at least the past 2 weeks. Sugar levels have been good but that doesn't seem to be slowing down his "excessive fetal growth." MFM on Thursday where I'm sure they're going to tell me how big he is AGAIN and double and triple check sugar levels and initial 6 week US for any mistake on EDD. @kjd291 I'm with you. Let my baby be big cause he's big!!!
@Lexxilou1986 yay!! So so glad to hear despite the BP everything is looking good and baby can cook longer!
@jrde50eb12 sorry you're getting put through it all because of a big kid! Hopefully they can just bump around your EDD or something to make the medical minds leave you and your kiddo alone
@CanadianintheSouth I also have low fluid. Last week it was 9.2, this week it was 9.1. I drank a ridiculous amount of water over the week but it did not raise my levels. I have a NST next week and an ultrasound the following week. From what I've read they don't start talking induction unless you get down to 5.
@jazzyma14 they didn't tell me levels but I will ask Friday! Sucks to hear drinking more water doesn't necessarily help. I think it's low fluid on top of high blood pressure (the original reason for my 39 week induction) that would have them induce even earlier. I really want to make it until March 2nd though, so I plan to rest up and hope my bp stays down.
Had midwife appointment this morning. Turns out baby definitely dropped after I fell walking down the sidewalk last night. She said that baby could come at any point now, and even asked if I wanted a dr cert to start maternity leave earlier. I'm self employed so I just stop when I want, but now I'm worried thinking "should I stop seeing clients now?!" She also said to expect an 8lb baby if I make it to full term. Agh things are getting so close!!
I had my 38 week appointment today. I'm only about 2cm dilated and 50% effaced sooo there's that. She brought up a potential induction because my blood pressure is slowly climbing, but she's on board tabling that until/if it becomes absolutely medically necessary. Here's to hoping baby makes his debut in the next two weeks on his own and doesn't play too much with my bp.

As you know being "only 2 cm" doesn't mean much. Heck, baby could make their debut tonight for all you know! Try not to get discouraged
Thank you @longliveregina !! I know the drill, theoretically. The day that I went into labor with DD, I was not dilated at all so I'm not putting too much stock into the dilation/effacement either way. Mostly just hoping he comes soon to avoid any bp pressured induction at this point. I don't think I realized until today that I'm actually kind of afraid of one for whatever reason. Maybe just the unknown?
@hippiemama I'm with you, bp is determining induction schedule. The way I am trying to think about it, is that since I'm starting to dilate/efface/baby has dropped, at least I know that my body is starting to get ready for labour, ya know? So an induction will just be like a nudge in the right direction. (not to discourage those who are induced without any signs of labour, which can also go super smoothly... this is just how I am wrapping my head around it!)
@hippiemama It's so funny how we are so nervous about the unknown! I was induced with my last and was hoping to go into labor naturally this time, but was also terrified lol. Unfortunately, I'm being induced at 37weeks but also a little relieved since I know what to expect! It was very smooth last time...it took about 26 hours from when we started until he was born and I was completely closed and 34 weeks. Hopefully that will help ease your mind
quick readers digest version of my story for those who don't know: I have a heart condition. Baby measuring small. Heart meds possibly to blame. Put me on half dose of heart meds to help baby catch up.
So now my update: my resting heart rate in the doctors office this morning was 146 (anything above 100 is tachycardia) so the doc isn't thrilled about that. Externally, I am still measuring "small". They had originally discussed trying to take me off all heart meds if baby wasn't catching up, but being that my heart is responding so poorly to half heart meds they are discussing possible induction instead... so T&Ps are appreciated that this LO will grow and show up well in her growth US on Monday!!!
@JustAnotherUsername16 I hope all goes well on Monday and you just have a sneaky baby that's good at hiding and looking small! From your quick synopsis your drs sound reasonable so I'm sure they will do what they ultimately feel is best for both you and baby. I hope that conveniently means more cook time!
I had my 34w1d appt yesterday. Everything was fine. Told her about the contractions I'd been having that probably came from me just doing to much. She told me to try the 2/2 rule. Drink 2 hrs of water and lay down for 2 hours. They are at the bottom of my belly where the head is and they aren't consistent so she says I should be fine.
@JustAnotherUsername16 I'm so sorry your HR is up! I know it must be scary to be worried about that plus baby potentially being small. I'll be praying for you! How is your HR at home after lounging for awhile? Could bedrest help or does it stay elevated? Thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed that baby is huge in there!!
Awww shucks y'all are just the kindest humans. I appreciate your prayers. This morning my blood pressure decided to join my heart rate in its elevated party so my doc sent me to triage at the hospital and I just got admitted. They're gonna run some tests but I'm sure it's nothing. I'm hoping they'll measure baby and play the balance game between my blood pressure and baby's growth to get the right dose of these heart meds to keep baby in there and growing for a few more weeks! I really appreciate y'all thinking about me and my LO!
Had my appointment with the OB this morning...blood pressure looked good, I think I'm down 3 lbs (i blame the GD), NST went well, he didn't check my cervix this time but a couple of very mild contractions showed up on the NST. He said we'd check it next week. Also next week, he said we were going to discuss possibly inducing...between the hypertension and the GD he doesn't want me going much longer, so sometime between 39 and 40 weeks we'll probably induce...eek! This weekend will be spent tying up loose ends...we need to get our car seat inspected, take some stuff back to stores, finish washing baby stuff...ack!
