@C25 I think it's definitely a thing. My 3yo is absolutely crazy the past little while. We're also moving and ripping her out of the only home she's ever known, that plus all the talk about bringing our baby home. I was just telling my SO that we have to remember that as stressed as we are, she's feeling the stress too, it affects her just as much as it affects us if not more. She said to me the other day "Why do we need a new baby? I was a baby before, we don't need another one." ... My heart. Ohhh my heart. But she's definitely been acting out and just a little different.
I have a random question for the masses: ive always wondered if baby is born anywhere but the hospital or in an emergent situation like @DrillSergeantCat (still in amazement!) how long can baby breathe without sucking the gunk out of their airway?? I would be so worried that baby couldn't take the big first breath and scream...but obviously they haven't always had the bulb syringe to clean them out throughout history someone with more knowledge help me out here!
@jenny0228 they just hook a couple of monitors on your belly and you sit in a recliner/bed. mine take 20-40 min. it's a nice little break unless you have to find someone to watch your kids for it lol.

My son didn't need gunk sucked out of his airway at all. Going through the birth canal squeezes it all out. He went straight from vagina to chest and stayed there for an hour lol.

Same ^^ no issues for me. I would guess if you're naturally delivering your babe so super fast that you don't make it to the hospital, it would mean you're most likely complication free and baby will get proper squeeze and be good to go with st most a quick wipe of the face =] ((non-medical professional opinion of course
@C25 Agreed with PP.. I think I wrote on the birth preference sheet that I didn't want suction unless necessary. My son actually had the cord wrapped around and they still didn't do it..? They didn't tell me that until the following night but maybe it was at the midwife's discretion that he was fine?
.... Also, can I just say I am so happy that this is such a drama free board. I was involved early on the March 2015 board with my son and once I told family that I was pregnant and had others to talk to about it, I pretty much jumped ship there because people were so mean and rude to each other. Yay for March 2017!
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 1 Samuel 1:27 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I saw the doctor today, he looks at my chart and goes, " Your due date's coming soon." in a surprised voice. It took a lot for me not to say, " Naw, Really?"
No full-moon baby here. Hoping this kid stays in through the next few days of epic snow though. I don't want to deal with a storm ontop of everything else that comes with the stress of getting to the hospital during labor.
@longliveregina hahah. Seriously!! if I didn't have a LO at home, and was a tad farther along, I'd definitely consider it! Luckly our cars have 4wheel drive so if god forbid ifs baby time, we *should* be able to survive
Eeeeek- FX your LO stays put @kjd291! How far away is the hospital if in the event she wants to come this weekend?
Lol I'd get a hotel room near the hospital just in case if it's far!
SERIOUSLY. That'd be money well spent in my book just for piece of mind!
Would they make you pay damages if your water broke everywhere???
I don't know why they would. I threw up all over a hotel room once (sick, not drunk) and left a good top for the housekeepers but dudnt get charged or anything.
@datalover13 That's a million dollar question right there! You would hope they would let it slide because ya know, birthing a kid and all but I would guess waters breaking would fall under the "incidental" umbrella. Lame. To me cleaning up puke would be more disgusting than cleaning up AF lol
@kjd291Damn, that's a solid drive ahead of you. Thank goodness you have 4WD! I'll be sending you good vibes that she'll want to stay cozy on the inside for a few more days!
Im not sure if this would help at all, but there's an app called Plowz & Mowz that lets you request somebody to come to your house and plow your driveway. The length of your driveway will determine the cost. I used this service once and a guy was at our house within an hour. I know this won't do much for the actual commute to the hospital but god forbid you're getting hammered with snow and don't have time to snowblow/shovel it may help. Just wanted to pass this along

