Febubabies popping out everywhere. Getting excited as our turns approach!! I'm obviously excited to have my little one soon, but I'm SO excited to see all of yours!! Crazy that some of us have been on this journey together for 8months now!!
@jenny0228 oh thank god it was a joke! i was so concerned that a) there was an actual demand for this and b) people you work with thought it was a good idea!
@jenny0228 That's hilarious! Years ago at my cousin's shower, someone bought her a packet of condoms. It was the meanest thing ever, especially considering that her and her husband had been trying hard for a few years. It was incredibly insensitive. She took in stride but it really wasn't funny and the person who gave them to her thought it was the most hilarious thing in the world.
AHHHHH your cousin is a strong woman. This is just reason #3million to me to buy off registries for people. If that person didn't know about the difficulties conceiving and found out about it later I'm sure they felt awful (and if they did know, they're just awful people).
I live in a dense suburb next to a big city, we have a dog under 10lbs (she's eagle bait sized, as my hunter relatives say) and the local wild bunnies disappeared and now we've seen a fox in our neighborhood multiple nights now and just saw in the news a bobcat's been sighted regularly a few neighborhoods over. Our back yard is fenced and we always watch our dog when she's outside, but it's making me super nervous. Never had to deal with anything like this before... don't know what to do, if she'll be fine or if we need to take some precautions or what.

That would make me nervous too! I would say as long as you watch your dog when he is outside you will be fine, but foxes are sneaky so don't leave the dog unattended. Can you call animal control or another applicable government agency for removal?
I can't sit for more than an hour in my desk chair at work without back pain becoming almost unbearable. I've made a makeshift standing desk from an empty printer paper box and pointing my monitors up. So much fun. 2.5 more weeks in the office.

Talk to me about back labor, ladies. The last 24 hours I've been having some really fun, sporadic pain/cramping in my lower back and I can't help but wonder if its early stages of that. ...?
@hippiemama I had horrendous back labor during transition with my first and all I can say is, you will know if you're having back labor. It didn't feel like cramps to me, it was more like someone was gripping my back muscles and spine and squeezing till my whole back and legs began to radiate and the pain was so intense it felt almost hot and I threw up a lot just from the pain of it! I would say that cramping and pain in your back is more likely the weight of baby and baby's general location causing unfamiliar strain on your back and throwing you off. But that's just me! I cannot at all pretend to know what back labor or the early stages of it feels like for everyone. But you'll know if you do have true back labor!

I feel like a FTM on the whole pre-labor/early labor front! I was induced and never got to experience the ramping up of contractions-just jumped into intense contractions / all back labor. But I never had any signs it was gonna be back labor-my back felt fine until active labor-from what my midwives have told me to expect, cramps from front and back are both normal in the end of pregnancy and in labor in general. I'm sure you don't have to worry about it!

Back labor felt like.... Nothing else I have experienced. Its really hard to describe the sensation. It does NOT feel like period cramps in the back. Its more like a super intense burning/pushing/exploding outward kind of pain. This is literally the best I can do to describe it, the only word I kept going back to at the time was just "intense, it's just so intense."
Lower back pain CAN be a sign of labor, but it can also just be normal back/muscle/nerve pain. Can you time the cramping? Like, does it come in sharp waves that last a seeming long time (say 30 seconds or longer) and can be timed as such and such apart? If so that might be contractions. If it's random spasms of pain that are shorter it probably isn't.
@hippiemama I had some really severe back pain that snuck up suddenly on me a few weeks ago. It was painful to the point where I considered going to the ER. I called my OBGYN's office and talked to a nurse there who just walked me over the phone over some stretches to do, and I could not believe how quickly that relieved the pain. You might want to call your OBGYN or check out a prenatal yoga video and try that. Good luck, hope you feel better!
@silverbulletband@kjd291@MMaru Thanks girls!!! You'd think as a STM I'd be more seasoned than this, but apparently my labor remembering skills are slacking.
i have to say I'm quite impressed with amazons resolution people. i order my RRL online bc let's face it I'm way to lazy to make a special trip for it and they sent me one box instead of six. did the little chat thing online and they're overnighting 6 more boxes. yay free box! lol quick and painless
@datalover13 I think you might be my soul sister. I actually brought a plastic fork into the car with me the other day for my commute home from work with my leftovers "just incase".
DH let me know he prefers I have this baby on a Monday or Tuesday because he doesn't want to "waste a weekend in a hospital." I'm like, OK I'll pencil it in for Feb. 21.
mine wants it on a friday to get him out of a weekend work commitment... i already told him he's not going away all weekend when his wife is 40 weeks pregnant! not. happening.
also i really need to stop lurking on Febs board and looking at all of the new babies. it makes me want to meet mine soooo bad and i need her too cook a little longer.
Hahah, oh hubbies. Mine also has said he'd prefer end of week/over the weekend because of work. I guess I'd prefer nights and the weekends too cuz less stress of trying to get him home to pick me up when I'm in labor!
DD came down with hives today, so I had DH take her to the after hours clinic tonight while I was working. I guess she has an ear infection and that can cause hives, so she is now on antibiotics. The dilemma: tomorrow is her preschool day, and I have a massage scheduled that I have reallllly been looking forward to. Am I bad mom if I still bring her so I can go to the spa? Doc said she is not contagious and free to go to preschool, and she has been acting completely normal w/ no fever - but my mom guilt is kicking in right now!
@npaulie, true! And my appointment is right in the morning, so surely she will be fine for a least an hour. She woke up happy (although a few lingering hives on her tummy), so I am going to go for it!
Hello work from home day! Snow day for me! Snowing since about 3-4 am, and we have probably about 4 inches. Not about to dig myself out....so work will have to deal with me getting something done at home. WOO HOO! This is most certainly most exciting for the fact that I don't have to get out of pjs.

Ditto! I got permission from my boss yesterday to stay home because of the storm. I told her that I was so excited to stay in pjs all day!
People scheduling a VIDEO conference call on a snow day -- I mean I know we are all technically "working from home" but I didn't plan on being presentable! And, I'm having a very important meeting with a bagel right now.
DS didn't sleep from 3am-6am then woke up crying at 8:15 so I went to get him out of bed..he started screaming like he was mad I was there, so I left. Then he kept crying. Finally I dragged him out of bed and he was so mad he hopped down out of my arms screaming and ran back to bed. It's silent right now so I'm praying he went back to sleep....it's like he knows his days as the baby are numbered or something. He has been acting SO differently and SO off schedule lately.
@C25 my DS isn't a morning person anyway, he can be a nightmare when he doesn't wake up on his own. He has been way more cuddly lately than usual. I was wondering if it was because he's picked up his brother will be here soon.

@jenny0228 nooooooo a videoconference from home is my NIGHTMARE. We have them a lot in the office, from conference rooms, but anyone who happens to be home during one would just dial in by phone. Cannot imagine putting on a bra on a snow day, especially at this point.
Just here to report that I purchased the COMFIEST maternity/nursing bra off of Amazon for $24. The material is so soft and breathable that I cried when I put it on. I haven't been wanting to spend a fortune on bras because I have no idea what my boobs are going to be like when my milk comes in and I took a gamble with this purchase. Just sharing the link in case anybody else is needing to pick one up!
