@lady_grey Ooh! This bodes so well!!! Looking forward to an update!
AFM, I just got my 5-day post-ER report. Three embryos remain (down from 6 two days ago), but none have reached blast so they get one more day to make it there. Oy. Feeling down. Nurse said it wasn't a bad sign but hey, it ain't a good one, either!
@thecovetrix Hang in there, anything can happen. I was told none of mine would make it to day 5 and a few of them made it by day 6!
A bit off subject: I am totally ok with seeing babies on FB and getting pregnancy announcements from friends, family, etc.. (my little god daughter is going to have a brother/sister soon and I'm totally involved with all that) but I noticed the ones that do bother me somewhat are from friends my age or older. It is because I feel my body is a failure, that I'm somehow inferior genetically/physically, perhaps. We were supposed to meet a couple friends that we haven't seen for a while and only the husband showed up, saying the wife is pregnant with twins (and I think she's 38). I felt very uncomfortable, being that we are smack in the middle of IVF pains. Even my husband was a bit thrown off, and he told me he thinks they also did IVF (to make me/or him feel better?)
Also, I was nosy and looked up youtube IVF stories. I came across a few ladies who ended up with 2-6 embryos and successful pregnancies just by doing Clomid+IVF! I thought you only get 1 or 2 follicles on Clomid (at least I did). How is that even possible when some of us endure lots of hormones, have 20+ eggs and no viable embryos??
@bestofjoy Yup, been there. One of my best friends got PG last year amidst my endless miscarriages (she's a bit younger, 36) and was constantly kvetching to me about her morning sickness. I finally told her, y'know, each time I get pregnant I am searching desperately for signs of morning sickness. I crave it. So STFU uhhh I meeeean consider yourself lucky.
Also - bodies are imperfect, but so is IVF! It is an incredible development, but absolutely full of unknowns. It's practically brand-new science, even four decades in. So your body may work better than you realize, and IVF might be the sticky wicket sometimes. If that makes you feel better.
ER today, my right ovary decided to be a pain and moved up and behind 2 arteries so the Dr wasn't able to try and get anything from that side. They ended up getting 10 mature eggs out of the L side, and the embryologist said that the quality looks good on those. I know 10 is a good #, and since we're doing ICSI hopefully most of them will fertilize. I can't help feeling disappointed in the # we got, my expectations were high since I had so many follicles (30 measuring between 17-20mm as of Monday between the 2 sides). I know 1 is all it takes, but suddenly I keep thinking all the "what ifs" that can go wrong between now and day 5. Sorry to be a downer (especially when it's not bad news) I'm just feeling all the hormones, and all the pain meds right now I think.
@thecovetrix I know, right? IVF is such a hit or miss today, even the doctors agree it's more of an "art". Lots of them don't agree on basic things such is quantity better than quality, impacts of PGS and ICSI, etc. As for other couples around, I used to be ignorant until being hit with IF and thinking those who don't have kids must not want them, when in fact I now know better (most of them can't). I am now much wiser unfortunately, and if I ever get pregnant I will know to keep it down low and be very discreet, especially since most of my friends are my age and if they don't have kids it probably means they are dealing with IF.
@JuliaGoolia719 Glad you cleared this hurdle, and 10 is not shabby. I know you must feel disappointed about the other ovary, IVF is fraught with disappointments and setbacks one way or the other, unfortunately. But praying everything will be alright and you will have a good number of embryos.
@JuliaGoolia719 Oy, that is so frustrating! I know how you feel - I went from a couple dozen in the ultrasounds to 14 retrieved to 8 mature. The way the #s jump is such baloney! But it sounds like you probably have a lot of mature ones in those 10, so here's to those 10 kicking butt!
AFM, I went from six embryos at Day 3 to three Day 5 (none blasts) to... on Day 6... one. But here's to having one, at least! We're doing PGS - results next week - and I'm not at all optimistic, but I would have been more frustrated if none had made it to blast after 14 harvested!
The nurse said next time they would likely trigger me a day later since I had so many immature. That's a comforting prospect. Looking forward to talking to our regular coordinator about a more concrete plan.
@thecovetrix Uh, I know how this feels, the numbers dwindle down so fast from eggs to blastocysts. I am too now fearfully waiting for the PGS results. It's my 2nd IVF and quality, not quantity seems to be the issue..praying for both of us.
When did you all get your AF after the retrieval? I always have 14 day luteal phase but now it came way earlier.
Hi ladies! Happy Friday. I hope everyone has fun weekend plans.
We got some happy news today: we are indeed pregnant! Beta is 236. I'm 9dp5dt. I just can't believe it. I thought we would jump up and down and cry after waiting for this news for soooo long (1194 days to be exact!). But I was just kind of quiet and smiling after the phone call. No tears. We hugged and called our parents. I'm happy and excited for sure but also kind of wary and nervous. It's a strange feeling! But I'm so so grateful for this day, for this moment. I will be rooting for all of you and looking for your updates!!!!
@lady_grey Wowza, I was thinking of you and had a great feeling that you would be the first BFP on the January IVF thread!!! Congrats, enjoy the peace and excitement!
@lady_grey That's fantastic news congrats!! When is your next beta?? Thats a great first beta, what day did you transfer? 1 or 2? May your bean continue to be nice and sticky and strong your whole pregnancy through!!