@kjd291 hope your baby cooks a little longer so you don't have to worry about dealing with the snowstorm!
Going into labor during 20"+ of snow is one of my biggest nightmares, I hope none of us have to go through anything like that!
I went all this time being able to wear my wedding/engagement rings up til today. I noticed yesterday my fingers had gotten more swollen and then this morning they were even MORE swollen and I really struggled getting them off but I eventually did. It feels so weird not having my rings on & I'm bummed I don't think I'll be able to wear them for our maternity photos this coming week. I'm debating trying to force them back on & then using some tricks I just read about online to take them off again after we do our pictures...I just feel naked without my rings.
I was just reading all these natural birth stories on birth without fear. All I can say is that the female body is amazing! I am so in awe of all of you who have/want to have a natural birth! I'm a give me all the drugs/epidural kind of girl but have so much respect for those of you who can power through and let your body do its thing!
So I keep smelling vomit all day My husband insists I don't smell like vomit. Why am i smelling vomit??? I feel like the smell is on my hand or in my hair but when I try to pinpint it it is magically gone.
Also, this: (sorry about the large screenshot) I'm only 35 weeks!
So today was my baby shower at my SIL's house. It was amazing- something out of a Pinterest dream. I was opening gifts, and suddenly there was a huge thud thud thud down the stairs. My friend with a three month old had slipped and fallen, her daughter fell out of her arms and landed on the carpeted stairs then a hard floor. The sound was terrifying. Everyone froze, there were many kids from ages 5-13 at the shower, I think everyone assumed at first it was one of the kids fooling around. Then my I saw my MIL's face who was the only one seated in a position to see what happened. 5 aunts at the shower are nurses, one a pediatric nurse. They all were out of their seats in seconds, with the mom and baby. Baby was crying, a good sign they said. They went to the hospital and are being monitored. We are waiting to hear news. It was all my worst fears about being a parent. I know accidents happen- but it shook me to the core. All monitoring seems ok so far. Hoping for an all clear.
My 2yo had a moderate fever all day today around 102, so I dosed her with advil before bed tonight. She woke up screaming 2 hours later and burning up and delirious. 104 in the armpit, which means at least 105 in the mouth. Gave Tylenol but it wasn't working fast enough. Paged the Pediatrician on call but wasn't called back for 30 min! I went into a panic getting dressed to take her to the ER. DH wanted to wait it out, for fear I'd go into labor either in the children's hospital or at home without him if he took her in. Anyway between our arguing, her fever started to drop and the pedi called back. It's around 100 now and we plan to keep alternating Tylenol and Advil per pedi orders and go to urgent Care first thing in the morning. I'm sure it's an ear infection. But man, we've never had temps that high before.
What are we going to do with 3?! Fevers scare the crap out of me. I'm obviously not going to sleep tonight. Plan to lay on her floor touching her head every few minutes.
@jenny0228 I hope your friends baby is ok! Very scary!
@Cbeanz fevers can be scary! Sometimes if DS gets a fever like that we put him in a warm bath (not cold or hot) to bring temp down temporarily while we wait for meds to kick in or call back from dr.
Thanks so much for the thoughts ladies - baby was monitored until midnight then discharged. She seems to be fine. So thankful that is the case, it was quite a scare.
@Cbeanz I hope the fever is under control this morning and the visit with urgent care is quick so you can all get home and rest!
@Cbeanz thats a scary situation. My DD was running a fever last week, but it never went past 102.5 and it STILL made me nervous. It's tough seeing your LO so upset! I haven't tried this one yet - but does anyone know if cool baths work in a pinch like that? To get a fever down a little quicker?
@jenny0228 That is one of my leading fears. I actually have to bite my tongue to not watlrn my husband to be careful on the stairs. We've each fallen on (not down) the stairs once while holding my son in his clubfoot brace. So terrifying!
@Cbeanz Hope your appt this morning have you answers. Fast fevers like that have ear infection written all over them. (tepid baths also work to cool babes off quickly ❤)
@kjd291 I am also in the 24+ zone, and I jokingly told my boss today that I really hope I don't go into labor tonight or tomorrow (I have 5 weeks to my due date so I am most likely safe on that front. Lol) I am hopeful that baby stays put for you! Where I am, they have already said that they may haul DOT off the roads if it is too bad, because the winds and snow are supposed to be so bad that it just won't be safe to even have the plow trucks out.

Oh my gosh!! they better keep those trucks out to clear my path if I have to head to L&D! Hahaha!
Update: after spending the entire day at urgent care, baby was diagnosed with a random virus. Annoying, as there's no treatment. I also have trouble believing that a 104+ fever spike (with no other symptoms) is due to a cold. I'm finding I have less and less trust in our medical system, but that rant is for another day. Thanks for all the caring and support!