Got the day 5 report, 2 BB's were biopsied today and will be sent off for testing. There are 2 others that have a slim chance of catching up, but she didn't sound hopeful. Suddenly the thought of PGS testing is so scary, what if neither of them come back normal. Then we're back at square one but without any money to do this again. I just keep thinking about how many possible eggs were in my right ovary that we couldn't get to, and then I get super frustrated and cry. --I'm blaming the leftover hormones from the drugs.
@JuliaGoolia719 hang in there! You will deal with each new hurdle as it comes. Just like you've been doing this whole crazy journey!! You're stronger than you know. Good luck with your testing and congrats on the 2 embabies!
@Hopeful_mom thank you girl!! I transferred one on 1/25. My second beta was today and it's 646, right on track. I still just can't believe it. I can't wait for the first ultrasound to see the heart beat!
@JuliaGoolia719 The wait is scary, isn't it? I hope this is it for you - with two in the running your chances are good!
I only had one embryo as a result of this round, and we just got the PGS results - it's a winner! Transferring it end of March/mid-April... Doc says 70% chance of success.
@lady_grey I am loving your updates! This is such good stuff.
@thecovetrix Uhuu, great news for you. They still didn't contact me regarding the PGS results and I had ER earlier than you...I am on pins and needles and feel very down about it..ugh
@thecovetrix congrats thats awesome! sending u sticky vibes for ur transfer yay!! it does only take one!

Did you put on weight after IVF? I gained almost 7 pounds since stims, which never happened to me before (I am underweight)...:/ I am now post AF (so supposedly the bloating from OHSS should be gone)....is it just weight from hormones or still fluid??
bestofjoy I've also had some weight gain, but I'm not sure whether it's from the hormones or simply because I've taken easier with exercise ever since we started IVF. I've gained total of 4 pounds since the first round.
Hm, dr Google says it is quite common to put on up to 10 lb post IVF, grrr. I didn't change my lifestyle or eating habits so putting on 7 lb in just a few weeks seems extreme to me, definitely something going on. My middle area looks so thick, it's like I'm 4 mo pregnant
@bestofjoy my pants still barely fit me after ER. It's obnoxious and I'm over it
AFM: we got the call with our PGS results today. For the first time in a long time I overtly positive feelings about Valentines Day. I don't usually have negative feelings about it, but its a low key day usually DH and I just order a heart shaped pizza and watch Netflix, we're pretty fancy like that. Today we found out that of our 2 embryos that made it to day 5 we have 2 normal embryos that can be transferred when we decide to do our FET! I've been a wreck about it, way more than I was about ER or stims etc. Seeing our numbers go down SO FAST from going from 22 follicles around 18-20mm, (then not being able to access my right ovary at all for ER), to 10 mature eggs/fertilized and down to 2 on day 5 I was half convinced that we'd suddenly be left with no normal embryos. Hearing that we had both come back normal left me in tears (which I would have preferred if I was able to keep in until I got to my car and was alone, but nope, I was finishing breakfast and was in the middle of a busy restaurant). Now I just need to try and keep my anxiety in check about whether or not I can stay pregnant, at least until closer to FET date.
@JuliaGoolia719 That's awesome news!! Do you know the gender? When do you plan on FET? I hear you on how the numbers dwindle so fast. My case was a rollercoaster, first great 22 eggs wowza, then poor day 3 quality, then 8 blasts wowza, then only 2 normal (75% chromosomal issues). So from 22 to 2! I was upset about it because I was really hoping for 2-3 babies out of those 8 embryos. DH was also rattled. RE said it was likely an egg quality issue or protocol issue. Geneticist told me the higher than usual abnormality rate was due to sperm chromosomes which is uncommon (DH took this hard, in denial, and started to blame the RE left and right, again). I told him that we should slow down and just celebrate the glass half full now but....I'm surprised because he was usually the one to be more positive about things. But secretly he wanted 2 kids (never told me) out of this. I also found out he wants a boy (before revealing to him the gender he kind of freaked out "do we have 2 girls?? don't tell me that" )
Just wanted to give an update since it looks like our thread have been a little quiet lately.
My transfer was yesterday, one grade 4A embryo. TWW starts now:( I had my ER last Thursday on 2/9 and end up having a mild OHSS. (10 eggs collected, 7 fertilized) I was super bloated and felt horrible all weekend. Not to mention, I looked like I was 20 weeks pregnant already! I seriously thought we might have to cancel my 5 day transfer appointment but the 5 days I was able to rest helped alot. A day before ER, I was starting to feel normal again and my bloat subsided. (bed rest and Gatorade for the win)
This time around, things got a little dramatic for me compared to my 1st IVF. Hopefully, it's all worth it at the end and we'll have some positive news next week.
Hope everyone else is doing well~

@cherrybea thank you! @bestofjoy we did find out the gender but agreed that we aren't telling anyone until after transfer and we get at least a few months into the pregnancy, something about this needs to be a surprise for our families! @JuliaGoolia719 yea the bloating suck! I couldn't wear jeans too, had to start wearing my old maternal pants because regular pants were just so uncomfortable!
I POAS yesterday (midday) and this morning. looks like a BFP. I'm feeling very blessed today. my official blood work is this Friday. (Finger crossed everything will be good)
